Spend a unforgettable holiday in the enchanting surroundings of the town of Cisternino (reachable from the near airports of Bari and Brindisi). Trullo Edera offers a heaven of peace and tranquillity, set in an elevated position with a stunning view. It's the perfect place if you like nature. You can stay under an olive tree reading a good book, you can have a walk in the small country streets or go to the nearest beaches. You can even easily visit any of the sights in Apulia such as the caves of Castellana, the trulli of Alberobello, the baroque cities of Lecce and Martina Franca, the excavations of Egnazia, the zoosafari of Fasano, Castel del Monte with Frederick's castle, Grottaglie famous for its ceramics, Taranto, Brindisi and Lecce museums. Prices vary on period and are to be considered included: in-outcoming cleanings, towels, sheets, water, gas, electricity.
  • Beautiful Trullo and Anna was incredibly helpful! I highly recommend this Trullo. It's so much bigger than I thought it was. Anna kept in great contact form the start to the end of our stay and was even kind enough to share some Garlic with us when we forgot to pick some up on our shopping trip :D This is a beautiful part of the country

  • Staying in Anna's trullo was a wonderful experience, we couldn't have asked for anything more. The home was clean and beautiful as expected both inside and out. The location is perfect for day journeys (by car) to all the amazing surrounding towns and beaches, or for taking bike rides through the countryside around the trullo. Anna and her family were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We would highly recommend staying here if you want to explore Puglia, and hope to stay here again ourselves!

  • We had a great time at the property. It's in a very charming location, and well kept. Anna was really nice and provided us with some local produce for breakfast. Would definitely recommend it.

---ENGLISH ---Trullo Edera is a delightful place in the heart of Val d'Itria and an ideal base to explore Ostuni, Cisternino, Martina Franca, Locorotondo, towns you’d be mad to miss if you are in Puglia! At our arrival, Anna welcomed us with delicious fresh fruit and she was extremely kind and helpful throughout our stay. The Trullo is a marvel: besides the opportunity of staying in a traditional Puglia house, which is an experience in itself, the trullo was clean, comfortable, spacious, and equipped with everything you need. It is surrounded by a stunning countryside, and you can walk around and explore the place. It 'a great base to see the Valley Itria and in general Puglia. Our only regret is that we spent there only one night, my friends I would have gladly remained for a whole week!

  • We really loved our stay in the Trullo. What we especially loved, was the authenticity of the house and it's surroundings. But also it's great to experience the hospitality, attention and warmness of Anna and of the whole family Zizzi. The house was nicely pre-heated on our relatively cold late arrival. Fortunately there were basic supplies. The location of the Trullo is perfect for visiting cities and beach. The nearby located Osteria Sant' Anna proved to be a very good recommendation from Anna! This Trullo is a very nice and safe place, with very nice people!

  • Can't say enough about our trulli stay at Anna's. We were concerned because our first experience in Ravello was not the best intro to Italian airbnb, as there wasn't anything for a traveler just arriving in Ravello, no soap, just a few sheets of toilet paper, no welcome bottle of water. We changed our airbnb plans for the trip and stayed in hotels until we got to Anna's trulli. It was packed with all a home could have and more! Her mother gave us a jar of homemade cherry jam, farm eggs, orange juice, etc. I have an airbnb and have learned to offer more than normally expected because I am aware that a traveler may not have the opportunity to buy even basic supplies before arrival. At Anna's this was nit the case. The trulli is close to Ostuni, nearby to Cisternina, but central to visit many beautiful towns. We hope to return with family someday!

  • Anna and her family are wonderful host! Anna is very sweet, kind and friendly person. she picked and dropped us to Brindisi city. she even showed us Cisternino town. House is beautiful, like a fairytale house. It is huge and very comfortable. one can relax, cook and enjoy nearby beautiful towns (cisternino..), also their farm. they have bicycle too. They left so many wonderful food items in Trullo for us. all the items from their farm and also homemade stuff like lemon jam. everything was just amazing. Hope to stay at their Trullo and meet this wonderful family again.

Merci encore

The world famous Seashell house is a gated property .... owners/architects live next door. You will have a private pool, two king beds , kitchenette and BBQ and entire property, both shells . In shell wifi, air conditioning. I am proud to enable your stay . Enjoy a day or more feeling like a celebrity as passers by will seek to look in with intrigued expressions.
My dear friends Raquel and Eduardo Ocampo designed and built the Seashell House and for many years no one knew that it was possible to stay here and fewer knew how to arrange a stay. I decided it was too special to keep to myself and I invited the world via AIRBNB !!! Raquel and daughter Vane are your hosts at this unique island paradise . If crowded pools, lobby's and the "tourist bubble" are not your idea of an escape then the SEASHELL HOUSE may be the perfect place for your stay in ISLA MUJERES. Nearest airport : Cancun International Nearest port :. Puerto Juarez (downtown Cancun adjacent) or Playa Tortugas (Cancun hotel zone) Nearest beach : we face the rocky north side of the island and the best beach is north beach which is 15 minutes away by golf cart. El Garrafon snorkel park is a short distance in the opposite direction. Maximum guests is exactly as specified ...there is space for four . Isla Mujeres is 7 km long and 650 meters wide. Arrive by convenient taxi (6USD)or by golf cart(35 USD PER DAY) to THE SEASHELL HOUSE(S) PRIVATE GATED PROPERTY IN RESIDENTIAL ISLA MUJERES ISLAND ~ PRIVATE POOL ~ ONE KING BED IN EACH HOUSE The residential area is on a cliff side of the tiny island to allow privacy. You are not right in the middle of all the tourists but getting to the most beautiful beaches is easy with a golf cart or taxi. Of course, privacy is sometimes lost as tourists on golf carts notice the spectacular architecture and stop to gawk over the fence making you suddenly understand how celebrities feel. The smaller rounder shell has an immaculate KING BED and private bath with shower and a tv with a wide array of channels in English and in Spanish. The private bath with shower is made of tile and shells . The taller shell has a sitting area downstairs and KITCHENETTE with a large fridge, microwave, gas stovetop and sink with all the tools you need to enjoy meals . The round sitting area also has a tv with satellite channels. There is also a half bath off the sitting area. Up a rounded staircase is the master bedroom with a KING BED and private bath with shower. There is a balcony over looking the pool and across the street , the Caribbean Sea. Wifi is provided for free in the QUEEN CONCH Every room in the house has a remote controlled air conditioner. Towels - linens and soap are provided of course :) Ample parking for your golf cart or scooter. Tiny geckos make there home in and around the property, and all over Mexico, so if cute little geckos freak you out and will disturb your stay then do not come to the Seashell house. Come to Isla Mujeres for a vacation that you will never forget, one that you will have fond memories of all year long...until you come . The houses sleep FOUR PEOPLE TOTAL. There is one king bed in each house. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE HISTORY : In 1994 architect Eduardo Ocampo arrived in Isla Mujeres and built a house for himself (and later met his wife Maria Raquel) His brother Octavio Ocampo visited frequently, Eduardo had two pieces of land in a quaint residential area with caribbean sea views....and wished to build on his lot for his brother. Of course, this could not be any house. Octavio, a famous painter and needed something unique. Eduardo at first wanted a palala...but this was not allowed...having been very influenced by the "mountains" of seashells all around, he was inspired to actually construct a seashell. This would be the vacation home of his brother (in Cuernavaca) , it would be rounded on the inside, the spiral staircase... just inside the shell, a door where there was the mouth of the shell and windows with the form of shells THE LEGEND : Years later Eduardo would be tickled to learn that the islanders had created a sort of legend which goes like this ... The fisherman of Isla Holbox met with the fisherman of Isla Mujeres to boast of their individual islands...Isla Holbox sounded "Our island is where you find the biggest fish in the world !" The fisherman of Isla Mujeres responded "We are proud to have the biggest shell in the world !" The biggest shell ? Yes the biggest shell !!! When we found it we made ceviche for all of the islanders...and then we sold it to a gringo that lives in it now !" Though the owners are not gringos...they still laugh when they hear the legend. Guests can use the BBQ and parking lot . Raquel and her daughter Vanessa are at the adjacent property . If you cannot find her for your needs you may interact with cleaning or pool staff or leave a message . The neighborhood is beautifully peaceful and quiet . At night it is very dark and very serene . A golf cart is necessary as the Seashell House is located in a residential area. I serve to make your stay possible as I wanted to share it with the world but Raquel is the owner ... Please treat the homes with respect so that she continues to enjoy renting
Residential area of Isla Mujeres is unique..away from the tourists and busy hotels...you can enjoy the stars at night and be incredibly tranquil.

  • The is still my dream house! Amazing how the concept of the sea shell is included in every detail of this house and garden. The communication before was very good organized and the hosting of the owner Raquel during our stay was just perfect. We had a great time and love to come back soon.

  • This place was AMAZING! Looks exactly like the pictures and has a beautiful view of the ocean. The host was great - super responsive and helpful. She even picked us up and arranged for a golf cart rental. The house is a little far from the "downtown" area so a golf cart rental was key. Loved everything about this, highly recommend!

    Jessie2016-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful trip! Many thanks to Vanessa and her mother for being our hosts! Since they live next door to Sea Shell House, they were quickly availble for assistance or to even get a restaurant suggestion. They helped us get a golf cart and offered to arrange snorkel and diving trips. If you are looking for peace and tranquility, Sea Shell House is perfect for you!

    Amy2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Really amazing home, it's rather famous for the island and everyone stops to take pictures of it! You'll want a golf cart booked because it's on other side of island. Family was extremely helpful when my friend got sick and even brought over medicine for him. You'll be happy to book this place, waking up each morning is like a Dr. Seuss dream. Slight issue on checkin with golf cart rental, make sure you call the number and speak personally with the owner as that person does not check Airbnb and my emails to her never arrived.

    Chad2017-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Really was an amazing house the floor plan, layout, and all the details and work that went into building this house. Mosquitoes are no joke but we were warned.

    Douglas2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, unique and quiet place to hang out on Isla Mujeres. Raquel and family are just as nice and helpful as can be. You must have a go-cart, which Raquel will set up for you. Highly recommend Oscar's (make sure if you order fish you ask if it's catch of the day or fresh) and Mango Cafe is a must (cash only). Stay away from Satay - expensive and food was cold. Rooster's has air conditioning and good food and super service. Na Balam has a wonderful setting and good food. Ask for Oscar at the Fenix next door - hit or miss on food but also a great atmosphere. Oscar will steer you in the right direction with the food. I had catch of the day and it was excellent.

Escape civilization to this incredible and peaceful getaway! Reconnect with nature and disconnect from technology on your own private deck surrounded by pristine and untouched nature just a short drive away from LA.
This is the personal Airstream of a nature-loving Malibu designer who built it as his personal getaway from his busy hectic schedule. Stripped down to its bare aluminum studs, the airstream has been redesigned into a large studio with three large frameless glass panels that slide open to a huge cantilevered deck with unrivaled views of the pristine Santa Monica mountains rolling down to the Pacific ocean below. Lounge in our luxury extra thick wool rugs and cotton poufs, drive down to surf one of Malibu's best breaks or go hike Sandstone Peak (Santa Monica's highest mountain). But whatever you do, make sure not to miss the incredible sunsets off our deck. At night, watch the milky way appear and count the constellations above or the moon reflect on the ocean below. And if the wind is right, listen to the sounds of the crashing waves travel up the canyon or even the seals barking down below. And then at dawn, if you're lucky with the morning fog, wake up above the clouds like you are the only person in this planet. VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT CLICK ON THE AIRBNB LINK FOR DIRECTIONS as it might take you to the wrong location. Only use the accurate directions provided on our itinerary. If you don't you might get lost and we are not responsible if you do not follow our easy and foolproof directions. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS LISTING if you are afraid of nature or its creatures. Understand you are surrounded by thousands of completely untouched nature. You are very likely to hear (or see) coyotes, owls, seals, roadrunners and bunnies. There is a bobcat in the area but these are usually very skittish. There are a mice in the Santa Monica mountains. About once a month, a guest will complain that they saw a mouse. Said mouse might come into the airstream if food is left outside the fridge. We do not offer refunds if a mouse comes into the airstream but we do have 4 traps around the airstream so the odds are heavily stacked against the mice. In three years we have yet to ever see a rattle snake near the airstream so the area is definitely not prone to them. This listing is weather dependent. If there is a high chance of rain scheduled during your stay we reserve the right to cancel the reservation due to potential slippery road conditions and the fact that we have to store all the expensive furniture inside the airstream. The beauty of this experience lies in seeing infinite views and yet no trace of humankind. Sleeping with the doors open, under the milky-way while hearing the ocean waves crashing below and the occasional seal barking in the distance or coyote howling for its pack. Our guests have the most special nights here. Reconnect with nature and disconnect from technology :-)
Circle x ranch, county line beach, matador beach, zuma as well as many other hikes are all less than 10mn away.

  • Best getaway!

    Mohammed2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is definitely a gem!! I will be definitely coming back and those images of the sunset are ingrained in my thoughts/memories forever. Such a special place and unique unlike any other. I can’t emphasize enough how beautiful it was. Wish I could’ve stayed extra days. Definitely follow her instructions on how to get there and you should have no problem. When I went it didn’t rain nor was it as cold so we were pretty lucky. Definitely bring food to cook. I stopped by the local markets before I got up to the location and it was pretty pricey. Come prepared! Thank you so much for sharing this special place with us! I will never forget.

    Nga2017-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • PEOPLE WITH GUNS! Walked right by the airstream. We had our 4 month old with us! ANTS,ANTS, ANTS! it's disgusting It rained and there was a lot of leaks even a LEAK ABOVE THE BED! We told the owners about our experience before leaving this review and they didn't want or care to help us at all Also it's very dangerous to get up and down!

    Acacia2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical place to stay! This was the perfect place for a relaxing, cozy stay in what felt like the middle of nowhere, but just an hour from LA. The views were spectacular. Everything looks exactly like the photos.

    Reyna2015-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at Rani's airstream. Make sure you read all the instructions! Because I did not and was lost on a mountain for an hour with no service. Do not use Waze, only (Hidden by Airbnb) maps. I also wouldn't drive here late at night, with all the rain California has got it made driving pretty scary. The drive is not for the faint of heart, or maybe I'm just a wuss. The place is absolutely breathtaking. If you're trying to escape, this is the place to go!

