O que você fará

Help make Amsterdam’s canals plastic-free and join us for a two hour plastic fishing adventure. While cleaning up the canals, you get to see the historical center with its many highlights from a unique perspective: the water. Our skipper will gladly tell you about it.

Plastic Whale believes in the power of doing, no matter what season it is. We commit unconditionally to our mission; fighting for plastic-free waters worldwide. This winter we want you to bring out your inner adventurer and join the movement of doers on the water to fish plastic. Come winter fishing with Plastic Whale cause' that warm drink at home on your sofa will just taste a lot better if you do. During winter time, we offer enough blankets and tea to keep you warm while enjoying Amsterdam's beautiful winter sights and lights!

The plastic we collect together with you is recycled into Plastic Whale boats—the same kind of boats that we use during this experience. And did you know that we're also making furniture out of Amsterdam Canal Plastic?

P.S.: A lot of people like to write about this experience. In some cases, we invite press to go plastic fishing together with you or to make some photos. If you don't feel comfortable with this, please let us know by sending us a message!

Sobre a empresa: Plastic Whale

Plastic Whale is the first professional plastic fishing company in the world. It started in 2011 with a single challenge to build a boat made of plastic waste. Today, we have a fleet of ten design boats made from Amsterdam Canal Plastic. It is our goal to go ‘out of business’: overfishing is a positive phenomenon in our case.

Esta é uma experiência de impacto social, por isso, 100% do que você pagar por ela vai para Plastic Whale.

Onde você estará

We’ll be on the canals of Amsterdam showing you the highlights. We'll also cruise to spots large tourist boats can’t access due to their size.

Cool way to see the canals of Amsterdam AND make a difference. The boat we were on was made of the plastic that was fished out of the canals! Ours had a bottom comprised of plastic bottle tops and cocoa beans (a nod to the sponsor of the boat). Eric was a great guide with seemingly a deep passion for the cause, experience, and quite a bit of patience for those of us grumbling about the bad weather. We did get soaked by the rain, and fishing out several bags of plastic and other stuff (including 2 chairs and a brand new looking motorcycle helmet), so come prepared for this adventure! Totally recommended for something different.

A wonderful experience! Bundle up if you go in winter, but Eric (a wonderful host!) had hot drinks and chocolate at the ready and gloves and towels to keep everything dry! It was a great way to see the canals, learn about the city, and make a positive impact while you visit! I left with several more places I wanted to visit next and a better understanding of some the environmental concerns facing Amsterdam. I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting the city, especially with youngsters!

Such a cool worthwhile experience! Definitely worth taking the 2 hours of your day. You feel like you're giving back to the area in a very direct way and you get a great view of the canal. That being said-just know you're going to get a bit wet and therefore chilly. I had multiple layers on and still was very cold(January experience). I personally wouldn't do it again in the winter but your tolerance may vary-I happened to go on the coldest day of my stay. Absolutely you should do it(and I'd do it again on a warmer day for sure)-just be aware of your personal limitations and dress appropriately.

Amazing experience that allows you to give back to the city through fishing garbage out of the canals and enjoy a great boat tour!

What a way to make new friends and clean up the canals. Amazing how 9 strangers worked together to collect as much rubbish and plastic out of canals. Loads of laughter and a bit of competition. Did not matter that it was cold.

What a wonderful experience. We met lovely, interesting people who thought about and had something to say about the world we live in and how we can, together, make a difference. And, it was totally fun and unique.
