  • We felt a bit awkward the first night with some of the stories Lance told about previous guests. The second night at 7 PM we came back to a quiet house we thought was empty. After half an hour we hear loud moans and yelling. We packed and left immediately. After AirBNB mediation we were provided with more context regarding our concerns. The Saul Zaik Treehouse is as advertised- an amazing structure with breath taking views. It is well decorated and clean.

  • Lance's treehouse is easily the most incredible home I've ever stayed in! Even though Portland was rainy and grey, the treehouse was happy and bright. The bed is sooo comfortable, and waking up to that view? Wow. Lance is a trip, full of funny stories and so generous with his coffee and beer. We could've hung out with him all day. And Bukowski! The cutest, most affectionate cat of all time. (Apologies to our own cat.) We took a million pictures of him and plotted to steal him constantly. We adored this place and would stay again in a Portland minute... whatever that means.

    Kathleen2016-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lance and his cat Bukowski were great hosts and very accommodating. He gave us a house tour and recommendations on bars/restaurants nearby. Downtown was a quick UBER ride away and I also walked to the hiking trails from the treehouse. Enjoyed the views and the bedroom area was large and had a nice seating area next to it with Portland restaurant magazines.

    Christie2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't have asked for a more beautiful and unique place to stay for our first visit to Portland. Beautiful neighborhood, fascinating house, and wonderful host. Thanks, Lance!

    Benjamin2016-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lance's house is amazing! Completely unique property, amazing styling inside, perfect views of Portland. Lance was friendly, easy to talk to, and incredibly welcoming. Bukowski is a welcome addition to the house as well! Check in and check out were easy. We were in total awe of the property, and would love to come back one day.

    Cal2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome guy. Awesome treehouse. Awesome cat. Awesome views. Awesome stay.

    Matthew2018-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • The view is incredible! Lance (and Bukowski) will make you feel right at home. Lance is very laid back and has lots of great stories if you feel like visiting - he doesn't mind at all if you hang out upstairs on his level of the home. The lower level of the home is private and very comfortable!

    J.2018-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • A quick but beautiful stay! Lance responds to messages fast and his house is very nice. We parked across the street (at first we were going to Uber or Lyft it over but rented a car and glad we did for the freedom of being able to get out of the city for excursions.)

Unique hand built cob cottage next to lg. pond w water feature. Lg. fenced and gated yard. Gentle, curving space-made from sand, straw, water and earth . Featured in multiple international publications. The floor is also earthen clay with added radiant heat. Beautiful natural light. It's truly a magical place.
It's a curvilinear earthen structure hand sculpted from water, sand, straw, and clay earth. It features a radial roof with a central pagoda-like skylight. When building the Cob, we used reclaimed and natural materials when ever possible. The insulation in the ceiling is made from pulverized reclaimed blue jeans and the floor is made from the same earthen clay. It has a Dutch door, so you can open the top part for additional ventilation. It also has air conditioning available in the warmer months and a radiant heat floor. The bed is a very comfortable double with a memory foam mattress topper. The bathroom for the cottage is in the main house, about 40 steps to the back door. Inside you’ll find a large sitting room and full kitchen as well as your bath with claw foot tub and shower. These spaces are shared with 2 Airbnb rooms in the house. If you find the bath busy, our full bath is available upstairs on the second floor.
We are located in a sweet older neighborhood in inner SE Portland, built around the turn of the century. The neighborhood is extremely walkable/bikeable, and just two blocks from one of Portland's great restaurant rows, filled with unique locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, food carts, pot shops, ice cream vendors, pizza joints, clothing retailers, yoga studios and yes, even an old-school hardware store.
  • This was such an amazing place! Jack and Cris were so kind and generous. This was my girlfriend and I's favorite stop in Portland and it was truly magical! Thank you guys!

  • Very nice place.

    Ari2016-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying here. The location was perfect, the accommodation was cozy, clean and comfortable, and the hosts were helpful and kind. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    Jenna2016-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jack and Cris's Cob Cottage was wonderful! It was a very unique and cozy little room with a very comfortable bed. Access to the bathroom at the back of their home was very simple and they even provided tea and coffee which was quite nice. I wish I could have stayed longer and would most definitely recommend staying here!

    Amanda2016-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was really cozy! The heated floors were definitely a plus, especially when the cold weather rolled through at night. Having the bathroom in a separate building wasn't as bad some have previously reviewed. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, and would definitely consider the cottage should I visit Portland again!

    Andrew2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed staying here. It was very warm and cozy and Jack and Cris were incredibly hospitable. I felt bad about having to call them when I got in at 11pm to help me check in, but they were very helpful and even offered suggestions on places to go in the area. If I ever get to make it back to Portland, I hope their place is available again.

This wonderful, private little gem is just a few easy walking blocks from plentiful drinking, dining, dispensing, yoga & coffee spots. You will be one block from Woodlawn Park, 2 blocks from a bus and a 5 minute drive from the Alberta Shopping and Arts District. It's all so comfortably close by, but not close enough to disturb your relaxing, sweet retreat. Come have it all while living small in this tiny, artsy home away from home!
This space was built as a Model T Garage in 1926 behind a 1915 bungalow but it has had a face lift and has taken on a new life as a cozy, warm freestanding studio made mostly from reclaimed materials. A "tiny house" if you will, sweetly positioned between fruit trees and a garden sitting area. The sleeping loft comfortably sleeps two and there is a futon below the loft where one can enjoy a book while the other naps above. Occasionally you will hear the trains in the distance which adds a touch of nostalgia and you get to wake to the relaxing clucking and cooing of the neighborhood hens as this area has a nice spattering of urban farms and lots of mature trees. For your comfort, this as a "pet dander free" space. No pets, thanks. The table pictured here has been replaced with a "garden shed" counter that houses a small, removable basin sink. There is also a rustic, rough hewn armoire to hang clothes and tuck away your backpacks. The little kitchenette corner is stocked with utensils, a two burner cooktop, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee and a coffee press. The studio's setup is more akin to a cabin, and as many cabins go, there is no bathroom. You will be given a key to the main house so please feel comfortable enough to come in and use the facilities. By the way, it is insulated, well heated, and stocked with plenty of blankets so it is a wonderful, warm hideaway in the fall and winter months as well. Yep, snuggly wifi too. The yard is plentiful with flowers and fruit bearing trees (figs and delicious yellow plums) in the summertime, as well as an array of veggies in the gardens where you can sit amongst the trees and regroup after a hard day at Powells Books. It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine: -Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service -Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching -Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game -Grand Army Tavern, have some pork with your...pork : ) -Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back & late night too -P's & Q's Market serves yummy meals and a few grocery items -The Village Ballroom, for Square Dance and Special events -Uptown Cycles, sales and repairs -Portland Girl, spa day anyone? -Greener Grasses, well-rated dispensary -Koken Market, for almost any beer you want, snacks -Café Eleven, art, coffee, lunch & some pastries -Oregon Public House, the nation's 1st nonprofit pub -The Highwater Mark, rock pub with pool & hip hop on last Fridays -Tamale Boy, authentic & delicious with lots of outside seating -Bassato Gelato, 12 rotating flavors+bagels in the morning -HighWheel Mead, open Thurs-Sunday -(Seasonally) Woodlawn Farmer's Market at Woodlawn Triangle, Sat. 10-2 Downtown is a 15 minute drive. The Alberta Arts District is also just minutes away so you can hop on a bike and be right in the middle of the jam-packed Last Thursday Art Walk or make a day of it with shopping, dinner and some delicious ice cream from the infamous Salt & Straw. Then come "home" to your quieter retreat where you can just relax and lay in the hammock.....ahhhh. And as the area is well surrounded by beautiful, mature trees, you may decide to enjoy dinner in the love seat swing under the pergola and watch the evening sky. It is a wonderful theatre for watching small bats do their sky routine in the distance. Flying in? This spot is only 10 minutes from the airport. And while in Portland, you may want some wheels! Well, this location is very close to Zipcars and you can sign up with them or Car2go on their sites in advance of your stay. Check out Turo or Getaround to grab a vehicle to tool But if you want to explore the city on two wheels, Everybody Bike Rentals or Ebikes ( electric bike rentals) are the spots to hit first (10 min. by bus). They provide helmets and locks too! ***If you don't see the dates available on the calendar that you had hoped for or if you are traveling with more than two people, please check out my other listing (#95313) which is also a private studio at the same location. It is larger and complete with a private entry and bathroom. Just ask me! Parking is close and the livin' is pretty easy. So please get that profile completed, then contact me and come kick up your heels and stay a while! Oh! P.S. Please read the description, house rules and post a pic of you in your profile beforehand just so that everyone is on the same page. Much appreciated. Cheers!
  • The cabin was super cute! We loved it! So easy and close to the airport, freeway to multnomah falls and some nice cafes and restaurants. We had fun walking around the neighbourhood. We drove into the city within 10mins! It was a great unique little accomodation stay :) thank you!!