    Kate2017-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The airstream and location is absolute magic. I have never been anywhere like it! It was unfortunately foggy during my one night there, but even in dense fog it was still a dream -- like floating in a cloud. Rani's place is a slice of heaven. I am already planning on going back!

    Asia2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • It was so great!!! This is the most beautiful place I've ever stayed! We even saw a few shooting stars during the night! Unforgettable! Thank you so much for giving us such an amazing experience! Already plan to come back sometime next year~ words just cannot describe my feelings right now, haha, thank u so much

  • Unbelievable place, we had a great stay!

    Niclas2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Hideout! It is the most gorgeous bamboo home in a secluded area away from the hustle and bustle. You wouldn't think you were in Bali! Highly recommend to stay here for a quiet, relaxing stay by the river. Alena was great and answered all of our questions both before and during our trip.

  • Nous avons vécu des moments uniques et privilégiés dans un endroit magnifique.

    Alice2015-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you are all about nature, then Hideout is not a place to miss! Although its location is a lil' off the grid, but it really is ideal, and perfect, for those seeking for tranquility, bliss and peace. You will be charmed by the nature surrounding this little gem of a place... there's so much of luscious greenery in every direction to please the eye; with a gentle river that flows right beside, to calm your senses. We were greeted warmly by Pak Wayan with fresh papaya juice in hand, as we arrived. We ordered dinner with Pak Wayan of Satay (skewered meat) and curry chicken... the portions were generous, and the food tasty. Pak Wayan was very helpful and accommodating to all our requests. We were faced with water disruption late into the night, and called Pak Wayan with the handset provided by Hideout... without hesitation, Pak Wayan came almost immediately and rectified the problem for us within minutes. For that, we were really grateful. Waking up in the attic bedroom is such a delight, as you'll be greeted by a beautiful vista through the huge glass window. And watching the kitty and puppy play and hop about is pure joy. The pictures of Hideout are accurate, only more mesmerizing in real. Alena is very prompt with her replies, and a very thoughtful host. Though herself is not within Indonesia as we visited, she did assist us the best she could.

  • Thank you Ali and Mr Wayan. Will definitely be back for real and longer holiday next time!

    Levina2018-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • The place looks beautiful as you can hear the sound of river all day long. It is very peaceful and calm if you want to isolate yourself from the crowds. You can ask Wayan to prepare your food. But you can bring food outside, and cook for your self. Thanks Ali.

  • The friendly staff admit all their guests can only say Wow during the introductory tour! These architectural amazements promise to be a wonderful and unique experience. Don't even think about it...stay there! Sleeping requires the mosquito net, although the mosquitos aren't a terrible problem. Note: the Sunrise unit has but one of three A/C bedroom. Do know that you're out in the country, shop later. Good food, great staff, intriguing stories of construction all part of the Wow of Green Village.

  • We, a family of 4, had the best vacation there. It was a full experience of nature, culture, and relaxation. The location of the house made this possible. It is a short distance away from town but sits on a cliff covered with tropical greenery. The house itself is a unique work of art done with impressive craftsmanship. The staff is super friendly and helpful when needed. We can't wait to go back to this green village to try other bamboo houses.

  • What an experience! We stayed 3 nights for our honeymoon. Must love nature and be on the adventurous side. Great place to relax and enjoy the views of greenery surrounding the villa. Excellent staff and really happy with the food too! Thank you for a memorable visit.

  • I had a fantastic stay at Andrew’s bamboo house. The residence is more beautiful in person than pictures can show and it is truly a WOW moment as soon as you step through the glass circular entrance. From the arcitecture down to the copper and bamboo fittings throughout, this is one truly spectacular residence. The open plan on all levels makes it very spacious for a group of 3 or more. Some days you feel like the only person there. It was a great convenience having a full functional kitchen and the pool was very refreshing on those warm Bali days. The views from the house are amazing and even though there are no windows it is still relatively cool throughout and funnily enough myself and my guests did not have any problems with mosquitos. The Bamboo Village is only a 30 minute drive to Ubud town centre and this can easily be arranged through the staff on site for about AUD$30 return. There is always security within the village and I never felt like any question was too much trouble for the staff. It was great to meet Andrew and hear a little background on the Bamboo Village itself. I will certainly be recommending this residence to family and friends and would love to stay here again in the near future.

  • So first thing first. The house is as stunning as the pictures suggest. And once you are arrived, it has a magical feel, a uniqueness that makes it eminently worthwhile. Mirna and the housekeeping team are discreet yet helpful and the food absolutely delicious. The vegetables in particular are beyond words. The house was a perfect hub for our arrival and we spend 2 days not doing much apart from marvelling at the property. Also special kudos for the black lava soap and the natural bug repellent, and the quality of the linens, absolutely marvellous. But, and I am very surprised that this hasn't been mentioned more in the comments, there are a few things that are worth criticising, especially considering the very expensive price that is being asked. 1. communication We had issues getting answers from the managers, and as my wife is celiac, we needed some reassurance about food, which arrived pretty late in process. 2. property The pool was out of order and this was communicated to us not before, but casually during our visit. I don't think that's ok. Also, while the house is stunning, the surroundings aren't exactly as pictured on the Airbnb website. Again, nothing majorly wrong with it, but our first impression was a bit of deflation (quickly eliminated by the house and the view)

  • Exceptional experience in a totally nature environment. Really enjoy the fresh air and greenery atmosphere. The house is so stunning. Having breakfast in this environment was so enjoyable and relaxing.

Located in the coffee region, in the Andean mountains of Colombia, South America, a charming cabana made from bamboo, with a great view and a "sendero" or pathway through the bamboo forest which criss-crosses our 5 acre organic farm, leading down to a stream. A place to relax and commune with nature.
Surrounded by beautiful rainforest plants, strategically placed for privacy, with an outdoor shower in a garden. Commune with nature, listen to crickets and night and birds in the morning. Situated on a small organic farm. We grow tropical fruits and trees, flowers, with aloe vera as our main crop. There is an enchanting pathway through our bamboo forest, leading down to a mountain stream and a small waterfall. Near many coffee region tours and attractions, including our own organic farming workshops, visiting a nearby bee farm where our neighbor propagates bees in danger of extinction, local coffee tours, butterfly emporium, hang gliding, zip lining, white water rafting, horseback riding, hiking, visiting nearby historic towns and world heritage sites.
We are situated in the heart of the coffee region in the Andean mountains in Colombia. We are in "Vereda La Pradera" neighborhood, near the small town of "El Caimo", 20 minutes from Armenia and 20 minutes from the airport, by car. Close enough for comfort and easy access, far enough from the hustle of traffic and city noise that you can commune with nature. Sleep to the sound of the crickets and awaken to the sound of birds.
  • Super lindo lugar , realmente igual as fotos , perfeito para fugir do clima de cidade grande .

  • Yudy and Victoria's place is INCREDIBLE. It's the perfect little getaway away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The interior decorating of the home is impeccable and Yudy and Natalia (who live in the main house) are amazing. Yudy speaks very little English but we managed to communicate through hand gestures and (Hidden by Airbnb) Translate. The breakfasts were amazing and we paid for Yudy to cook us dinner one night and it was amazing! The home is definitely located far away from anything (like a (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) drive away from stores and restaurants down narrow dirt roads) but if you're looking for a getaway and something remote and beautiful, this is your spot!

    Brit2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed at the Cabana for 3 nights. This was the perfect amount of time to relax. The Cabana is beautiful, looking out into what seems like the middle of the Jungle from your huge bit comfy bed, with complete privacy from the main house which is approx 100 metres away. The bathroom and really warm hot shower is outside which was very cool. We enjoyed sitting in the Cabana with a glass of wine whilst the sun went down. It is however very remote and without your own car you will rely on getting taxi's (from the wonderful Hernando) out wherever you want to do. Hernando took us to a Coffee Plantation one day for tour and tasting and it had the most wonderful view over the valley, we certainly recommend. Yudy is great at helping to organise anything you want to do. We also ate at the main-house each night as we didn't want to get a taxi out. Food was simple, but very nice and nutritious.

    Steve2018-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly and helpful. A beautiful space to relax and get away from everyday life. I highly recommend!

    Rachel2018-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Cabana is very comfortable and we loved the peaceful surroundings and outdoor showers! You will see birds of all shapes and sizes as you laze on the balcony. We were very well taken care of and all 3 lunch/dinners that we had was delicious and well worth! Josh became great friends with the cats.. and now misses them. Car service by Mr Hernando was great. He was on time and when our bus was delayed by 2 hours, he was there waiting without any complains. Greatly appreciated that.

  • Definitivamente tal cual lo pactado, las instalaciones en excelentes condiciones y el trato de Yudy y su familia espectacular. Solo me queda por decir que fue muy agradable y relajante.

  • I traveled throughout Columbia. By far, Yudy and Victoria's cabana was superior in it's natural setting and tranquil vibe. Yudy, her family and staff, made me feel like I was welcome and at home. Yudy was the nicest and most accommodating host in Columbia! I will be coming back on an annual basis! Thank you Yudy, for your smile, your laughter and your great empanadas!

The Joshua Tree House is a two bed two bath 1949 hacienda located 10 minutes from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in Joshua Tree, CA. This is a place for dreamers to reset, reflect, and create. Designed with a 'slow' pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making local coffee by drip in the morning, choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, or by relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by over 100 Joshua Trees and a starry night sky.
Instagram: @thejoshuatreehouse (all photos tagged with #thejoshuatreehouse) This house is very close to downtown Joshua Tree with many shops and restaurants about a 10 minute walk from the house. This also means that some sound from the highway can be heard. If you're looking for a completely silent desert experience, we would recommend our other property: The Joshua Tree Casita (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10614974). Please also check that listing if you can't find the dates you're looking for. Welcome to the Joshua Tree House! This hacienda was built in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) With over 100 Joshua Trees on the property, the views from the house are magical. If you're up for it, sunrise on the front porch is incredible. We estimate that some of the larger Joshua Trees on the property are as old as our country! *Mattresses and Bedding by Casper* There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the house, and works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families. We can also set up an extra memory foam mattress in the hammock room (has privacy with pocket sliding doors) to accommodate groups of six.
Joshua Tree is a small community made up of musicians, artists, and explorers. In the village you will find locally owned and run restaurants, art galleries, music venues, and vintage shops. There are many wonderful places to visit during your stay at the house including the Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy & Harriet's, the Integratron, Salvation Mountain, the Salton Sea, Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum, Crossroads, BKB Ceramics, and la Copine (a delicious new french restaurant in the desert).
  • Where do I begin? From the first communication to checking out, our experience at the Joshua tree house was flawless. Every detail was thought of throughout the house, the finishes were beautiful and unique. Being familiar with the area is not necessary because the welcome booklet is so explanatory. Overall I would recommend this home to anyone looking to spend time in Joshua tree.

    Elizabeth2016-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay at Joshua tree house! It is truly a gem in the desert. Besides the amazing decor, it is very comfortable and has all the amenities you would need. It is also very close to all sorts of fun vintage shopping and delicious restaurants etc. We can't wait to return!

    Lauren2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what a special place. Stunning yet cosy. Perfectly suited to the area, and a stone's throw from the national park and great vintage shops and places to eat. Thanks so much Sara and Rich, wish we could have stayed longer. Also make sure to check out The Saloon nearby for a drink, great food and live music.

  • Stayed here for New Years with friends and loved it! The house was charming and comfortable, and the jacuzzi made it totally worthwhile. The location is great, close to town and the west entrance of the national park.

  • The property was exceptional. Unique, well managed, and just a wonderful experience. You won’t be disappointed!

    Pete2018-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • A truly beautiful space! It's pretty much my dream house and I was sad to leave. I plan on staying here again sometime in the future. The hosts were very responsive and accommodating. The house had all the amenities we needed and then some. We went to the National Park every day, and the location of the house couldn't have been more convenient for that.

    Svetlana2016-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing house! Perfect for a getaway with friends, in town and very close to the little restaurants and shops in Joshua Tree. We loved the hot tub, thoughtful decor, and overall experience. Would love to experience the house and property in the warmer months!

Appearing in numerous books on natural building, our cottage is a welcoming and cozy retreat hand sculpted of local, sustainable natural materials located on a lovely acreage with sheep, gardens and orchards.
Our neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. We are a ten minute walk from the beach and a twenty minute walk, in the other direction, to a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce, as well as galleries, a bookstore, and a spa.
  • I had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Alexis' cottage. It was cozy, the sheep and chickens were friendly, and it was great space for working. I recommend!

    Cathy2016-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough good things about this place. It is an amazing experience to stay at the cottage, Alexis and Manny are extremely friendly and helpful, and the cottage has everything you need and more (such as homemade banana bread waiting for you upon arrival, a fridge full of eggs from the hens on their farm, and great wifi connection). Most importantly it is very very very clean! I second all of the positive things in all of the other reviews, but my one complaint is that I did not stay long enough at this place to fully enjoy it and the beautiful nature of Mayne Island. If you have an opportunity to stay at the cob cottage you must. It is no surprise this is one of the highest-rated Airbnbs in the world, but you really have to experience it yourself to truly see why. I hope to be back soon, and for a much longer stay. Thank you Manny and Alexis : )

    Victor2016-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I loved this place! Alexis was very friendly and helpful. She left us fresh eggs, butter and banana bread. The cob house is adorable! It was so relaxing in the evening lighting the fireplace, candles and listening to the frogs outside. The island is beautiful and everyone is very friendly. My wife wants to move to Canada now because of all the wonderful people and the great experiences we have had visiting Mayne, Victoria and Vancouver. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the cob house to friends and family.

    Ken2016-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our few days in the Cottage - it really is a very fun and unique place to stay, especially if you're coming from the city. The island is quiet and beautiful and the perfect place to decompress. We are keen to come back and stay longer, explore the island, do some hikes, kayak etc. Alexis, was great in helping us with a lift back to the ferry and we thoroughly enjoyed her bread + eggs! We didn't want to come back to Vancouver.

    Thomas2014-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cob cottage is amazing! My boyfriend and I loved staying here. It's one of our favourite places we've ever stayed in! Alexis and her family were so welcoming and helpful. Thanks again for the delicious banana bread and really early lift to the ferry station. We really wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back one day!

