Just booked in Poughkeepsie

Just booked in Poughkeepsie
Sleep staring at stars! Featured in The New York Times, The Today Show & called by Forbes "The World's Most Beautiful Tiny House," the Hudson Valley Glass House is a magical getaway. Just 90 mins from NYC, but a world away. 30 acres of rolling hills give total privacy and isolation as glass walls open up onto endless views of vineyards, orchards, & wildlife (spy coyote, deer, & amazing birds!). Modern comforts (WiFi, A/C & a loaded kitchen) keep you from feeling like you've given anything up.
Hi! If you're thinking of booking, please message me first to confirm, and also please read the entire listing to the end as it likely answers any questions you may have... Welcome to The Glass House. Come see why Forbes called it "The World's Most Beautiful Tiny House" and called an "off-grid oasis" on The Today Show. Sleep staring at the stars and feel the stress melt away in this glass-enclosed tiny house (just 180 square feet!) retreat, just 90 minutes from NYC, but a world's away. This is a truly special place, and most people find it surprising that it can exist so close to New York. With all sorts of wildlife coming within inches of the house (don't be surprised if you see coyotes, families of deer, and every type of bird you could imagine), this is a truly immersive experience into nature. But despite its small size and isolated location, it is surprisingly luxurious on the inside. The listing includes: -A 180 square-foot glass-enclosed tiny house, offering spectacular 360-degree views of the Hudson Valley and surrounding vineyards and apple orchards -Lots of privacy on a 30-acre farm. -Outdoor dining and lounging furniture, along with access to a fire pit that you can definitely grill on. -A plush queen-sized bed with a super-comfy memory foam mattress and insanely comfortable pillows -A dining table with two chairs for sitting and eating. -A modern stainless-steel kitchen with a mini-fridge, induction cooktop for cooking, microwave, and electric kettle. Despite the small size, it has just about everything but a range oven. -Wi-Fi for keeping in touch with the real world and streaming shows on your personal devices. Also note that while the house is tiny and has a maximum occupancy of two people, I am sometimes able to accommodate larger parties for those bringing tents and willing to camp outside. Please inquire about pricing for such scenarios. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Q: Can I get to the house without a car? A: The house is about 25-minutes driving from the Beacon train station. If you choose not to drive the whole way there are Zipcar pickups at the train station (reserve in advance!) and Uber JUST launched in the area ($20-$30 for the ride from the train). A car is highly recommended (especially if you want to explore the area), but this definitely makes things possible for the car-free—just be sure to show up with everything you need for the stay as the farm is in a rural area that is not particularly walkable. Q: Do I need to bring towels or linens? What about a hairdryer? A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with basic toiletries (unless I happen to be out, which is very rare). Q: Is this house really off the grid? A: Yep! It features solar panels for power, a propane HVAC system for heating and air-conditioning, and a unique dry-flush toilet (more on that in the "Other Things To Note" section below). One exception: You absolutely have working Wi-Fi. Q: How will I receive the key? A: The house features a keyless entry system with a code that lasts as long as your stay. This allows for effortless check-in and entry. Q: Is the place professionally cleaned between guests? A: Yes, and I take pride in providing a clean home for guests. Take a look at my reviews—I think you'll find my guests agree! Q: What's up with the cleaning fee? A: I get a lot of questions about this, so I'll just break it down so you understand why it is what it is: All but $10 of that goes directly to my cleaner. She is a professional who does a great job and who I insist on compensating fairly for her work. The dry-flush toilet cartridges cost me about $20 apiece, so the remaining $10 lets me split that cost with guests. (Of course, if you happen to use more than one cartridge, I cover that cost alone). Q: What's my total booking price? A: I honestly have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows the guest, and not the host, the total cost. This figure should be present after you enter your dates. Note that, pricing varies on a daily basis, and Airbnb actually uses some crazy algorithm to adjust it automatically, so I don't actually control this. Q: I am looking for a last-minute stay. Can I make a same-day booking? A: If you're looking for a same-day booking and the place is free, please inquire and I'll try! It depends on whether my cleaning crew can spring into action at the last-minute, which isn't a sure thing. Check-in may also have to be later than the listed time in order to make sure the place is ready. Still, can't hurt to ask. One last thing: I really, really appreciate that you followed directions and read the whole thing. Please put the phrase "Don't throw rocks at glass houses!!" at the top of your message so I know you did so as such bookings tend to go so much smoother! And thanks for hanging in there!
The Glass House is situated on a 30-acre farm in the rolling hills of the Hudson Valley. Guests have total privacy, but are joined on the farm by the main farm house and a smaller residence with live-in caretakers that can help out in case of an emergency. Around the farm are views of rolling vineyards and apple orchards—many of which are absolutely worth a visit. Downtown Marlboro is minutes away and has a few nightlife and dining options, and the hopping town of Beacon (home of the Dia; Beacon) is about 25 minutes away. Storm King Art Center (a must) is also about 30 minutes away. Also near: New Paltz, Cold Spring Poughkeepsie, and countless other Hudson Valley gems.
  • This Tiny House is so lovely. Clean and Cozy. Expertly stocked with every little thing you might need. But no clutter. So well designed. The large windows just make it feel so open and huge. The bed is great and really comfortable. Plenty of storage to put your stuff away. The bathroom was small and yet large enough. We were a little worried about the electric toilet, but in the end (no pun intended) it really wasn't a big deal at all. It's perfectly sanitary and easy. My wife and I had such a great relaxing time. We look forward to returning.

  • Seth is an amazing host. I rented the tiny glass house to getaway from the city for 2 nights and it was well worth the money. The view, hospitality from the folks that own the chicken coop, to the awesome laveo toilet, we had a great stay! I'll have to eventually come back. Thanks Seth!

  • We had an incredible stay at the Glass Trailer. It was the perfect getaway from the city - located on a quiet farm, but close enough to hikes and wineries. And don't forget about the farm fresh eggs! The space was clean and had everything we needed. Seth was a great host - he was very friendly and communicative. We were able to get a hold of him immediately if we needed to. Can't wait for our next stay!

    Samantha2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Was a really nice break for people in the city. The van has a out door sitting area for two people, nice large area to walk around in nature and grass.

  • The Glass House is truly a magical experience. It had everytning we needed to cook a nice meal and the location was amazing for our overnight stay before a climbing trip in New Paltz. The huge glass windows offered an amazing starry sky to fall asleep under and we loved waking up with the sun to all the birds! Seth was super accommodating with our last minute booking and was incredibly helpful and responsive throughout! We’ll definitely be back.

    Dominique2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing stay in the tiny little glass house in the Hudson Valley. Very romantic little space yet felt spacious. The views in the morning waking up on farm was breathtaking. It was a truly special New Year’s weekend. The location is just under 2 hours from New York City and within driving distance to so many attraction in Hudson Valley, Catskills, Woodstock...etc. The space has full kitchen appliances that you can use to cook/prepare food, cabinets, shower, and toilet. Everything was proper. Seth was probably the fastest person who responded to any messages ever! All of our inquiries were addressed almost momentarily and he was extremely attentive. NOTE: If you come during winter time there’s a limit on the amount of water you can use. Otherwise it is unlimited, as I understood, in the spring and summer times. We were able to manage with 50 gallons. This place can’t be recommended enough for romantic get aways. Anyone who wants to impress their significant others this is the place to go!

    Michael2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Seth gives very clear directions for this unique space and is very helpful and available for anything you need. He also gave great information on local museums and places to eat. I had a great stay and I'm so glad Seth made a tiny house is available to check out in such a beautiful and peaceful setting. Have a tiny adventure!

