Hawaiian cuisine has a rich history that dates back nearly two thousand years with influences from Polynesia, Asia and the West. In this class you'll learn traditional Hawaiian cooking techniques, and how to replicate these techniques in a modern kitchen. This will be a hands on experience that will help you to bring a bit of Hawaii back home! Our class with take a culinary journey through the history of Hawaii. We’ll first cook two ancient Hawaiian dishes that are staples of the Hawaiian lu’au. Next, we’ll cook two dishes that reflect the changing culinary landscape in Hawaii during the early to mid 1800s. Finally, we’ll explore modern Hawaiian cuisine that reflects the increasingly diverse population in Hawaii during the 1900s. Finally, you’ll have a chance to relax and enjoy your creations on our beachfront home just a few feet from the Pacific Ocean. After this class you'll be able to throw your own lu'au for friends and family back home!
