Just booked in Poughkeepsie

Just booked in Poughkeepsie
Sleep staring at stars in wine country! Featured in The New York Times, The Today Show & called by Forbes "The World's Most Beautiful Tiny House," the Hudson Valley Glass House is a magical getaway. Just 90 mins from NYC, but a world away. 30 acres of rolling hills give total privacy & isolation as glass walls open up onto endless views of vineyards, orchards, & wildlife (spy coyote, deer, & amazing birds!). Modern comforts (WiFi, A/C, loaded kitchen) mean you don't have to give anything up.
Hi! If you're thinking of booking, please message me first to confirm, and also please read the entire listing to the end as it likely answers any questions you may have... Welcome to The Glass House. Come see why Forbes called it "The World's Most Beautiful Tiny House" and called an "off-grid oasis" on The Today Show. Sleep staring at the stars and feel the stress melt away in this glass-enclosed tiny house (just 180 square feet!) retreat, just 90 minutes from NYC, but a world's away. This is a truly special place, and most people find it surprising that it can exist so close to New York. With all sorts of wildlife coming within inches of the house (don't be surprised if you see coyotes, families of deer, and every type of bird you could imagine--not to mention more butterflies than you've ever seen, depending on the season), this is a truly immersive experience into nature. But despite its small size and isolated location, it is surprisingly luxurious on the inside. The listing includes: -A 180 square-foot glass-enclosed tiny house, offering spectacular 360-degree views of the Hudson Valley and surrounding vineyards and apple orchards -Lots of privacy on a 30-acre farm. -Outdoor dining and lounging furniture, along with access to a fire pit that you can definitely grill on. -A plush queen-sized bed with a super-comfy memory foam mattress and insanely comfortable pillows -A dining table with two chairs for sitting and eating. -A modern stainless-steel kitchen with a mini-fridge, induction cooktop for cooking, microwave, and electric kettle. Despite the small size, it has just about everything but a range oven. -Wi-Fi for keeping in touch with the real world and streaming shows on your personal devices. Also note that while the house is tiny and has a maximum occupancy of two people, I am sometimes able to accommodate larger parties for those bringing tents and willing to camp outside. Please inquire about pricing for such scenarios. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Q: Can I get to the house without a car? A: The house is about 25-minutes driving from the Beacon train station. If you choose not to drive the whole way there are Zipcar pickups at the train station (reserve in advance!) and Uber JUST launched in the area ($20-$30 for the ride from the train). A car is highly recommended (especially if you want to explore the area), but this definitely makes things possible for the car-free—just be sure to show up with everything you need for the stay as the farm is in a rural area that is not particularly walkable. Q: Do I need to bring towels or linens? What about a hairdryer? A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with basic toiletries (unless I happen to be out, which is very rare). Q: Is this house really off the grid? A: Yep! It features solar panels for power, a propane HVAC system for heating and air-conditioning, and a unique dry-flush toilet (more on that in the "Other Things To Note" section below). One exception: You absolutely have working Wi-Fi. Q: How will I receive the key? A: The house features a keyless entry system with a code that lasts as long as your stay. This allows for effortless check-in and entry. Q: Is the place professionally cleaned between guests? A: Yes, and I take pride in providing a clean home for guests. Take a look at my reviews—I think you'll find my guests agree! Q: What's up with the cleaning fee? A: I get a lot of questions about this, so I'll just break it down so you understand why it is what it is: All but $10 of that goes directly to my cleaner. She is a professional who does a great job and who I insist on compensating fairly for her work. The dry-flush toilet cartridges cost me about $20 apiece, so the remaining $10 lets me split that cost with guests. (Of course, if you happen to use more than one cartridge, I cover that cost alone). Q: What's my total booking price? A: I honestly have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows the guest, and not the host, the total cost. This figure should be present after you enter your dates. Note that, pricing varies on a daily basis, and Airbnb actually uses some crazy algorithm to adjust it automatically, so I don't actually control this. Q: I am looking for a last-minute stay. Can I make a same-day booking? A: If you're looking for a same-day booking and the place is free, please inquire and I'll try! It depends on whether my cleaning crew can spring into action at the last-minute, which isn't a sure thing. Check-in may also have to be later than the listed time in order to make sure the place is ready. Still, can't hurt to ask. Q: I know it says "No Animals". Can I bring my small/well-behaved dog? A: I love dogs, but there is a farm dog who gets very nervous when other dogs are around, and so we can not allow animals. This is also for your dog's safety, as there are coyotes in the area. Basically: Please don't try to sneak one in--this really doesn't end well. Q: I'm a blogger/YouTuber/influencer. Can I stay for free? A: No. One last thing: I really, really appreciate that you followed directions and read the whole thing. Please put the phrase "Don't throw rocks at glass houses!!" at the top of your message so I know you did so as such bookings tend to go so much smoother! And thanks for hanging in there!
The Glass House is situated on a 30-acre farm in the rolling hills of the Hudson Valley. Guests have total privacy, but are joined on the farm by the main farm house, a smaller residence with live-in caretakers that can help out in case of an emergency, and one other tiny house. Around the farm are views of rolling vineyards and apple orchards—many of which are absolutely worth a visit. Downtown Marlboro is minutes away and has a few nightlife and dining options, and the hopping town of Beacon (home of the Dia; Beacon) is about 25 minutes away. Storm King Art Center (a must) is also about 30 minutes away. Also near: New Paltz, Cold Spring Poughkeepsie, and countless other Hudson Valley gems.
  • We had a wonderful stay at Seth's tiny house for our 1 year anniversary! The house was luxurious and secluded on a gorgeous plot of farm land. The bed was cozy and was perfect for a 2 night stay. Seth was so prompt in communicating with us, and was very attentive to our needs! Would highly recommend this place.

  • The location is a true getaway—remote and peaceful, yet still within a short drive of great eats and beautiful sights!

  • My girlfriend and I spent 3 days here. This place is amazing! When you go to sleep you see the stars in the night sky around you, and you wake up to a beautiful sunrise. There were sweet surprises like farm fresh eggs from the cute chickens that you meet as you walk up the road. The toilet is really cool - straight our of NASA. I would love to stay here again.

    Igor2017-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great micro house in a beautiful location. Everything was as described. We had some worries about the toilet in the beginning, but it was really easy to handle if you stick to Seth's detailed info sheet. He was also ready to discuss additional questions via text at any time. While the house itself has fast wifi internet, we had problems getting cell phone reception on the lot (our carrier was T-Mobile) so better preload (Hidden by Airbnb) maps routes while on the house wifi before getting in your car. Also got the chance to say hi to the neighbors (their house is far enough to allow privacy despite the accommodation being a glass house) who were also very nice and forthcoming. Don't miss out on the Storm King Arts center which can be reached easily by car. Definitely recommend staying here as it was a great last experience on our trip before returning to Europe.

  • The Glass House is truly a magical experience. It had everytning we needed to cook a nice meal and the location was amazing for our overnight stay before a climbing trip in New Paltz. The huge glass windows offered an amazing starry sky to fall asleep under and we loved waking up with the sun to all the birds! Seth was super accommodating with our last minute booking and was incredibly helpful and responsive throughout! We’ll definitely be back.

