O que você fará

Are you ready to learn about the revolutions which have disrupted and morphed the UK's capital city? The social, political, and cultural upheavals which have shaped London's history and created the culturally rich city we live in today? Then you can't leave London without joining this tour.

This walking tour takes us from the site of the first Roman settlement buried deep underground at the heart of modern London’s financial district to the medieval execution spot at the Eastern edge of the City. Along the way, we will explore narrow alleys, view spectacular ancient and modern architecture and encounter some of the larger than life characters and momentous events that have left their marks on London over its two thousand years of history - including Queen Boudicca who destroyed Roman London in the year 61, the rebel "Emperor" Carausius whose revolt against Rome led to the destruction of the London Forum in the year 300, the 1381 Peasant's Revolt, Samuel Pepys who chronicled the destruction of London in 1666 (divine retribution for London's sinful ways?), Bonnie Prince Charlie's Jacobite rebels of 1745, the notorious 18th Century Hellfire Club and the Gordon rioters who attacked the Bank of England in 1780.

See London through the lens of change. Experience the diversity of an ever-changing city.

Hi there! We're Ian and Amy.

Ian (your guide) is a lawyer, historian and official City of London tour guide. Introducing guests to the splendours and secrets of my hometown is his passion. He tries to make our tours a mixture of fun and fact (with some of the facts being funny and some of the fun being factual). With more than 35 years experience of hosting visitors to the City and access to sites that are not generally open or known to the public, he gives our guests a true insider's perspective.

Amy is Creative Events Producer at Child.org, the organisation that receives 100% of the profits from this tour. Amy is a qualified Theatre and Event Manager who has created successful walking tours in Edinburgh, London and Oxford. She is passionate about sharing the UK's history (especially it's lesser known history) in an engaging way.

The tour was super interesting, and when I walked around the streets of London afterwards I saw the city with new eyes! Ian was both knowledgeable and friendly, and I will definitely sign up for another of his tours the next time I travel to London:-)

Hi Amy, ease thank Ian for a really enjoyable 2 hours. His tour was really interesting, telling us the history of the city whilst taking us on a 'magical mystery tour', pointing out hidden gems, old alleyways and iconic new buildings. 1500 years covered in 2 hours. Thank you, Norma and Rod
