O que você fará

In this class I will teach you the basics of Portuguese bread making using flour, sourdough, water and salt. We will work with locally sourced ingredients. You will have the opportunity to make a hand kneaded loaf from scratch. I will share with you my technique and process as well as tips and tricks which will provide you the knowledge to bake your own bread at home.

We will make 2 types of bread, a wheat flour and a corn flour bread. Bread making takes time. This will allow us to sit down together and enjoy a Portuguese breakfast with freshly baked bread.

Please let me know if you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions. This experience is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

The bread workshop will take place in my home, a typical apartment from the 40s in Arroios neighborhood. The kitchen is semi-professional so we'll have all the space and equipment to conduct our class.

Altogether a great experience, visiting Sandra. Great lesson, great breakfast and a kind host, who gave us a very useful insight in the processes of bread baking.

This was a really interesting and unique experience. It was so hands on (pun intended) and I felt like we came away knowing so much more. It was a lot more practical knowledge than making a pastry that i don't have the normal tools for. A simple bread I can make at home though. This was all around a lovely way to spend a morning!

Amazing experience. The right experience if you are interested in learning how to make traditional bread. Sandra generously shared her knowledge with us and we felt very welcome. Definitely recommended when visiting Lisbon.

Sandy is knowledgeable and freely shares her experiences with the group. The experience was enjoyable and I learned a few additional tips on bread baking. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. Sandy is passionate about bread baking and healthy cooking. Very fun experience.

This experience was on top of my to-do list in Lisboa, but only to be found unavailable during my short trip. Hence I contacted Sandra and explained the issue, where she went ahead and arranged a personal class for me. Not only she was being so generous and kind for doing this huge favor, she also checked in with me a few more time before we actually had a class. Sandra is so passionate and knowledgeable about making sourdough bread and eating well! We had a beautiful -one of the most memorable meals I had- breakfast together with all different kinds of homemade fruit confits, butter (can you believe it? She makes fresh butter at home!), cheese, honey, hummus and drinks to accompany the two different kind of sourdough bread. This was not just a baking class, but a moment to reflect on the cultural impact on how we dine those days as well as learning about what it is like to live in Lisboa-that being said, her home was just so beautifully decorated! I am so glad I was able to take her class! Highly recommend this experience, won’t disappoint.