    Deborah2018-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Seth’s tiny house is a perfect getaway. The glass windows and view are amazing. This was a great first tiny house experience for my wife and me!

We are conveniently located within a 10 minute WALK from the Poughkeepsie Train Station and the historic Walkway over the Hudson! Our three family home is nestled in the Little Italy district of the City of Poughkeepsie - Appropriately there is no shortage of Italian bakeries or Italian restaurants in our neighborhood! Four restaurants (Amici's, Milanese, Cosimo's and Emiliano's) and two bakeries (La Deliziosa and Cafe Aurora) to be exact, all within WALKING distance! Good food is definitely not hard to come by in our neck of the woods. WALK on down to the Poughkeepsie waterfront... Dine inside or al fresco overlooking the beautiful Hudson River at the River Station Restaurant. Make sure you try one of the five delicious soups, homemade daily or pop into the historic Ice House on the Hudson for some of their yummy eats! Maybe you're just in the mood to cozy up next to a fire and enjoy a delicious glass of wine? Well then WALK down the street and around the corner to the Nic'L Inn. The ambience and artfully crafted menu never disappoints but be careful because their complimentary fried spaghetti can be addictive. Obviously we enjoy introducing people to our favorite neighborhood spots but lets not take away the fact that your journey to Poughkeepsie is just the gateway to the Hudson Valley. Located within 20 +/- minutes to the Village of New Paltz, Rhinebeck, Beacon, Breakneck Ridge (Hiking), Millbrook and multiple Breweries, Wineries, Distilleries, Orchards and attractions in Historic Hyde Park. No matter the season, no matter the reason, our home is a great place to begin your journey.!
  • The place was just right for my overnight stop, walkable from the train station and I find a nice Italian restuarant a short walk away too. Slept comfortably and found everything I needed.

    Cory2017-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay!! Clean, convenient, a great place to rest your bones. Near everything.

    Allie2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome! It's perfectly decorated and feels like a home away from home. The entrance/check-in is super easy plus it's just a short walk from the train station. It was also a quick walk to the Walkway Over the Hudson too. Robert and Regina have thought of all the small touches to make a stay extra comfortable--including extra towels and coffee. It was perfectly heated for the winter too. We really enjoyed our stay! I would highly recommend for anyone traveling to Poughkeepsie.

    Sarah2018-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Easy access to train to NYC. The furnishings and decor are lovely. We appreciated the cold beverages left for us in the fridge too!

    Elizabeth2017-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place, everything was modern and clean. Smelled fresh, provided amenities. There were a lot of places open late nearby since it is near a college campus. Bring your own toothpaste!

    Sarah2018-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • This place is lovely! A perfect little spot for launching into the Hudson Valley or if visiting one of the local universities. We stayed here while visiting the Culinary Institute from New Zealand. Rob was great when we forgot our bag and he mailed it to us!! Great hosts.

    Hannah2018-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Second time staying here! Super clean and the hosts are always helpful :)

    Jackie2017-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Robert and Regina were such lovely hosts - even though I made a last minute booking, there was a welcome basket of snacks, fresh apples, coffee and cocoa for the morning. The place was really spacious, and looked just as good as in the photos. There is even a proper kitchen and dining table, but they quickly responded to an email with some great suggestions of where to eat out, including a fantastic diner in town for breakfast. I couldn't have asked for more gracious and helpful hosts!

  • Lovely, lovely stay at Casa del Arte - only wish it was longer! Elisa is a very welcoming and gracious host, and their home is unique, architecturally fascinating, beautifully decorated spaces, and in a great location. Quiet and serene environment. So fun to be staying in the tower. Hope we'll be back!

  • Troy was literally the greatest AirBnB host I can possibly imagine. Stay with him - just do it.

    Benjamin2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • I’m still on awe of the fantastic time we had this weekend! Troy is a fantastic host with an out of this world mid century modern house and the sweetest dogs! Our private room was beautiful and super comfortable. After a great nights sleep we enjoyed getting to know Troy and his guests over the most delicious Nordic breakfast! I can’t wait to go back again soon and would recommend a visit to all of my friends!

    Katie2018-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this place for my parents. They greatly enjoyed their stay, chatting with Troy in his beautiful living room, and visiting historic sites in the area.

    Wendy2016-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Troy was a perfect gentleman and extremely accommodating host providing us with all the essentials, maps, and Voss waters for our hike. The house is clean and Scandanavian floor-ceiling. His 3-course Scandanavian breakfast was a delicious and educational experience. We found a great hiking spot about an hour away on the other side of the bridge, but there were some good short hikes in that immediate area. Wish we got to spend more time with Richard!

    Christopher2016-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place and an amazing host with an exceptional norwegian breakfast. Should I say more?

    Balazs2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing! Simply amazing! This was our second time staying with Troy. The morning breakfast is really better than any restaurant. The space is so great and Troy is both fun and interesting to talk with. We can't wait to stay again in the Spring!

    Yoni2018-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • There’s no place like Troy’s! My boyfriend and I had so much fun staying with Troy for the second time - having dinner and breakfasts together, counting down to 2018, making friends with other guests that have been here many times over the years. Exceptional hospitality worth making a special journey to, like a 3 Michelin star restaurant! ;)

    Catherine2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Troy was such an amazing host. His home is gorgeous with beautiful modern furniture and conveniently located near the historic sites and also the Culinary Institute. Troy is very active in the community and gave us a tour of the Vanderbilt gardens where he volunteers. He even got us in on a tour of the mansion. Troy had plenty of recommendations of things to do and places to eat in the area. The famous Scandinavian breakfast was as good as the other reviews say. Troy is a very welcoming individual with interesting stories. We had such an amazing weekend at his house!

POUGHKEEPSIE: Home to 4 colleges (Vassar, Marist, Dutchess Community & The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park), Poughkeepsie is both a college town and a city in transition with a diverse blue collar urban community. With close proximity to restaurants and cultural destinations, Poughkeepsie allows you to experience the conveniences of “small city” life while only being a 10 minute drive from the country. A historic industrial port city, Poughkeepsie is currently going through an exciting resurgence, characterized by a grassroots local food movement, farm-to-table restaurants, and a number of revitalization projects, including the renowned Walkway Over the Hudson, the world’s longest pedestrian bridge spanning the width of Hudson River. The Walkway connects the Dutchess County and Ulster County rail trails, making Poughkeepsie a destination for bike enthusiasts. Vassar College and the city’s south side also make for wonderful bike routes with cute residential streets, historic homes, and lots of trees. We love Poughkeepsie for its diversity – its people, its culture – and the way it encompasses the full socio-economic spectrum, from its pristine college campuses to the developing commercial zone and restaurant scene in the historic main street corridor. Poughkeepsie is an exciting place with a unique energy, and an ideal home base for experiencing the rest of the Historic Hudson Valley. THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Gray Street, where the guest house is located, is a residential, tree-lined street in a transitioning neighborhood 5 minutes from Vassar College. The neighborhood is a blend of everything from young entrepreneurs, academics, government workers, tradespeople and low income families. The guest house sits across from Forbus Butternut Park, a 1-acre greenspace overseen by a local non-profit. There is a church on the other side of the park, and the Poughkeepsie High School and football field is about 2 blocks away. During the day, kids sometimes play in the street, but for the most part it's very quiet since Gray Street isn’t a major thoroughfare. AROUND THE REGION: Because Poughkeepsie is centrally located, it makes for a great jumping off point to explore the rest of the Hudson Valley region. Towns like Beacon, New Paltz, Rosendale, Millbrook, Hyde Park and Rhinebeck are all within an easy drive with lots of things to see along the way. Hudson, The Catskills, Cold Spring, Phoenicia and the Berkshires all make for wonderful day trips – full of meandering country drives, antiquing, hiking, fishing, wine-tasting, museum-hopping, or cooling off in a swimming hole. I run a blog that’s dedicated to travel, food and culture in the region called An Upstate of Mind, and I’m happy to send along recommendations for our favorite spots tailored around whatever you like to do. The surrounding Upstate NY towns are lovely, but to make for a full day, it’s sometimes good to combine a few destinations into a “mini road trip” that lets you soak in the local flavor and experience the sprawling natural settings the Hudson Valley is known for.
  • I used Seth's apartment to house family when they came to visit me in the Hudson Valley. We were looking for a space that my 87- year old grandmother could retire to when the trip became overwhelming. My family was stunned upon arriving. The unit was clean, spacious and impeccably decorated. The kitchen was well appointed for my grandmother's early morning rise for coffee and meditation, and the small library peeked my mother's interest. Both proved difficult to tempt away, but were well rested for exploration up and down the valley. This apartment was one of the nicest and best run I have ever seen. My family thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and loved their stay.