  • The Rustic Barn Studio is perfect for one or 2 people exploring Portland. Andrée was an excellent host throughout my stay. Her flexibility (as my flight was delayed 2 hours) and suggestions on what to do during our stay helped make the trip as memorable as it was.

    Kathryn2016-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent space and location makes it easy to get anywhere you need to go! We had a great time and Andree was very nice.

    jonathan2013-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place. It was conveniently close to where I needed to be and Andrée is a wonderful host. I really recommend staying here, she treats you like family.

    Nina2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy studio that was a perfect base to explore portland. Andree was welcoming and helpful as a host, and the flat was clean and well stocked its all sorts of goodies. Highly recommended!

    Sarah2013-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Andrée was a lovely host, very pleasant and down to earth. I quite enjoyed our conversations whenever our paths would cross. The studio is very quiet and cozy. Checking in and out was very easy. There is on street parking next to her house with restaurants, bars and a market just a short walk away. I would recommend staying here to anyone traveling to Portland.

    Ryan2014-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Andree was friendly and easy to coordinate with, and the barn studio was exactly as described.

    Mackenzie2015-07-24T00:00:00Z

With lots of space and light, this studio has everything that makes a house feel like a home: a fireplace, a full kitchen, a queen bed, oak floors, handmade furniture, cable tv including HBO, and a private entrance.
This studio is a welcoming space in the center of an historic neighborhood that offers a unique perspective on the city of Portland. Ask me for in-depth info on where to go and what to see in the Irvington neighborhood, the Alberta Arts District, and other parts of Northeast Portland! Over the years, I’ve gotten to know quite a few incredible places to eat, drink, shop, and explore here. Located at the hub of some of Portland’s most interesting neighborhoods, this studio places the whole city at your fingertips. But adventure can be tiring, and the studio offers ample opportunity to put your feet up. Portland can get nippy at night, and a real wood fireplace, stocked with firewood from locally harvested and dried urban hardwood trees, is the perfect way to warm up and feel at home. The apartment has high ceilings and a great fireplace; it’s minimally decorated but has all the important things: a queen bed, a couch with a coffee table, a small desk, a dresser and extra shelves, and a kitchen table. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the essentials for cooking a real meal, and the bathroom always has towels, soap and shampoo. The space is located on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen.
The Irvington neighborhood, now only a ten minute bike ride from downtown, was once a trolley-car suburb to the just-fully-developed West side. Designated a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, Irvington is filled with early 20th century homes that have been preserved in their original states. Irvington has become a livable hub of Northeast Portland as a whole, with shops and restaurants of all kinds, within walking distance, surrounding the neighborhood. Irvington proper boasts more than a few community and culinary destinations of its own.
  • This place was perfect! Great location near Alberta and other great neighborhoods. If you're looking to spend some time in Portland, this is a must to check out!

    Josh2018-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about this place. I want to live here. Great character, classy furnishings, good neighborhood, fantastic restaurant recommendations. We came to explore Portland but couldn't bring ourselves to go outside. Highlight of the trip. Thanks for everything.

  • Super cute place! Convenient. Comfortable. The bed was super comfy. I really enjoyed my stay and hope it's available for my next trip to town!

    Monica2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place at definitely a great value. Jason was super cool and laid back. Provided a lot of info for a person visiting PDX for the first time. I would certainly recommend the place.

    Chris2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great and spacious studio. Calm area. Very comfortable bed! We met Jason briefly but he was easy to communicate with.

    Carole2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice space and comfortable bed. Within walking distance to various shops, restaurants, and bars, and close to an adorable cafe/wine bar called Foster & Dobbs - everyone there is very nice! The bathroom is small, which is the only slight negative. Otherwise check in and check out were very easy, as was parking. Access to washer/dryer in the basement as well!

    Gerald2016-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place to stay if you're visiting from out of town. It's in an absolutely gorgeous neighborhood (think New Orleans Garden District), and super accessible. Even though this is an apartment I didn't hear any other people while I was there. Very quiet. Clean. Good furniture. Check in was easy, and Jason gave me all the deets ahead of time. I'd stay here again.

    Holly2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • The place itself was great, so spacious, private, and very walkable to shops and restaurants.

This quaint 1 bedroom furnished apt. is located downstairs in our historic brick English tutor home. It has a separate key, private entrance, and courtyard. The space is well-lit with two windows and has a back door to a beautiful garden and patio in the backyard as well as a side door to the courtyard. The location is Laurelhurst - one of Portland's oldest and most beautiful planned communities on a quiet, tree lined street within 10 minutes of the city and 15 min. from the airport. Major shopping, wonderful restaurants and one of Portland's most beautiful parks are all within walking distance. This ideal location is only two blocks from a major bus line and 5 blocks from the MAX train. It is also within walking distance of favorite east side shopping and dining areas, including Hawthorne, Belmont and 28th street. When you enter this mid-century decorated apartment you will immediately feel at home! You will find a comfortable queen sized bed, overstuffed chair and desk with the latest mesh technology wireless internet, flat screen TV with cable, Blu-ray CD player, a collection of movies in the bedroom. Other amenities include a private courtyard, washer/dryer in the apt., and easy walking distance to bus, train, restaurants and shopping. More information on our historic home can be found on Oregon Encyclopedia website. Search for "Brick House Beautiful". Our home has also been in "Better Home and Gardens" magazine and has been twice on the cover of "Old House Journal". If we are home when you arrive, we will be happy to give you a tour of our home and offer you a cup of tea or a glass of wine while you have complete access to our English gardens, courtyard and barbecue during your stay. We think you will be pleased if you choose to stay in the "Quaint English Garden Apartment " located in our beautiful historic home!
Laurelhurst is an historic old Portland neighborhood with beautiful homes, street trees and a huge park a few blocks away designed by the Olmsted's who designed Central Park in NYC. You will see how homes in Laurelhurst are each very different and unique from craftsmen with large porches to smaller bungalows with beautiful gardens.
  • Bob and Sue's clean and cozy cottage was a home away from home! Upon my arrival I was delighted to note the beautifully lush neighborhood. During my stay I was able to walk to the nearby Laurelhurst Park-- a perfect place to enjoy a pie picnic or a good book from Powell's near the lake. Located next to several local businesses such as The Pie Spot and Blue Star Donuts and just a short ride away from Downtown, Bob and Sue's cottage was the perfect choice for a little Portland getaway (:

