O que você fará
There are more than 10 Michelin-rated restaurants in Kagurazaka. Politicians and celebrities come to eat here, but the best shops are hidden from the main street, so the place is very difficult to figure out, and most menus are only in Japanese. Many restaurants in Kagurazaka are very closed off and do not advertise at all. They are already known to gourmets in the neighborhood and do not want more customers, as they feel it will deteriorate their quality. Having said that, most good restaurants in Kagurazaka are hard to find even for Japanese people.
This tour explores Kagurazaka in the morning. We will walk around old town Kagurazaka where we will see historical Geisha houses, modern shrines designed by famous architects, the still-in-use writer's hotel where Souseki wrote his most famous works, and the charm of Kagurazaka's famous cobblestone alleyways.
We will eat a very inexpensive (~300-1000 yen) yet very delicious rice-based breakfast from a Mom-and-Pop onigiri (rice ball) restaurant and I will also introduce hidden streets and good restaurants and secret cafes while walking.
I will also give you a list of very tasty Japanese restaurants in Tokyo that offer an English menu yet are not "foreigner only" establishments like you might find on the English restaurant review sites -- so that after the tour you can go to a nice cafe or enjoy lunch around Kagurazaka.
Other things to note
The fee here is only for guide services.
Please note that you will also be responsible for paying for your food at all of the restaurants we visit.
I will pay for my own food.
I also offer an afternoon lunch tour and an evening izakaya (Japanese pub)
tour. Check out my profile if you are interested

I used to be a professional writer, but now I generally take it easy (though I still sometimes blog at Foodies Journey In Tokyo).
I am a food lover, I write about food, and I lived in the Kagurazaka neighborhood for over 10 years. I have traveled all over the world and eaten all sorts of delicious local foods, and I love to interact with people from other countries. In my travels, I have had really delicious meals in places I could only have visited with local people, and I would like to do the same for others. Let me help make your trip a wonderful one by showing you amazing Japanese food.

The restaurant is a hole in the wall onigiri place that is really good and cheap. You can eat different kinds of onigiri, aka musubi, that you wouldn't usually find anywhere else. Definitely better than convenience store onigiris. Without this tour, I wouldn't have found this place. The host will also share with you her personal list of various good restaurants in Tokyo. If you're a foodie, you could use this recommendation to plan your restaurants during your stay.