    Peter2015-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for Marist graduation weekend and had a great time. The place was immaculate and perfect for our trip. The house is located close to downtown Poughkeepsie and close to Marist and Vassar as well as the CIA.

    Adrian2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Was headed to a conference at Vassar and chose Seth's place over a dorm or hotel. Pleased with my choice. Place was comfortable from the start ... great light, nicely decorated and wonderful artwork. Felt like one of those places you could just settle into. Vassar was 5 min away. Downtown dining options were less than 5 min and I was really pleased with meals I had at Shatzi's and Gennie's Soul Food ... both place Seth suggested.

    Michael2017-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Central to downtown and close to area attractions. Check in was easy and apartment clean and comfortable.

    Megan2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Seth's guest house in Poughkeepsie was a great home base for both exploring the Hudson Valley and for our Saturday morning class at the CIA. His recommendations for restaurants, including the Mill Street Brewing Company in downtown, and towns to visit in the area made for an easy weekend without having to do a lot of research and preparation ourselves. The house itself, while a work in progress, is an inspiration for what these older houses can become.

    Carrie2014-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Seth certainly deserves the very high rating given to him by other guests. He did everything in his power to make us welcome. The place is beautiful, and Seth's attention to detail in providing everything we needed was brilliant.

    Jenny2016-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in Poughkeepsie for my brother's graduation. We rented a house that had been built into two apartments from Seth and it was perfect for our group- easy to find and decorated very nicely. We were a 5-10 minute car ride from everything so the location was convenient.

    Janine2014-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Seth made us feel very welcome and everything was easy and comfortable. He definitely goes the extra mile. The place is beautiful and everything as described.

A Scandinavian Contemporary home with a great host!
Wonderful neighborhood up from the Hudson River. Quiet with a sound of the train whistle.
  • We had such a wonderful stay at Troy's beautiful home in the woods! It is impeccably clean and he is very true to his Scandinavian style. The beds were comfortable with down covers. My room had a small TV in it which was a nice touch. It is in a really central location, near the Vanderbilt Mansion and FDR library. Troy made us the best breakfast in the morning, including all the Norwegian/Swedish fixings. Overall he made us feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend. He owns two dogs that are very well behaved.

  • Wow! Troy was an amazing host. Our stay here was truly magical. We've done several AirBnBs and we couldn't recommend more highly. Absolutely fantastic.

    Sharyn2015-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Troy's home is literally the most serene home I have ever been in on Airbnb to date! The vibe says nothing but relaxed. I can't wait to go back in the winter!

    Eli2016-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Magnificent! The best part of Troy's home is Troy. From the brief visit my boyfriend and I had with Troy, it was clear that Troy possesses a deep passion for his home, community, and hosting others, integrity, and a generosity of spirit. The immaculate and tasteful condition of Troy's home, and its beautiful setting and views make his place an oasis. While at Troy's Scandinavian inspired home, we enjoyed two impeccable meals with the enjoyable company of Troy, and other Air BNB guests and friends. I look forward to returning and would highly recommend this Air BNB opportunity. Troy is a Super Host, if ever I met one! Thank you, Troy.

  • This was our second stay and Troy was ever they lovely host. We met some really great people and - special bonus - barbecue with everyone on a Saturday! The breakfast feast was just as gorgeous and delicious as we remembered. Super close to Hyde Park, Val-Kil and next door to the Vanderbilt mansion if you want to go on a nice walk or two. Highly recommended!

  • Nice stay. Was sorry to miss breakfast!

  • Staying with Troy was fantastic. His house was super comfortable and full of cool stuff to look at. He went out of his way to make sure we had a great weekend -- including an incredible 3 course Scandinavian breakfast, complete with homemade gravlax. I really can't recommend staying with Troy enough, and I'm already trying to figure out an excuse to visit Hyde Park again!

  • Troy is a very accommodating host. Room was excellent and very clean. Food was delightful and plentiful. Very good value.

It's very quiet and family friendly. The neighbors promote safety while observing privacy.
  • Van foi um anfitrião gentil, colocando-se à disposição para o que fosse necessário. Sua casa está de acordo com o que é oferecido no anúncio.

  • This was my first time using airbnb and Van made the experience easy and enjoyable. The house was very clean and the room was adorable. The area was pretty quiet and the of street parking was also pretty nice. Van made everything super simple and always responded in a timely manner. I definitely recommend staying in one of Van's rooms!

  • Van was very welcoming when I meet him on my second night. The area is a nice 15-minute walk from Poughkeepsie Station.

    Stefan2016-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Overall a nice and convenient stay. He left us a bottle of wine which was more than generous and the place was clean and the same as the pictures. We were in Poughkeepsie for an event at Chance Theatre and this was a short walk from the venue. Such a convenient spot! I never met Van but he was quick to reply with any questions I had. He messaged me detailed instructions on how to get in upon arrival. Although, I was a little frustrated because I came from out of country and when I realized he wasn't home I had to turn my phone on to contact. This is when I saw the detailed instructions, however, I will now have to pay the data roaming charges. I was also unaware that this home was strictly for air bnb rentals and there were other tenants staying in neighboring rooms. I had no problems with this, everyone was friendly, it was just a total shock to have a random person walk into the apartment. The mattress was not comfortable at all and we had problems with getting the tv working but all in all served its purpose as a place to crash for some tired festival goers.

    Diana2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • While I did not see Van during my stay, he was very quick to respond to questions I had and getting into the room was very easy. The space was exactly as pictured. The common areas are shared spaces, but I did not see other guests during my stay.

  • Van was very communicative and helpful, check-in and check-out were both very smooth. Conveniently located within walking distance of downtown and the train station. The various amenities were also a nice touch.

  • This was my 3rd stay with Van and it was another great experience. I have booked here multiple times and will again because it is a great value and very comfortable. Communicating with Van is always easy as well.

    Terence2016-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Easily accessible, clean, and very comfortable. If you're lucky, like myself, thru Van's generosity, you'll likely find a bottle of wine waiting for you on your nite table.

You’ll love our place because this will truly feel like your home away from home. You'll find a fully furnished, art deco/mid-century modern one bedroom apartment, fully equipped for all of your needs. We welcome everyone!