    Mela2016-06-08T00:00:00Z

  • Bob and Sue are extremely gracious, thoughtful and welcoming hosts. We were given a tour of their historic home, which was being prepared for Christmas complete with an enormous tree in the living room. The apartment was impeccably clean and totally furnished with everything you might need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The home is located in an historic section of Portland, close to downtown and with lots of great restaurants and shopping nearby. We very much enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again! Many thanks to Bob and Sue for providing such a wonderful accommodation and for being such great hosts!

    H. John2015-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you find yourself in Portland & looking for a nice, quaint neighborhood I would definitely recommend staying at Bob & Sue’s place. Their beautiful home is located to many amazing restaurants and hip neighborhoods at just a walks distance. The cottage had everything to make your stay comfortable. Bob & Sue are so kind and thoughtful and will make sure your needs are met. The space was perfect for our stay! Looking forward to when we can visit again!

  • From the moment we walked in the door and met our wonderful hosts, we felt right at home and very comfortable. They have a beautiful home with lots of character. It will be the place we want to stay when we return to Portland!

    Mickey2012-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Bob, along with their home, exceeded our expectations with how welcoming, generous, beautiful and accommodating their home was. We were warmly welcomed into their front door to receive a small tour of their historic home and then shown the apartment we were renting. We were surprised to find a bottle of champagne on ice with glasses, waiting for us in our kitchenette (we told them upon booking the room that is was our honeymoon), so sweet. They had everything we needed in their well appointed apartment. One of the best neighborhoods in Portland, on a beautiful street. We highly recommend staying here (but only if you are under 6'5" because the ceilings are short!). Thanks again for the great experience!

    Brian2015-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really great place to stay! The home is beautiful and the cottage has everything you need. Sue and Bob gave us fantastic recommendations for things to do and see. Their garden is a wonderful place to sit and have a drink. Close to public transit and we walked to great bars and restaurants on Division and Hawthorne.

    Cory2015-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Bob were phenomenal hosts! My husband and I are already thinking of planning our next trip to Portland because of them, their beautiful home, and the amazing hospitality!

Everything you need is here at our brand new guesthouse loft: a luxurious, lofted queen bedroom; high ceilings with floods of natural light, a modern kitchen, full bath with heated tile, comfy sleeper sofa for extra guests, and Stumptown Coffee with organic cream. The loft rests at the back of the property, one block from bustling Division St, and short blocks from restaurants, coffeeshops, & the Woodsman Tavern, named “One of America’s Best Bars,” by Esquire Magazine.
The loft is located in our backyard in Southeast Portland. While we are only steps away if you need us, the space is very private. In fact, guests report that they forget they are in the middle of the city when they stay in our space! We live in a desirable and fun neighborhood, and parking can be tight! Guests usually find parking within a block of our house. At night or during busy times of the day, parking can be found within two short blocks. Guests may feel free to use our driveway for loading/unloading. We do not have a TV in the guesthouse, but offer excellent wifi access.
Our neighborhood has everything you will need, mostly within a five-minute walk! And if you want to visit a different part of the city, there is convenient public transportation around the corner. Check out excellent coffeeshops blocks away (Good Coffee and Stumptown), delicious and intimate restaurants (Bete Lukas, Mi Mero Mole, The Woodsman), or walk up to Mt. Tabor Park. If you're into yoga, there's an awesome space (Yoga Union) around the corner.
  • Cute, new stylish and cozy little place. Parking sucks only street parking and good luck finding any near by. Be prepared to walk a few blocks. Home offers great wifi but no TV. Wish they did have a TV, would of been nice to log into Netflix to watch a movie and unwind. The home is in a central location minutes from everything. Check in and out was a breeze. I would recommend it to others looking for something affordable and cozy.

  • Laurel and Brian delivered a nice, clean, well appointed and rather hip guest house, it was very much enjoyed. Suggest trying the Fern restaurant just around the corner for breakfast or lunch.

  • Amazing place. Highly suggest it?

  • A bright and cozy space to unwind while visiting Portland. Very usable kitchen living room.

    Lesley2018-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel and Brian's guest house was perfect! Everything was super clean and looked exactly like the pictures. The location was great if you don't want to be in the heart of the city and there are tons of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again!

  • This place is as amazing as it looks! the hosts are so lovely and easy going. communication when arriving was a breeze, we walked right in the house. we were so busy roaming the city i actually never had a chance to meet laurel and brian. however they were just a text msg away and kept in touch with us when needed. the space itself is absolutely beautiful its got everything you need to have a wonderful time, not to mention the bed was so comfortable it made it difficult to want to get up early and explore portland. they are situated in a prime location of the city. Hawthorne, Belmont and division road are all within 15 min walking distance, all of these streets have amazing food coffee and beers along them to keep you occupied for hours. from there its an 8-12$ uber ride into the downtown area. theres also a cpl lovely hikes within walking distance from the house! i could go on and on all in all it was an amazing stay and would highly recommend this place to everyone! and will definitely be back here again Thanks!

  • Incredible space. Lots of natural light, loved the layout, lots of privacy and well-thought out amenities. Loved the natural wood and color scheme. Super comfy bed! Laurel and Brian were very prompt, friendly and accessible. The neighborhood was great with lots of walkable food options. (Huge thumbs up for the Woodsman Tavern and Petite Provence). Highly recommend this space and will likely be back for my next business trip.

Where Bali meets Portland. Come relax in this newly, beautifully designed, private mixed use accommodation. Just five short blocks from Portland's hip N Williams district. A rooftop deck.
I have a total of five rooms, each listed separately in this unique mixed-use building where I also live and work. You will enter just past the Ned Ludd front patio via a private, secure, gated entrance off of MLK at NE Failing street and follow the stairway up to the second level. This is the larger of the three rooms. Each room is newly refurbished and furnished with beautiful, responsibly sourced tropical salvage out of Indonesia and locally re-purposed wood/trim doors and windows. Your private room comes with a window, a wall-mounted flatscreen t.v., small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, free wi-fi an armoire, an ornate sink carved out of stone, down pillows, down comforters, a king-sized posturepedic mattress and zen colored walls that might just make you think you are in... Bali?
NEPO (aka NE Portland) is hip and cool and like so many hip Portland neighborhoods–it is ever-expanding and reinventing itself. New restaurants, shops, boutiques and businesses are popping up all over. Whether you are looking for a place to lay your head for the night while you get out and explore during the day, or you are just looking for a place you can hole up and relax, we've got you covered. The options and amenities you will find here in your little oasis in NEPO are plentiful.
  • Enjoyed the stay here in Portland. Parked my car and never turned it on until I was leaving due to the great location. Nice walk to Burnside on the east side of the river, Moda Center, etc. Bring your good walking shoes, but it is worth it.

