O que você fará

As a chef, there is nothing more alluring and intoxicating than strolling through our local farmer's market: looking, smelling, tasting and sourcing produce, fish, beef, chicken and cheeses from people I actually know and love to support. For this experience, our intimate group will tour and shop the San Rafael Farmer's market. You'll meet my absolutely favorite farmers, learn how to select produce, fish and meat; discover new ingredients and explore new ideas with some classics; (Broccoli Rab Pesto or Cinnamon dusted Halibut..yum) We'll chat, taste and finally head back to my home kitchen where I'll teach you to cook! Cooking for me is about sharing my passion for food and the people who are responsible for growing what we put on our plate and I can't wait to share that with you.
Other things to note
Bring a bottle of wine if you like, wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to have fun in the kitchen.

I've been cooking in the bay area for 25 years now. For the last 8 years I was the Chef and Director of the Cooking School at Cavallo Point, where we were named as one of the top resort culinary schools in the world (Gayot) and best of the bay in 2016. YAY. Now, I'm mastering live fire in wood burning ovens, and cooking from the farmer's markets both here and in Mexico. (surfing as well).

We'll meet at my home in Sausalito and drive to the San Rafael Farmer's Market. You'll meet local farmers and ranchers, taste some amazing cheeses, and select ingredients for our lunch. Once we're finished at the market we will head back to my place for a hands on cooking class and lunch.

We loved the class with Jayne! Visiting the farmers market with someone so “in the know” about the produce, products and people was a real treat. Jayne’s friendly and easy way of teaching made the cooking class at her home really fun, casual and informative. I had taken several of Jaynes’s classes with friends and colleagues at Cavallo Point when she was there, all of which were really enjoyable —- but this one was even better!! We also had a great time with the two other guests. All in all ... a perfect Sunday.

From Amal and Kathey: This was one of the most wonderful mornings we have had since we moved to the Bay area a few years ago. This was our first AirBnB Experience ever and Jayne is an absolute dream to be around. We felt so welcome from the moment we met her. Attending the farmers market with her was educational and a blast, and we met more wonderful vendors and tasted more things there than we could ever have imagined. The cooking class and like being live on a television show, and we learned so much--like how to cut an onion and not cry! Then came the actual meal, which was divine. You could not ask for a more perfect time. Thank you so much Jayne!

We very much enjoyed spending our morning with Chef Jayne. The day started with a trip to the market where Chef Jayne purchased the ingredients for our incredible meal and introduced us to several local vendors who shared their stories. Not only was our meal delicious, but Chef Jayne was EXTREMELY knowledgeable. We learned a lot, and picked up some cooking skills that we could actually apply to our everyday lives. Chef Jayne is gracious, friendly, and a true professional. I would recommend this experience to anyone from beginners (like we were) to professional chefs.

It turned out I was the only participant so I enjoyed a private class. I cook a lot at home but have never taken formal classes, and I learned a lot from Jayne. I had my breakfast at the market with all the samples, and learned how to cook delicious food like oysters and homemade pasta. The experience exceeded my expectations and was very enjoyable. I recommend not scheduling anything immediately afterwards so you can fully enjoy the time and not worry if it runs over.

Wow! Spending a day cooking with Jayne was an amazing experience! It all started on our drive to the San Rafael Farmers Market when she asked us about foods we liked, disliked and what we wanted to learn that day. At the market, Jayne literally knew everyone and introduced us to several local vendors where we had the opportunity to taste, sample and learn about everything from vegetables to olive oil to cheese. Yum! She pulled together a menu on the fly and we headed back to her place to start prepping. Over the course of the afternoon, we chopped, diced, sauteed and sampled all kinds of tasty food combos, learned pro knife skills and a variety of prep and cooking techniques. The day was lots of fun and ended on a high note with a delicious meal and good conversation. Jayne's Market Cooking Class is a fantastic experience for anyone who is looking for a true hand-on shopping and cooking experience. Good stuff!

Spending the day with Chef Jayne was a blast. Although my girlfriend and I don't consider ourselves to be beginners, we still learned a lot. We started the day with Chef Jayne and another couple, exploring one of the most famous farmer's markets in North Bay. We got to try fresh, seasonal foods from the area, local cheeses, vinegars, etc. From these, we selected items to bring back and cook. Chef Jayne has great ideas and really brought the dishes to life (not to mention the freshest spices I've ever had!). Thanks for the experience Chef Jayne, it was totally worth it!