  • The place is very nicely decorated and functional. Cute furnishings and comfy bed. The good: - Parking right next to the house - Plenty of space for 2 guests - Pincode for getting in - no keys The bad: - I had a difficult time getting in touch with the hosts. I messaged them multiple times but there was apparently an issue with the AirBnB app, so I never received any messages from them. Because of this, I texted them and asked them to email me directions for checking-in the day before. But I never received an email or text response. When we arrived on the day of the reservation, I called them, and luckily was able to get the pincode to enter the building. We almost cancelled the reservation because we didn't get any responses until the last minute. The gross: - The morning of our check-out, we found blood on the sheets. I wish we had seen it before we had gone to bed the day before, but we had just returned from a wedding and crashed. We were so shocked that we thought maybe one of us had a cut somewhere and bled on the bed... but nope, it was there before. I guess the sheets were not changed/washed.

  • It was an unusually hot weekend and Robert went out to get window air conditioners. Very nice! Also the shower has incredible pressure. Loved it. They were nice enough to have organic half and half and stevia for the coffee. This place is highly recommended

  • Robert and Regina's place was exactly as described. We really enjoyed our stay. The place was very clean and it was in a very convenient location from both the train station and the Walkway over the Hudson. I would absolutely stay here again if I was ever in the area.

    Meredith2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Robert's. The place is just amazing! Totally comfortable and truly nice. It is so well organized, equipped with everything we could possibly need, decorated with such love and care. It's not often when the place is even better that shown in pictures :) Robert was always available, it was nice meeting him. So what can I say I only wish I could stay a little longer. Many thanks!

The upstairs room is private and off set. The room has a separate entrance with a 42 inch screen tv, DVD player, and sitting area. There is also a bottle of wine and snacks waiting for you.

  • The space was accurately described in the posting and in immaculate condition. We had everything we needed in the room for our stay and felt very comfortable. The wine was such a nice touch! Van was responsive and apologetic when remedying a check-in issue that came about due to another guest in the home taking the keys that were meant for us, leaving us a bit confused initially. That being said, check in directions were very clear, so I don't think that this was Van's fault. My 4 star rating would've undoubtedly been a 5 if it weren't for the loud guests staying in another room during our stay, who woke us up at 4 am. Again, this wasn't a reflection on the host, but it's important to note that this is a risk that may be taken not knowing who you'll be sharing space with. All things considered, we'd definitely return for another stay.

    Chenique2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Van makes you feel right at home away from home. A generous and considerate host, Van's accommodations were clean, comfortable, and organized. The area is quiet and quaint. His place is about a 7 minute walk into town where you can find food and some entertainment. It is also just under a 15 minute walk from the train station. I would highly suggest driving or renting a car as cab service is not always reliable in this small town and, as of this posting, neither Uber or Lyft is operating in this area. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. Van was very easy to reach and communicate with. The wine and snack basket was also a nice touch!

  • I was needing to stay in Poughkeepsie for one night during my travels and I'm very thankful I stayed at Van's place. Easy to find and get in, free parking available, cozy room. He replied back to my messages quickly and promptly when I had questions. Overall great stay!

    Joanna2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • When I arrived there was an overwhelming smell of those plug-ins of artificial pine. Seven were plugged in downstairs and five are plugged in upstairs, along with an automatic spraying every five minutes in the foyer. I talk to van immediately and asked him if I can unplugged them. He did say yes. But is soon as I am plug them they were plugged back in and I can no longer get down in the downstairs because he had tenants. So I explained to him I’m highly allergic. So he said there was a stove and oven for me to cook on which me and my team brought food for . there was no oven or stove to be used at all which I believe is false advertising he also said there was a blowup mattress for my third person and there was one with holes in it. I had to go out at 9 o’clock at night to buy another one. when I asked him to reimburse me he said he only paid $30 but late at night I could only find one for $52 for the same size. Just to finish off I was vomiting and very sick for two days poisoned by the smells I come from a family that’s highly allergic to perfumes and fragrances. I’ve learned a lot from this always ask the host first about this stuff. But since I told him how allergic & sensitive . I believe he didn’t care to followthrough. By the way they were covering up the smell of people smoking and also illegal substances

    Hadara2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • I didn't get to meet Van this trip but he was quite responsive via e-mail. The place was pretty much what you would expect for the price you're paying for the night.

  • The bed was very comfortable. The sheets were a high thread count and the two pillows were nice options. I especially appreciated the special touches of a first aid kit and water and a breakfast bar. Brooke and Ryan were very welcoming and considerate. This location is 25 min walk to Vassar through family neighborhood. I hope to visit again in the future. I would not hesitate to recommend unless you hate dogs- They have a friendly dog-which in my case made me feel more at home.

  • Brooke and Ryan have a lively house in a beautiful calm area. The cleanliness was top. Bathroom, bedroom made us feel like home. When it comes to practicalities, everything went very smoothly too, from check-in to check-out. Moreover, we were offered a lift when we couldn't get a taxi late in the evening. That's when you realize you are staying at nice people's place!! Thank you so much.

  • Seth was a fantastic host! This place was about what I expected because I had high expectations and he completely delivered. Anyone spending time in Poughkeepsie, say visiting college students--or in the Hudson Valley area in general, this is a great place to land.

    Susan2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our time at Seth's guest house! It was very clean and comfortable and the perfect home base while we explored Upstate New York. Seth was an amazing host! He was very prompt with responses and recommended a wonderful variety of local restaurants and nearby towns and shops to explore--this really enhanced our trip. Thanks, Seth!

  • The Poet Guest House Apartment was the perfect place to stay while we were in exploring the Hudson Valley area for a long weekend. Seth's description was accurate and the apartment was cheerful, clean, and comfortable. Seth provided great suggestions for local restaurants and areas of interest to consider as part of our itinerary. The Apple TV took us a little bit of getting used to, but once we did -- it was fine. Be sure to carefully read the parking restrictions on the street -- luckily we parked on the correct side of the street the first night we arrived (didn't see the parking signage until the next morning). The apartment isn't really walking distance to anything -- so you will need a car. The sun porch is not heated, so don't plan on sipping coffee there unless it is a warm morning. We enjoyed our visit and recommend this apartment.

    Laurie2014-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Seth was very welcoming and made sure to provide us with a great and extensive list of places and restaurants to explore in the area. The house is incredibly well decorated, clean and the craftsman details are most enjoyable. We didn't have a car (took the train up from NYC) and would highly recommend that guests have one as Poughkeepsie is not so walking friendly and Taxi service is lacking (Uber doesn't exist up there). Seth also provided taxi numbers which helped with our stay. We highly recommend this little Poughkeepsie gem!

    Catherine2016-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Seth is a good host with a nice place. Best to have a car to drive around

    Jon2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is exactly as pictured, very cozy and welcoming. But you do want to bring a car, taxis are unreliable. We enjoyed the hike but less so in 1 degree weather. Car also makes it easier to get to a lot of the really great places Seth recommends.

    Prapti2016-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our stay at the Poet apartment met and exceeded expectations. It provided a comfy, artsy, convenient home base as we explored the Hudson River Valley. Seth was an outstanding host; his instructions were detailed and complete. He even suggested a lovely one day road trip up into picturesque Dutchess County and let us know what his favorite dining spots were in Poughkeepsie and the surrounding areas.