  • Comfortable rooms and great location.

    Gabriel2017-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! Near public transport (1 min walk) and if you prefer to walk it's only a 15 min walk to Mississippi avenue. Hip restaurants around the area (the Mexican downstairs was great) and Ned Ludd seemed popular too. Very comfortable bed and facilities. Bathroom is not inside the rooms but were always available, clean and looked after. Timothy was a great host, we called him as we weren't clear on how to get in when we arrived and he was very helpful and always available.

    Ari2017-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tim's place was perfect for our stay! Clean, conveniently located, and it was equipped with everything we needed. Tim was available whenever we needed him, and Ned Ludd's -- the adjacent restaurant -- was lovely!

    Kelly2016-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great room with much more privacy than expected, which was very nice. I love that he allows dogs - it made my trip much more doable. The patio was nice, I enjoyed it on my first evening and took advantage of the keurig coffee machine every morning :) I would defiantly stay here again.

    Betsy2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Timothy was such a great host. My wife and I loved the room and it was exactly what we were looking for. It’s close to a lot of great bars and restaurants and centralized to the entire city. The bed may have been the most comfortable bed I’ve ever laid on! Definitely going to try to stay here next time we’re in town.

    David2018-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Room was nice and spacious. Great location in a cool neighborhood. Plenty of bars, restaurants, and food carts in the neighborhood. Quick drive, uber, or bike ride into downtown. Deck was very nice. Timothy gives excellent easy to follow instructions.

    Evan2018-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • The place was exactly what we needed - comfortable, easy, well planned and clean. It helped a lot that there was parking close by and the restaurant next door was excellent.

This listing is a private bedroom in a shared apartment with 3 other individuals. We are considerate, quiet, & conscious of our guests space & privacy. In the heart of Portland's NW 23rd District, our place is nestled close to some of Portland's finest shops & cafes: Salt & Straw, Barista, and Fireside to name a few. The apartment has become a "destination" in itself due to the amazing natural light & Scandinavian interior design - even garnering its own hashtag on Instagram (#theaptupstairs).
"The Apartment Upstairs" is perfect for couples, urban adventurers, and creative travelers. Private bedroom outfitted with luxury Portuguese linen, plush Turkish cotton towels, waffle knit robes & slippers, & alpaca wool throws from our friends over at Parachute Home. All room decor and artwork is done by fellow Portland & Los Angeles creatives.

  • The apt upstairs was great. It was so quiet and peaceful. I love their living room space and I could never tell that other people lived there. There's no ac but the box fan worked great. The place is walking distance to just about everything! Highly recommend.

    Hannah2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Benjamin was a really accommodating and very helpful. We were in a crunch to book a room quickly and received a response almost immediately. The room was just as described, and we appreciated all of the small touches and details, its really a beautiful space. The alphabet district has a lot to offer and really walkable to a lot of great food and cafe's. We like walking and found it easy to get downtown and to nearby shops. Benjamin gave us some great recommendations for things to do around the city and was very responsive to our needs. Thank you for the wonderful stay.

    Maricruz2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Benjamin and his house-mates were excellent hosts and made us feel very comfortable! We have a wonderful time in Portland, and coming back to their immaculately decorated home with the most comfortable bed and incredible pillows was a treat. Would definitely recommend their home!

    Gyungeun2018-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Ben's place is very comfortable and has a great style. It's a small but cosy room and has a shared bathroom. Check-in was very easy even though Benjamin wasn't there to show us around. We very much enjoyed his list of recommendations. 23rd street is nearby the apartment where you'll find good Cafés, restaurants and stores. We had a great time in Portland and definitely recommend the aptupstairs!

    Daniel2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two nights here and absolutely loved it! Our flight was very delayed, so we got in much later than expected, but Benjamin was super accommodating and everything went as smoothly as possible. The place itself is gorgeous, very well designed/decorated, and they went the extra mile to give us a list of the best places to check out, which we absolutely referenced. Would definitely come back!

Relaxed + modern one bedroom basement apt. Bright + spacious with a handmade Portland touch. Comfortable for two, it's a great home-base for the traveler wanting to explore PDX! Located in charming Woodlawn neighborhood. Near the park, bars and bus lines.
Handmade by us! We're a craftsman and an interior designer who are not afraid to get our hands dirty. Stay in this remodeled basement where every detail was thought, planned and carefully constructed. We value high-end, conscious design. Our motto is maintain, reclaim and sustain. All of the exposed wood was salvaged from this 100 year old home! We love our house and hope that you do too. It's a great, peaceful place to crash at the end of the day. A plush queen sized bed, a huge doorless walk-in bathroom (ie. divided by a wall), glass walk-in shower and a tiny but efficient kitchen were top priorities when we made this place. The kitchen has dishwasher/fridge/oven stocked with all the pots/pans and plates to make a nice meal at home. Its always a shifting art-installation, so don't be surprised if the art in the listing photos change. We like to collect art and objects during our travels.
We're one block from 2 major bus lines (the 8 goes to downtown) and our neighborhood market, P's & Q's. 3 blocks from Woodlawn park + 5 blocks to our neighborhood hub: breweries, dance hall, coffee shop and restaurants. Woodlawn is a great area and closely located to Alberta Arts District, Mississippi and Kenton.
  • One of the coolest AirBnB we have stayed in! The decorations and layout were just amazing! We didn't want to leave! We wish we had more than 1 day in Portland. We hope to be back!

  • Anna and Jeremy were Awesome! Anna was very kind in attending to our needs. We lost our luggage for a day and she was so kind to offer us anything we needed. There space is clean, modern and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much. It was in a perfect location, close to everything. We would stay again, hands down.

  • Awesome apartment in a good location! Would recommend and would stay again. Thanks Anna and Jeremy!

    Chase2017-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Jeremy's space was clean, cozy, and well-designed - it's a gorgeous space! The home is a short walk from a few bus stops and in a quiet and safe neighborhood. They provided a long list of things to do and places to eat. We were thankful that they let us pass by and drop our bags off before check in since we had an early flight! We would love to stay here when I visit in the future!

    Gayle2018-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect space to start off our trip! Anna was waiting for us once we arrived and Jeremy even checked on us later in our trip. Trust the recommendations Anna share...she has great taste! The space ready for us when we arrived, very clean, walking distance to so many fun shops and restaurants.

    Ericka2016-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • The place was immaculate and comfortable, exactly as advertised, and the hosts were easy to communicate with. Highly recommended.