  • We had a great time in this tiny home! My husband and I are considering joining the tiny house community, and rather than spend thousands of dollars, chose to spend a few hundred to stay here for a couple nights and try it out - cooking, bathing, working, etc. Staying in a space can give valuable feedback. For instance, we decided we'd need more than one stovetop if we ever go tiny ourselves (though we kind of knew that beforehand - I enjoy cooking and baking!). It was totally do-able to chop veggies, cook a yummy chimchuri steak with veggies and quinoa, it just took a bit longer - so bear that in mind - you may prefer to bring take-out or already prepared foods with you for your stay. Oh, and the fresh eggs are delicious!!! The bathroom was a sufficient size for getting clean and ready for work - plenty of room in the shower, even for my 6'6" husband, and a nifty toilet. The bed was a little tricky for him, though - so a word of caution to the tall people out there - the bed is sideways across the house, so if you're as tall as my beau, you'll either want to sleep slightly curled on your side or diagonal (I'm small and was just fine, though!). It takes creativity to live in a small space, and we enjoyed figuring it out. This tiny house is set up among a number of beautiful farms in Eastern NY state - very quiet. It was peaceful to sit inside with the windows open and listen to the birds, and to watch the sun set through the windows whilst cooking dinner. A perfect retreat! Seth was a great host! He had everything set up for us when we arrived - easy entry, clean and tidy space with new stylings. He emailed a detailed guide that was helpful preparing for our time away. He was also quick to respond to any inquiries. So do it! Go tiny for a couple nights!

  • Amazing experience! A must see for all tiny house lovers!

    Robert2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful tiny house in a beautiful farm setting. Plenty of space for two people with fully functioning appliances and amenities. Very nice outdoor sitting area around a fire pit beneath the starry night.

We are conveniently located within a 10 minute WALK from the Poughkeepsie Train Station and the historic Walkway over the Hudson! Our three family home is nestled in the Little Italy district of the City of Poughkeepsie - Appropriately there is no shortage of Italian bakeries or Italian restaurants in our neighborhood! Four restaurants (Amici's, Milanese, Cosimo's and Emiliano's) and two bakeries (La Deliziosa and Cafe Aurora) to be exact, all within WALKING distance! Good food is definitely not hard to come by in our neck of the woods. WALK on down to the Poughkeepsie waterfront... Dine inside or al fresco overlooking the beautiful Hudson River at the River Station Restaurant. Make sure you try one of the five delicious soups, homemade daily or pop into the historic Ice House on the Hudson for some of their yummy eats! Maybe you're just in the mood to cozy up next to a fire and enjoy a delicious glass of wine? Well then WALK down the street and around the corner to the Nic'L Inn. The ambience and artfully crafted menu never disappoints but be careful because their complimentary fried spaghetti can be addictive. Obviously we enjoy introducing people to our favorite neighborhood spots but lets not take away the fact that your journey to Poughkeepsie is just the gateway to the Hudson Valley. Located within 20 +/- minutes to the Village of New Paltz, Rhinebeck, Beacon, Breakneck Ridge (Hiking), Millbrook and multiple Breweries, Wineries, Distilleries, Orchards and attractions in Historic Hyde Park. No matter the season, no matter the reason, our home is a great place to begin your journey.!
  • Apartment is super chic and looks exactly as pictured. Was the perfect spot to stay for my one night in town and loved that it was minutes away from the scenic "walkway over the hudson." If I am ever in the Poughkeepsie area again I will definitely stay here.

  • Perfect for our cooking needs!

    Lauren2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Robert and Regina were great hosts. They gave me early access to drop off my bags, and the apartment was a short walk from the train station. Everything was furnished beautifully, and they were kind enough to have some waters and drinks stocked in the fridge. I was only there for one night, and everything went as well as I could have hoped. Thanks!

  • Our second stay at Robert & Regina's place in Poughkeepsie - great location, nice apartment, everything you need for a comfortable stay.

  • Wonderful place to stay and amazingly kind and responsive hosts. One of the best places I’ve stayed with Airbnb.

    Torin2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Elisa and Rob were very sensitive to what my needs were (asked and listened deeply) and accommodated me with warmth and the privacy I asked for. The room is spacious, in a very unique rounded tower with a view out to the large pond on their property. I could hear the peepers just starting. It is separate from their living area and nicely attended with loving details. Private bath with shower. Koenig coffee maker in the room and a mini fridge with milk. Chocolates and thoughtful touches. TV with every channel possible, if you are inclined and wifi throughout. The location is near New Paltz, the Hudson River Rail Trail, set away, but close to 299. The architecture is amazing in its uniqueness. As an artist, I felt at home. Elisa is a very interesting artist herself with an opening coming up April 30th and if you wish to engage her in conversation, you'll find a soulful and intelligent woman striving to be true to her artistic call and excellent stories to share of her process over the years, if you are interested. I hope to visit again soon. A most peaceful sojourn.

  • Everything you need and more at a great price!

    Kelsey2017-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Rob and Elisa were extremely welcoming to my girlfriend and I, and the room they have is exactly as described. When we arrived, Elisa greeted us at the door with her adorable little dog, and then she showed us around the house. Elisa is an artist, and she has her studio in the lower end of the house, which you can check out if you want. The house and her art is very unique, and I would absolutely recommend staying here if you get the chance!

    Charlie2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly unique space. It is not often you get a very comfortable night's stay and an art show at the same time. Elisa was very welcoming and helpful, and the room and furnishings were all lovely, comfortable and well cared for. Great stay!

POUGHKEEPSIE: Home to 4 colleges (Vassar, Marist, Dutchess Community & The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park), Poughkeepsie is both a college town and a city in transition with a diverse blue collar urban community. With close proximity to restaurants and cultural destinations, Poughkeepsie allows you to experience the conveniences of “small city” life while only being a 10 minute drive from the country. A historic industrial port city, Poughkeepsie is currently going through an exciting resurgence, characterized by a grassroots local food movement, farm-to-table restaurants, and a number of revitalization projects, including the renowned Walkway Over the Hudson, the world’s longest pedestrian bridge spanning the width of Hudson River. The Walkway connects the Dutchess County and Ulster County rail trails, making Poughkeepsie a destination for bike enthusiasts. Vassar College and the city’s south side also make for wonderful bike routes with cute residential streets, historic homes, and lots of trees. We love Poughkeepsie for its diversity – its people, its culture – and the way it encompasses the full socio-economic spectrum, from its pristine college campuses to the developing commercial zone and restaurant scene in the historic main street corridor. Poughkeepsie is an exciting place with a unique energy, and an ideal home base for experiencing the rest of the Historic Hudson Valley. THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Gray Street, where the guest house is located, is a residential, tree-lined street in a transitioning neighborhood 5 minutes from Vassar College. The neighborhood is a blend of everything from young entrepreneurs, academics, government workers, tradespeople and low income families. The guest house sits across from Forbus Butternut Park, a 1-acre greenspace overseen by a local non-profit. There is a church on the other side of the park, and the Poughkeepsie High School and football field is about 2 blocks away. During the day, kids sometimes play in the street, but for the most part it's very quiet since Gray Street isn’t a major thoroughfare. AROUND THE REGION: Because Poughkeepsie is centrally located, it makes for a great jumping off point to explore the rest of the Hudson Valley region. Towns like Beacon, New Paltz, Rosendale, Millbrook, Hyde Park and Rhinebeck are all within an easy drive with lots of things to see along the way. Hudson, The Catskills, Cold Spring, Phoenicia and the Berkshires all make for wonderful day trips – full of meandering country drives, antiquing, hiking, fishing, wine-tasting, museum-hopping, or cooling off in a swimming hole. I run a blog that’s dedicated to travel, food and culture in the region called An Upstate of Mind, and I’m happy to send along recommendations for our favorite spots tailored around whatever you like to do. The surrounding Upstate NY towns are lovely, but to make for a full day, it’s sometimes good to combine a few destinations into a “mini road trip” that lets you soak in the local flavor and experience the sprawling natural settings the Hudson Valley is known for.
  • We had a great time in Poughkeepsie for my brother's graduation. We rented a house that had been built into two apartments from Seth and it was perfect for our group- easy to find and decorated very nicely. We were a 5-10 minute car ride from everything so the location was convenient.