  • Pina and her husband were amazing hosts! Their home is beautiful and clean, and it's a 7 minute walk from the Poughkeepsie train station -- super convenient for folks who are coming in from out of town. Pina was so warm and kind, and she went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. I definitely recommend staying here!

    Amber2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Pina and Daniele were authentic and wonderful hosts who were very attentive to our needs. The location of their lovely abode is quite Central in the city of Poughkeepsie very close to the train station and Mid-Hudson bridge and Hudson River Walkway . The building is right before a wee patch of grass that we could play some badminton on. It was a great location for us since we wanted to be both Central but also close in driving distance to the hiking areas of the Hudson valley such as Beacon and New Paltz. They were so kind as to make us breakfast both mornings and share their time with us. I highly recommend their AirBnb and encourage others who stay to get to know the wonderful hosts!

    Lauren2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Pina & Daniele are both very nice and easy to communicate. We stayed for one night on the first floor right next to the living room, where there is a grand piano. The house is centrally located with easy access to places in Poughkeepsie. Thanks to Daniele's recommendation, we had a great time in Falcon, a music venue about 15 minutes drive from the house (Highly recommend it if you like jazz & blues!)

    Meng2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Pina and Daniel's home is just lovely. Because I was staying for an event, I really did not get enough time to enjoy the space but it was certainly serviceable in all the ways the listing suggested. What you can't tell from the listing is just how warm and welcoming this couple is. I felt a really wonderful energy from Pina when I spoke with her on the phone and my instincts were only further confirmed when we met. So much so that I have actually planned to make another trip to Poughkeepsie this summer with every intention of staying again. I look forward to getting to know them better! Practical notes: Because it is a room in a home, privacy is somewhat limited. (Again, Pina and Daniel are wonderful people so that wasn't a problem for me but if you prefer limited interaction, while I suspect they would absolutely respect your wishes, this might not be the ideal arrangement.) There is no en suite bathroom; the bathroom is off the kitchen so I would advise bringing a bathrobe as the bathroom is tight quarters and not ideal for getting dressed. Pina apologized for the limited closet space but as a Brooklynite accustomed to tight quarters and as I was only spending two nights, it was far more than I needed. There is a large desk in the bedroom if you need to do work; there is also a quaint front porch and a lovely backyard - I didn't have a chance to take advantage of those amenities but you should! I did not need toiletries, but Pina did offer them along with daily fresh towels. I was always on the run and could not take them up on it, but I was also offered a cocktail or soft drink upon my arrival and coffee in the mornings. In all, I enjoyed my stay and definitely recommend this hostess and host!

  • Pina and Daniel were lovely hosts. Pina was great with correspondence. They had great suggestions about restaurants other places to see. They were very welcoming and their home is lovely.

  • Pina and Daniele are incredibly kind, generous, and friendly. They were great about letting me do whatever I needed to do, which was important since it was a work week for me. But they were also eager to offer information and ideas about the area, restaurants, etc, and once I finally had a bit of free time, Daniele cooked me a really nice breakfast. I am a musician, and I needed space to practice all week, and they were awesome about accommodating that need. At first I was afraid of intruding, but they continually made it clear that I was welcome to use the whole house. The space is really beautiful, clean, and well-decorated. I found parking to be a challenge, so just be aware of that when making your plans. The location was beautiful in many ways since it's very close to the river and Little Italy. But in other ways it's challenging because there are some kind of rough neighborhoods in between that neighborhood and the areas (like Vassar) where there are more shops and restaurants. There are things I liked about the location, but it's just good to spend some time with the map and know what you're looking for. Thanks to Pina and Daniele for being so welcoming!

  • Had a great comfortable time staying at pina and daniel’s place. They were very hospitable and made sure the place was as though it was my place as well. Breakfast was great and the chats about food, art, travels and New York were too. Hope to be back in Poughkeepsie someday soon.

  • Pina and Daniel were an unexpected and absolutely welcomed surprise to our lives. We had intended on only staying one day but because of their loveliness we stayed an extra night! We enjoyed two breakfasts, one dinner and a long evening conversation before we headed back to NYC. We have kept in touch and genuinely look forward to the friendship over the years to come. I recommend this place for everyone. If you get the opportunity to spend time with Pina and Daniel you will not be disappointed.

Share with us, yet private City Home with Country feel. Near colleges and train. You have bedroom n half bath upstairs. Shared living room, kitchen, downstairs shower down stairs, washer dryer, outside patio and yard. There is a mini frig in your room . We have 1 adult blk lab that does bark. 1 black lab 14 month old pup who is learning not to jump up in happiness to see you. They are gated off from your room. But sometimes the pup does do exactly what he wants to do. He is still in training.
You get a very large upstairs room, and may come and go as you please. BUT Please be in by 11 pm. As this is a shared space. If you check in very late and come back very late it does present a small problem. 2 can sleep in the cozy double memory foam bed. We supply breakfast.. coffee, toast, eggs, etc. Late night snacks also. Or if you are hungry pasta is a easy fix. We prefer if you eat here you eat at the kitchen table or if you like at the out door patio set. Not required for snacks.
Generally it is a quiet area, weekends tend to be more lively.
  • Nancy was an amazing and very hospitable host. She went above and beyond by making us feel at home with home cooked meals, snacks, and transportation. Thank you Nancy!

  • Kim is a great host, and our experience matches all of the positive comments that have already been noted. She's very helpful with advice about Poughkeepsie and the area, and cares a great deal about your comfort. Snacks and waters in the rooms, a light breakfast with coffee in the morning, and plenty of room. We had a wonderful, but too brief, stay.

    Mark2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Kim's place. It's a beautiful home and we had plenty of space. Kim is a great host, hospitable and kind, and she gave us great recommendations for our time in the Hudson Valley.

  • Wonderful space! Kim is a great host and her place is in a great location.

    Nicole2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing woodwork throughout the inside of this quant house. 6 min walk to Bardavon and all the restaurants. Kim was a great host. Coffee and treats outside the bedroom door in the morning :) I highly recommend if visiting Poughkeepsie.

  • Kim was a great hostess. Her place was cozy and comfy. I would definitely recommend her place to friends and family.

    Sonia2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Kim was very friendly, helpful, and accomodating. The 4 cats were all very sweet. We could pet them anytime we saw them. They didn't seem moody like some cats can be. Easy drive to visit Vassar College, and nice place for a stroll on the historic neighborhood.

    Clark2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our host was perfect. She made us feel welcome in her home, and provided us with coffee delivered to just outside of our room each morning of our stay. We had uninterrupted access to the house and to the room, and we had our own bathroom available to us, which was what we were looking for. We also fell in love with all four cats, especially Miracle and Houdini, who were very curious and interested in the new people in the house. It was a great idea to leave kitty treats in our room so we could help spoil all of the members of the extended household. Kim was very current on activities in the area and was a big help in helping us plan our one day off that we had. All in all, it was a very nice stay for people that love pets as we do.

    Ronald2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • A great mountain town retreat! Kim is a very gracious host. Communication prior to and throughout my stay was very easy. She has restored the house beautifully. It is conveniently within walking distance to the main street and theater. And her cats are very friendly!

  • Very nice and welcoming home.

    Michael2016-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Poughkeepsie was beyond expectations and it was thanks to Corinna & Jessica's lovely abode. The room was clean and stocked with surprise extras: snacks, toiletries, keurig machine, bottles of water. Not only this but a snazzy guide of local eats, which we took advantage of and were not disappointed! This is definitely a location I would return to and encourage anyone looking for a stay in the area to reach out to these fabulous ladies.

