Acesso dos hóspedes
+ all gardens and walking tracks
+ tea ceremony room for tea or meditation. The tea ceremony space can be entered in stockinged feet - because of the tatami mats - or viewed from the outside.
+ shared kitchenette anytime during your stay
A note to guests bringing young children:
Our property has several ponds and paths with jagged rocks, plus other hazards, so it could be dangerous for young children - please ensure children are supervised at all times when walking on the property.
Unfortunately this space is not suitable for pets because of the tatami matting in the adjacent tea ceremony room.
A note about insects and geckoes:
As we are in a bush environment there will occasionally be visits from insects such as moths and dragonflies and also geckoes. All of these creatures are harmless. It is almost impossible to stop geckoes living around the houses in tropical and semitropical parts of the world such as this so all we can do is try to live in harmony with them :)
There is plenty of parking on the grassy area to the right as you enter the gate.
If you are here for an extended stay, please enquire about using the washing machine the main house.

I live in the adjoining main house, so please feel free to call on me if you have any questions. I will leave you alone unless called.
While being a lovely space - very similar to an inn in the Japanese countryside - this suite may not be for everyone. If you are here on a Monday, Wednesday or Saturday, please be prepared to share the kitchenette and also the toilet with tea ceremony students - from as early as 8:00 am. On these days there would be some degree of noise and activity in the share kitchen while teachers/students prepare for class. Your own bedroom/living space and en suite will remain private. Guests are advised to latch the kitchen door the night before to ensure total privacy.
Your room is immediately adjacent to the verandah&living space of another Airbnb room (separated by a wall) so you may hear activity in that room as well. But we ask for no loud noise after 9pm so it should not disturb you.
The great thing about this property is that we are only 20 minutes by car from two great beaches (Burleigh & Broadbeach) and just 10 minutes to Robina Town Centre - a huge shopping centre with everything including cinema and bowling and world-class eateries (at The Kitchens). The location is actually excellent, being about equal distance from the beach and from the national park at Springbrook, so a great base for enjoying the best of the Gold Coast.
Please be aware that we do own a dog, a mini poodle (and our next door neighbour's dog may also come plodding across to visit from time to time). If you are not keen on dogs and don't want our poodle to greet you on arrival please let me know in advance so we can try to keep him indoors at your arrival time. Sorry I can't control the next door neighbour's dog.
Ours is a quiet neighbourhood and we would appreciate no noise after 9pm.
I lived in Japan for 23 years working as a journalist, writer, editor. Travelling to old country towns and Japanese Tea Ceremony were a big part of my life. Tea Ceremony still is. I have my own chashitsu at home and teach there three days a week in addition to teaching Japanese translation at university part time. I have a teenage daughter and we live with my dad (88) and two dogs in a beautiful part of the world.