    Susan2014-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was absolutely perfect! Right as we entered the cottage, we were greeted with freshly cooked banana bread, eggs from the chickens on the property, and a jar of milk. This alone shows how much Alexis & Manny care for everyone who stays here. The cottage is just as you see in the pictures, there are no surprises here. It has a really unique coziness to it, nothing like i've experienced before. We will definitely be back in the near future

    Kevin2015-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first AirBNB experience, and I can't speak highly enough about what a great experience it was. The cottage itself is a magical space that feels unlike any other space I've ever been in. It's refreshing in its simplicity without feeling like you're inconvenienced by your distance from the real world. Alexis had a fire burning when we arrived, as well as a fridge stocked with eggs, butter, milk, and some fresh baked bread on the counter. My wife and I truly feel blessed for finding this cottage, and getting away from the city and enjoying a day of country/island life. My only complaint was that we didn't allow ourselves a longer stay in the cottage! I really look forward to taking another trip out to explore Mayne Island and hopefully have an extended stay at this cottage!

    Greg2014-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend a visit to this unique home. The house is even more charming in person than the photographs illustrate. Mayne Island is beautiful and quiet. Alexis is a lovely and friendly host. She had left us a loaf of homemade banana bread as well as fresh eggs, butter, and milk. The bed and bedding was super cozy and comfortable. We spent our time there relaxing and exploring. A great getaway for those looking to experience nature, peace and quiet. The ferry was surprisingly expensive and infrequent but was also a fun ride and a chance to see all the mountains.

Sept. 20th is now open - this could be your chance to stay here. With a geodesic dome loft & a large deck in the trees, you'll feel like you're in a tree house in the woods. Since we book so far in advance, if you would like to stay here, check out our other listing, the Hummingbird Haven: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6562632. We have been listing with airbnb since July '09 and have had the most reservations of any of their listings! But you've got to plan ahead if you want to stay here.
We have 10 acres next to land without fences so you will get to enjoy nature: just hang out on the deck, take a hike in the woods, watch the hummingbirds, pet the goats, go to the beach or gaze at the stars - as long as the moon isn't full. ; ) During the summer, if there isn't any nightly fog, we can see the Milky Way here. To check our availability, click on the "Request to Book" link. And yes, if it isn't available, it is already booked! If you want to stay here on a weekend, you will usually need to make your reservation request about 9-11 months in advance. (Please read all of this description before making a reservation request.) The cozy and clean semi-rustic cabin has a loft under a geodesic dome (the "mushroom cap"). In the loft is a Queen-sized super popular Casper Mattress which allows for very comfortable sleeping and just hanging out. We provide clean sheets and pillow cases. Plenty of blankets are also provided. The other "bed" is a couch that we can make up into a bed. If there are going to be 2 of you, but you want separate beds, please make the reservation for 3 or let me know ahead of time - there is a $10. charge for using it as a bed. In the loft, we have a 32" HD Flat Screen and a DVD player (no TV) for movies. (We have over 80 movies you can view as well.) On the main floor (a Pentagon) is the couch and a pull-out table. We provide a small refrigerator, a blender, Hot Air Popcorn Popper, French Coffee Press, an Electric Water Kettle, (ask about our other appliances) a salad spinner and dishes. Yes, we have a wine opener. We have 2 tables where you can enjoy meals, games, etc.: 1 inside and 1 outside on the large deck that faces the redwoods. We also have a barbecue grill on the deck with an extra gas burner on the side. We provide Organic Coffee, teas, Oatmeal, popcorn, butter, honey, sugar, nutritional yeast (for the popcorn!) spices, oil and vinegar and various snacks. Our well water is treated by an ozonator, a UV light and a soft water filter. If you have a baby and you won't be needing the second bed, make your reservation for 2 and let us know if you will need a small pad for the loft. Again, if there are 2 of you but you want to use the second bed, please make your reservation for 3. The cute bathroom has a Travertine shower, custom tiled sink and a Natures Head self-contained composting toilet. Some guests have had a problem with our bathroom, so I want to make it clear that we have a curtain for the door to the bathroom and we require that you put your used toilet paper in the trash. (it won't smell) If you follow the instructions for how to use the toilet, it won't have any odor. If the thought of using a composting toilet grosses you out, then don't make a reservation here. ; ) We provide towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hair blow-dryer, etc. (a word of caution: the bathroom has a low ceiling. If you are over 6' you may have to do a little ducking here and there.) As Saturdays are very much in demand, (and we like to be free on Saturdays), we require a minimum 2 day stay on the weekends. Keep in mind that Friday and Saturday nights are $155. - $160. each. Therefore, to stay here on a weekend will cost $310. $360. plus the $35. cleaning fee, the $41 airbnb fee and the 11% Santa Cruz County Transient Tax of about $42. So for the weekend, it will be a total of at least $428. To stay for 1 day mid-week costs a grand total of about $200. On 3 day holidays, we require a 3 day reservation. (This includes Presidents Day, Memorial Day, M.L.King day, and Labor Day.) But to stay here on a weekend, you will usually have to book the cabin 6 - 8 months in advance - unless you are lucky to find a cancellation! Check-in time is between 4 and 10pm. If you want to come sooner or later, this can sometimes be arranged. Check-out time is noon. As we have experienced some damage from guests, we are now requiring a $100. security deposit. Although it feels very isolated here, we are less than 10 minutes to Aptos Village where you will find stores, restaurants, a health food store, Safeway, etc. We are centrally located on the Monterey Bay: 10 minutes from the beach (Rio Del Mar and Seacliff State Beach) as well as the 10,000 acre Nisene Marks State Park for miles of hiking or dirt biking in the Redwoods and along Aptos creek. We are 20 minutes to downtown Santa Cruz, 25 min. to the Beach Boardwalk, 45 minutes to Monterey and the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, 50 min. to Carmel and 1 1/2 hours to Big Sur going south and San Francisco to the North. Yup, we are located in one of the most beautiful areas of California. (these times are not during rush hour(s) ; ) If you love hummingbirds, bring your camera. Our garden is the year-round home to many Anna Hummingbirds. (We usually have about 250-500 year-round) During the summer, we are also called home by many Rufus and Allen Hummers as well. So you have got to see our "Hummingbird Airport" where we feed them about 120 oz. of syrup on a summer day! Please, no smoking in the cabin or on the property. We used to let smokers stay here, but they stink up the cabin and it is a fire hazard outside. Some cell phones don't work here, but since we have free wifi in the cabin, if your phone works with a wifi network, you are good to call. You can sometimes get Verizon service on the swinging seat by the driveway. To learn about things to do in the area, do an internet search for Santa Cruz, CA. Dogs are welcome to stay here but with a few requirements: since we have so many animals, we require that your dogs be kept on a leash when outside (the goats get very nervous with large loose dogs). Also, we don't allow dogs in the loft or on the couch downstairs so please bring a doggie bed. (your doggie can go on the couch if you bring a cover for it) If that is difficult, let us know and we will provide a doggie pillow. We have a gate that we can set up so your dog can be off the leash on the deck. If you are bringing a small child, we can put a folding futon (2/3rds of the futon or a foam pad next to the bed ) Just let us know ahead of time. Keep in mind, though, that a child should not be left in the loft by themselves as the bed is fairly high up against the rail. As we are about 3 miles to the nearest bus stop, it is pretty difficult to stay here without a car. You are invited, if you feel you would be harmonious here. Pet the goats, check out our chickens, cats, miniature dog and enjoy the very fresh air. I might even teach you how to milk a goat. If you come here when there is no moonlight and the sky is clear, you will see lots of stars. Tired of the heat in the summer? Since we are on the edge of the "fog belt", it can be both sunny and cool here. If you want a noisy place, you won't like it here: most of the sound here comes from the birds or crickets chirping, the tree frogs croaking and the breeze blowing through the trees. People do live on the land here though, so don't expect it to be totally devoid of human sounds and the occasional chain saw. : ) (We feed the goats oak branches)
Even though we live only a 8 minute drive to Aptos village and the beaches, it feels very remote and private here. It is usually very quiet at night - sometimes we can hear the ocean waves crashing on the beach. There is lots of land to hike on and explore here as well. We have 11 people living here in a rather loose community.
  • Thank you for a great experience! My parents and I enjoyed walking through the redwoods!

    Priscilla2012-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderfully charming and very rustic! Had a marvelous short overnight stay. There are chickens, goats, cats and hundreds of hummingbirds on the property (along with a few tenants too). The hosts are very friendly, but not intrusive. Kitty gave me fresh goat's milk and whey (from her cheese making ventures), which I'm thoroughly enjoying. The cabin is small, but can easily accommodate 2 people. Although you'll need to climb a ladder to get to the bed. It's well appointed and even has a BBQ and rocker on the porch. I learned about their 'brown water bog' which was something I'd never heard of. All in all it was a great experience and I wish I had been able to stay longer~ I'd definitely return! Thank You~!!

    Shelly2012-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful, private, and tranquil place. The cabin is cozy and fun. It's a great example of how we can live in much smaller spaces and feel comfortable. Sleeping in the loft with an open view to the trees, made me feel like I was in a warm tree house. Both the surrounding property and the people we met were nice. Kitty, who is a wonderful host, gave us some fresh goat milk for breakfast. In one weekend, we had the experience of a mountain getaway and a beach vacation, as the coast is a short drive away. We'll likely return as this was a memorable stay.

  • We loved our time at the Mushroom Dome. It's a cozy little place that's outfitted with everything you could need. The bed is comfy and waking up to see the forest through the geodesic dome is an incredible experience. The property itself is beautiful, with redwood trees, pampas grass, and colorful flowers. The goats and chickens were an unexpected surprise (and luckily not too loud early in the morning!) as were all the kitties we met around the property. Our only disappointment was the fact that Kitty and Michael weren't there, so we didn't get to learn as much about their philosophy as we would have liked.

  • If you're looking for a tiny house experience or just a redwoods embracing getaway, this is your place ! My dog and I chilled, listened to the silence, visited with the (enormous) goats, were visited daily by 3 cute dogettes and just generally had a *great time*. A magical experience. JT

    Jaylan 2013-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical experience! Kitty and Michael are exceptional hosts and the space is amazing. We loved exploring during the day and coming back to cozy up in the Mushroom Dome in the evening to cook, play games, and relax. Kitty showed us the hummingbirds as well as her other property the Hummingbird Haven and we can't wait to come back to stay again :)

    Shanza2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Kitty did a fantastic job making us feel extremely welcome--feeding us delicious goat milk from the goats, giving us a storied history of how she built the dome of the cabin herself, answering all our questions and giving us advice on what to do around the area, showing us the hummingbirds and her wonderful pets--dogs, cats, chickens, the list goes on. She also provided lots of thoughtful amenities such as chocolates, extremely soft blankets, extra towels, popcorn, tea/coffee, and more. The nearby woods were very peaceful and beautiful, and it really was a magical experience to walk down the wooden staircase to this secluded little haven and sleep next to the trees and stars in sight. I can't even begin to put into words how truly unique of a stay this place is--no wonder it used to be ranked the #1 place on Airbnb; every weekend from now is booked out until May! Also, if you have time to explore when you're in the area, I highly recommend Panther Beach! It's very secluded and the views are lovely. Thank you so much Kitty and Michael for the amazing experience--we definitely hope to be back soon!

  • The Mushroom Dome is as awesome as it looks. It's secluded enough for privacy but close enough to Kitty's home to enjoy her amazing property, which features goats, hummingbirds, chickens, cats, dogs, hummingbirds, a garden, and much more. Kitty is full of energy, knowledge, and warmth, and getting to know her was a blast. Grilling on our final night was a memorable experience. Overall, I couldn't recommend the Dome any higher! You must see it for yourself.

This inspired dwelling nestled right into the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge mountainside. Reverently framed by the iconic round doorway, the wondrous views will entrance your imagination and inspire an unforgettable journey. Every nook of this little habitation will warm your sole, every cranny will charm your expedition of repose. Up the pathway, tucked into the earth, an unbelievable adventure awaits!
The majority of your neighbors will be deer, rabbits, birds & grouse. It's 2 miles up the mountain and although there are houses it gets more remote the closer you get to the hobbit hole.
  • Kristie is the most excellent of hosts. She has created pure magic in this Hobbit Hole on the mountain. My fiancé and I couldn't have been happier with our 2-night stay en route from Vancouver to Boise. Be sure and take a bath in the enormous tub, and take advantage of all of the hiking through the hills of Orondo. Most importantly, be sure and read the complimentary copy of The Hobbit on the front lawn any and all times of the day. We will most definitely return to this magical mystery land again. Thank you Kristie!

  • My husband and I stayed her during our honeymoon and it was SO MUCH FUN! We were able to unplug and just be the two of us, playing countless matches of chess and sitting outside enjoying the view with wine and beer. Altogether and amazing spot that is so unique. Would definitely recommend a stay here!

    Lisa2018-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the end of February this year. Our host, Kristie, was very communicative before our trip and sent us loads of helpful information. Aside from the obvious magical allure you can see in the photos, Kristie added a number of fun, thoughtful touches that delighted us throughout our stay. There was still a good bit of snow surrounding the property and we were so thankful for the tip from Kristie about the much-needed four-wheel drive and for the gas fireplace inside that kept us toasty. The nearby towns are pretty sleepy around this time of year so if you’re interested in festivals and events, other times of year would be best, according to the locals we spoke to. It is also truly off the grid, so be prepared to unplug and unwind because you won’t be getting WiFi or much phone signal inside.

  • I surprised my partner with a stay at the Hobbit Inn on Christmas Eve night. The road up to it was a lot more treterous than I imagined. Even with chains on our rig, we crawled slowly along. All of the driving mishaps did not deter us from getting there and once we did, we found ourselves in a winter wonderland! Even though the pipes were frozen, we still had a blast! In the future, I'll only book a stay at the Hobbit Inn during the spring or summer.

    Melody2016-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Hobbit Hole was such a fun getaway! My husband and I (and our three dogs!) loved all the unique touches and the chance to really get away from everything. Such a beautiful setting and gorgeous view! Thank you, Kristie!

  • Excellent place. Views can't get any better. The walk and the drive we're not difficult at all. Views are breathtaking

    Vysakh2018-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Took a 4 wheel drive SUV and made it to the parking area fine. Snow was deep so hiking was limited. Beautiful views!!!! So quiet too!