  • Thank you Anna and Jeremy for letting us stay in your warm and welcoming home. The place is gorgeous - beautiful and clean with nice touches of design detail. The shower though!! That was the best part of the whole place! So beautiful. Close to a brewery and breakfast spots. Communication with hosts was easy

A quiet, cozy bedroom & bathroom on the ground floor of a beautiful, modern new home in a verdant, friendly Southeast Portland neighborhood. Enthusiastic greeting by very friendly dogs & cat comes standard!
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE REQUESTING ACCOMMODATION. As a courtesy to our guests, our check-in time is 2:00 pm; however, as we both work weekdays, we cannot have the rooms ready until 5:30 or so. What this means is that our guests are welcome to make themselves at home in their living room or just drop their bags off and head out exploring, but they won't be able to rest their weary heads or hit the showers until we've had a chance to get home and tidy up. (PLEASE NOTE: This listing highlights the primary guest bedroom available, but for parties of 3 or 4 people, we do have a secondary bedroom that also features a queen-sized bed. If you are making a reservation for two people and you wish to book both bedrooms, PLEASE EXPLICITLY TELL US SO, as the default for two guests is ONE bedroom; for a two-guest reservation, the cost will be the listed room rate + $30/night. All guests share the same bathroom.) There is almost an entire floor available in our newish home smack-dab in the heart of fun, accessible Southeast Portland! This means that our guest(s) get not only their own quiet bedroom, but also a private full bathroom AND their own nicely-appointed living room (please note: the first-floor living room is NOT private, as it does not have a ceiling and is the way between the front door of the house and the stairs to the second floor). We are steps away from a frequent-service bus line, a terrific sandwich shop that's open for breakfast, lunch AND dinner, a pizza joint, a Starbucks, and, best of all, a Trader Joe's! The house is about two miles south of the trendy Hawthorne district, one mile south of nationally-recognized Division Street, and about four miles east of downtown Portland. The house itself is a beautiful, soaring Doug Fir- and hemlock-constructed dream home decorated with one-of-kind glass art pieces and potted succulents. Our guests have access to our fabulous kitchen in addition to their own first-floor amenities. We have a very friendly housecat you will likely meet during your stay, but the guest bedroom and guest bathroom doors are kept closed for the comfort of allergen-sensitive guests. We also have two friendly dogs who will greet you eagerly upon your arrival, but who otherwise spend their time hanging out with us and don't wander much to the guest floor. Lastly, to our guests during the colder months: the guest floor tends to be the coolest in the house, and we provide space heaters and afghans for your comfort, but we figure we should let you know ahead of time that if you run cold, ours may not be the ideal place for your stay.
Our neighborhood is so great! We are really close to several cool Portland hubs, but we're on a relatively quiet residential street so we truly have the best of all worlds.
  • I had a wonderful 8 day stay with Becca, Brad, Biscuit, and Carlos. Their urban treehouse is spotless, conveniently located and comfortable. My first floor bedroom, private bath and sitting area were great for an 8 day stay and not once did I feel I had to be quiet or tippy-toe around as Brecca and Brad's private area was on the third level. The home is bright, modern, and my interaction with Brad and Becca was easy and fun! Carlos the dog was well behaved and stayed out of my hair and I fell in love with Biscuit the cat. I would not hesitate to stay here again!

    Leslie2014-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house that is next to some great eateries. We were within walking distance of the HUB brewery, which was a great first evening experience. Brad and Becca were stupendous hosts who were exceeding welcoming! This was the perfect home base for a Portland adventure!

    Louisa2014-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Brad and Becca are friendly nice people. Their place is well-kept and they are knowledgeable about the area. Thanks!

    William2014-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Brad and Becca kicked off our Pacific Northwest honeymoon on a super positive note! They are both friendly and really knew their way around Portland, giving us great tips on restaurants and things to do in the area. Their house is welcoming (and filled with plants!), you get a feeling of privacy in the room and a feeling of sunny hospitality in the common areas. The room was great, comfortable bed, and our experience was quiet. The neighborhood is pleasant and we had fun walking to the closest main street. Their dog Carlos was a charming pup.

    Allison2014-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • I was there only a brief time - enjoyed it very much. I totally loved the kitty spending some time with me. Great location and Becca was very welcoming.

    Diane2015-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Brad and Becca were so wonderful during our stay. They gave us directions, answered all our texts and best of all, shared their lovely home with us! Our daughter loved their pets and cool stairs, and the yoga studio down the street is divine. Make sure you check out Cloud City Ice Cream nearby too!

    Jesska2015-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the urban treehouse. Brad and Becca accommodated for our changing arrival time and also provided some great recommendations for our short one day stay in Portland - we would have loved to stay longer! The accommodation was clean, comfortable and private. We also loved the welcoming committee - Diego the cat and Carlos the dog! We would highly recommend to others.

    Claire2016-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Brad and Becca were very friendly, they were easy to communicate with, and super easy to share a living space with. The neighborhood had tons of restaurants within walking distance (we ate at Shut Up and Eat, and Yoko's), and is a quick 10 min drive to downtown PDX. Would very much like to come back here.

Newly constructed in 2016, our private detached garden studio sits in the heart of a quiet residential neighborhood and is a short stroll to top restaurants, food carts, and shopping in hip SE Portland. The space is compact -- about 240sf -- but cozy, bright and a great place to unwind after a day of exploring Portland!
Our cozy studio includes a comfy queen bed, vaulted ceilings, full bathroom, kitchenette, and small sitting area. It's fully detached from the main house, so offers complete privacy. Skylights, french doors, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows provide an abundance of natural light, even on a grey, drizzly Portland day, as well as views of the west hills. It's small --about 240sf-- but the space is well utilized with many amenities such as wireless Bluetooth speaker, Portland maps and guides, and comfy pillows and blankets to make it feel like home. The space is best suited for guests seeking a cozy place to relax and recharge after a day of exploring Portland; If you're needing more of a "hangout spot," this may not be the best fit. The studio has a full bathroom with shower (no tub). The kitchenette includes a mini fridge, sink, instant hot water, coffee maker, coffee press, microwave and everything you need for reheating leftovers from the many restaurants and food carts nearby. Complementary tea and coffee are provided along with a long list of restaurant recommendations. There’s a growler available for filling, which you can do at The Imperial Bottle Shop on Division Street and at many local breweries and grocery stores nearby.
We love living in the heart of the Richmond neighborhood! Nestled on a quiet, residential street, we're a short stroll (about 1/3mi) to hip and eclectic restaurant and retail districts of SE Portland. A 4-block walk brings you to a bus stop that can get you most anywhere else in town. A short walk from the studio brings you to food, shopping and entertainment (to name a few of our favorites): PokPok, Salt & Straw, Ava Gene's, Bollywood Theater; Food Cart pods, Little T Bakery, St Honore; A myriad of boutiques, shops and independent movie theaters on Hawthorne, Clinton and Division streets. You'll likely meet some friendly neighborhood cats during your stay, but due to severe allergies, our studio is pet- and allergen-free. You may also spot our eyepatch-wearing, kung fu-performing neighbor (and good friend) practicing in the street, sometimes alongside his 4yo daughter. He’s a world-renowned martial artist and teacher, is super friendly and adds some true Portland character to our otherwise sleepy neighborhood.
  • Melissa and Brian's place was a garden suite dream - they put such care and thought into every detail to ensure their guests have a wonderful trip and it shows. The hosts were easily available in person or by text and very helpful even leading up to our stay. The location is central to a number of local shops and attractions and the restaurant recommendations list was so appreciated and came in handy multiple times.

    Paula2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little spot in a delightful residential area. The description and pictures were spot on. The hosts were truly delightful and very accommodating. I literally felt like I was a resident of Portland during my stay. Absolutely perfect.

    Greg2017-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect! Melissa is really sweet and helpful. Communication couldn't have been better. It is clear that they really put time and thought into creating this space. It's extremely relaxing and beautiful. The location couldn't be any better, you're close to buses, great food, and cute shops, but it still feels quiet and private. We spent our mornings sipping coffee and listening to music on the bluetooth speaker. An amazing find on Airbnb: Book it now! Thank you for having us!