    Janine2014-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Seth provided a whirlwind of helpful information for my two friends from Seattle. Both agreed, sharing a quiet home in an established neighborhood beat the clatter and frenetic bustle of a local hotel. The immaculate house with its eclectic artwork put my guests at ease. Thanks Seth!

    Stan2014-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Seth's house was just perfect and exactly what we were looking for. We wanted to escape the city and we found everything we needed. We highly recommend Seth's house. Seth is very helpful and will give you all the information about restaurants and attracctions. Look out the windows at night and if you are lucky you will be able to see classy deers walking around.

    Sabrina2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Seth's place was the perfect launching pad for our week in Poughkeepsie. We spent each day visiting the many attractions in the area and the evenings cooking, eating in and enjoying the comfortable Gray Street apartment.

  • We stayed here for Marist graduation weekend and had a great time. The place was immaculate and perfect for our trip. The house is located close to downtown Poughkeepsie and close to Marist and Vassar as well as the CIA.

    Adrian2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Seth's place is really incredible. My girlfriend and I have been using Airbnb for the past two years whenever we travel and Seth's place was one of the nicest (if not the nicest) Airbnb experience and home we have stayed in. Everything was clean & extremely comfortable. It felt like home the moment we stepped inside.

    James2014-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place carefully decorated with a great sense of aesthetics. Would highly recommend this place for a week-end getaway. Seth was a great host, providing the best of service and going beyond the expected.

    Erik2014-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • I attended an introductory sommelier examination with a coworker at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. Seth's place was perfect since it offered a room with a nice bed for my girlfriend and I, as well as a separate living room with a pull-out couch for my coworker. The place was only five minutes drive from CIA and had a great kitchen that we out to use the second night of the stay. The house is also a great example of what appears to be a slow urban renaissance in Poughkeepsie. Very well decorated and stocked.

  • We loved staying with Troy for the second time this year. He is always welcoming and gracious. We enjoyed getting an update on his latest business ventures and always love the company of his dogs or "the girls". He is a wonderful host and doubt this will be our last visit.

  • Nice stay. Was sorry to miss breakfast!

  • Staying with Troy was an absolute Norwegian dream! I studied at Vassar and know the area well, but had never visited the Vanderbilt Estate. Luckily after our delicious 3 course breakfast, Troy offered us a tour of the gardens! Troy lives right off of Rt. 9, which is convenient for all of my favorite Hudson Valley destinations! Looking forward to staying with Troy again!

    Lauren2015-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Troy is an exceptional and considerate host. Stayed for 1 night with my girlfriend and instantly made us fell welcome. His home is beautiful and provided a wonderful little retreat for our stay. His breakfast of traditional Norwegian fair is extraordinary with no expense spared. Bravo Troy!

  • Felt welcome, listing was accurate, nice neighborhood.

    Kris2015-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Troy is very organized and everything was as described. He gave us tips on how to find our way around the beautiful Hudson Valley.

    Ken2016-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Troy served a fantastic, authentic Scandinavian breakfast. I loved all the candles on the table and the many Norwegian decorations in the house.

A Scandinavian Comtemporary home with a great host!
Wonderful neighborhood up from the Hudson RIver. River views in the Fall, Winter and Spring. Quiet with a sound of the train whistle
  • Troy is a terrific host. He serves an excellent Scandanavian breakfast and makes his home comfortable and accommodating for guests. Troy lives on a quiet street that is pleasant to come home to. He tends to a large garden in the backyard which gives the place a rustic feel even though it is centrally located to the hyde park and poughkeepsie attractions. I hope to visit Troy again in the future. Great stay!

  • Really great comfortable house with nice stylistic touches. Loved our stay here! Troy was an excellent host and the 3 course Norwegian breakfast he cooked for us was wonderful. Would really recommend staying here. It is very close to the Culinary Institute, the Vanderbilt mansion and Rhinebeck (for multiple other restaurants).

-Private entrance with keyless passcode entry -1 Bedroom with queen size bed -Spacious living room -Dining room for up to 4 guests -Newly renovated bathroom -Brand new appliances -Verizon Fios TV and Internet -Two off street parking spots -Outdoor patio and BBQ area -Air Conditioning -Fresh towels and linens -Iron -Blow Dryer -Coffee/Tea/Bottled Water
Built over 100 years ago as a chicken hatchery, this gorgeous little gem has been fully restored as a two-story guest cottage. Located in New Paltz just minutes off Exit 18 on I-87 in a very private, quiet, country setting. Only ten minutes from New Paltz Village & SUNY New Paltz and set back on a lightly traveled road for those long summer strolls. You don't even need a car to get here! It's just 12 minutes by taxi from the New Paltz Bus Station or bring your bike up and cycle everywhere!
The Little Yellow Cottage displays much of it's original construction including post and beam, stained glass in the cupola (even an original stained glass portrait of Abraham Lincoln!) and a screened in porch for breakfast with a view or just hanging out. Inside you’ll find a spiral staircase and all the 21st century amenities you’d expect, including radiant in-floor heat, AC, TV, wi-fi and laundry in the full kitchen. One queen bed sleeps two on the ground level and one Murphy bed sleeps a single on the lower level. Private picnic table right outside. And the postal code may say Highland, but the Little Yellow Cottage is really in New Paltz!
Check out the funky art hub of New Paltz or SUNY New Paltz just 10 minutes away or climb the Shawanagunk Mountains 15 minutes away. You don’t even need a car! Bring your bike up on the bus or train and take a taxi ($12) to the Little Yellow Cottage. Cycle the 20 minutes into New Paltz or even spend a day on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail also just 20 minutes away. Talk a long walk on a quiet country road and snap a selfie at the tranquil Black Creek just a minute away.
  • We called it our little tree house in the woods, a beautiful yellow cottage that met all of our needs, was very relaxing, and had a lovely screened in porch where we had all of our meals. It was spotless with every amenity you could want, quiet, had bright natural light streaming in and was so convenient to New Paltz and all of the sights in the Hudson River Valley. Justin is a wonderful host and responded quickly to any issues that arose. My husband and I would gladly stay here again.

    Ellen2018-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as pictured, tiny house but very tasteful and just what we needed.

  • We really enjoyed our 4 day vacation at the little yellow (Website hidden by Airbnb) is conveniently located close to New Paltz and to several trails in the area. The cottage has all the necessary amenities and it is sparkling clean. For us,the highlight was the screened in porch ,where we often served our breakfast or just enjoyed listening to the birds' free concerts! Justin was very quick to answer all our questions via email, and even checked out with us in person following an unfortunate mishap in the area(that was promptly taken care of). The suggestions in the cottage handouts were great. We tried out a few,but The Village Tearoom was by far our favorite! We hope to be able to visit this property again in the future.

  • The Yellow Cabin is the perfect place to stay in New Paltz, we absolutely loved it and there were incredible amenities and Justin was an amazingly responsive and accommodating host. One of my best airbnb experiences.

    Cindy2018-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Justin’s place is great - very modern, sparkling clean and very well located. Just be aware it is on the smaller side, so you wouldn’t be spreading out as a family or large group.

    Preeti2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • I spent a very peaceful 8 days in this space resting while on a trip to the area for business. It was a welcome reprieve from the local hotels and an astonishing and whimsical space. Justin was attentive and detail-oriented in all communication with me and the space was great. Definitely consider this lovely place when traveling to the area.