    Joy2018-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • "It's dangerous business going out your front door." We faced the pass, feeling much like the fellowship trying to cross Caradhras. But we made it and were rewarded with this magical hobbit hole. "If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world." Our stay was perfect. We were warm by the fire, cozy in the bed, and full of adventure every time we looked outside. Truly, a home Bilbo would be proud of. "Still round the corner there may wait, a new road or a secret gate."

The Eden Valley is the quiet side of the county of Cumbria in North West England, naturally beautiful quiet & away from the crowds of the nearby national parks of the The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales . Its not remote , is very easy to get to but still feels well off the beaten track.

  • Beautiful castle and comfortable room. While it might take a bit of a journey to get from London to here, it's well worth it. Wendy and Simon are great hosts and their home is simply gorgeous. Do take advantage of the meals offered as they were quite tasty! At the Kirkby Stephen rail station you cannot pick up tickets. This is important to note as tickets not purchased in advance online are much more expensive. Do yourself a favour if coming by rail and buy a return ticket and pick them both up at Leeds when you make the change if coming from London.

The Off-grid itHouse brings together raw industrial aesthetics with the tactics of green design to forge a new home in the sunbaked wilds of the California high desert.
The Off-grid itHouse is an architecturally significant house, recently noted by Dwell as one of the 'Best Homes in America' and in the Los Angeles Times as one of the best houses of all time in Southern California. The Off-grid itHouse is one of 10 IT Houses built in California, which have received much acclaim such as the Western Home award sponsored by Sunset magazine. Also noted as one of the top 10 airbnb rentals worldwide. This is the prototype for the pre-engineered system known as the IT House. The house is 100% off-grid, powered by solar panels for energy and hot water, and is located in a pristine remote valley in the beautiful California high desert. The house observes key green principals of smaller footprint, minimal disturbance to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, use of renewable resources, and living simply and minimally. The setting of the house is remote and serene, a quiet refuge from everything, free from distractions. Amazing views and vistas in all directions. Perfect for design or green aficionados, writers or those needing a secluded quiet getaway.
Located in Pioneertown, CA, nearby several unique attractions, Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy and Harriets Pioneertown Palace, local museums and art venues such as the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, the Integratron, and other seasonal events.
  • It-house is just an amazing place in the middle of nowhere.. Our two children – 6 and 10 – really enjoyed the 3 nights of our stay there. I recommend it to everyone to spend two or three days there.. You’ll get in a totally different world, but still with all comfort that you have in normal life No doubt, this is a wonderful getaway for those who want to try something different while still living in comfort.

  • Linda's home is extraordinary and deserves all of the glowing reviews to date. From the secluded location and gorgeous external landscape, to the impeccable, minimalist design aesthetic of the interior, I would highly recommend this amazing place for a desert getaway. Beyond enjoying the panoramic views and hiking in the immediate vicinity, you don't need much else in the way of entertainment, but the house also boasts a thoughtful, well-stocked kitchen, a great book collection (particularly exciting selection if you too are a visual artist), board games, and two different fireplaces. Linda is a gracious host, responding quickly and providing a nice welcome packet of info for the house and surrounding area. We were sad to leave, and hope to visit again.

    Robyn2014-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The property is amazing. We used it for a commercial photoshoot and every backdrop was stunning, indoor and out. Keep in mind that the house is VERY remote. Wi-Fi was recently added, but other than that you're entirely out of contact, and it's easily half an hour to the nearest town. If you're looking to get away, though, this place is highly recommended.

    Angus2016-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I have been fortunate to travel often and we would rank this place and Linda's home as one of our top five experiences. We came for our babymoon and this experience offered us the perfect opportunity to disconnect. The house itself is worthy of every award and praise it has received. Although you're off the grid, you do not feel as though you are without any luxury and waking up to the desert breeze and the view is simply magical. The house is located about 12 minutes from Pioneertown where we enjoyed a night out at Pappy's and Harriet (make reservations). Prior to our rental, we also spent time in Joshua Tree National Park - I would have to say the surrounding area of this house is like having your own Joshua Tree Park in your backyard. We will be back and can't wait to share this amazing place with friends and family. Thank you, Linda!

    Raquel2016-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical and breathtaking place! Stunning, spotless, serene. I feel privileged to have been able to stay in Linda's impeccably designed house. My stay was fantastic and I hope I can return again in the near future.

    Celeste2014-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • What an experience! My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the beginning of our vacation and it was the perfect way to begin relaxing, unplug and unwind. The house is very cool, all steel and glass with amazing views...really no reason to even venture out to Joshua Tree (we did though) it's right there all around you. We stopped at the store like Linda suggested even picking up a styrofoam cooler to keep ice for our cocktails in the evening. The weather was cold and windy, but that was more of a reason to stay inside, build a fire, nap, play cards, eat and read (I brought my headlamp to read in the evening so we could keep the lights off, not only to save energy, but to gaze at all the stars). The sun was out though so we had plenty of solar to heat the water for showers and cook with. We ate dinner one evening at Pappy and Harriets down the road in Pioneertown; we didn't make a reservation in time, but arrived when the doors open at 5pm and got a table right away. Bring you're appetites the portions are huge and yummy - we brought some home with us for left-overs the next evening. We highly recommend going "off the grid" at Linda's home, it's a great experience! Thank you!

    Denise2016-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great getaway for the family. The house and views are amazing can't wait to go back.

  • Linda's house is an incredible and one of a kind experience. We traveled there in a sedan, but would definitely recommend something with 4-wheel drive if you are planning to make a lot of trips in and out. We hiked through Gamma Gulch, visited the High Desert Test Sites, and got dinner at Pappi & Harriets.

And then it is very popular to drive the road skirting the beautiful western shore of the Eyjafjordur Fjord, visit the magnificent waterfalls, Goðafoss and Dettifoss, Dimmuborgir, Mývatn, the Grand Canyon of Jökulsárgljúfur and whale watching in Húsavík. It is also possible to take an organized day trip from Akureyri to the island of Grimsey, which straddles the Arctic Circle. It is easy to get to Akureyri! Icelandair is offering flights to Akureyri. So it is as well just a 45 Min. flight from Reykjavik downtown to Akureyri. It is only a 7km drive from the airport to our house. If you are driving, Akureyri is on the ringroad and is a approx. 5 to 6 hours drive from Reykjavik. To stay in vaðlaheiði you need a car. The property offers a quiet position and a great view. It is a easy access to the center of Akureyri and the beautiful places in its surroundings.
  • What a great location and apartment , very functional and stylish. A word of warning you need a car so rent a 4 WD as if it snows and the drive and street to the apartment gets icy (which it did on our day of departure) then you will have trouble getting out as its very slippery. Heres a hint to help just drive in reverse and you get a better result. Otherwise we loved the place and enjoyed cooking a home cooked meal and staying in at night . Loved it Peter thanks

  • Great cosy base for exploring the north of Iceland! Pétur's apartment is in the perfect location - right across the inlet from town, giving a panoramic view of the city, especially at night, as well as quiet and clear skies to look for northern lights in. The area is also just around an hour's drive away from the Mývatn area. The kitchen is functional and has all the necessary basics for making dinners, and the beds are comfortable. The extra blankets are a great touch for staying outdoors on the patio. Pétur's instructions are clear too (though reaching the place at night might be a bit tricky; as a previous user noted you're looking for a small turn-off to your right on route 828 just before the T-junction with route 832; easier to plot the exact lat/long into your GPS). Would definitely stay again if we return!

    Derrick2016-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is fantastic. Beautifully kept, stylishly done and a wonderful mezzanine level. Having coffee and eating dinner whilst looking out over the gorgeous vista of the fjord and Akureyri beyond is incredible. SOOOOOO relaxing. About 10-15mins by car from the town. We loved it and will definitely be back. Thank you to Mirra and Jorunn!

  • A beautiful flat with an outstanding view of Akureyri and the surrounding area. The location was perfect for day excursions which included hiking (Lake Myvatn), thermal baths (Jarobodin Nature Baths), whale watching (Husavik), waterfalls and kayaking in the fjord. The flat was clean and well-maintained with all common necessities for cooking and clean up provided. Inga Mirra was a perfect host and responded quickly to all inquiries. We highly recommend this rental!

    Ryan2013-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This flat is just as amazing as it looks in the pictures! It is very modern, clean and has an outstanding view. It is well equipped, warm and overall a great place to stay. Inga Mirra is a friendly host and communicating with her was very easy. The price is slightly higher than some of the other apartments in the area but to us, it was worth every penny! We had a very relaxing time here and it was perfectly situated close to Akureyri, Husavik and Myvatn.

    Mari2013-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in beautiful house. The view is incredible, also at night when the lights in Akureyri go on.

    Rosalina2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Inga's place in Akureyri was beautiful, we absolutely loved the heated floor in the apartment, it was awesome! The decoration is very modern and each item has been picked carefully to make you feel very relaxed. It is especially nice to have natural light everywhere. The only thing we would improve is the shower, since it sprinkles the entire bathroom. Although the house is split into three apartments, you barely notice the neighbors. We would definitely recommend Inga's apartment.

casaBARTHEL is a perfect place for a vacation and an artist residency, immersed in the Tuscan landscape only twenty minutes’ from the Duomo and one hour from Siena. Come and live with us: enjoy our olive trees, the kitchen garden, the tennis court and the small swimming pool. The TREEhouse is a romantic room immersed in the pine trees with fire place for the winter and AC for the summer. It offers a bedroom with a queen size bed, a small kitchenette with stove and fridge; a bathroom with shower, and a private outdoor terrace. And a fantastic view towards the Tuscan landscape! And if you want to see and know more about our passion for the interior design, the arts and crafts, and antiques you should come visit our design and make shop ‘Riccardo Barthel’ in Via dei Serragli n. 234 r, in the Santo Spirito district of Florence! At the beginning of the 1980 our family moved into the ‘Poggio Secco’ (Dry Hill) farmhouse, just outside Florence city center, in front of the Certosa dell’Ema. The compound had a big stone villa surrounded by olive trees, a compost hub, a pigeon house, a barn, a tall cypress tree and an old German shepherd dog. Everything in the farm was placed around a large terracotta courtyard, a sort of public square. Thirty years later the ‘Dry Hill’ is still our home and a small community that includes my mum Daniela, aunt and uncle Sandra and Nanni, me, my daughter Cristina and my husband Andrew. We all live here sharing the same love for the countryside, its olive oil, good food and the family lifestyle! The rent includes the use of the communal swimming pool and the tennis court; the dining porch with the BBQ and the wooden oven; dryer and washer; table tennis and football table, plus a car parking inside the property. We are glad to interact with our guests; you will be part of our large family! Galluzzo is a nice small village with everything you need:crocery stores and a nice farmers market open every day. The certosa monastery is a must. Le Corbusier was there to learn! There are public busses in Galluzzo to go to the city center and to go to Siena. But to get to our house and to enjoy the surrounding you should come by car!
  • The treehouse at CasaBarthel was everything we imagined and more. The property that the house is on is picturesque. The view from the room is amazing to wake up to, while also having the option of more privacy via full blinds. The room was relaxing with the option of ac/heating, oil diffuser, full bathroom, small kitchen, coffee pot, private balcony, fresh croissants every morning, and free range to roam the property. Was an easy drive to/from downtown Florence, as well. Staying at this airbnb was the highlight of our Italy trip. I've already recommended it to many friends and will continue to. Can't praise the house and the hosts enough.

  • Tucked into the hillside just a 13 minute drive from Florence, the tree house was a wonderful location to stay outside the city. Surrounded by olive trees and beauty, we truly enjoyed our short stay in this quiet, special place. We woke up to walk the property (and admire the countryside!) in the early morning and arrived to the lovely Elena with fresh croissants in hand. What a treat!

Accommodates two only, fully furnished, all linens, towels included. There is Satellite DTV and Wireless Internet on site. The cottage is situated on four acres including lovely gardens, beautiful lily pond, running brooks and 2 acre woods. Absolutely unique, one-of-a-kind experience! Please Note, the cottage has traditionally been a three season rental from approximately March- November, however, due to much interest and demand, we have recently added a larger capacity pellet stove and made winterizing efforts and plan on keeping it open for guests interested in a winter experience in the cottage! Please keep in mind that access to our grounds may be limited with the accumulation of snow in winter months. During predicted extreme weather events, we will gladly work with guests to change reservations as we are always concerned for their comfort! Our lovely grounds are open to our guests. There are garden paths, babbling brook with stone bridges, loveliest of lily ponds, stone bench seating area with 'chiminea' and firewood for guest's use. There are two acres of woods with a loop trail as well. The town has an exceptionally beautiful Swimming Pond about 2 miles away which our guests may use. There are BBQs and picnic tables and it is often deserted. While we do have a pet friendly policy, prior approval and acceptance of our rules and policies is required before a pet may stay with you in our accommodations. There is also a $25.00 additional pet cleaning charge. The cottage is located on the Santarella Estate surrounded by gardens and storybook architecture. Santarella is located in the Tyringham Valley, tucked away 3.5 miles from Mass. I-90, a lovely and magical place where one feels like they have stepped back in time. This is definitely a place to 'get away from it all', enjoy quiet, rural surroundings close to the Appalachian Trail and Tyringham Cobble for hiking and many lovely ponds for swimming or kayaking. Vehicle is necessary. Grocery and other shopping at 3.5 miles.
Tyringham Valley was one of the original settlements in Western Massachusetts. It is mostly agricultural conserved land giving it a very rural, bucolic and idyllic character. The lovely 'Hop Brook' runs through the middle of the valley which is sparsely populated with mostly historic homes, making one feel like they have stepped back in time. An original, beautifully preserved Shaker settlement sits on top of the hillside opposite Santarella, overlooking it. At the far end of the valley, the gracious columns of the burned Ashintully mansion overlook the entire valley and are all that remain of the gilded-age estate which has beautiful preserved formal gardens, great to visit and hike. The Appalachian Trail is 2.25 miles from the cottage.
  • Fairy tale magic awaits a stay at the Silo cottage. The grounds, the silo, exactly as described. Make sure to shut all the lights off and enjoy the night sky and fireflies while relaxing in the fairy tale bed. My daughter said many times that she felt like she was in a fairy tale! The hosts provided all that was needed for a lovely stay.