    Maggie2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • This space was exactly as posted on the site, and then some. Offers the quietness of a neighborhood with all the things one could want within walking distance. And for the price, can't be beat.

  • Beautiful space and excellent hosts :)

    Rachael2018-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • This studio is spacious and very comfortable. I was only able to stay for a short amount of time, but one could comfortably stay there for an extended amount of time. The neighborhood is nice and quiet, but you are very close (short walking distance) to many great restaurants and bars.

    Brad2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for our honeymoon and we can’t say enough good things about this cute studio! It is even more beautiful than the pictures! It’s just a short walk to some of the best places in Portland! The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful and peaceful, perfect for afternoon strolls to go get ice cream or something from one of the many amazing shops on division! Melissa was so wonderful to check in on us and make sure everything was perfect and that we had everything we needed! We were even able to chitchat with the neighbors who were so so friendly and made us feel welcomed too! Melissa’s place was the best and we can’t wait to get the opportunity to stay here again!

    Crystal2018-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts greeted us when we arrived and said they were available for any questions or suggestions. On one day when they left the area, we were informed and told to text them with anything we needed. The reviews are all excellent because it's a beautifully designed place to stay in a great, convenient neighborhood. Melissa and Brian made our first trip to Portland a great experience. Thanks for sharing your space.

Seen on the TV show "Tiny House Nation", CNN, Food & Wine Magazine, and the NY Post, the 350 sq ft Rustic Modern Tiny House was designed and built by us, your friendly AirBNB hosts. Guests call it "completely charming" and "the perfect urban getaway". Welcome! M+J
For years we've been daydreaming about building a little house one day. Then we finally made it happen - using our own two hands (DIY! The Portland way!) and with the help of some great friends. We had a vision in mind, but a lot of the details came together as we built, based on what materials we had available to us. Downstairs is the kitchen, living room with convertible couch, and bathroom with tiny clawfoot tub. Access the upstairs via STAIRS (not a ladder), where you'll find our loft bedroom with comfortable queen sized bed. Sustainable design is important to us, and the house is constructed and furnished from an eclectic array of reclaimed materials - squirreled away over the years, and now creatively reused and repurposed. See photo captions for a detailed walkthrough of the house. A PARTIAL SNAPSHOT • The trim and shelves are reclaimed from an old shed that used to be on the property. • Teak hardwood flooring, cedar shake siding - salvaged from high-end construction jobs. • The wood-clad windows salvaged from a horse farm in the Oregon countryside. • The kitchenette stove/refrigerator sourced from the Hood River History Museum. Instagram: @rusticmoderntiny
We love our walk/bike friendly N. Williams Ave neighborhood - it's been getting a lot of media attention as one of Portland's hottest neighborhoods. You are one block from the main corridor, bustling with award-winning restaurants, bars, coffee shops, wine bars, bakeries, yoga studios, and indie boutiques - it seems there's something new every week. Sunset Magazine loves its “low-key urban vibe", past guests call our neighborhood "awesome", "amazing" and "full of things to do". Our street has even made an appearance or two on the TV show Portlandia.
  • Loved the tiny house for a quick Portland trip over Christmas. Adorable, perfect size for two and central to everything we needed. Would be great in summer, I bet! Thanks for creating such a comfortable space that also feels quite special.

  • This is the place to stay in Portland! My wife and I had such a good time!

  • This tiny house was absolutely gorgeous. As pictured, if not bigger than I expected. Great location, many shops, bars, and places to eat in walking distance! Hosts, Michael and Jenny were very helpful and eager to answer any questions. Cant wait to come back, would highly recommend!

    Jess2014-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute house in a great location. Plenty of eats and drinks within walking distance.

    Jerry2015-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Tiny House is an adorable, craftsman house that was a snap to get to from the PDX airport. It's located near a few great restaurants (like Tasty n Sons) and a really nice market called New Seasons. The house itself is exactly as it looks in the AirBnb photos, and it was just as beautiful in person. We found it to be very cozy and it had everything we needed. Sleeping upstairs with the sloped ceilings imparted the feeling of being in a well-made treehouse. Communication with Michael was also spot on; he was available for any issue that came up and responded immediately. In addition, Jenny also has an awesome list of restaurants/bars/good eats in Portland to check out on foursquare! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a very "Portland" experience, as it was a million times better than staying in a hotel. Thanks again, Michael and Jenny!

  • Great spot in a nice and safe neighborhood. The tiny house was very well thought out and perfect for the two of us. Short walk from great coffee, food and bars (we tried many the recommended places and they were all spot on). We will definitely try to stay here again next time!

  • We had an amazing time in Portland! Jenny and Michaels home was so charming and the perfect house for our first visit to Oregon. They were more than accommodating and very helpful with travel tips. Booking with them was a breeze! We will definitely be staying at the Rustic House on our next visit!

    Sara2014-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time staying at the Tiny House with a couple of friends. Such a quirky little place and very well situated for local shops and cafes on N Williams Ave with N Alberta St and the centre only a short ride away. We loved exploring the city by bike which Michael and Jenny kindly arranged for us. We would definitely recommend to friends heading to Portland. Thanks!

Cute little Tiny House! It used to be our boys' fort when they were young, now it is a comfortable little retreat for adventurers exploring Portland!
Cute little back yard "granny flat" cottage located near Mt Tabor park in very desirable neighborhood! The cottage is "Portland Style" construction with excellent insulation (R30), new windows, etc.. Great host, free internet, parking, furnished living space that is quite private.. The cottage contains an upstairs bedroom & sitting area. Note: There are steep stairs, so please take that into account ~ if you have joint pain, etc. this might not be the best choice of places to stay... The QUEEN size mattress is new and comfortable. Downstairs there is a small kitchen with stove, microwave and under the counter fridge. Also downstairs is a full bath with ceramic tile shower. Coffee maker and freshly ground coffee provided in the cottage as well as complimentary muffins. At times a made to order hot breakfast is available, message me to see if it will be available during your stay :-D. Guests are welcome to use washer/dryer in main house. Guests have use of the back yard with fruit trees and some berries when in season. Also the cottage is within walking distance of Division street shops, Pizzicato pizza, the 52nd & Foster street Food Carts and much more. The # 4 bus is just a block and a half away, which can take passengers west directly downtown. The TRI-MET app or website is easy to use & can help you get you anywhere from the airport, to downtown, to Powells Books, The Chinese Garden, and so on.
South Tabor Neighborhood is a quiet eclectic little neighborhood with many avid gardners, friendly neighbors, and gobs of dog lovers. We have community get-togethers, work parties, and holiday celebrations! If you are used to neighborhoods where no one knows each other or even speaks to each other this is definitely NOT the neighborhood for you :-D
  • Great place. Great location. Great breakfasts!

    Danny2016-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • To be frank, South Tabor Cottage was such a wonderful place to stay. It was snuggled into a quiet suburban community with close knit neighbors. Lisa gave us our privacy and prepared some incredible food for us (seriously try the vegan burrito bar or the biscuits & gravy). Our cottage was only a mile or two from Division St, where you can find the renowned Pok Pok restaurant or the unique tastes of Salt & Straw ice cream. There is a Bus 4 stop right down the street which can take you downtown in a mere 15 minutes. Otherwise you can just mosey on over to Rain or Shine coffee to get your morning caffeine fix.