This spacious suite is peaceful, & wooded with separate entrance, patio, wifi, full kitchen, bathroom (small shower), queen bed, sleeper sofia, TV (uses fire stick, wifi & blu-ray, no cable) Local (seasonal) sites to see: Walkway over the Hudson, FDR Home & Library (Hyde Park, 14 mi.away), Culinary Institute (11 Mi), Vassar College, Highland Landing Park, Old Kingston (original site of NYS Capital), SUNY New Paltz, Antique stores of NP, Huguenot Village, Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Mtn House.
We're unique because we live in a rural setting, yet within a few miles of - Mohonk, apple orchards, vineyards, 5 colleges, The Walkway Over the Hudson, etc. We also are 10 minutes from the train to NYC. *If you come from NYC by train - we offer pickup roundtrip for $10 (please make sure you ask if you need this.)
We fondly call our neighborhood, "the Outback," because we're in the woods. 1. The biggest plus is the peacefulness and we are centrally located near SUNY New Paltz and Vassar Colleges. There are also 2 community colleges nearby as well. 2. We regularly have a family of wild turkeys, deer, and red tailed hawks coming through the yard. Of course the usual chipmunks, ground hogs and squirrels. We even had a huge, beautiful large Owl land right outside the Suite window this past spring.
  • Kit was very prompt about contacting us prior to arrival and making plans for us to secure the key before our late night check-in. Kit was very generous in her stocking of the refrigerator.

    Susan2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Kit & Mark are great hosts and made sure that our stay was comfortable. We will definitely stay at their place on our next trip to the area.

    Vinay2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Kit and Mark's country cottage was the perfect place to stay. They were incredibly accommodating, even asking about dietary preferences. When I told Kit I had celiac disease she was kind enough to put a loaf of gluten free bread in the fridge. The home was warm and welcoming and central to many great locations while providing a quiet getaway. My friend and I had a great stay and look forward to returning!

    Courtney2017-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed staying at Kit's place near Highland. It's very comfortable and quiet, and provides plenty of space and conveniences. The kitchen is great and much appreciated. I didn't use the laundry facilities but they'd come in handy for a longer stay. I'll be back if I have a chance!

    Michael2016-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very private, clean nice space. Private entrance with full kitchen, batch and bedroom in other room. Spacious and comfortable. Kit and Mark were very nice.

    Lisa2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • This unit perfectly matched our expectations. It was very clean and a great value. We really appreciated the kitchen and the food basics that Kit provided.

    Sara2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our stay. Providing food in the fridge was so thoughtful - even almond milk to cater to my dietary restrictions. Having a kitchen with handy full size washer dryer was awesome. And the forested yard was lovely - I spent a peaceful morning on the patio watching the leaves fall.

    Kim2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Kit and Mark were very attentive hosts and wanted to make sure that our stay was comfortable and happy. We enjoyed being able to cook a meal after having been traveling for a few days. They really thought of everything you might need in the kitchen. The bed was super comfortable, not just for sleeping, but for sitting up and reading as well. Great hosts. Great value.

A snug, rustic getaway only 75 miles from New York City. Our newly renovated barn is near fine restaurants and the banks of the Hudson River. Visit Storm King or the Walkway over the Hudson, go hiking, travel our Craft Beverages, Distilleries and Wine Trail! Take in New Paltz, Hyde Park, Woodstock, Rhinebeck for fun shops, restaurants and history. A truly gracious space with top reviews, we are easy to get to by train or car and Uber is available. Have a wonderful getaway in the Hudson Valley!
I am told again and again that our photos don't reflect the beauty and size of the space. It is quite large and very pretty! We hope you will love the antiques, artwork, and amenities. Fully renovated, it has a large great room, a galley kitchen, a dining area, a lounging/TV area, a sitting and reading corner, and a queen sleeper sofa. The separate bedroom has a queen sized bed and a washer and dryer. There is a deck for lounging, al fresco dining and enjoying the gardens. We supply handmade soaps, fair trade coffee, and Sonoma linens and high speed wifi. We are located in an old Quaker part of the village of Milton. The barn was used for the gardens and greenhouses that were part of the original larger property. There are beautiful gardens all around the house and the river is at the foot of the hill! There is also a lake behind the house and an old Quaker cemetery next door. Very friendly neighbors! However this property is not a farm; it is in an active neighborhood with country life going on. The barn was originally used for the gardens, not farm animals. Since we live on property and have close neighbors we ask that you be respectful if you are returning late at night by being quiet and turning off outside lights. Unfortunately we don't feel that our space is suitable for children under 12.
We are very central to everything the Hudson Valley offers The Poughkeepsie train station is 5 miles away and taxis, Uber, car rental and Zipcars are available from the station. We are within a short driving distance from Vassar, Marist, SUNY New Paltz, and several other colleges and schools. A partial list of attractions and distances: In Milton and Marlborough We are very fortunate to have a world class music and art venue in the neighborhood. Please make sure to drop by THE FALCON for brunch or dinner, drinks, and amazing artwork and music! We also have many fine vineyards in town; you can visit them by following our very own Shawangunk Wine trail Bad Seed Hard Cider Tasting Orchards- Fruit picking Riverfront Park Nearby Another local claim to fame, the Walkway Over the Hudson, is in Highland NY, 4 miles north. It is the highest pedestrian walkway in the world and a breathtaking experience! Make sure to take it in, it is easy to find and has lots of parking. Rail Trail Biking and Hiking-Ulster and Dutchess County Fanny Reese Park- Highland NY. Hiking Minnewaska State Park, Gardiner NY. • Jennie's place was fantastic! The beautiful unit was separated from the main house with private entrance. The living area was huge and the master bed was very comfy. With the sofa bed, the place can host four people. Jennie was super nice. She gave us clear directions to the house prior to our trip, offered options of dining and contacted us right away when she found we left our wallet in her place after checking out. We recommend this place with no reservations.

  • This was my second Airbnb stay, Veronie's is well located and extremely quiet. Check in and check out were both very good. Thankyou for such a lovely stay and I hope to return soon!

    Matt2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Thank goodness for Veronie! She was gracious in hosting me and my friend on very short notice. The place was comfortable, spacious, and just what we needed after a long day. It was definitely a home away from home!

    Dia2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • We drove up from NYC and this was the perfect place for a relaxing weekend - Veronie made check-in/out worry-free and was an ideal host. The "in-law suite" type room was exactly as advertised. We would definitely return here!

    Christiane2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at this Airbnb, so that tells you something right off the bat. Perfect location for exploring the Hudson River Valley. Everything you need - super relaxing living space with big screen tv and fireplace, Keurig with all the fixings, mini fridge, microwave, desk/chair, comfy queen bed, bathroom with shower stall (no tub), washer/dryer. Oh - and garage parking! Veronie was very accommodating to our schedule, as we were arriving super late and arranged to get us access. And we were in and out alot during our 4 night stay, with the comfort of knowing that if there were any issues (there weren't) we would get an immediate response from Veronie. Since our last stay, the space has been upgraded to a smart tv, which is a great amenity. A completely positive experience once again. We would definitely recommend and fully intend to stay again! FYI - in my vast Airbnb experience (LOL), I would definitely categorize this space as "Entire house/apt" instead of "Private room" because there is no shared space. You have complete privacy with a private entrance and no access to the remainder of the house.

    Shelby2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very spacious room with all the amenities I wanted- and more. Veronie was very quick to respond to my questions and change in arrival plans. The room was even better than the description. I really liked staying in her quiet neighborhood. You will, too!

    Judy2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • La chambre est parfaite ! Il y tout le confort, beaucoup d’espace. On dort bien !