    Johanna2018-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • As you read the reviews for this space, you will see the word "magical" over and over and that is exactly what this place is. Even in this unexpected rainy/snowy, gloomy April, Santarella was amazingly beautiful. Dennis and Denise made us feel so comfortable and helped me to make an amazing proposal getaway for my fiance. I can't wait to go back!

    Michelle2018-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Silo Studio was just as beautiful in person. I can see this as a great location for a wedding or other gathering. Denise was very responsive and welcoming. This is a wonderful nature retreat.

    Sherianne2014-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • I felt very welcome in staying at this airbnb. Denise was very communicative beforehand, had a hot fire and wine ready for us when we got there, and showed us around the cottage. She had a list of things to do in the area and also mentioned some of this in email beforehand when I had asked. The area is beautiful and it was really lovely to come home in the evenings and sit in the main area with a nice roaring fire.

    Farah2016-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at the Silo Studio Cottage! It was even lovelier than the photos suggest - the location, the grounds, and the silo are just magical! And you couldn't ask for lovelier hosts, Denise and Dennis, embody the spirit of kindness and generosity. If you want a truly romantic, rustic getaway - the silo should be at the top of your list.

    Rafael2017-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great its like out of a fairytale! I'd come and stay again.

    Anton2018-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was my boyfriend and I's first Airbnb experience as well as our first trip to the Berkshires and I am glad we found such a neat place that left a wonderful impression. The property is even prettier than in the pictures and the hosts, Denise and Dennis are friendly and helpful. They provided lots of great suggestions for local food and activities as well. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay in Western Massachusetts!

    Noelle2018-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Denise and Dennis couldn't have been warmer, more down-to-earth, or more helpful. Denise sent extensive details in advance of our arrival regarding use of the property, directions to get there, as well as A LOT of suggestions for places to go and things to do nearby (tip: eat at Dream Away Lodge in Becket - you won't regret it). The property itself, I mean, what can I say? It is truly magical, spectacular, and unique. The silo studio is definitely just enough space for 2 (well, 2.5 if you count that we brought our pup) but has basic amenities enough for a weekend. The owners gave us a bottle of bubbly, which was a really romantic touch, since the whole scene, from the canopied bed upstairs which you can lie in while looking up at the magnificent windows and listen to the babbling brook outside, is romanticism at its core. The grounds were a lovely place to stroll with loads of trees, moss, ferns, colorful wildflowers, and even a lily pond! Denise and Dennis were around if we needed them but otherwise, it all felt very private and quiet. It did get a bit chilly at night and in the mornings, even for early June, so we took advantage of the mattress warmers and the pellet stove. Thoughtful touches. My partner and I have stayed in a lot of AirBnBs across the country, with one of our dogs in tow most of the time, and this property will definitely stick out in my mind for years to come. We loved our stay and would HIGHLY recommend staying here. But book ASAP as they are in-demand!

  • We loved our stay at the windmill. From the moment we arrived Clare was extremely hospitable from the small touches of fresh eggs, homemade bread, fruit and milk that was left for us, to her sharing of the knowledge of the windmill and local area. You'll not want to leave this oasis of calm. Thanks again Clare!

    Ashley2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend this windmill as a great place to relax and unwind. It is finished to a very high specification, with lots of special touches included. Clare is a great host.

    Chris2018-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing Experience. When we got to know Clare did the design herself, just one word "impressive".

    Cyan2015-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderfully quiet and beautiful way to spend a valentines weekend. The windmill has been refurbished perfectly in every way. We loved every minute we spent there and were very sad to leave. In spite of the weather this magical place will be remembered for a long time to come! thanks clare

    Nik2016-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • It was our first holiday in the English countryside and we couldn't be happier of our choice. The mill has been wonderfully restored, and just being there is a pleasure. It also is in a very convenient location for exploring the surroundings. Clare has been very welcoming, we could never thank her enough for this unforgettable week.

    Ivana2014-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect little bolt hole straight after our wedding! The windmill is absolutely gorgeous: decorated so tastefully and sparkling clean. The space is homely but very stylish. We had a wonderful couple of days just chilling out and catching up after our wedding. Communication was great and everything went smoothly, we could not recommend this more!

    Lauren2017-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic welcoming stay with amazing views night and day.

    Jon2015-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great 3 night stay here. My wife and I were looking for somewhere to relax for a few days after our wedding and this fitted the bill perfectly. The windmill has been converted in such a clever way - it has retained a lot of the original features but has all of the modern amenities you would expect. Clare was very helpful in advising on walks, activities and places to eat. Was a memorable few days.

Red cinder leads you through the dense jungle to your secluded bamboo treehouse. Nestled on top of stilts 15' up in the canopy of the local flora, ascend to your retreat via the trapdoor or begin your adventure in Volcano National Park 10 miles away.
Upon arrival, let the red cinder path be your yellow brick road as you are lead through the jungle to your personal paradise. At ground level you will encounter a hanging bed, suspended beneath the floor of your new living quarters. Stop and relax or continue up the staircase to the trapdoor. It is through this trapdoor that you are allowed access to the lanai amongst the canopy of trees. A beautiful wrap around lanai allows for a 360 degree view of the lush jungle, while two sliding glass doors grant access to the bedroom. Upon entering, you will notice that the generous windows and doors allow for natural sunlight to flood into the house, complementing the bamboo fixtures and vintage 1970s wallpaper that backs the bed. The white bed linens reflect the light giving a dreamy, cloud-like aura to the space. There is counter stocked with a local coffee and snacks nestled into a corner of the house and overlooked by the handcrafted porthole windows. Bamboo backed cubby holes and hangers furnish the wall behind you and create an elegant, minimalist closet space for you to store your personal items for the duration of your stay. Just past the closet is a sliding door that accesses one of the most fun areas of the house: the bathroom. The bathroom jalousie windows stretch from the floor to the ceiling and the horizontal glass plates open up, creating an indoor-outdoor effect. Naturally caught rainwater cascades from the large shower head above before disappearing into the floor boards below. You'll notice that the natural theme spills over into the bathroom with sustainable cork board backing the shower and air plants intermittently growing throughout. The toilet and hand-made rock sink in the corner make use of grey water eco-principles by allowing you to wash your hands with fresh water before it goes on to fill the bowl. One of the most fun aspects of this property is that it allows you the opportunity to experience true off-grid living without sacrificing any of the comforts of normal life. Natural lighting, solar power and rain water catchment are the three principles that have been integrated into this tree top design, making it almost like a living organism itself. The beauty of this high flying haven is in the details. I spent the better part of three months personally constructing the building as well as the accessories inside. My goal was to create a customized and secluded space for your occasion. The chandelier, hanging lights, port-hole windows, rock sink and platform bed were all DIY projects that I specifically created to enhance your experience. The bamboo pillars that 'support' the lanai and the moss carpet under the hanging bed were harvested from local areas on the Big Island. IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION Don't worry, the capital letters are just to emphasize importance. I'm not mad at you. But please read this entire section before making a reservation. As lush and inviting as the Dreamy Tropical Treehouse is, there are inevitable 'challenges' that come with staying in an off-grid treehouse in the Hawaiian jungle. My goal is give you an experience that combines adventure and luxury so I want to make sure that you are aware of the following things: 1. The treehouse is about 15-feet off the ground and is only accessible by the 'ladder-stairs'. 'Ladder-stairs' is just another way of saying 'very steep' stairs. There is a hand railing and none of my visitors have ever had a problem going up and down. There is a pulley system for hoisting up your bags. Only those who believe they are physically capable should book a stay. Just remember to go up and down facing them... like a ladder! 2. The running water comes from the rain falling on the roof and is not treated; therefore, the water is not potable. I will provide several bottles of drinking water. 3. The electricity you use is generated by sunlight and is stored in a battery. Once the battery runs out of power it has to recharge. This shouldn’t happen but just be mindful not to leave lights or power hungry items running for extended periods of time (No hairdryers). The windows allow for plenty of light during the day. 4. This is the rainy side of the Big Island so expect some showers! Realize that the pitter-patter on the roof is the rain's first stop on its journey to the water tanks and then to your shower. Also notice how warm it is. Don't think of rain as a trip ruiner but instead an asset to be enjoyed! 5. There are bugs but this isn't the Amazon. For such a tropical climate you will be surprised at how few bugs there are. The main things you will see are moths, fruit flies (due to fruit falling off of the trees) and mosquitoes. Bug repellent is provided but it never hurts to bring your own. They really don't get that bad but their presence increases after a hard rain and during the twilight hours. Luckily, the hanging bed has mosquito netting that drapes down to encompass it. 6. Noises. Living off-grid in the jungle also brings about its own set of noises. The water pump and solar inverter will make soft noises throughout the day as they are used. The falling fruit from the vivie trees can also be alarming if you don't know what it is, and at night you are going to be serenaded by the sweet chirping of coqui frogs. Rustling branches, grunts and squeals typically means that the cute family of wild pigs is nearby. They are harmless and will runoff as soon as they sense your presence. Quietly grab the binoculars and, if you are lucky, may catch a glimpse of them! All of these aspects are what makes this place so unique and, with the right mindset, only enhance your overall experience. Guests have free range to fully utilize every aspect of the house. The hanging bed, wrap-around porch, indoor-outdoor shower and closet are at your full disposal. I have recently installed a kitchenette that has a sink, cooler for storing food/drinks, and a coffee maker (also capable of heating up water). Any and all goodies stocked in the house are there for your enjoyment. Here is a more comprehensive list of amenities and features that will be available to you: •Indoor/Outdoor Shower •Toilet with Overlaid Sink •Organic Shampoo/Conditioner •Towels •Ample Parking •Tiki Torch ‘Flashlights’ •Hanging Bed •Table and Chairs for Lanai •Binoculars •Several Books •Outlets (3-prong and USB) •Kitchen Sink •Coffee Maker •Clean Linens •Gramophone Music Player for iPhones •Cooler for Food/Drink •Card Game Guest interaction can be tailored to your needs. My goal is to make sure your stay is unforgettable so you can always contact me via phone or email. Because I do not live on the island year round, a local neighbor can assist you if you have any problems that need tending to. Upon your arrival I can arrange to have someone greet you and show you the property or simply stow away the key for your convenience. The choice, of course, is yours. Even though I am not on site, I can always be reached. Feel free to call/text/email me at any time during your stay should the unlikely event that a problem arises. I will immediately contact the proper authority to have the problem remedied. The treehouse is located at the end of a neighborhood street making it very private. It is set about 50 yards off the street behind a windy, jungle path further adding to your privacy. There are only about five full time neighbors scattered throughout the neighborhood so don't expect to see a lot of people. The treehouse is about 20 miles from Hilo, 23 miles from Pahoa, 12 miles from Keaau and 8 miles from Volcano. Volcano is the closest place for laundry, good restaurants and groceries, though you will pay a little more for the groceries than in Hilo or Keaau. I recommend you stop on your way in from Hilo. When you book I will include a guidebook that has the locations, hours and prices of local restaurants and grocery stores. There is quick access to highway 11 and it is 10 miles from Volcanoes National Park. Numerous opportunities for sightseeing and adventures are within a 40 minute drive of this treehouse paradise and they will be included in my guest guidebook as well. This is the ultimate spot for couples seeking romantic seclusion in the middle of a tropical jungle or individuals who want to escape the world. Unless you feel like hitchhiking, you will definitely need a rental car to comfortably explore the surrounding areas and access the treehouse. While nothing is 'far' on the big island, everything is just a bit out of reach by foot... except of course for those lovely, yet dense, jungle strolls. • It truly feels like a dream as you walk down the path to your tropical treehouse! The perfect romantic getaway for any couple visiting the Big Island. Private and secluded yet an easy drive to endless adventures, dining and (almost) anything else your heart desires. Kristie and her team are very helpful and have some great tips in their guidebook. So leave a day or two open for an off the beaten path adventure!

  • WOW! This place was amazing. It was so picturesque and such a neat place to live even for just a few nights. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights during our Honeymoon. Kristie was very helpful - e mailing a detailed document of rules, suggestions, tips, things to do, info about the treehouse itself, and more. The actual treehouse was spotless and looked just like the pictures. It is legit in the woods and there's something you just can't describe in words how magical it feels! It's so quiet and private and just unique. We loved it and would totally recommend it to anyone in the future!

    Aimee2016-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • You know when you dream about a hidden tropical escape? This is it and more. The road was rocky but take it slow and you'll soon find yourself in paradise. We were concerned about bug bites but Kristie has planned for it all. The shower and swing were definitely our favorite parts. It was an amazing start to our big island adventure. Listening to the rain was a highlight as well. Be sure to pack provisions because you won't want to leave once you arrive. Thank you to an amazing host! We hope to be back one day. LOVED it!

  • It's a special and unique experience at treehouse! A must try place if you come to big island, you'll find a lot of fun during the night and daytime :P . It's close to the volcano parks and 30min drive to Hilo airport. The room is lovely and clean. Great sunlight in the morning. Happy to have the first treehouse experience at big island.

  • The Tree House was amazing! It was our honeymoon and this was the perfect experience. Everything was incredibly designed down to the open air shower with living wall. There was ample hot water and plenty of power for this being off the grid. Kristie answered all of our questions and provided a really helpful guide to the tree house and surrounding area. The attention to the smallest detail is something we really appreciated. The pulley system for our luggage, for example. Brilliant! The shower was fantastic and we probably took one too many. :) The bed was very comfortable and we had so much fun listening to our music through the Gramophone! Did we mention that shower? Thank you for sharing your beautiful house in the trees!

  • Best place I’ve ever stayed at! My expectativas were really high due to so many 5* reviews, and it did not disappoint! The pictures you see are exactly what it looks like, the attention to detail is spectacular and even with the rain it was an amazing experience to stay there. Kristie and Kayte respond to any questions or concerns really fast.

  • Great hideaway!

    Michael2018-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely unique and incredible treehouse. Looks just like the pictures and a great choice if you want to relax and get "off the grid" as there is no wifi and it is in the wild rainforest! If you are hiring a car to visit as we did I would recommend getting a jeep or other SUV as the road leading in is quite uneven with a few potholes and puddles to drive through.

Recomendo a estadia.

  • Recomendo a casa de Anthony Ginter para um fim de semana em Floripa (Governador Celso Ramos, na verdade). Fica a apenas uns 40 minutos do aeroporto, fácil de chegar. O atendimento do staff é atencioso e cordial. As fotografias espelham exatamente o que se pode encontrar por lá: é realmente de cinema. A arquitetura é aconchegante e inusitada.

