Dear Udit, thank you for your long review. Firstly let me tell you that you are a good a nice person and it was a pleasure to share the flat during your short stay. Secondly let me reply point by point to your observations here below:
"It was much older than expected....and the photos online don't truly explain what the apartment is like" I have just checked the published photos and I confirm that all the furniture and all places in common are exactly the same now.
"and although Luca offered me some food, it was essentially cheap sugary cereal and a single juice popper" as airbnb hosts we are not requested to offer food and drinks to our guests, so it was a plus. if you didn't appreciate the drink and the food it was enough not to eat/drink them.
"Being on a main street" this is the first time that it's not a good think :)
"particularly when emergency services vehicles drive by" we will inform the swiss health about that ;)
"but there was a lot of construction happening at the time of my stay" for the last decades the swiss real estate market is experiencing a strong bullish trend but according to the last heads-up a new real estate bubble is coming so let's hold on!!
"from about 7am onwards" yes it's insane... unfortunately here the people are use to get up early to work hard.... real no sense.
"There is no fan or aircon in the apartment" that's the reason why below the voice "service" (on our account) you don't find those services mentioned.
"which meant my room got unbearably hot" the global warning is a real problem :(
"it overlooks the neighbouring building (which is very close!)" = more than 8 meters
"There were A LOT of people sitting on their balconies from that building and they literally stare into the room I was staying in. This meant, for privacy, I had to keep the blinds shut pretty much my entire stay" we will inform that unknown people do not spy my guests anymore.
"I would only recommend staying here if you are desperate for a cheap deal and don't mind renting a room in a place that feels like a struggling bachelor pad" we are really sad about that
"I think they just need to be more honest about what the apartment truly offers." I believe that you overestimated the place on your own, we offer a good accommodation at a cheap price.
I think that around 99% of the said things are out of our control. we offer a good place really close to the center, our neighbours is calm, polite and reserved like the most of swiss are. During your stay Lugano was boiling but is not up to us.
The thing that hurts me is that you didn't mention that we have always replied at your questions and we have always met your needs (like the possibility to have an iron).
About the kitchen cleaning you are right, at that period Marco was not there I was really busy with my job. Keeping clean a flat large more than 80 meters square could be tough sometimes...
my friend, I don't really know what are your standards but Airbnb is not only a room where sleep in. Here we share beautiful moments with our guests coming from all the world if they want. The guest has the possibility to join us outside and live town.
If you were not looking for that maybe you should have booked a single hotel room.
Thank you for again for sharing your opinion, we both will make our best to improve our services.
I wish you the best,