    Marion2018-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great pleasure staying at Veronies. The space was perfect for our over extended week long stay. Veronie was accommodating as soon as we arrived, making sure we had everything we needed. The furniture was comfy, the service was great. There's premium channels, showtime, HBO, etc on the tv--that was nice. In all, the stay was excellent and our host was the best.

The kitchen was fully stocked with pots plans and flatware. The gas grill outside means you can eat on the wraparound deck! Bed was very comfortable and white crisp sheets were great to sleep in. The TV is even mounted so you can pull the TV out to watch it in bed :) If you are a light sleeper, this place might not be right for you -- the train will go by at night or early in the morning. We were fine after closing the windows. The light is also amazing -- remember to put down shades/ do AC accordingly. Jim was communicative and helpful. We loved his place and would stay here for the comfortable cottage and the AMAZING view!

  • Wow. Jim’s cottage was absolutely perfect. This quiet and quaint escape right on the Hudson River is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy truly spectacular views and amenities. After staying in several Airbnb’s, I can say that Jim’s place hits all the notes you need it to and more. The thoughtful touches add to the experience, including tips and suggestions from Jim on local attractions, menus from some favorite local eateries, a truly amazing mattress, bottled waters in the fridge and coffee and tea K-Cups as well as a full kitchen and grill on the porch. The cottage is so clean and well designed, with lovely fixtures and a truly amazing shower. It really has a boutique hotel feel, but with views and privacy that can’t be beat. There is a little train noise, but being from NYC, it didn’t bother us a bit and we hardly noticed it. In fact, I might say it added to the experience, along with the noises from the river as well. Jim is so welcoming and lovely. He was quite responsive leading up to the trip, sending personalized suggestions, and even stopping by on the morning of our departure to ask if we enjoyed our stay and if there was anything that would have added to it. I can’t truly say there wasn’t. It was perfect. You can tell Jim takes pride in this place, and it’s the sort of special spot you want to return to again and again. In fact we are already looking at the 2019 calendar. Can’t say enough good things about this place, it’s a must book.

  • This is a wonderful and unique airbnb. The privacy, the quality amenities, and especially the deck and view as you relaxed over (not just overlooking) the Hudson River made us want to never leave. We did in fact enjoy many meals we brought in rather than eat out. The proximity to Hyde Park activities was perfect. And Jim is very easy to communicate with. We enthusiastically recommend this as a couple's getaway!!.

    Craig2018-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Need an escape? The visions of blue skies, green trees and a majestic river. The gentle sounds of lapping waves and the very quiet purr of the occasional passing Amtrak (5 seconds in length) will soothe you. Jim is a great host. He is welcoming and available while allowing your privacy. The cottage provides everything you need - so much so that you might not want to leave! The cottage and its topnotch amenities were clearly designed with your comfort in mind. It's a gem!

  • Little out of the way cottage right over the water. Nice private spot. Great view. Perfect to spend a few days relaxing.

  • What an incredible spot! Modern amenities, extremely clean, and the best view on the Hudson River. Centrally located to all the sights in Hyde Park. We loved coming back to this home after a long day of exploring. Jim was responsive and helpful providing lots of fun things to do in the area. We look forward to staying here again for our next visit to Hudson Valley!

  • Wonderful stay at Tom and Mo’s listing! A lot of space and amenities for the price paid. Huge yard, quiet area, very clean and a 20 Min drive to our destination that weekend, the Culinary Institute of America. Tom was quick to respond to all questions, and they left very thoughtful touches in the fridge and bathroom. Would definitely stay here again!

    Kim2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Tom and Mo's place was fantastic! It's an amazing value. The price is great, the location can't be beat, and the thoughtful touches they include are heartwarming (OJ, water, English muffins, chips, etc.). We can't wait to come back for another visit. An added bonus, Tom offered us tickets for the Walkway over the Hudson fireworks show. We were too busy to take them up on the offer, but it was very thoughtful!

    Adam2018-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodations at this Airbnb exceeded our expectations and we would definitely book again in the future.

  • This was possibly the best Airbnb experience we've had after 3 years of using Airbnb. The place was spacious yet cozy and absolutely spotless. Lots of nice touches: snacks, bottled water, soap, etc. Highly recommended.

    Kenneth2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb home was more spacious then we had even thought going into it. Tom/Mo did a great job of decorating the place and the amenities were out of this world. They provided everything you could imagine...chips, popcorn, milk, lots of water, cereal and the list goes on. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever stayed at a place where the host was so considerate/generous. When we walked in they even had the ac and fans on for us which was awesome after a hot/humid day. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommended it to anyone traveling through New Paltz and staying in town for the night.

    John2018-09-07T00:00:00Z

  • My brother and I stayed at Seth's apartment over a weekend and had an amazing experience. The place is beautifully decorated, the bookshelf is stocked with classics and must-reads and the location makes it a perfect home base to explore upstate NY. Seth went above and beyond in providing us with suggestions on what to do, where to eat, where to hike, etc. We managed to hit many of the items on his list, and we were not disappointed a single time. We couldn't have been happier with the apartment, and we can't imagine there being a better place to stay or a better host to have in Poughkeepsie.

    David2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Seth was a great host, ready to welcome and help his guests. His house is lovely and homely.

    Caroline2017-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • I found The Poet Guest House to be exactly as described. I was visiting Poughkeepsie for a Vassar College event and it’s less than a mile from campus, so very convenient. I’m a middle aged woman and felt very safe and comfortable in the home. The bed was very comfortable and I loved the furnishings. Every meal I had was at the suggestion of Seth, and all were excellent. The unexpected gift was Seth’s thorough knowledge of places to eat within an hours drive, and suggestions of things to do in the surrounding towns. While I didn’t have time for those things on this trip, I plan to file away his research! I would stay here again if I’m up in that area.

    Ginny2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Seth's place is really nice, my wife and I felt at home there. He gave us a lot of good tips on what to do and where to go while visiting upstate. I will totally recommend his place.

    Fred2018-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Convenient location very near but not in downtown. Cozy flat nicely decorated with art, nicnacs, antiques and comfortable furniture. Windows on all sides.

    Stuart2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Poet guesthouse is a great place to stay as a home base for exploring the Hudson valley. Seth gave great, extensive recommendations for activities and restaurants in area. He has done an excellent job of decorating the guesthouse and has established an ease of use for staying at the guesthouse. The guesthouse was clean and had all the amenities one would need. I highly recommend staying at the Poet guesthouse if staying in or exploring the Hudson valley.

    Ben2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Seth is a great host! He gave us tons of local information. I wish we had rented a car sooner to take advantage of it all. And the AC was a lifesaver.

    Sophia2018-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Place was clean, everything was as described, and easy to find. Quiet street and just a short ride from the main part of town. Seth was helpful, and gave all the info you could possibly need about the place and the area before arrival. Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in the poughkeepsie area.

  • Mariama was kind enough to accept my lodging request and accommodate me despite a change in her personal schedule. Her and her son were lovely hosts. The house had private and street parking, so finding a spot was never an issue. Oreo the cat was gentle and friendly. Before arriving I was worried about there being cat hair everywhere, but if it wasn't for me seeing the cat occasionally, and it's food dish, I wouldn't have realized they had one. Another gem was that my bedroom had a lock with a key that I could take with me. That made me feel safe. Thanks for everything!

  • This was my first Airbnb experience and it will be hard to top. Loraine is a gracious host and makes her entire home available for guests. She really cares that people have a great experience and feel welcome in her home. She invited me to join her family for dinner and provided more amenities than a much more expensive boutique hotel or B&B. She has a pool, bikes, local wines, preserves, and soaps available for your enjoyment! Definitely a solid choice!