  • Great litlel place! Clean and inviting plus QUIET!! Thank you (Website hidden by Airbnb) was wonderful. We'd love to stay again.

    Rose2013-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the cottage. It's cozy, comfortable and very clean. Lisa made breakfast for us,and it was delicious! Very pleasant hostess. I definitely recommend the place and would stay there again. Cottage is in a beautiful and peaceful neighborhood. Very glad we stayed there.

    Raymond2013-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • I'd stay here over a hotel any day. Hassle free check-in, privacy, clean, feels like home, quiet, thoughtful host...A+

    Jared2017-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • With all the great reviews of Lisa's place we didn't think we'd be able to get a reservation, but we lucked out. Lisa's cottage lived up to all the positive comments - a great place to get a taste of Portland lifestyle at very reasonable price. The cottage was very clean and provided everything we might need, including fresh ground coffee and bathrobes. The breakfast Lisa cooked was superb, with her famous potatoes, creamy scrambled eggs, fresh mango, and home-made tomatillo sauce. Would definitely visit again. One caution - the steps to the upstairs sleeping area are a bit steep and shallow, so anyone with knee problems might find going up and down the stairs a bit of a challenge....

    Penelope2013-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • If you are planning on staying in Portland, stay with Lisa! Her backyard cottage has everything you need and is perfect for a vacation. Located in southeast Portland, you're super close to a lot of stores and local cafes, without having to deal with all the downtown craziness (but that's only about 10minutes away, if you're brave). Be sure to take her up on her breakfast, too! You won't regret it.

    Kody2014-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • If you're staying in Portland, definitely check out this very nice and cozy cottage. It's places in a good location, and it has fantastic amenities. But the highlight is Lisa's complimentary breakfast made to order. Make sure to get her rosemary (Website hidden by Airbnb) delicious!

Nestled in the private backyard of our family home, a neighborhood hub. The round, rustic, romantic MudHut hides in a secret garden overlooking the St. Johns bridge and sparkling river, near Cathedral Park, Forest Park, downtown St. Johns, canoe and hiking trails... Firepit, permaculture gardens, loaner bikes, community life, view!
Our hut was handbuilt by family, friends, and community with great love and serves as a guesthouse, homeschool hut, sauna and sanctuary. Wood-heated and candle-lit, it's a tranquil, rustic sleeping space. I recommend staying two nights for an immersive experience in the relaxing atmosphere.
We're in St. Johns, Portland's northern-most neighborhood and a small town of its own with a strong community identity here. Many families here trace their roots back to James John, the pioneer founder of St. Johns who is memorialized all over the neighborhood. Downtown St. Johns is a few blocks away, with plenty of restaurants (Thai, vegan, soulfood, chinese, pub grub, pizza, deli, breakfast, coffee & gelato), an old movie theater and shopping (lots of vintage). Cathedral Park, three blocks away, is gorgeous and photogenic with access to the Willamette River and the awesome overhead presence of the gothic St. Johns Bridge that you can see from the hut. We're also close to a lot of natural areas for urban hiking and paddling. Forest Park, full of trails and old growth forest, is right across the bridge. Just north of here is Kelley Point Park, the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers; Smith and Bybee Lakes, a wetlands for birding and paddling; and Sauvie Island, with beaches, farms, nurseries, hiking, fishing, & birding. We're on the Pacific migratory fly-way, so lots of raptor action around here. Bald eagles, peregrine falcons and hawks swoop by regularly.
  • We were greeted by Ivy and C in their lovely backyard with their boys and were offered homebrewed ginger ale from the tap in the outdoor kitchen. It was delicious. We walked to a nearby restaurant, Proper Eats, for dinner and then had a peaceful nights sleep in the MudHut with tea lights on in the evening. Went for a run under Cathedral bridge the next morning and then spent some time with our hosts and their neighbors at their block party. Overall a lovely experience. We hope to be back someday!

    Sarah2015-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was awesome! I spend only one night in this incredible mud hut (you should try to spend more!), but I was overwhelmed from the hut and the surrounding. Ivy is such a pleasant person and perfect host that I immediately felt welcome. This was one of my best bnb stays ever and I wish I could have stayed longer.

    Markus2014-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • The neighborhood was awesome! The listing was exactly as it was described. Ivy was awesome and the mud hut was a MUST for visiting Portland. Probably not for everyone, but it was worth the stay for my wife and I. The water pressure in the shower was better than the 4 star hotel we stayed in upon arrival in Portland. I recommend this to all the adventure - seekers our there that want to be in touch with their primitive side! Thank you Ivy!

    Gary2015-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was a place with warm and fun energy. I really enjoyed spending time with Ivy and her family. The mud hut was a cool experience.

    Kyle And Erica2014-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had fun staying at Ivy's "mud hut". Initially we were planning to arrive earlier in the evening, but work and traffic got in the way, and by the time we got there it was 10pm. Ivy pushed back her plans of going out that evening with her friend who was visiting town so that she could greet us and show us around, which I was very grateful of because I did not have to explore my way finding the hut in the dark. The mud hut is tucked away around the garden, not visible from the street, so we had lots of privacy. Ivy had lit candles for us in the mud hut and we were so ready to just crash for the night after hours of driving and were glad to sleep in such a cute, cozy little space. There is outdoor kitchen for guests to use, raspberries were ripe on the bushes, we enjoyed having a nice view of the bridges, and the overall ambience of the space. We had to hit the road early to drive to California and could not stay long enough to spend more time with Ivy which I would have liked to do, but we look forward to coming back next time we are in Portland and need a place to stay.

    Hiroko2014-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Everything that Ivy did for the stay was well thought out and presented. The place was clean, cute and private. Wood was cut, outdoor kitchen was available and clean, mini lights everywhere at night for going in and out and it was our own little sanctuary. The hosts did not bother us unless we asked or if we ran into them out front. But this is not for the person who wants to be pampered and get out of bed in the morning and walk a few steps to the bathroom. The bathroom is in the house, about 50 feet on a straw walkway, down some steps and into a back room. It is clean and has a great shower. It is what it is - a mud hut with a bed and a wood burning stove. We loved it. The neighborhood is pretty good, except that it is in the industrial part of town - but that didn't bother us one bit. There are also some great restaurants for breakfast and dinner within walking distance. We would highly recommend the mud hut for anyone who is earthy, creativity and not in any need of modern amenities.