*This cabin was featured in the New York Times in January, 2017. * A magical homesteader cabin embedded in 5 acres of unfenced Joshua Tree desert wilderness, 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. Experience peace, quiet, wildlife and STARS—on the grid but off the pavement.
If this cabin is booked on your dates, check out our other two cabins nearby ("Homestead Camp Cabin in Joshua Tree" and "Midcentury Prefab Homesteader Cabin") *** If you would like to use our cabin as a shooting location please get in touch to discuss our rates, otherwise we do not allow commercial or professional shooting of any kind (photo, video, film) during your stay. Thank you in advance! *** The restored cabin, which has been featured in the New York Times 'T' travel magazine, Wilder Quarterly, The Weekender and the book 'Jackrabbit Homestead,' was constructed in 1955 and still has its original green paint. Joshua Tree National Park is a 15 minute drive from the cabin. The Integratron and Giant Rock are also 15 minutes away. The cabin is less than two miles from artist Noah Purifoy's famous sculpture garden site. Two miles in the other direction is Dhamma Dena, teacher Ruth Denison's Vipassana Buddhist center. The always swinging Pappy & Harriet's BBQ and music roadhouse in beautiful Pioneertown is a 30-minute drive. The Lou Harrison House, which hosts occasional devotional, folk and avant garde music events in an intimate setting is less than 10 minutes away. We will be happy to give you directions to each of these unique places (and many others) that we frequent ourselves. The cabin sits on 5 acres, and feels remote, but it's just 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. You will travel a few miles on a secure, hard dirt road to get here. Enjoy the spectacular panoramic sunset and sunrise—as well as a blanket of stars. In the wintertime, you can build a fire too. Sleep comfortably in a queen-sized bed. The renovated interior has a cookware-outfitted kitchen and dining area. There is an outhouse with a dry toilet and roofless shower a few yards from the cabin. Wireless internet is available if you require a connection to the digital world. The cabin is equipped with air conditioning. The cabin is located next to BLM land and a wildlife corridor, which means you will witness these wild animals in their native habitat. The cottontail rabbits, cactus wrens, lizards, desert tortoises, jackrabbits, coyotes, owls and roadrunners (and more!) that make the desert their home make a visit to this serene cabin all the more special. Guests may have freshly prepared organic juices made by local juice cleanse guru Angela de la Agua delivered to the cabin. A menu/pricelist is available upon request. Please note that we have a TW0-NIGHT MINIMUM stay, and a THREE-NIGHT MINIMUM FOR HOLIDAY WEEKENDS. This requirement allows us to keep our rates low, so that the greatest number of folks get a chance to experience being here in the unfenced desert, under the Milky Way. We donate 2.5% of our proceeds to the Mojave Desert Land Trust, an excellent local non-profit organization devoted to protecting the Mojave Desert ecosystem and its scenic and cultural resource values.
  • We checked in late to the cabin, unfortunately, so, we didn't meet Stephanie and Jay in person. However, they were very available via email/text. We enjoyed very much staying here. The location provided us a peaceful and quiet retreat, beautiful view of the sunrise and of the desert lit by an almost full moon, and just what we needed to relax and rest. I actually quite liked the outdoor shower. Close enough to the downtown area and to the National Park - but far-away enough to feel you've gotten away. Thank you, Stephanie and Jay!

    Lauren2015-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect retreat in the desert! We had such a magical time staying here. You will love it!

    Jeremi2013-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Words cannot describe how wonderful our stay at this cabin was. The sunset, the starry sky, and the surrounding desert wildlife is astonishing. We are addicted to this place, and are returning as often as possible! Stephanie and Jay are wonderful hosts- and the cabin has great reading material on the coffee table!

    Paul2014-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We've stayed here several times now, and our visit in late August was wonderful. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and the view of the sunset is amazing.

    Paul2014-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • If you love quiet and being close to nature, this is the place for you! We loved this cabin, lots of light and very cozy. It's far enough from town for solitude, but close enough to go in for a meal if you like. Dove song, quail, coyotes, moon and stars, what could be better? Jay met us and explained everything about the cabin and was available if we needed anything.

    Bonnie2015-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place. It is sparse and simple in just the right way, with lots of nice little details. It can get warm in the late afternoon, but there's a big hammock in the shade. Jay was an excellent host too.

    Aaron2012-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • My two night stay was so peaceful, I loved the location where you feel like the desert is all to yourself yet not too far from the main roads. The host was perfectly kind and accommodating to our needs. Would love to stay again soon!

An ancient trullo surrounded by panoramic contryside , away from the noise. Just relax, time taken lying on the hammock or a dip in our cristalline sea and in the evening a great apulian dinner in nearby villages. simple and authentic things
Trullo aromativc green is a 300 year old building, with the traditional "trullo" cones of this region of Puglia. Trullo is situated on the west facing slope of a delightfully quiet valley with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and ideal place for relaxing and is beautiful to explore on foot or by bicycle. The property has been designed to be beautiful, comfortable and environmentally friendly. Solar power is used for hot water and and waste water is re-used (please use the organic bodycare and cleaning products provided). In cooler months, heating and the woodburning stove will keep you warm. The trullo's traditional thick walls and high ceilings keep it cool in summer. And through the marvels of technology, a wifi connection is now available in this idyllic rural setting. The surrounding grounds are maintained organically. Set in four acres, Trullo aromatic green provides the space and tranquillity for real relaxation. Amongst the 110 olive trees are many almonds, walnuts, fig, cherries, apple, pear and mulberry trees, providing a garden banquet that guests can feast on. Produce from the land, including olive oil, is provided for your enjoyment at the property, and available to take home. At the front of the house is a large dining table under a shady gazebo. Nearby there is a barbecue . A large terrace is available to enjoy the landscape from a new perspective. Comfortably furnished, it's the perfect place for sundowners or digestifs. There is also an ancient aia where you just relax on a hammock. The kitchen inside is equipped to the standard that you would expect from this impressive property. I expect that you will dine outside most of the time, but if the weather turns, or you fancy a change, the intimate dining room will delight you. The living room provides ample space for everyone to relax. Enjoy the sound system - Bose iPod docking station and CD player - or watch a film on the Tv. A wood burning stove will warm the spirits in the cooler months. The bedrooms: there are one double bedroom and one can be configured as double or twins. They all have their own shower room and bathroom. Two miles away, in a small town called Casalini you can find everything you might need (delicatessen, supermarket, wine cellar, bar, newsagent, butcher, post office) Puglia and Trullo aromatic green will delight you throughout the year. Each season brings its own climate, festivals and produce. In April the days are warm, but Puglia is still quiet. So you would have a great time to explore the surrounding towns, markets and scenery. There are many festival processions over Easter. On May soft fruits such as cherries, mulberries and fiorone (early figs) are in abundance, markets are full of spring vegetables and the fields are full of wild flowers. This is a fantastic season. On June enjoy the countryside and the beaches before the crowds arrive. Days are pleasantly warm, and the nights clear. On July the real start of summer. Enjoy a day on the beach l, followed by a summer festa or concert. Famous classical concerts in nearby Martina Franca run from mid July to mid August. Finally on August explore the beaches and get plenty of rest during the day to ensure you are full of energy for the many festivals that take place throughout the region during summer. On September as the blazing heat of high summer subsides, enjoy pleasant days and some spill-over festivals such as the Jazz festival in Lecce, or buskers in Martina Franca. Places to Go Puglia offers a wealth of diversions; two coast lines, a vast number of hill towns each with their own characteristics, and always beautiful, rugged scenery with knarled olive trees, spring flowers, red soil and acres of vineyards. There will be plenty of information available to you on arrival (or booking, if you prefer) including recommendations and directions for your days out. Local Hill Towns Ceglie Messapica is just 10 kilometres from trulo aromatic green i, and provides all the amenties that you may need, including an attractive old town for your evening promenade. It is famed for its restaurants, including "Ricci's" - which has the accolade of being Antonio Carluccio's favourite restaurant in Southern Italy. Ostuni, just 07 km from Trullo aromatic greeni, is a fantastic hill town, with the centro storico revealing great bars and restaurants. The town has many facilities, and the market on Saturday morning provides everything you can imagine. Cisternino, just 6 kilometres, has its own character and charm, many free summer concerts and great restaurants. Alberobello is a must for anyone interested in the region's trulli buildings. It is a small town, consisting almost entirely of trulli. Although crowded with tourists in summer, it is worth a visit... and we can recommend some great local restaurants to complete your day. Martina Franca is the smartest town in the area. The Sunday evening passeggiata is a display to behold! The old town centre is a typical example of baroque art, with its white lanes, elegant mansions and stately churches and commune buildings.Beaches On this peninsula, you are never too far from the sea. The Adriatic sea is just 10 minutes from Trullo aromatic greeni, with family beaches and all facilities you need - including seafood and gelato! On the opposite coast, the Ionian, you will find stretches of open beach. Both coastlines offer large beaches and quiet coves, with beautiful clear blue water. Further south the shore becomes more rugged and dramatic. As well as a huge number of towns and beaches to visit, many other activities are available in the area Golf, Horse riding, Scuba diving and snorkeling, Kite-surfing, Cookery courses, pasta making, gourmet tours, Yoga (nearby classes or private lessons at Trullo aromatic green), Massage. We will, of course, be more than happy to help you plan and to make you reservations. Please note, some weeks we hold yoga holidays and gourmet tours for individuals or groups. For special occasions a local chef can come and cook for you. Nights There are many bars, restaurants and clubs to be discovered locally. Puglia is famous for its food, and there are many places to enjoy fabulous cuisine at excellent prices. In the summer there are many bars and clubs set up on the ne Nearby beaches, as well as a multitude of festas and concerts (many free) to make the most of the warm evenings.

  • Isa was incredibly welcoming. She stocked the fridge with cheese, ham and olives along with a basket full of bread, wine, eggs etc. we had arrived late so this was such a welcome treat. The area is amazing with a local town Casalini only 5 mins away. The trullo was so peaceful, no one around, very charming with a lovely hammock and outdoor seating.

    Jade2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at Isa’s magical place for eight wonderful nights. We had a wonderful time and will recommend to our friends. Isa is a great host. Her attention to detail with the objective of making you feel good and welcome made us feel special. The house was super clean and exactly as described/ pictured in the web site. The house - inside and outside is beautiful and romantic, full of details that we kept discovering as the days went by. The place is quiet. The bed is very comfortable. The bathrooms have fresh white towels. We made time to enjoy the house inside and outside. The gardens are beautiful and well taken care of. Different moments of the day were spent in different places in the garden/ around the house. The house has a washing machine - a great addition for us traveling for two weeks with carryons. Isa gave us great suggestions for places to eat and enjoy life in Puglia. We loved every single place she suggested. You will need a car. Our favorite beach was Torre Pozzelle a few miles away. We were very lucky with a full moon during our stay. The beauty of the moonlight over the olive trees is hard to describe. We will never forget this trip to beautiful Puglia and Isa’s place and her generosity have a lot to do with how we feel. We hope to be back! Many thanks dear Isa. ❤️

  • Trullo Aromatic Green was great! My wife and a couple of friends just spent a week there. The house is absolutely beautiful, with good design integrating modernity with the traditional trullo and well-chosen furnishings. There are two double bedrooms, each with its own bath, very private, so excellent for two couples or couple with kids. No AC, which was fine for June -- don't know about July and August. A great place to cook italian meals with excellent fresh ingredients from the Cisternino veg market (7 km). The grounds are lovely -- olive groves, apricot trees bearing delicious fruit, lovely patios on three sides of the house, even a threshing floor! Rough dirt road getting there, but that's part of the beauty. A great place from which to explore Ostuni (7 km), the coast (maybe 10 km), and other small towns. We went as far as Matera (about 2 hours). Isa is lovely: friendly but unintrusive, offering her help and conversation only as much as you might want. It's great to have a smart, friendly hostess, happy to answer questions (we enjoyed half in english and half in italian) and offer information. I would highly recommend this place to almost anyone.

    Jeffrey2014-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely Trullo with quality furnishings, linen & extremely comfortable beds. The often edible garden is spacious & you can't help but relax in the picturesque surroundings. Their are charming towns near by where you can simply wander, eat in or shop. Isabella is a warm, friendly & helpful host who lives in an adjacent house on the property. As others have mentioned a vehicle is a must. We also appreciated the local delicacies that Isabella had provided on our arrival & also the lovely basket of fruit she picked midway through our stay. We had a welcomed & restful break here during our global travels.

  • The Trullo was fantastic! We loved every minute. It was the perfect home base for our Puglia vacation. Isa was a lovely host with fantastic suggestions that made us feel like locals - right at home. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND!

  • Staying at Isa's Trullo is experiencing Italy's at its best. Located in a secluded area surrounded by olive and almond trees (among many others) between Ostuni and Cisternino, the place is also not far from the sea and the marine reserve of Torre Guaceto, with its transparent see where we swam with a see turtle (!). The Trullo is perfectly organised, both inside and outside, and Isa is attentive, full of suggestions and truly friendly. You can easily see how fond she is of her land. The surroundings offer plenty of possibilities for great food and wine at affordable prices. The car is absolutely needed by the roads are generally safe and well maintained. Highly recommended for a relaxing holiday immersed in a gorgeous nature. Thank you Isa!

  • Isa is a warm and welcoming host. Her villa is fabulous and we loved our stay in Ostuni. We would highly recommend this villa when staying in this beautiful town.

  • My husband and I spent a week at Isa's trullo. It is a lovely garden setting with many kinds of fruit trees and vegetables. Isa's hard work really shows. The house was comfortable and nicely located to Cisternino and Ostuni. I especially liked the very equipped kitchen. We had a few very very hot days and Isa went to some trouble to get two good fans for us. She also left some of her hosed jam and other goodies for us. A very peaceful setting with a great view of the full moon.

