*Please note: I am available for other dates, AND you can stay here in an antique sheepherder's wagon or cabin! Please inquire https://www.airbnb.com/users/3124664/listings
I have owned and operated The Wool Mill since February of 2018. The decision to purchase the mill equipment came after working in the previous mill location for 4 years. I saw the value of taking a raw product and helping other sheep owners turn that product into yarn. We also do roving for handspinners and felters as well as batts.
Our system is run by solar, both solar thermal and PV. Everything in the mill gets used or reused, composted or put back on the earth. We are a zero-waste mill.
Aside from raising my own sheep here on the farm, I am also a superhost to visitors from all over the world.

I surprised my mom who is an avid knitter or you could say yarn artist! She had no idea what was in store for our outing. She loved every minute of this tour. I don't have a domestic bone in my body but this tour still fascinated me. I love that every bit of the process The Wool Mill aims to recycle or limit waste. Excellent tour. Excellent knowledge. And I love my wool rug my mother purchased for me at the mill.

LaVonne is an expert in the field of wool processing. Specialized, small-batch, artisanal mill owners like her are keeping a valuable tradition alive, producing gorgeous all-natural wool yarn from local sheep. She shows you every step, from cleaning, to carding, to spinning. It really makes you appreciate the skill and work that go into a hand-made woolen garment. You can even stay on her farm in antique shepherd’s wagons, and see her own flock of sheep and goats, but you have to search for that separately on the Airbnb accommodations page.

My wife & I loved our tour of the wool mill. LaVonne was extremely gracious and friendly, and was very insightful into the unique work she does. Would recommend to anyone, even total beginners like me!

We highly recommend visiting LaVonne's wool mill, where she processes wool straight off of the sheep into beautiful yarns and rovings. If yarn isn't your thing, don't fret! This is a chance to see America's and Montana's cultural heritage up close and personally - watch vintage machinery come to life and a beautiful product made in front of your eyes. Don't forget to visit her flock of sheep/llama/mule/cattle/etc and step into the restored shepherd's cabin and 2 (!) sheepwagons!