  • Everything was just as described. Very quiet and comfortable. Very sweet pets, made me feel right at home.

    Thomas2015-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was wonderful, we got a ride to dinner, and we fell in love with the amazing animals at this house. There were also adorable little soaps and shampoos and a Keurig coffee maker in the room. I would without hesitation recommend staying here.

  • We had a fabulous stay with Corinna and Jessica. They were great with making us feel welcomed and wanted. We loved their home and neighborhood. They went out of their way to allow us to use not only the room provided, but the rest of the home as well. They had beautiful animals that were so friendly and loving (I would have brought them home with me...if they wouldn't have noticed). They were so great with providing many little extras that helped our stay even more wonderful. We will absolutely stay there again the next time we visit NY. Thank you Jessica and Corinna for your great hospitality!!

  • Perfect setting if you are visiting your student at Vassar. This home is just minutes away. You'll have a very good night's sleep. The pictures capture this home perfectly, and the hosts have all your needs in mind.

  • I couldn’t be happier with my first Airbnb experience. I came to Poughkeepsie to visit my son, who attends Marist, and wasn’t sure when I would be arriving but Corrina and Jessica were very flexible and couldn’t have been nicer about my uncertain arrival. The room was clean and quiet, the neighborhood is very nice and having a Keurig in the room was a dream come true. I was treated to a visit from one of Corinna and Jessica’s cats during my stay and their dogs are adorable. I would definitely stay again.

Lovely entire 3rd floor in a historic Queen Ann 1894 Victorian home with private entrance and porch. Close to the Walkway Over the Hudson, to the Dutchess/Ulster Bike Rail-Trail system, the FDR home and library, Vanderbilt estate, and many other national historic sites and outdoor adventures. Guests are welcome to enjoy the beautifully landscaped back yard.
The apartment has just been renovated, is newly furnished, and features tree top views. There is a full kitchen with utensils, cookware and dishes, Keurig with coffee and tea provided. Two bedrooms, one with a new queen bed and the other with two new twin beds, both with ample closets. The bath has a classic Victorian claw foot tub/shower , the half bath is located in the ground floor apartment foyer. There is heat and central A/C.
Academy St Historic District is one of 3 National Historic Districts in the City of Poughkeepsie. Most houses are grand Victorian era homes with large lots on tree lined streets. It is wonderful to stroll the area and view some amazing architectural gems. There is easy access to the Metro North Railroad and Amtrak train station, and NYS Thruway. Poughkeepsie is home to Vassar and Marist Colleges and the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), allowing for some great world class restaurants. We are within walking distance of Rite- Aide and a local deli. We are also in very close proximity to Vassar Brothers Hospital and an Urgent Care facility in the event you should require it. There are two shopping centers within a 5 minute drive of the house and we are located approximately a 1/2mile or a 4 minute drive from downtown Poughkeepsie.
  • Mark and Tim's private suite on the third floor of their lovely Victorian home in Poughkeepsie's historic district, is one of the nicest places you could ever choose to stay! My husband and I were delighted by the size and comfort of the light-filled space, and my husband's first comment was "this whole space is ours??" The two-bedroom apartment with sitting area, bath, full kitchen and a long hallway, feels spacious and airy. It could easily fit a small family or two couples. The decor is an impeccable mix of vintage and modern, with an amazing art collection. I wish I could buy the vintage kitchen set and the antique daybed! :) For an antique house, the systems are totally upgraded. It was hot and humid out, and we were on the 3rd floor, but the central AC worked perfectly, as did the water temp and pressure. The linens are all new, the bed was super comfy, as was the carpeting. This is just an amazing place, with 5-star hotel amenities, and bed & breakfast charm. There was a Keurig with a wide assortment of coffee and drinks, and half-and-half. Really, what more could you ever need? Oh, and I have to say I am a clean freak, and it was absolutely spotless. Don't hesitate to book a stay with Mark and Tim whenever you are in the area!

    Marilyn2018-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Tim's place is great. It had everything we needed for our short stay, and both I and my travel partner wish we could have stayed for another week due to how comfortable and lovely the space and the hosts were. The art and decor is great, very modern, very comfortable and with really lovely homey touches like a day bed tucked in a nook in the living room area. A+++

    Dan2018-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Mark was fantastic. Great communicator who had great insight into the local area and had great suggestions for us. At the end of the day you don't get a better operator than Mark! They went way above and beyond for our comfort and were really concerned that we had a great time.

    Shannon2018-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely charming apartment in this amazing Victorian home. We were able to park both of our cars off street in a very safe backyard. The apartment was sparking clean, charming and perfect for the 5 ladies staying. One and a half baths were perfect, kitchen with a Kerig (and a wonderful selection of coffes and tea), and spa quality towels. We were invited to use the backyard table and firepit to end our evening. Great location, great hosts (that provided immediate responses even when I went to the wrong house first!) We look forward to returning to Mark & Tim's place again and again.

    Joan2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Mark was lovely, as was the space! I highly recommend staying here. The kitchen is big, I wish we had more time to take advantage of it. The rooms are very well appointed, with fun art and quality furniture, etc. Mark was easy to communicate with, and helpful. It was easy to come and go, park, etc. The neighborhood is gorgeous! I would certainly come again.

    Emily2018-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and cozy space. Mark was extremely helpful throughout the Check-In process and made it super easy for our group.

    John2018-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mark’s place was beautiful and very well decorated!! A group of friends came for a wedding and the apartment was perfect. Very convenient and felt private but it was also great to chat briefly with Mark who was super friendly. Mark was also very helpful and accommodating when we got in touch about a slight change in plans before our trip, and also after when we forgot an item at the apartment! Would highly recommend.

This spacious suite is peaceful, & wooded with separate entrance, patio, wifi, full kitchen, bathroom (small shower), queen bed, sleeper sofia, TV (uses fire stick, wifi & blu-ray, no cable) Local (seasonal) sites to see: Walkway over the Hudson, FDR Home & Library (Hyde Park, 14 mi.away), Culinary Institute (11 Mi), Vassar College, Highland Landing Park, Old Kingston (original site of NYS Capital), SUNY New Paltz, Antique stores of NP, Huguenot Village, Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Mtn House.
We're unique because we live in a rural setting, yet within a few miles of - Mohonk, apple orchards, vineyards, 5 colleges, The Walkway Over the Hudson, etc. We also are 10 minutes from the train to NYC. *If you come from NYC by train - we offer pickup roundtrip for $10 (please make sure you ask if you need this.)
We fondly call our neighborhood, "the Outback," because we're in the woods. 1. The biggest plus is the peacefulness and we are centrally located near SUNY New Paltz and Vassar Colleges. There are also 2 community colleges nearby as well. 2. We regularly have a family of wild turkeys, deer, and red tailed hawks coming through the yard. Of course the usual chipmunks, ground hogs and squirrels. We even had a huge, beautiful large Owl land right outside the Suite window this past spring.
  • Warmly welcome! Clean and cozy apartment, fully equipped what is located in a lovely environment and just a really best location to discover the Hudson Valley attractions. Great experience for an enjoyable weekend. We truly recommend! Thanks!

  • I loved staying at Kit's place. I have been coming up to the Hudson Valley area for a couple of years to visit my son at college and decided to go the airbnb route this time. I'm so happy I did! Kit's place was perfect for my needs. A clean, quiet, cozy, and comfortable place that had easy access to my son's college as well as to many wonderful towns in the Hudson Valley. Kit and Mark have been in the area for many years so were a great resource for anything I needed. The kitchen was stocked with a nice assortment of breakfast items which was a nice bonus. I hope to be back many times during my son's college years and beyond.