  • Alexis and Lotte represent everything that Airbnb stands for. They welcomed us to their home as friends would and made us feel immediately at ease. The house itself is absolutely amazing (we were a teeny bit jealous!) - and the area is very conveniently located next to beautiful Amboise. Huge thanks to you both x

  • On a long road trip throughout France, with many wonderful experiences, Alexis and Lotte's hospitality and beautiful space ranked at the very top. After a particularly long ride with traffic, we were a little late and struggling with our phones. We were tired, hungry and frustrated, but when we got to their home, Alexis and Lotte welcomed us with open arms. They absolutely turned our day around for us. They are two of the most fascinating and kind people I have ever met, and its worth whatever it takes to make it to their neck of the woods just to stay with them. The room is exactly as pictured, smells amazing and is perfectly cozy. The bath is the most luxurious thing you will ever know...until you eat the breakfast they will prepare for you. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our time with Alexis and Lotte. We stayed in a lot of apartments on our trip, and nothing comes close to the openness, warmth, consideration and just amazing hospitality that we experienced with them.

  • Très bon accueil. Chambre avec beaucoup de charme. Super petit déjeuner

    Vanessa2016-11-01T00:00:00Z

  • We had a wonderful time at Alexis and Lotte's home. This is an experience not to be missed. The hosts were friendly and Lotte recommended perfect restaurants to dine at with attractions to visit. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

  • Super chambre troglodyte très confortable et très bien aménagée. La baignoire est juste immense. Alexis & Lotte sont de fantastiques hôtes. Le petit déjeuner est très très copieux et délicieux. Allez y les yeux fermés !

Hector Cave House, carved into the unique caldera cliff for more than 250 years, was originally used as a wine cellar. Then it became a family owned complex of three different properties that opened its doors to share its unique character to travelers from around the world. The three different properties are: The Hector Cave House The Hector Luxury Cave The Hector Caldera Nest
The Hector Cave House, carved into the unique caldera cliff for more than 250 years, was originally used as a wine cellar (“the canava”). The traditional “canava” became a family owned summer house, which then opened its doors to share its unique character to travelers from around the world. Indoor: Hector Cave house (60 square meters) can host 2-5 people, ideal for one couple or a company of 2-5 friends. The house includes one bedroom, two bathrooms and a living room area. The bedroom has one built-in King size bed LOCATED ON THE LOFT and one single sofa bed 200 cm x 80 cm. In the living room area there are two built in single sofa beds. The kitchen is equipped with all the facilities for self-catering holidays, including microwave, refrigerator, electric hot plates, toaster, electric kettle and an espresso machine. Outdoor: The private veranda offers a private space for relaxing, dinning, or even sunbathing, having as a background the most breathtaking views of Santorini: the Volcano, the caldera cliff and Thirassia Island. Outdoor NON heated plunge pool for two is also available from APRIL 1-NOVEMBER 1
Hector Cave house is situated in a very convenient location, right on the main path of Oia traditional settlement. Within walking distance, visitors can reach all the highlights of Oia and wonder around picturesque shops, cozy restaurants and romantic caldera-view cafes. Also, the complex lies a few steps from the old castle and the best viewing spot for the famous Oia sunset. Although close to local activity, the Hector Cave House provides peacefulness and privacy.
  • Giannis was incredibly attentive and helpful especially during the financial crisis in Greece. The house was beautifully appointed with an exceptional view over the Aegean! We had a gorgeous week in Oia, thank you so much Giannis!

    Sarah2015-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • My Boyfriend and I just returned from Hector Cave House at the end of September and it was absolutely amazing! We could not have asked for anything better! The location was perfect- close to many restaurants, shopping, supermarkets, a public pool (all within walking distance). The bus station was also walkable and very easy to use to get around. The view from the TWO balconies is absolutely stunning- I could have just sat there all day! The house is very spacious and has everything that you would need. We were able to cook breakfast and lunch in the house each day and enjoy it on the balcony overlooking the caldera. Giannis was an excellent host, he provided us with tons of information and was always available to answer our calls and emails. Giannis assisted us in planning all of our excursions and transfers and was wonderful to deal with. I highly recommend staying at the Hector Cave house- we will definitely be back! My only complaint is that we couldnt have stayed longer! Thank you Giannis for a wonderful vacation!

    Tracie2013-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Hector cave house is like staying in a work of modern art. It is bright, clean and pretty much it's own mini spa in the middle of Oia! We stayed for 4 nights for our honeymoon after getting married in Evia and couldn't have wished for a more perfect setting. Sadly we did not get to met Giannis but he gave us a welcoming telephone call and helped us remotely to hire a car and book a catamaran trip (which you have to do if you come to stay!!) Dana and Dimitris were so helpful at checkin and throughout our stay. Thanks so much guys! Highly recommended!

    Becki2017-10-07T00:00:00Z

    Stephanie2013-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is spacious, clean and is as shown. Great views from the apartment. Amenities such as s small fridge and espresso machine were appreciated. Gianni's is available 24/7 and he was very helpful in arranging transfers and someone to help us with our luggage. His recommendations for restaurants and other activities were all excellent. Overall, great place to stay.

    Andrea2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolutely incredible. We spent two nights here towards the end of September but could have stayed forever. I can't speak highly enough of Giannis', Dana's and Dimitris' hospitality. The cave house is set back from the main walking street with gorgeous Caldera views, and famous Oia sunsets some ten steps around the corner. You won't want to leave the cave pool but you'll have to, so you can enjoy the hosts' excellent recommendations for food and activities. There's much more to be said but just book it and find out for yourself - Hector Cave House is an oasis of calm. We can't wait to come back!

    Jesse2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this place is ridiculous. The view is just incredible and so nice to wake up to. Giannis, Dana, and Dimitri go all out to make your stay wonderful. The apartment is fully stocked with wine, water, snacks, shower necessities, robes, slippers, and even the toilet paper is nice. Dana gave us some great recommendations around the apartment and they even gave us a little gift at check out. Could not recommend any more highly.

    Katie2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • I whole-heartedly recommend staying at the Hector Cave house. The apartment is in great shape - it has been modernized, yet still maintains a very authentic, old world feel. The bathroom is newly renovated, with a spacious shower that never runs out of hot water. The *best* feature of the apartment is that it has TWO spacious, private terraces with amazing views. By far, the highlight of each day on Santorini was returning to the apartment after a day of swimming or roaming the island, and then opening a bottle of wine (or two or three) and enjoying the views. Additionally, the apartment is within comfortable walking distance of many great restaurants. Aside from the brilliance of the apartment, Ioannis himself is great. He makes himself available 24/7 and is in touch each before, during and after your stay. I do not hesitate in giving the Hector Cave house a five-star rating.

Recomendo a 100%

    Ana2016-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Reb is so kind. Our first night stay in Morocco was at Marrakech. We were so stressful by the local people around us when we took off the taxi in Jamaa el Fna Square. The local teenagers were trying to guide us to the riad for some other “propose”. We then run into a café for shielding and gave Reb a call. He immediately came to us without words. It was so impressive. The riad was clean and everything was fine to us (except some noise in the midnight as our room was just nearby the footway, but it was still acceptable)

    Tony2013-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I spent a great 4 nights in this riad! What a stunning, huge room, very impressive and super clean. Simone was the perfect host and always there to give us advice on places to eat/things to do. The riad is a peaceful spot in the middle of a busy city. Great value for money. Stay if you can. We certainly hope to return. Ps We ate in the riad one night and the lamb and fig tajine was DELICIOUS! Definitely try it if you are there.

    Isabella2013-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Helped us get from the airport, pointed us in the right direction, provided a lovely room and a great experience in Marrakech. I'd wholeheartedly recommend anyone coming to the city to stay here, if you're focusing on the Medina.

  • Hartelijk onthaal, heel wat tips gekregen vb hamman. Heel lekker eten. Kort bij alle sight seeing. Een aanrader

    Jos2014-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The room was huge, more like a small apartment, curbing around the courtyard. We had a wonderful stay, in large part thanks to Simone who is a lovely and attentive host, and for whom nothing was too small or too big a request. The terrace is just the right size, the ideal spot for breakfast, the location slightly east and south of the Medina was perfect, leading to some wonderful little nooks and shops. Ask Simone to show you the doughnut place around the corner, and if you want to bring back a Tagine dish, he knows just the place to buy it.

  • We arrived at Riad Bamileke after a long and tiring day of travel and were greeted by hosts, Mateo and Alberto who were extremely gracious and immediately made us feel at home. We were two couples traveling together and all of us loved our accommodations. Both rooms/suites were comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated each with it's distinct style. The owner, Reb, handled my many emails and questions promptly and patiently and in very good english. Thank you Reb.

Ampla cozinha e sala. Ótima localização, bem próximo do metrô.

O ap é bem iluminado, aconchegante, perfeito pra viver feliz e contente um day off.

    Tuca2017-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Mar's flat is amazing! Beautifully decorated, peaceful and super spacious. It has all the amenities you could need and the two bathrooms are gorgeous. The original features, such as the cornices in the bedroom are sensational. There is a strict no parties or loud noise rule in the building, so avoid if this is your thing, but this suited us fine.

    Niall2015-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic experience - the apartment was even better than the pictures suggested and a great, massive size for our six guests. Well furnished throughout and very homely-feeling. Highly recommended!

    James2015-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Mar et ses parents ont été super gentils. L'appart est magnifique, super déco. Il y avait un lit parapluie pour notre fille comme convenu. Le salon et la cuisine sont hyper agréables. Je reve d'avoir le même appart.

    Perrine2016-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mar and her family could not have been more helpful and the apartment was everything and more that it claimed on the site. The whole apartment was scrupulously clean, bright and airy and kitted out with everything that a visitor would need. The décor and furnishing was superb with just the right amount of quirky. We have stayed in many apartments in many cities and it was just great to find one where everything from the aircon to the showers actually worked the way it should. The local transport was great with the metro and the airport bus within a few hundred metres. The surrounding area is relatively quiet but there are plenty of nice bars and restaurants nearby. If that doesn't suit you it is only a short walk or 2 stops on the metro to the big city biz.

    Jim2015-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lo super recomiendo! Ansiamos volver a hospedarnos aquí. Este apartamento ha superado nuestras expectativas! Es muy bello y muy completo! Gracias!

Also, no parties or groups exceeding 8 are allowed and may even result in immediate eviction and/or loss of deposit.
  • The Tahoe Chalet was spacious and accommodated a party of five quite well. We had fun playing with the board games and loved the beautiful table and antler chandelier!!

  • Ryan and Darnie's communication was above and beyond. They accommodated our date change so easily and quickly when I booked the wrong weekend. They also checked in on us to make sure we made it safely when they heard the road conditions weren't good. Checking in and out was super easy. We really enjoyed the beautiful cabin, our stay was amazing. The cabin was fully stocked with everything we needed and more. We were also able to play in the snow across the street and took short walks around the neighborhood. It's a short 25 minute drive to Sierra for snowboarding/skiing. Great location and great price. We'll definitely be back!

  • Our family of 6 had a great stay here. The cabin was just as expected - cute, comfortable, and supplied with everything we needed. The attention to detail and decorating made it feel like such a quaint rustic cabin experience! Location was great, only ~10 min or so to stores, and not a far drive from everywhere else we were headed. Hosts were helpful and very responsive, check in went smoothly. The rooms were clean and spacious, the mattresses in the bunk bed room were a little uncomfortable but aside from that the rooms had plenty of blankets, clean linens, etc. We loved our time here and would definitely return!

    Loreen2017-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Well appointed space easy drive to South Lake Tahoe. Would be an excellent spot for two four-person families that want to vacation in the area together.

    Michelle2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at the Chalet. We were six friends staying for two winter nights, and we didn't feel crowded at all. The central heater works well for heating the house and drying wet socks, and additional space-heaters in the bedrooms kept us at perfect temperatures. The full kitchen allowed us to cook several meals together, and the location is great for long walks, snow-covered adventures, or driving to our Tahoe destinations. It's a beautiful, bright home, with every detail of the decor thought through. We didn't want to leave!

    Odalis2017-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures were beautiful and thats what I fell in love with, He got back to us right away, location was fine, not much traffic, we did hear a few planes. The house has everything you need. We shared it with another couple and their daughter. It was really cozy. We would love to use it again in the future.

A sturdy cabin with lots of natural light, right in a flowerful garden. It will feel like living outdoors, while inside the cabin there is a lingering aroma of larix wood and crackling of the woodstove.
This charming garden room has a 180 degrees garden view, with large windows in the front and in the roof. (Full length curtains for the windows allow for privacy.) In the cabin you will find a comfortable bed with good mattress - size 165cm by 205cm and plushy pillows. A comfortable desk and chair, free WiFi – to read or even finish some work. Water cooker and drinking water available. Besides being well-suited for the summer, it is also very cozy for the autumn and winter because of the romantic woodstove. The bathroom and toilet are just a few steps away in the main house. Inside the cabin itself is a faucet for water and thanks to good suggestions from guests there is now a chemical toilet for a pee in the night. We don't offer breakfast or cooking facilities, but her you get quietness and romance :) A small stream meanders past the front of the cabin. In the evening the garden is nicely lighted and makes for a beautiful sight and there are multiple sitting areas in the garden. And chickens to enjoy :) - no roosters! The cabin is about 8mts behind our house. Welcome!
The location is in the largest natural area of the Netherlands. The area is great for both walking and bicycling (if you did not bring your own, we have two you can borrow). Many short and long walking and biking routes through heathlands, woods and meadows start within a kilometer from the house. Also within walking distance (800 meter) are the town centre (with shops and several decent restaurants) and swimming pool. Lakes (including beaches) are 5 kilometers away.
  • It was a really unique airbnb experience! The wooden cabin was cosy and comfortable. The best part was waking up with the garden view, and you can hear the chickens and birds outside. It was beautiful! Just slight inconvenience that we had to go out of the cabin to shower. But they provide a small chemical toilet if you need to use the toilet at night. Beas and Frans were very friendly and helpful. They made our stay very enjoyable.

  • Ein sehr süßes Gartenhaus, für einen Kurzaufenthalt sehr zu empfehlen, mit sehr freundlichen Gastgebern.

  • Bea and Frans are kind people, shame we didn't get to talk more, but there was to much great stuff to do and to see. These are truly great hosts: wake up in the morning and find fresh fruit and vegetables next to your door (placed by them of course) offer to lend their own bikes etc. The garden house is great: we stayed there at the end of December and with the fireplace the place warmed up quickly. It looks great from the outside (you get your own switch for the waterfall / river in front of the hut) and it is very cosy from the inside. Highly recommended!

    Gijs2012-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful little hideaway! I highly recommend it and felt so welcomed by Be a and Frans. I arrived much later as I had to work unexpectedly and they were so understanding. I also had to leave a day early due to an emergency and they unnecessarily but ever so kindly refunded the rest of my stay in cash. All I can say is I‘ll be back!

