O que você fará

This public experience is given in English.
Private group tours in English or Spanish are available.

Herstory: From Malinche (Malintzin) to Frida.

As a women's & diversity ally I conduct the first Mexico City walking experience devoted entirely to sharing women’s history & influence at their homes & tributes.

The tour, starting at Frida Kahlo’s former school, takes you through the Historic Center, a World Heritage site, passing or visiting magnificent landmarks including beautiful former Catholic schools & convents, Plaza de Santo Domingo, the Palace of the Spanish Inquisition, the Old Medicine School, El Camino Real, working Federal Offices, the Old Central Customs House, the Wrestling Arena & the Museum of Women.

We will unravel incredible stories at every turn, such as our Catholic Patroness Guadalupe & our founding mothers: Leona, Josefa & La Güera plus world celebrities like Sor Juana Inés & Frida Kahlo, in multiple landmark buildings, museums, monuments & murals by Diego Rivera & others.

From ancient times to date, we will recall women who had a defining role in history, politics, arts, literature, education, religion, sports & science like Matilde Montoya, Mexico's first female physician.

Learn about Mexico's greatest women whilst meandering through the streets in which they lived, finishing at the Museum of Women, displaying history from a gender perspective.

For decades as a hobby & then as a professional activity, I have researched & shared the history of diversity that has been forgotten, left hidden or in the closet for most of its parts to help advance the fight for equality.

I have earned my National Tour Guide License & also a Hosting Diploma by Walt Disney University in Florida. My curated & focused walks showcase Women's, Indigenous, LGBT, Jewish, US American & other diverse sides of history in Mexico at its relevant sites.

I thrive to show our vast history, arts & traditions; from Mexico before Mexico & its founding in 1325 A.D., to date; not in a boring way but in one that I expect may amuse you.

I share the stories from the diverse communities that shaped us at places where it happened. Malinche, Luis Carvajal, Sor Juana, Salvador Novo, Frida Kahlo & Robert Brady are part of it.

This is a fabulous, far-ranging, much-needed excursion through the annals of women's history in Mexico City, one that deftly explores the iconic figures of Malinche, Sor de la Juana, and Frida Kahlo, and casts a light on lesser-known historical women, such as the city's "Founding Mothers" and "crowned nuns." This riveting tour is enriched by a viewing of significant female figures in Diego Rivera's celebrated murals, and is capped off by an engaging visit to the Museo de La Mujer, the city's modest but vibrant women's museum. Highly recommended: a must for anybody wanting to know more about women's dynamic contributions to Mexican culture.