She then proceeded to unplug the coffee pot and did not plug it back in. Friday night one of the guests decided to sit in the community area and talk on his phone on speaker at 11pm.

  • Van's place is a good value for the price if you don't mind sharing your quarters with others. The space(s) is/are a bedroom in a home, but each room is private and has its own door and keys. The bathroom is shared. The home is in a great location, very close to downtown and to the train station, helpful if you aren't traveling with a car, as I wasn't. The building is a bit old and creaky though and the walls thin, so I'd bring earplugs if you retire early.

    Jandro2018-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Van's place is amazing! The bedroom is clean and spacious, and smells great. He left us some snacks and wine, which we were not expecting. The bathroom was clean and well maintained as was the kitchen and living room areas. The house is located in a residential area but is within walking distance of restaurants, grocery store and is a 20 minute walk from the train station. I would really recommend staying here.

    Natalie2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Van was fast to respond to questions and a great host. The room was clean, comfy, and warm. The shared spaces were equally wonderful. The spot itself was super convenient for the Poughkeepsie area. Loved it.

    Garrett2016-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Van's place was great. Very clean and within a short drive from the train station. Although we didn't get to meet Van in person, he was friendly and very easy to reach and communicate with.

Located in the historic part of Poughkeepsie. This multifamily home is in a beautiful residential area close to all major attractions in the Hudson valley. Walking distance to metro north train, Vassar hospital, and the beautiful walkway over the Hudson. Within 15 minutes walk/5 minute drive to Marist College, Vassar college , and the culinary institute of America. Huge variety of restaurants and pubs in the area
Clean, quiet, and private, with private parking
    It is quiet and private
  • Comfy, cozy, and quiet. Great host and great communication. 3rd time staying at Van's!

    Jessica2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • The place was nice, clean, had everything we needed, and was in short walking distance to so much in town, perfect for us on our quick trip up to Poughkeepsie

    Robyn2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures make the place look more inviting than we found. Our room was extremely small and had only one hard back chair for sitting. My husband likes to read and found it difficult to find a comfortable spot. Also note this room is on the second floor up a narrow staircase with a twist at the top. We needed three keys to three doors before we actually made it to our room. Leaving us to wonder if there was a safety issue we should be aware of at this house. We did not meet Van but spoke with him on the phone where he gave us step by step instructions on finding our room. The building is more like an older two story apartment house with Van sharing the rooms out to Airbnb guests. The value was fair and we only stayed one night for a place to sleep before continuing our journey. As a women I would not have wanted to stay here alone. Just a feeling perhaps. We did find the place clean and quiet.

  • Stayed solo 2 nights for a local cycling event. My expectations for a private room with shared bath, kitchen, living area were far exceeded! Rooms within the house are all individually secure and Van has a great check in system. Common areas were well appointed and open. Shared a bathroom with a very nice couple with no issues at all. Walking distance to waterfront restaurants/taverns. All that and parking right beside the house. Highly recommend!

    Alica2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Van failed to reach out to me after my request was automatically accepted. I had to initiate contact with him a few days prior to arrival to confirm that he was still expecting me. I never could get Wifi connection. He was sending me messaging to "try" this password. He was slow to reply to my messages asking for help. I finally asked him to call me to help resolve the problem, which he never did. The bed wasn't comfortable because there was no box spring. On a positive note: His check-in instructions were clear, he puts a bottle of wine in the room and it's pretty quiet there. However, overall it wasn't a positive experience. I've used Airbnb probably 50 times this year, so I know how guests should be treated. I can't recommend.

    Alan2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second time staying at Van's place and it's great! It's clean, comfy and convenient. The location is residential within walking distance of restaurants and the train station. I highly recommend staying here.

    Natalie2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had a great stay here. Van provided wine and snacks and left us clear check-in directions. This place is within walking distance of the Hudson Bridge and a fun, local brewery. We would stay here again!

    Kelly2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Place was quiet and simple. With all the travel I do it was exactly what I needed. Van was responsive and helpful.

We're in a great location within a few miles of Vassar, Marist, and IBM. Hyde Park with FDR's home and the Culinary is a few minutes drive. There are two bedrooms, the first room has a beautiful queen size bed and adjoining cozy living room, with a private bath. The second has a king bed with its own private bath. Sleeps two, three or four. Continental breakfast provided. We're looking forward to meeting you.
  • The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. Judith and Greg were very friendly and welcoming. Cookies upon arrival and a gorgeous breakfast were ready for us. Great stay!

  • Ample room in a very clean home that is part of a quiet neighborhood; still close to major traffic artery. Most gracious hosts who were attentive to all our needs, while being unobtrusive. Conversations were engaging and interactions were meaningful. We look forward to staying with them again.

  • Judith & Paul were friendly, gracious hosts and their place is lovely. Bedroom and bathroom accommodations were roomy, clean and comfortable - just perfect! Judith extended her hospitality in the morning with breakfast treats including fresh baked bread and cookies, fruit, yogurt, coffee & tea. We couldn't have asked for a nicer airbnb. Directions were great. Very nice neighborhood. Would definitely stay here again when in the area.

  • Not enough stars to describe our experience!!! Great location for our sightseeing and antiquing trip to Hyde Park! Generous, warm hosts, impeccable accommodations... can't wait to visit again!

  • Judith's house is wonderful. Very clean and comfortable! They were very welcoming to me and my family. We stayed overnight to attend a wedding. It was the perfect location and we had fun talking with them in the morning .

  • Judith’s home is convenient to all the sights and activities around Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park. Her accommodations are beautiful and spotless in a lovely setting. She is a helpful and gracious host.

  • Judith (and Paul) were wonderful! They really take the "bnb" part of "airbnb" seriously - fresh-baked cookies and drinks on arrival, fruit, yogurt coffee and tea in the mornings, a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, everything you could want. Our arrival time changed a little bit, but Judith was so communicative and helpful. I honestly could not have asked for more.

Sunny, semi-private lodging on the second floor of a historic downtown mansion. My art studio has a comfy queen-size convertible bed; a separate sitting room has 2 hotel twin convertible beds that can be joined into a queen bed. Private entrance. Charming private bathroom with clawfoot tub and 1880s stained-glass window. Enjoy a beverage on the breezy back porch. A third room in the Robin's Nest apartment is my smaller art studio, which might be in use during your stay (it has its own door).
Two rooms and a private clawfoot bathtub/shower in a separate apartment, on the second floor of our spacious, warmly furnished historic home. The apartment features a cozy back porch—perfect for sipping your morning coffee or tea, or enjoying a beverage while watching the sun set. We offer guests coffee, tea, and continental breakfast in our home on the main floor.
Our home is situated on an intimate cul-de-sac oasis of four historic homes, two historic public buildings, and a church. Walking distance to the Walkway over the Hudson, Waryas Hudson River park, the Bardavon and Cunneen Hackett theaters, government offices, and several great restaurants and bars. Our porches and back yards are available for your enjoyment.
  • This is a great spot for an eclectic stay. The location was great, walking distance to restaurants and the waterfront. Great breakfast in the morning and very friendly hosts.

  • This is a great place to stay if you ever find yourself in Poughkeepsie for the weekend. It's centrally located which is obviously convenient, and the house itself offers space and privacy. The hosts were truly lovely. Very warm and friendly, and super accommodating. They went above and beyond in many ways. Highly recommended.