    Keith2015-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Loraine's home was quaint and tidy. Everything was thoroughly labeled and anything we needed was easily assessable. Loraine wasn't present during our stay but her response to all inquiries were prompt. I definitely recommend staying here!

  • I was visiting Fishkill NY, we made the reservation only a few hours before we showed up, Deborah’s husband was there to check us in, he is such a sweet heart. The bed and room are super comfortable, they have 2 dogs they are super friendly. Everyone was very nice, anytime I needed anything they responded really quick. During checkout he made sure how our stay went. After I checked out I realized I had lost my wedding ring, it’s been in my family for 3 generations!!! They found it for me and brought it to me!!! I can’t thank them enough, no words are enough to express my gratitude!! With that said I would definitely stay again!!! They are amazing host !

  • Debbie was quick to accept our reservation request and her communication was fast and helpful. Check in was so easy and she even offered us cheese and crackers when we arrived! Her place is within driving distance of many restaurants, shops and parks. We felt safe in her home and in her neighborhood. There was a heatwave while we were in town. She has a lovely above ground swimming pool that she said we could use...wish we had brought our swimsuits!!

    Tammy2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • My second stay at Debbie's, (although technically my third, because I had to split the reservation). Her family is very helpful and friendly. They even went above and beyond by upgrading their Internet to help me with some pretty intense business data transfer requirements. I'll be back for another stay around January. Thanks to Debbie, family, and dogs for a warm, friendly oasis at the end of some very long, physically demanding work days!

  • This place is a gem! Let me start by telling you I had a crazy trip into NY with canceled flights and transportation problems, but linda helped me with a very late check in, no problem! The place is easy to find and prettier than the pictures! It has all the amenities, fast internet, toiletries, super clean, and a really safe neighborhood. She even leaves bottled water in the fridge, a kureg with all types of pods and yummy snacks. She has an printed out sheet with instructions on how to use all the appliences and the huge screen tv, plus takeout menus and activities in the area. The Air conditioner worked so so well! It is a little off the beaten path so it is very quiet which I needed. But it was only 10 minutes from the mall and other major shopping centers and restaurants. I am in NY often and I will definitely stay with her again. Did I mention how nice and welcoming she is, though I had complete privacy. Just a great experience! I felt like I was coming home at the end of the day instead of a cold hotel room.

  • Great stay ! Very comfortable, thoughtfully furnished with all you could need. Tasteful decorations, quite clean and perfect for a weekend away with 2 cadets. We got quick responses from Cynthia and she was very accommodating. Snacks water and especially coffee (Keurig) was so appreciated. Really a great experience. Location could not be more perfect!!

Our host was amazingly welcoming, emailing us before the trip and answering our questions during our visit. And such thoughtfulness! • Cynthia's place was perfect. Very clean, close to historic sites, CIA, and a grocery store. Her personal touches and extra supplies, toiletries, and snacks made the stay even better! I'd definitely recommend this house.

  • This was a perfect stay. The house is clean, well-decorated with a well-appointed kitchen. Cynthia thought of every detail a guest night need. She was communicative, flexible and gave great recommendatons. There were nice touches like extra snacks and water. Very modern and functional with a great location near sites and stores. I highly recommend.

  • Cynthia's beautiful and welcoming house was truly ideal. I happened to arrive a bit early, so Cynthia was there to show me around. Everything was bright and freshly cleaned. The kitchen and bathroom were very well stocked with anything that you'd ever need - from coffee and snacks to shampoo and toothpaste. I found it very easy to find, with a driveway for off-street parking. Every room was very spacious and nicely decorated (everything looked new!). Great wifi connection. Cynthia was excellent with quick and friendly communication and was very flexible and understanding in accommodating a last-minute shift with my plan. I would happily stay here again!

    Erin2017-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this home and Cynthia was fabulous! Will definitely stay again when visiting the CIA.

The home is located on 3 acres of peaceful, wooded property with a pond and fountain in the front. A private entrance leads to the guest suite, with a living space, kitchen area, and separate bedroom and bath with shower. We are close to Hyde Park Historic Sites, the Culinary Institute of America, and local colleges. Welcome!
  • Doris is a delightful, well-prepared host. The location is beautiful and restful. The drive to the Roosevelt’s Hyde Park site is easy. Good value for money.

    Robert2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Doris has thought of everything and leaves delicious treats. Great accommodations with a touch of home. It was nice and quiet and it is in a beautiful location nestled in the trees with a pond. We will stay here again.

    Jim2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Doris went above and beyond to ensure that we had a lovely stay. We were coming to town for a conference, and experienced a host of delays and challenges, but she was prepared for anything and accommodated everything we might have needed. She is a local and has many tips for new visitors, which is great for getting the most out of your Hyde Park experience. Loved staying with her, and I hope many more stay at the House by the Pond- thanks Doris for making our trip a good one!

    Rachael2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is super-cozy and comfortable, set in a beautiful natural place. We spent a great weekend, the privacy has been absolute. I would recommend this place to anyone! 5 Stars.

  • Doris took every effort to make sure our stay was comfortable. Her hospitality went above and beyond with the fruit plate and muffins as well as the warm welcome at check in. I highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area and feel right at home.

  • Doris is super nice, and provides lots of snacks!

    Brianna2018-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The place was beautiful. Doris made our stay especially enjoyable. She is kind and very accommodating. The property is beautiful and is a wonderful place if you're looking for a nature walk and scenic roads. The pond is a great addition. It would have been nice to have a stove to cook food, but there was a microwave and Doris provided us with many lovely snacks including home-made muffins. It is a quiet, peaceful area with stores and diners that are around 7 minute drive away. Definitely would recommend. Did I mention how lovely our host Doris was?(:

  • First time using Airbnb to attend a friends wedding and I have to admit that I am floored by the hospitality and cleanliness of Neelam place. He and his wife welcomed us with open arms and provided a spectacular experience from beginning to end. P. S. The authentic homemade breakfast was to DIE for !!

    Michael2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Although we have used Airbnb in the past, this is the first time we have ever stayed in a guest room in someone’s house. We could not have asked for a better experience. Rocky and Neelam are absolutely lovely people and wonderful hosts. They made us feel so welcome in their beautiful and clean home. Upon arrival we were offered beverages and pastries. Our room was nice and air-conditioned and we were able to use the adjoining bedroom which fit our daughter’s travel crib. In the morning Neelam made us the most incredible Indian breakfast. We enjoyed our time talking with Rocky & Neelam. We became fast friends and we were sad our visit was only for one night. Next time we find ourselves in Poughkeepsie, we absolutely hope to stay here again. Thank you for opening up your home to us and we look forward to seeing you again!

  • This place is an amazing value. Wonderful accommodating hosts; awesome location next to the Hudson bridge walkway, restaurants, and hiking trails; super clean; and our hosts prepared one of the most delicious breakfasts I have ever had in my life. Our hosts went above and beyond in every respect.

    Andrea2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Rocky was an amazing host. He made sure I had everything I needed. Chatted with me for a bit but gave me my space. Made me delicious breakfast and showed me beautiful family photos. I felt very comfortable in his home. I didn’t get a chance to walk over the hudson but I will come back and stay at Rocky’s and Neelam’s. He also gave me a lot of other ideas of nice places around. Thanks Rocky!

  • So close to the walk over the Hudson, nice restaurant nearby. Hosts were friendly and very helpful concerning my questions about the area and the places I planned to visit .

  • Wonderful hospitality from this lovely couple. They are new to Airbnb and doing a great job. The house is a walkable from the train station; I was there for a wedding and had everything I needed. Wish I had more time to explore Hudson Valley. After breakfast, they dropped me off at the train station, too kind!

