--------------------------------
Situated in beautiful Northern Vermont, Willow Creek farmhouse-- built in 1910-- has been looking out over the Jay Peak range for the past 106 years. At the base of Pinnacle Mountain, on border between Richford VT and Frelighsburg, Quebec only a mile from the Canadian border. 9 miles from chic Sutton and Mont Sutton in the fabulous Eastern Townships of Quebec and just 75 minutes from Montreal; 18 miles from the base of Jay Peak, 56 miles from Burlington, VT and Lake Champlain.

This classic Vermont farmhouse sits on 4 acres with a captivating view of the Green Mountains. The house can accommodate seven people comfortably in its 3 bedrooms: A King Bedroom, a Queen Bedroom and a Bunk room with Triple Bunks. A formal dining room, large living area with pellet stove, and a large, fully equipped eat in kitchen with a nook overlooking the mountains. There is a pullout sofa in the living room in the event you have a larger group and need extra space.

This area is a "best kept secret": you can hike the Long Trail at Jay Peak, or take the Tram...and easier way to the top! Sky biking through the trees at Au Diable Vert, navigate the Arbor Trek at Smuggler's Notch, or Canoe on the Mississquoi on the Northern Forest Canoe Trail that passes just in front of Willow Creek. Biking on the trails or back roads or picnicing at David Stromeyer's "Cold Hollow Sculpture Park"...there are practically limitless options.

Then, hop over the border to wine tasting in Dunham, Quebec, or shop in chic Sutton or Frelighsburg, Stop at Domaine Pinnacle on the other side of the mountain for some award-winning ice cider and apple brandy. Relax for the day at the amazing Balnea spa in Bromont, Quebec or the more rustic yurt spa at Les Chutes de Bolton-Est. Take a day in Montreal, it's only an hour and a half away...you can be back by evening to fall into bed at the farm.

The number of outstanding restaurants throughout Canada's Eastern Townships is equally limitless; try Bistro Beaux Lieux, or Brouerie de Sutton in Sutton for starters or Sucrerie d’Erable in Frelighsburg, Quebec or stop at the famed Abercorn bakery for some pastries or baguettes. If you want to stay “stateside” check out The Belfry in nearby Montgomery or the Crossing in Richford.

Or just relax at the farm. We don’t have a TV here (intentionally), but we do have plenty of games, books, and we do have Wi-Fi in case you need to check that email (resist!!) or put a film on for the kiddies while the parents sip brandy by the fire.

Note: Adults need a passport to get across the border (Kids under 16 years old can use their birth certificates. Best to bring adoption papers for adopted children).

--------

I live in southern Vermont 3 hrs away, but i am often in the area and i have many friends that can provide any kind of assistance you'll be needing. I am easily reachable by phone at any time of day or night.

Outras observações

To get the most out of this, you should ideally bring your passports. Going back and forth is easy...just a few minutes, especially at the Frelighsburg crossing (nearest to house). Young kids under 16 years can get across the border using just their birth certificates. Adopted children should have proof of adoption. Groceries can be acquired in Enosburg at Hannafords or both in Sutton or on a more limited basis in Richford.

Driving up here is best accomplished with winter snow tires as the roads can be icy from December to April. Snow tires are also required in Quebec.

We want you to enjoy yourself.... but there are a few basic house rules: 1) No smoking inside the house. 2) small and mid size dogs are OK only if they are house trained and don't chew on furniture. Ask about larger dogs. No cats. 3) the basement and the barn are off limits (we just store things in those spaces). 4) Wine: beyond the bottle that we provide as a gift, you may access wine in the rack in the kitchen at the prices denoted in the house manual (which is simply replacement cost ...this is for your convenience). Just put the money in the can next to the rack. 5) Liquor: please bring your own liquor as the stuff in our cabinet is not for general consumption. 6) the canoe in the garage belongs to a friend and it's not for use by guests. For rental canoes consider Canoe & Co. in Sutton. 7) Keep an eye on kids near the pond. 8) Day of check out: please just put your dirty dishes in the washer and strip the beds that have been used and put the sheets and dirty towels next to the bed...this way we know which beds need changing. Lock up house, reset alarm, put key in key box and shut garage doors. 9) Report any accidental damage to me before leaving (email is fine).

This is the fourth time we have stayed at Willow Brook Farm. It has become our "go to" place for rest and relaxation. The place is extremely spacious and comfortable and has always been impeccably clean. Although Richford is somewhat out of the way, that is a large part of its charm. We have stayed there in three of the four seasons and have always found plenty to do. The place is very conveniently situated to Burlington, Montreal, the eastern Canadian townships and ski areas at Jay Peak and Mount Sutton. All-season outdoor activity abounds in the area. Good restaurants and several wineries and breweries can be found in the surrounding area. Be sure to check out the nearby community of Sutton, Quebec for some wonderful food options, particularly cheeses. For young children there are a number of swimming holes in nearby rivers and at nearby waterfalls, not to mention the indoor water park at Jay Peak, which is popular for all ages. There are many opportunities and for paddling, road biking and mountain biking in the area. The kitchen is extremely well stocked for food preparation and there's a wonderful selection of books in the library. It is truly a wonderful place for a short stay...or for an extended one!

The house was as pictured, but even nicer in person. We stayed here with our 2 kids who each brought a friend, and our 2 dogs. There was plenty of space for everyone both in and outside of the house. The dining room was great for meals together and playing lots of games. We balanced our time relaxing in the house and exploring the area. We found we preferred the restaurants and activities nearby in Canada, but also found some good spots in Montgomery, Jay Peak area and Cambridge VT. Would recommend as a restful get-away in a beautiful setting.

Great house, old renovated farm house, tastefully decorated and in a pristine Vermont landscape. We stayed there as a base to ski at Jay Peak and wished we had more time to just enjoy the place. Todd is a great host with thoughfull attentions and great responsiveness. I highly recommend the place.

We had a wonderful stay at the farm. Though the weather was weird for winter, we found a way to be outside nearby everyday, and enjoyed the sun peeking through clouds through the large southern facing windows - glorious! Everything was exactly as billed, and Todd was a superb BNB host, with detailed, personalized directions for everything. We loved it, would recommend it to anyone wanting to explore the Jay Peak and Eastern Townships area!

Todd, You have a wonderful place. Everyone liked the decor, the pellet stove entertained a cozy atmosphere and the provided amenities were top notch. The 1934 Philco Baby Grand Cathedral is real cool! Thanks for having us; ....toughest part was getting to the key in the garage. The amount of snow made it difficult finding/accessing the garage side door.”. Response: Thanks Jake: sorry about the key ...will figure that out...had not had so much snow of late...but will revise accordingly. Thanks and welcome anytime!

Todd is a tremendous host. He responded promptly to emails and was helpful and accommodating while we planned our trip and also during our stay over Christmas. Todd's home is gorgeous with beautiful antiques, well- curated African artifacts, and comfortable furnishings. The house was very clean and the setting was idyllic- very peaceful. We had a magical stay. Thank you Todd!