    Alberta2017-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to be the first guests of Bea and Frans, and they were great! The garden house is super cozy and perfect in warm or cold weather. As they say in the profile, the toilet and shower are inside but this isn't an inconvenience at all as you're so close. The garden house is made entirely of wood so it smells great!! And the surrounding garden is beautiful. Long story short, we had a fantastic time! The area is beautiful with so much to do. The house itself was great, and Bea and Frans were wonderful hosts- very helpful, informative, and great to just chat with :) I highly suggest staying here!

    Sarah2012-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in Bea and Frans' cozy garden room. It was exactly what we wanted for touring the European countryside. Bea and Frans are wonderful hosts and we would be more than willing to stay with them again.

Thank you for organising Fayssal to meet us at the airport too. He also took us out for a day to the foot of the Atlas Mountains, which we loved. Your charming house made our stay perfect.

  • A great place to stay to experience the magic of Marrakech. A place, where you can feel the history and tradition of the city. The Oasis in the heart of the pulsing city life. Thank you Francoise for sharing this beautiful Riad to others and giving us the opportunity to dive into the magic of this city. And of course best regards to Sabah, who helped us out to the greatest extent whenever we needed something.

  • Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, viel Platz, toller Stil, super Tipps und sogar eine Haushaltshilfe, die Geschirr wäscht und putzt. Absolut empfehlenswert, ein Highlight !!

  • The taxi driver welcomed us in the airport and drove to the house when we met the awesomest housekeeper who made delicious breakfast and advised on many local things. The house is super clean and super spacious for three people. We could only regret not spending so much time there. We could switch on the heating to make our stay super comfortable in the evening. The location is brilliant – you can make yourself get lost in the souk for fun or take the easiest way to the streets around. Fairly short way to the station or supermarket. We’d definitely come back there.

    Ewa2014-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location in Marrakesh. Quiet and peaceful. Dinner was delicious and I always slept well. Francoise was very communicative and helpful with tips based on my questions prior to my arrival.

  • Just got back from a week staying at Dar Ahwach and it could not have been a better experience! The location was perfect, very close to the souks and the square! The area also felt very safe and there was a security guard that walked you to your door when it was dark. The highlight however was definitely Sabah who took care of the riad! She was so sweet and a joy to be around! She prepared breakfast for us every morning with freshly made orange juice. Sabah also prepared dinner for us on our last night (chicken tajine), which was easily the best meal of the trip! I would highly recommend Dar Ahwach to anyone spending time in a Marrakech!

    Hema2016-03-20T00:00:00Z

This bamboo cottage is a secluded eco retreat down a quiet foot path nestled in the rice fields and only a five minute walk to central Ubud. Open air basket weave bedroom with mini loft, modern elegant bathroom and outdoor living area make this a truly unique Bali experience.
This is a woven house made almost entirely of bamboo. It is open air and as close to living in nature as you get. Our main lodge is down a private foot path only accessible to cottage guests. if you choose to join us for dinner, a swim or for socializing with other guests you are welcome to enjoy this common space with a saltwater pool and a swing. :)
This is a hidden spot literally just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Ubud with its restaurants and shops, but it feels lost in time and like a total retreat. In the day you will only meet rice farmers and local women blessing the rice. At night you will only see fireflies and hear the rushing river, crickets and the distant sounds of the temple. An evening massage is a great way to end the day at sunset on the terrace. We have an in house masseuse who is available by appointment.
  • An amazing place to stay, I highly recommend it! I was only able to stay one night due to a flight out of Bali the next day, but feel at least a week would be truly fantastic! Going to sleep to the sounds of the frogs, crickets, and night life all around you, wrapped in the warmth of the night air and sky is truly magical, this brought back wonderful memories for me from my childhood as well as a new and amazing experience! The cottage truly is open, which is a most wonderful thing about it, after the stunning views of course!!, so be easy on yourself and travel light in baggage if you can, stay at this cottage to experience the open world and nature surrounding you, treasure the beautiful pathway there through the rice fields and admiring the jungles surrounding the fields, and enjoy the free life of this bamboo rice-field heaven :)! And incredibly, it truly is a five-minute walk into town, as well. Don't miss the chance to stay here! I hope to return again!!

  • This was our favourite place we stayed at during our trip to Bali! The staff are very friendly and the surrounding areas are very beautiful. Would absolutely stay again and have recommended to a lot of our friends.

    James2016-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Poor/no WiFi connection at the cottage (good signal at the other rooms) and due to humid weather, moist and stinky sheets. Cottage has some privacy issues even though it has its "own" and "private" path and enterance. Unfortunately all other visitors (and sorry to say that but some of staff) were abusing that enterance and private path by opening the door and not closing it... other than that; great and delicious food, amazing staff and team members. (No need to mention about frogs, insects, geckos etc.)

    Emir2017-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I start with this?? It was AMAZING! The view, the service, the bungalow, the entire experience! It was so good to escape noise, electronics and the busyness of our lives. Our arranged driver was super friendly and we were warmly welcomed at the foot of the field entrance. Our luggage was carried for us, which is good because the path is tricky but it made it all that much more adventurous and fun! The bungalow was immaculately clean, there were fresh flowers and linen daily, and breakfast was superb! It also came with flowers as well as lovely silverware and cloth napkins. The jam was so tasty and if you ask for more coffee, they will bring an extra thermos. So you can just look out at the green, green rice fields, say 'hi' to the friendly field workers who are just so kind and outgoing! If you are there at the right time, ducks are herded through the fields everyday and the sound of them chatting together and watching them waddle around is so entertaining all by itself. If you have the right shoes, you can even wander into the terraced rice fields right off the porch and get some great snapshots, especially when the sun is setting-it's spectacular! We rented scooters through the bungalow and had some great adventures hiking and exploring around Ubud. There is so much to see! In the evenings, we ordered in some lovely meals and Bintang beers. In the mornings we had massages right on the floor of the bungalow and it was the best one I've ever had...the ambiance was perfect with the breeze passing through the bamboo walls, the swaying palm tress and trickling water. I would recommend get a massage right after breakfast to start your day, you won't regret it!! Also, the private semi-outdoor shower is spectacular, for a night shower you can look up at the bright stars and fireflies and for a morning shower, there is a blue-blue sky and dragonflies and butterflies gently landing here and there. You will find everything to be so peaceful and relaxing, book now!!

    Laura2014-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful retreat just outside the centre of Ubud. The cottage is beautiful and it's a wonderful place to go back to after a day in town. We even survived a tropical storm while we stayed there. The owner and the staff were great and we enjoyed our stay very much.

    Marthe2014-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is really nice and the host is one of the better ones, they provide a small menu, and service! you can call them with a provided mobile phone! location is awesome...! The people working in surrounding rice fields are very friendly.... you need a scooter (which they van provide) or have a longer (20 minute) walk to center of Ubud. but because it is a bit on the outskirts, you are really between ricefields and beautiful views!

    Chris2015-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • I chose the wonderful place to stay , this cottage is around by rice fields.its quiet and (Website hidden by Airbnb) served free coffee and tea in the morning when you awake.you can just sit on the floor drink the coffee with the full view of green fields and cozy breeze touch your face.its an amazing feel.its a nature place which is worth living. We met the housekeeper when we were leaving, she is beautiful !

    快乐2014-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the eco cottage on the edge of Wayan's property. The cottage is in the middle of a working rice field and feels very secluded. It is an inside/outside cottage (no complete walls - curtains are used) so there were a lot of bugs as expected but the beds came with good mosquito nets. Loved the outdoor shower. The service was great as well - Wayan is very communicative and helped show us to the property when we arrived late at night.

  • Hi, we just finished our 3 weeks california trip and arrived some days ago back in Germany. We also spent 5 days @ DnA's Poolhouse and we really loved it. What you see @ the pictures is exactly what you get: a very nice Poolhouse with everything you need during a comfortable stay (even beach towels, hair conditioner, own parking place, etc.) In the evenings we spent time @our own garden and we could enjoy very nice relaxing hours with a breathtaking view. The communication with DnA was very easy. As soon as we asked some questions even before our arrival, we got the information very quickly. DnA really make you feel welcome - e.g. by personel meeting, a bottle of wine and by asking you if everything is fine... We really recommend DnA's place. Thank you for beeing great hosts. Best, Katrin & Andreas

    Andreas2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Host was good, responded quickly and was happy to give us late checkout. The pool house was good for the price. Location and surrounds were average. One of Host's dogs was very unfriendly (and we are dog people). Host also requests that toilet paper is not flushed and is rather put in a bin.

    Loren2016-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you think the photos are too good to be true, they’re not! This is a gorgeous place to stay, private and spacious and simply beautiful. Dennis and Alex were fantastic as well, as helpful and responsive as could be! We would have stayed forever if we could have. Absolutely recommend!!!

  • This was a great place to stay during our trip to Los Angeles. It was centrally located to everything we wanted to see/ do and the house itself was very relaxing and peaceful. DnA were great hosts who answered all of our questions before we even had to ask!

    Allison2018-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful experience! Alex was there to greet us and show us the ropes. If we had a need the response was immediate and yet we never felt smothered. The accommodations were beautiful as was the pool and views. Very nicely located and yet a sense of privacy. We will definitely turn to DnA whenever we need accommodations in LA!

    Walt2015-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • DnA's place is perfect! Amazing views, and nice neighborhood. The place itself is amazing.. very clean, very well decorated, has everything you need and is actually a bit bigger than showed in pictures! I met both Dennis and Alex, and they are very friendly, helpful and made us feel right at home! I just loved staying here, hundred percent recommend it!

  • Awesome design house soaked with light in an idyllic setting facing Akureyri. Unfortunately, not suitable for babies (very echo, no high chair, host kindly bought a baby bed for our last night) nor cooking (stove not working, minimal cookware, no microwave...). Feels like the house has not yet been inhabited by host (no hooks or storage, painting on the floor, stores with no blinds with 24 hours of light...). Hopefully, many defaults can be forgotten thanks to the naturally filled outdoor hot tub with the best view in town. This house does not need so much to be 5 stars.

  • Truly a lovely, stylish and warm home with an incredible view of Akureyri. We had some challenges with communication, and as others have remarked remarked we, too, couldn't use the hot tub; however, we felt comfortable in the house and very much enjoyed our stay.

    David2018-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • The villa is fantastic: location, equipment, comfort and of course the stunning views of the bay and Akureyri. We could not believe that it is the same as on photo. But it was!!! The villa has only one drawback - you'll never want to leave this place!!! But i'm sure If i return, no When i return to Iceland, so i'll stay here once more.

    Maria2013-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic Home with excellent views all around. The inside is designed very thoughtfully and was accommodating for all five that we had in our party. We were able to very clearly see the northern lights right from the back porch and in the hot tub. Location overlooks the city and is still a very short drive into town if you want to eat out or pick up supplies. Highly recommend this house!

This spacious, unparalleled cave house, hanging on the cliffs of the caldera in the center of Oia, is part of a traditional complex of cave houses, owned & renovated by a family of architects.
Crowning a unique complex of cave houses which used to serve as the old bakery of the settlement, and just a moment from the main pedestrian street of Oia, lays the remarkable cave house of sculptural aesthetics. Originally renovated for personal use by local craftsmen, the house perfectly combines traditional style with comfort. The plasticity of its forms, the use of local techniques, the built in beds and the selection of antique furniture together with the modern amenities, strike the right balance between sophistication and coziness. The cave house has two private bedrooms one of which was actually the old cistern, now transformed into a cocoon, cave room. This couples' nest, is five organic-formed steps sideways and below the main level of the house, with an emperor size (200 x 200 cm) built in bed and vintage wooden furniture. The original path that was naturally created by the cliff structure, connecting the two caves which form this house, leads to the master bedroom, on the other side of the house, maintaining the original architectural plan. With a private entrance, two windows and a door that separates it from the rest of the house, this bright and spacious bed room comfortably fits an oak queen size bed (160 x 200 cm), a large desk with a chair, an antique bookcase and a handcrafted mirror. Both bedrooms are equipped with high quality latex mattresses. In the commodious, off-white living room, a warm and relaxing corner has been created by the two large built in sofa beds (easily accommodating two for sleep) and the square beech wood coffee table. On the side, a solid, oak wood dining table is surrounded be a wooden and a built in bench, comfortably sitting a company of six for a luscious meal, right next to the fully equipped kitchen. There, an oven, ceramic hot plates, refrigerator, coffee machine, electric kettle, toaster and cutlery ensure your stay will be as convenient as possible. The bathroom, deeply curved in the cave, with off white local stucco technique and marble from Crete, has a handcrafted marble wash basin and rain shower. Outdoors, the private terraces expand on different levels literally on the rim of the caldera, creating unique angles and comfortable sitting spaces. You have travelled miles in order to come here; this is the time that you can finally dip in the white washed, semi cave whirlpool. Grasp the serenity and beauty of the sensational, unobstructed view of the volcano. The caldera, the sea and the sky which will undoubtedly leave you breathless. Enjoy!
Oia is the most picturesque coastal town on the northwestern tip of Santorini. The town has whitewashed houses carved into the rugged clifftops, and overlooks a vast caldera filled with water.
  • We are a Family of 5 from Australia. We stayed in Laskarina and Johns gorgeous property for 8 nights in April. Our children 13, 9, and 2 were made to feel so welcome. A fantastic position. Tranquil, homely and unique come to mind when describing this beautiful property. Laskarina, John and Chloe were so welcoming and friendly, always willing to help in anyway they could. We are lucky enough to be visiting Oia again in June, unfortunately Laskarinas property is already booked but we will definately be calling in to say hello. Thankyou so much Laskarina and John for your hospitality. From The Prestons xo

  • I should write this esrlier, but busy in filing the beautiful photos i took in front of Laskarina's amazing cave house. It's hard to describe how great the experiences were to stay there simply by a few words. If i could, i'd rather show you photos with everything everyday we saw during the stay. Besides the breathtaking view and convenient location (really just a few steps away from the main street), both John and Laskarina are so nice and helping. Highly recommend travellers in santorini to spend vacation there in this cozy cave house.

It was amazing view from the house. Laskarina was nice host. She prepared welcome wine and fruits, arranged porter and transportation.