    Teresa2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot in Poughkeepsie, just two mins away from the walking bridge and two more from the train station. Very lovely and welcoming hosts.

  • The place to stay in Poughkeepsie! Neelam’s place was very clean and cozy and felt very homey. Neelam and her husband were very hospitable and friendly and made our stay so nice! They made delicious breakfast in the morning when we woke up and brought us water for the night to our room. I couldn’t ask for anything more from a very nice couple!

Relax in a tastefully-appointed early 1900s Craftsman home. Beautiful natural light with views overlooking College Hill Park. An easy drive to Beacon, Rhinebeck, Millbrook, New Paltz, Hudson and the Catskills. A short walk to The Walkway Over the Hudson & Dutchess County Rail Trail.
A welcoming turn of the century Craftsman home located at the end of a small private street overlooking Poughkeepsie's largest green space, College Hill Park (once the grounds of a women's college). Guest Rooms 1 & 2 on the second floor feature one queen-sized bed and one full-sized bed respectively. Included with your stay: - Bedding, towels and additional linens - Wireless high-speed internet - TV (Cable & Apple TV) - Dishwasher - Microwave - Gas stove & oven - Refrigerator & freezer - Outdoor gas grill - Cooking utensils, mixing bowls, pots & pans - Dishes, eating utensils, etc. - Coffee maker (drip) - Coffee, coffee filters & tea - Hairdryer - Air conditioning
POUGHKEEPSIE: What we love about Poughkeepsie is its diversity – its people, its culture – and the way it encompasses the full socio-economic spectrum – from the pristine campus at Vassar to the developing commercial zone and restaurant scene in the historic main street corridor. Home to 4 colleges (Vassar, Marist, Dutchess Community & The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park), Poughkeepsie is both a college town and a city in transition with a diverse blue collar urban community. With close proximity to restaurants and cultural destinations, Poughkeepsie allows you to experience the conveniences of “small city” life while only being a 10 minute drive from the country. THE NEIGHBORHOOD: The house is located on a quiet dead end street overlooking College Hill Park, Poughkeepsie’s largest greenspace. There are only 6 houses on the street and all the neighbors know each other. It’s a family-friendly, chill environment. We’re a block away from the Dutchess County Rail Trail, leading to the Walkway Over the Hudson (about a 10 minute walk). Reservoir Street is part of a blue collar and light commercial neighborhood. Because of its proximity to the park, the area around the house is quiet and even slightly secluded feeling since the rolling landscape blocks out the activity from the central part of the city.
  • Seth was in every way an extraordinary host. This house is a true gem in a yet-to-be gentrified part of Poughkeepsie, NY. The house is beautifully decorated with an eclectic mix 20th century classics, carefully curated artwork and original posters. There are also a some fascinating antique machines on display. We're a couple who really appreciate good taste when we see it and Seth's home is truly enchanting. We'd definitely stay again when in the area.

    Ole2018-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great little home right on heart of town. Easy to check in/out and good recommendations for local things to do. Look forward to staying again.

    Eric2018-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at this Hudson Valley charmer. The dining room table affords a large group of people and the kitchen was perfect to cook up an amazing family dinner. We loved Seth's art collection and as well as his collection of antiquities. We will definitely stay again!

    Jennifer2013-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated house at the far end of a quiet street, very close to Walkway over the Hudson and a short walk to restaurants / cafes in Poughkeepsie town. Seth is a very helpful and accommodating host and I will be looking to stay again. Great communication all round and Seth has lots of suggestions for great places to visit.

    Mark2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. The proximity to the Walkway over the Hudson and the Hudson Valley Rails to Trails was a favorite highlight. In our spare time, we biked all around and explored Poughkeepsie. What an interesting blend of urban and outdoors.

    Julie2018-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very charming home, with vintage art and very interesting old gadgets displayed throughout the house to enjoy. The house was very clean and comfortable. Seth went out of his way to communicate both ahead and during our visit. He also provided good suggestions on day trips and local restaurants. The house is very close to the Gateway over the Hudson state park which is a converted 19th c train trestle that you can walk across all of the way to the western side. We did have to drive to most of the other local attractions though since there weren't many amenities within the immediate vicinity, but it was easy to park at the house and very easy to find parking near wherever we wanted to g, none of which were very far away. We will definitely book there again if we find ourselves in Poughkeepsie.

    Doug2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautifully appointed house on a quiet street in a fairly safe portion of Poughkeepsie near the Hyde Park line. Very communicative host and a good launching pad for those exploring the Hudson River Valley or visiting Vassar, Marist, or the Culinary Institute.

    Heather2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful AirBnB! We were here for a wedding and found this to be a perfect spot to relax with old friends and get ready for the event at Vassar College. It was even more lovely than the photos can show. While it was an incredibly hot weekend, there were air conditioners throughout the house. Seth was easy to get in touch with and replied quickly. We'd definitely recommend this spot.

Our place is all about comfort and convenience! It is under 5 mins from the NYS Thruway and not far from public transport. Close to nature, Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Preserve, rock climbing, skydiving, Walkway Over the Hudson, Rail Trails and much more. Located less than 10 mins. from the fun and friendly village of New Paltz and in the heart of the amazing Hudson Valley full of activities, farms, restaurants and bars. The house is great for couples, solo adventurers and business travelers.
Our charming farmhouse is set on approximately one acre. The back of the property is forest, with many beautiful old trees around. There has been several exciting wildlife sightings, like foxes, bald eagles, turtles and more! The house is spacious, clean and welcoming. It is never a full time residence so it is not cluttered with daily living items. When you walk into the house you enter the well-stocked, eat-in kitchen (which guests have complete but shared access to). Up the stairs and to the right you will find a beautifully and thoughtfully prepared master bedroom with natural light, views of gorgeous trees and amenities including a Sealy Posturpedic King Size bed, high quality bedding, room darkening shades, TV with streaming capabilities (BYOL--bring your own login-info), a window unit air conditioner (during the summer months), a free-standing fan and an empty dresser and closets for your use. Attached to the bedroom is the master bathroom that will be private to our guests. Both the bedroom and bathroom is private and lockable for the duration of your visit.
The house is situated in a mixed use area, which makes for many great conveniences. Very close by there is a mini-market with a deli, a liquor store, a diner, a gas station and a great Mexican Restaurant. Down the road there's some classic Hudson Valley farmland with an orchard that has a great local farm store, has hard cider tastings and has gourmet wood fired pizzas overlooking the awesome orchard landscape during the warmer months. The house is backed by forest and the yard has several beautiful old trees. A few things to note about the nearest neighboring properties. Since the area is mixed use, there are residential homes, as well as a small water treatment facility, a garden nursery and a backyard firewood business next door. We have rarely experienced issues relating to these neighboring properties. It’s just kind of a unique neighborhood. Please reach out to us if you have any questions.
  • Just the right amount of space with the bedroom and adjoining bathroom. Having a full kitchen was also a big plus when I ended up getting snowed in for a night and needed to cook for myself. The house was indeed very empty on the weekends; and maybe a little too quiet for someone who stayed alone, but then again I am a city girl! As mentioned in her description, the other business/offices did pick right back up Monday morning which was a bit of an adjustment to hear other voices and activity, but it was perfectly fine. You will essentially be on your own during the weekends and I did not get to meet Liz until I checked out. Everything was well-described and self-sufficient though, and minimal assistance was needed.

    Felicia2017-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Liz and Matt’s Place is perfectly located just outside town. The house was quite charming and we loved being able to get massages right there in the house. We’d definitely recommend staying there.