  • I recommend staying with Pina if your visiting Poughkeepsie. She is very nice, accomodating, and personable.

    Charlie2017-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place gives an excellent opportunity to view Poughkeepsie in its current transition into a hub for artists. Pina and Daniel were generous with their time and their CSA veggies!

  • Super nice & flexible hosts. Provided a continental breakfast! We were in Poughkeepsie for daughter's graduation. They allowed us to change which of us was staying there when plans changed.

    Cindy2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Pina and Daniel were lovely, even made breakfast for us. The space was perfectly comfortable, though a little hot because there was a/c in only one of the rooms.

  • Pina and Daniel were very nice and accommodating hosts. It was a true Bed and Breakfast experience. Daniel even made us breakfast in the morning! The Robin's Nest is a great place if you're passing through or for a short stay.

  • Comfortable and private accommodations in a beautiful, historic home. The claw foot bathtub in the freshly renovated bathroom was an extra treat. The location is easily walkable to riverfront attractions and restaurants in Poughkeepsie and also an easy drive to museums and activities in many beautiful surrounding towns (Dia:Beacon, Vassar College, hiking and bike trails, etc.). The hosts were beyond lovely and very knowledgeable about the area. Personal touches by the hosts made this a very special experience.

Family oriented , tree filled, bird filled, chipmunk filled ... Nice atmosphere! But close to everything. For several months starting June 1 there will be 2 medium sized dogs visiting .
  • 11 out of 10 - the very best. Kindest people, very generous, thoughtful about the big things (arrival, keys, communication) and the little extra things (mints, bike storage, kitchen usage, food, directions, etc.) My friend also stayed with me for his first Airbnb night - I told him this is likely the best Airbnb experience he will ever have :) Thanks Loraine!

  • We felt really lucky to find this Airbnb. It was a fairly short drive from the Vassar campus, and located in a quiet, safe, peaceful neighborhood. Loraine ' s home is lovely, and she did a wonderful job of communicating with us ahead of time, as well as providing lots of welcoming messages and instructions at the housr. We were there at the same time as another family, and those folks were delightful, making for a very pleasant and compatible stay. I highly recommend Loraine ' s bnb, and if we are ever in Poughkeepsie again, this is definitely where I would want to stay!

  • For a quick one night stay (and as a first timer to AirBnb), Lorraine's place was great. Lorraine was very responsive to my messages prior to my stay. She also allowed me to check in a little earlier because I had an event to go to immediately after. Even though she wasnt around during the time I arrived, there were lots of helpful messages around the house designating where things were and general ground rules of the house (aka clean up after yourself, extra pillows are in X place). When I returned from my event (returning late night), Lorraine was present and cheerfully greeted me. The next morning I met another Airbnb guest who was also staying at house and she was super nice; we chatted over a cup of coffee. Lorraine's place was very welcoming and very homey, great for a quick one-night stay or for a couple of days.

Wonderful neighborhood up from the Hudson RIver. River views in the Fall, Winter and Spring. Quiet with a sound of the train whistle
  • Troy and his dogs were marvelous hosts. The house was beautiful and homey, and his breakfast was incredible. He is also incredibly generous. When I mentioned that a friend and I intended to visit the Vanderbilt the next morning, he offered to give us a tour of the gardens, then invited her to breakfast as well to make it easier for her to meet us at the right time. This was my first stay using Airbnb, and I have impossibly high standards now for any future stays!

    Leah2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Troy is a super host! He graciously picked me up from the train station and made me feel more than welcome in his beautiful home. His dogs are absolutely lovely, amazing for dog people, and respectful for those who may be less inclined. I personally adored them. On top of all of this, Troy is an amazing cook! Whatever he whips up in the kitchen will leave a large smile spread across your face. I highly recommend staying here, and I hope to be back another time myself!

  • I wish we would have had more time to stay. It was an overnight trip to visit the CIA and Roosevelt Home. This house has been lovingly set up for guests. Clean and comfortable furnishings, super comfortable beds, a wonderful kitchen with everything you could need. They even included soft drinks in the refrigerator, snacks, coffee, and easy breakfast things. The CIA and Roosevelt home were minutes away and easy to get to. I hadn't planned on the snow, so we didn't take advantage of some of the other things in the area. Not much to do in the neighborhood itself, though.

My place is good for cooks, solo adventurers, business travelers, and furry friends (pets). This lovely Cosy room features a new comfy double bed. Private bathroom has a deep soaking claw foot tub.
Built in 1827 this Greek Revival features a secret room in the basement you can only get to through the trap door in the dinning room floor. 9' ceilings on the ground floor. 6+/- acre property is fully fenced and gated. Cook's room guest must enter and exit by the back staircase. Cosy room has a double bed (new). Wonderful deep claw-foot soaking tub for a relaxing bath.
Red Oaks Mills is centrally located and we live near the trail trail for cycling and walking enthusiasts. Walkway over the Hudson is only minutes away. Minutes from Vassar College and close to Marist.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay! The location is absolutely perfect for anyone visiting the Hudson Valley Region - with the perfect country setting yet so very close to everything you would need (gas station, drug store, coffee shop, restaurants, shopping) or want to visit (historical sites, outdoor adventures). We booked the Cook's Quarters and after checking in, would have been very pleased to stay there (direct access through the side door and up the stairs - nice size room with a comfy bed and private bath)...but we were fortunate enough to be given the upgrade to the Country Guest Cottage! This was very generous of our hosts, and the privacy and quiet country setting of the Country Guest Cottage was greatly appreciated the next morning :) The Country Guest Cottage was absolutely perfect! Separate from the main house with everything we needed - a spacious bedroom with a comfy bed and television, an eat in kitchen, perfect bathroom (shower only). Everything you need for a short or long stay! Our hosts were friendly and accommodating. The dogs and cats were calm and wonderful. 100% satisfied. And a hearty recommendation to anyone thinking of staying here!

  • Didi was an excellent host! She was flexible when my arrival time changed dramatically due to traffic, and she and her family were very engaging and accommodating upon my arrival. The space is exactly as the listing described and pictured! The house is beautiful and full of history. I would definitely stay with Didi again in the cook's quarters if I were in the area.

  • I love Airbnb because of Didi and her great welcome to the house. Didi and him were so kind to us. So guys and girls just pack your bags and stay out at her place. The house is huuuuuge and very beautiful

    Nikita2018-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Dyanne was kind and gracious but the cottage 'upgrade' (which she did not charge) was not good. There had been a recent permanent tenant who just left and the place reflected this being so. Little privacy with lots of knocking to retrieve items left in the fridge or offering pillows at 11pm. I left early and was not comfortable discussing these issues with the host. She did not want to refund me for the night.

    Pamela2016-08-21T00:00:00Z

Jack's house is perfect for a romantic weekend getaway! We loved the vintage vibes, made even better by all the brand new appliances. (The toilet was smarter than we were!) The kitchen was great for cooking big meals and the front yard made for the perfect setting for an outdoor feast. The master bedroom is super romantic with windows on all sides that let air (and those great mountain sounds) come in at night. Bonus: It leads right up to the jacuzzi, which rules. The house and surrounding property -- there's a little pond across the street -- made us feel totally secluded. In a good way! Jack was such a great host and provided us with ideas of what to do in Woodstock and the surrounding towns. He gave us detailed instructions to get to hiking trails and was always available via cell/ text. He also has a stellar record collection, which we took full advantage of. Overall, Jack's place was the perfect place for a quick trip and we can't wait to get back there again.