  • Had an absolutely splendid time staying at Liz's place! The location was top notch, as was the house itself. The bedroom was cozy and had everything to our liking. I unfortunately forgot my towel which I was so happy that she graciously provided for her guests! We ended up checking out the Pizza & Brewery place as well on her recommended list, and it turned out to be amazing! Thank you again for the quick responses and great hospitality!

  • My friend and I rode our bikes to stay with Van for 2 nights. He was very accommodating of our changing arrival time and request to safely store our bikes. Though we never met Van, he made key pickup and drop off very easy. The building was easy to find and within walking distance of the train station and various dining. The bedroom and entire living area was very clean and tidy. There were other guests staying in the apartment as well, but each bedroom is locked with a key, we always felt safe during our stay. We would absolutely stay again. Thank you Van.

  • Van left some treats in the basket which made for good snacks when we arrived and to hold us over before breakfast! The bottle of wine was a welcoming touch too. There were plenty of extras if we needed toiletries, and a hairdryer in the bathroom which were convenient. Everything was clean, and the room was as expected from the photos. Parking was available, entry instructions were clear and our host was very responsive in getting us what we needed (in our case some extra towels). It was a bit cool at night when we came in but the thermostat was easy to find. The air fresheners were a bit strong for me personally, however, they were removable, so it was an easy fix. All in all, everything was hassle free and exactly what we needed after a long day! Thanks Van!

  • As someone who has gown up in Hotel and Fine dining hospitality, it’s hard to be as impressed as we were when we were hosted by Ray and Irene. The level of thought and attention to every detail was unbelievable. From arriving on our wedding week to find a full pantry, fresh cut white roses to celebrate us getting married (even with custom a printed tag), and the signage inside mentioning both of our names, it was really an inspiring level of hospitality from the start. Throughout our stay, things only get better. From fresh eggs from their hens one day, to them offering us a tent when we asked if a couple family members could come by the day after the wedding, nothing was overlooked. I cannot recommend that you stay with them enough, unless of course that overlaps with a day we want to return instead.

  • What a fantastic stay we had at Ray and Irene's gorgeous loft! The setting is spectacular and it was extra special that we could bring our dogs with us. Ray greeted us upon our arrival and helped carry our bags in! They had an incredibly thoughtful gift basket for us filled with food, as well as a bottle of wine, and other essentials in the fridge. We highly recommend this rental -- it's really a little piece of heaven! We hope to visit again soon!

  • Irene and Ray are wonderful hosts. Our group of 5 were all happy and comfortable in the barn (doesn’t feel different from an apartment!) They have everything you may need to do activities in the area (fishing poles, canoes, beach towels, grill and tools, firewood, etc). You may notice small touches around the barn that speak to their attention to detail and focus on guests’ comfort :) Thank you Ray and Irene! We hope to be back soon.

  • Our stay at the Red Barn was wonderful. This was by far the best B&B we have stayed in. Every thoughtful detail made us feel at home. We loved the stock tank pool! By the end of the first day we were already thinking about when we can visit again.

  • Love is in the details and that is exactly why I fell in love with this place. The pictures speak for themselves but what people don't get to see are the small things like board games available or magazines and and an array of books. The bathroom was impeccable but what I loved the most about was that all the products such as soaps and shampoos were all vegan and environmentally friendly. And of course last by not least is the welcome. I've never felt so welcomed at stranger's place as much as I did by Billiam. Thank you! Definitely returning!

  • This place was great! It's beautifully furnished and very quiet. The house is a separate building on the same property as the hosts, so they were able to quickly help with whatever we needed. They were also really nice, and their beautiful orchard is just a few minutes walk down the road.

  • We spent two wonderful nights here. The place is beautiful and warm as are the hosts. New Paltz is a gorgeous little town and it was easy to get around even without a car. They went out of their way to be helpful and I really hope to return!

  • Nna's refurbished barn was a perfect country get away. Great outdoor adventures/hikes near by (15-20min), the BEST German food around (Gunk Haus), and lovely scenery wherever you traveled. The barn itself was a lovely stay. A pleasant bedroom with a cozy upstairs, kitchen, and bath with everything you needed, and all very reasonably priced. I would certainly come back again!

    Jennifer2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We didn't get a chance to meet Nna but Billiam was a fantastic host. He was warm and welcoming when we arrived at the house. The space is beautifully decorated and has all the amenities needed. Thanks to Billiam we also had a bag of delicious, organic apples from his farm to bring back with us. We had a relaxing stay and can't wait to go back in the spring!

  • The house was more lovely than the photos do it justice. We were fortunate to find this on a last moment trip to upstate and we were pleasantly surprised and happy. In contrast to our past experiences in Hudson Valley which have sometimes been not as stellar because the photos of the places were edited well yet did not match up to 'real' life. This place was wonderful and located in a picturesque little town. Nna was very fast in communicating and helping us get information for eating places on a late Friday nite and giving us updates on his plans and directions and tips. He was even waiting for us in his car before a meeting when we were running late to show us his beautiful house and make us feel like welcome visitors to the area. There was basket of apples from the farm waiting on the dining table. Everything was beautifully curated and we loved the "LOVE" sign on the kitchen wall. We felt truly welcome at Nna's place and I hope we can book time there again very soon.

  • I arrived at the house later then I intended, Janet was communicative and understanding as it pertained to my fluctuating arrival time. Once we got there, Christine was waiting and quickly gave a tour of the room and gave us instructions in regards to locking the door and the availability of the space heater. We made ourselves at home and enjoyed our night together as a couple would. At a point in the night after falling asleep, I awoke to find a message from Janet requesting us to check out in the morning. The host deemed noise loud and suggested we stay elsewhere. Upon reading the message we had apologized, asked politely if we could continue staying at it would've been inconvenient to go elsewhere, and we asked to speak with Janet the next morning before a proposed checkout. She relented in us leaving under the circumstance we respected their privacy. She did not seek to communicate personally but through Airbnb which was to her discretion. Throughout our first night sm staying, we had used the bathroom and the bowl would fill up with water. I tried to plunge it and let it settle. On the following day after stepping out I alerted Janet to our issue, she let us know the issue was resolved and presumed we had been throwing things in the toilet. We had only used the bathroom and flushed toilet paper in. She informed us of the proper way to flush her toilet, you must flush and turn the handle up so the water didn't continue to run. We noticed an odious smell within the bathroom and weren't sure if it was from the water or something else. The next day we stayed in and relaxed inside. It was pleasant, the bed was comfortable, everything was to our liking overall. During the day we heard footsteps and conversation alike which gave credence as to why we were heard the initial night. Janet asked us when we intended to checkout the night before we let her know. She gave instructions to us in regards to leaving the key inside and leaving the place as we found it. We checked out the next morning and left things we found them. Overall it was a good stay.

  • Perfect!! Comfortable Janet is a great host and was always there if I needed any thing.

    Richard2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Janet' she place was a convenient spot for us to commute to Omega Institute. It took about 20/25 min through a lovely and something winding road. A perfect base to sleep. The description in the presentation corresponds to what we found

Nice and private little cottage, we had a great time recovering from our jetlag in lovely Beacon (a special thanks to the birds in the garden). Dia:Beacon is a dream for lovers of contemporary art, do not miss it.

Love the Loft! We celebrated Christmas here and it was very cozy and comfortable. Rae put up tree and lights for us. So nice. The feel of the loft is modern and colorful. My sons used the ping pong table all the time and watched movies while laying on the huge pillow. Saugerties is adorable. We will return to check it out in a different season to make more use of the big roof deck.

Tasha made everything stress free the entire time we were there. Thanks for everything. Made my brother and his friends weekend.