This space will make you feel cozy and right at home! A bright and well appointed tiny house located in Northeast Portland. Just steps from some of the best restaurants in all of Portland. The Alberta Arts district is just a few blocks away with cafes, pubs and local shopping. There are unique neighborhood amenities, such as the soaking pool and movie theater at the Kennedy School. For more photos and neighborhood info, visit: @portlandtinyhouse on Instagram.
We put a lot of love into Portland Tiny House. The space includes warm wood flooring, ceramic tiling, modern decor and special vintage touches. The house has a very comfortable Tuft and Needle queen sized bed, bathroom, kitchenette equipped for cooking light meals and cozy counter seating for two. Coffee, tea, fresh eggs and Portland travel guides provided. Need anything else?...just let us know! (2 guests with a small child may sometimes be accommodated)
Guests are a block away from Portland's most popular and notable restaurants: DOC, Beast, Autentica, Dame, Expatriate, Wilder and Yakuza Lounge. The house is within walking distance to the local New Seasons Market and the Alberta Arts District with shops/restaurants/art galleries and the hugely popular Last Thursday monthly arts festival. You certainly won't want to miss all of the wonderful shops and restaurants up on Alberta Street. There are many popular restaurants that often have a line to get in (yes...they are THAT good!) like Pine State Biscuits, Salt and Straw Ice Cream, The Grilled Cheese Grill and the Bollywood Theater. Lots of vegan dining as well: Vita Cafe, Back to Eden Bakery and the Bye and Bye Pub. So many wonderful options, we usually have a hard time deciding what to pick! Just around the corner: Walk a block up to enjoy hand-crafted morning coffee at Extracto or breakfast at Cup & Saucer. Drop in to take a yoga class at The People's Yoga studio. Hunt for fun vintage finds at Red Fox Vintage. Or you can explore the McMenamins Kennedy School: a historic elementary school re-purposed as a hotel (including a movie theater, soaking pool ($5 for a relaxing soak), restaurants and pubs). There are two parks within walking distance from the tiny house, Alberta Park and Fernhill Park. Peninsula Park is also a quick jaunt from the tiny house and it boasts a beautiful, seasonal rose garden that is often less crowded than the well known International Rose Test Garden in the West hills.
  • This was the best Airbnb we've stayed in yet! Charming, clean, exactly as described. It was in a great location - lots of food choices nearby, and easy to get to all parts of Portland. Also the bed was the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in! Would highly recommend this place, and will stay again if we come back to Portland.

  • Genevieve, Duston and Sophie, Thank you for so thoughtfully sharing your tiny house with us. We loved the small touches you've put into your home. It's so apparent that the tiny house is a labor of love. It was the perfect location and near some of the most family friendly restaurants we've been to which definitely made our stay at Portland very enjoyable. The eggs were delicious- you're right it's going to be hard to go back to store bought eggs. Audrey enjoyed the maracas and made her first art work on the etchsketch. Thank you for sharing your lovely home. It was a pleasure meeting you both! We'll definitely keep you folks in mind when we pay another visit to Portland! Thank you! Henry, Shirley and Audrey (11 mos)

  • The tiny house was very comfortable and well located. I was able to walk to a nice grocery store and the Alberta Arts District where there were plenty of eateries and shops. Both were about a half mile out. I was allotted a lot of privacy and met the hosts once. They were nice people and very accommodating when I asked for an early check in. My toddler's nap time was earlier than the check in time. They also were very responsive when I experienced some connectivity issues with the wifi.

    Kim2015-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • The space looks just like it does in all of the photos. The chickens are cute and fun to wake up to in the morning and we had some delicious fresh eggs for breakfast! It was really helpful to have Duston & Genevieve's guides to find cool places to visit while we were in the area. All of their recommendations were really awesome. Also loved the collection of books/Portland guides they have in a little basket in the house. We looked through a bunch of them and really enjoyed those!

    Cecily2017-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house was perfect for a quick weekend trip to Portland. It was gorgeous inside and out and close by to lots of cool bars, shopping, etc. Check in and out was simple and our stay was all around great — highly recommend!

It is Southeast Portland a very popular living area in Portland and close to down town.
  • Roland was an incredibly nice and friendly host! He had a pool in the backyard and I had a nice evening relaxing in the pool after a long day. His place is located SUPER close to Division st. where there is a lot happening. When I was leaving, I had an extremely tight schedule and was not sure if I would make my flight, so Roland was nice enough to drive me there! Really nice person and will definitely stay with him again, next time I'm in Portland.

    Jay2015-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Ronald is a lovely person and made me feel right at home. His property is located in a lovely neighborhood of Portland, a few blocks from several good restaurants (I had a pizza at Cibo that is EXACLY what an Italian pizza is like). The loft is perfectly functional, comfortable, and cozy. It doesn't have a shower but only a Jacuzzi (but Roland said I could used his shower if I wanted). It's provided with a small refrigerator and a microwave. The only "problem" I had was that I could not bring my suitcase because the spiral staircase to the loft was too narrow. Not a big deal; I went up and down a few times to carry upstairs what I needed.

    Clarissa2015-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice accommodation in good neighborhood. The owner has done a great job making a comfortable room for the visitor.

    Steve2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the most amazing stay I had anywhere! Roland was very accommodating and a gracious host, he was never in the way, even with my late check in no issues. The location is very convenient to my needs. Stores, shops, bars, restaurants and public transportation all within walking distance! I could go on about my host, Roland, he told me places to, gave me a little history of Oregon and even took me to the airport for my return flight! Awesome!!!!!

    Michael 2016-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • It's a nice big space with a private bath, both of which are very important. The stairs could be difficult for some, but I did fine. As I stated, there isn't a door on the room and you can see down the spiral stairs to the front door, so it felt a little odd, but my privacy was never compromised. Roland's house caretaker was there, but he was not invasive and helped get the fireplace going for me. Overall it was fine. The neighborhood is nice for walking. There is a Starbucks a nice, but short walk from the house. Good location for getting around to the fun places!

    Sandy2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect. I loved the room and the balcony. The bed was very comfortable and the whirlpool tub was a nice luxury. Mr. Roland was very accommodating. I'd definitely stay here again. Thanks!

    James2016-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Mr. Roland's place is great. It has good accessibility to public transportation, from/to downtown or airport. And the place is big with your own bathroom. Most importantly, Mr. Roland is very nice and hospitable. He communicated with me many times to make sure my arrival is smooth. Highly recommended!

  • We absolutely loved staying at the Wisteria Retreat. It's smack-dab in the middle of THE place to be in Portland for shopping and dining, and having our own private little studio apartment oasis on a street lined with beautiful houses made us feel like one of the locals. Sari was on call for any questions we had and anything we needed - and really, with the full kitchen, a sitting area, the bed, and the bathroom, we were all set. We can't wait to visit again.

Brand spanking new, beautiful, modern addition built on our ranch house.
Our 425 square foot addition is brand new (finished 2015) - immaculately designed, gorgeous and a perfect place to stay during your time in Portland. It has a pellet stove for delightful ambiance (and heating), it's own entrance, a blow-up air mattress (for a third guest) and a patio. Stay in a place completely Portland, powered by solar panels, built environmentally friendly, sitting on a major bike street and a couple blocks from the MAX light rail.
Our house is within 2 miles of the fantastic north and north east neighborhoods of Williams, Mississippi and Alberta. There are dozens of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance and I leave a list of our local favorites in the house.
  • A casa é legal.

  • The Addition was a beautiful retreat with modern restroom and heaters in every room. We absolutely loved our stay and Joseph was very responsive and understanding when we had to extend our stay for a couple hours due to unforeseen circumstances. Would definitely book again!

  • My fiancé and I absolutely loved our stay at The Addition! It was very modern, with a great Portland ambiance. Very clean and comfortable with all of the necessities and a great mini fireplace. Even better than the pictures! We would definitely love to stay here again when we're back in town.

    Saad2016-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was our fourth AirBnB booking, and Joseph's place was one of the nicest. Very pleasant west Portland neighborhood with nearby eateries. The rental is easy to find and conveniently just off I-5. We met Joe and Naomi as we headed out to dinner and they were pleasant, helpful and welcoming. The rental itself is new construction with touches of contemporary decor. Everything is comfortable and clean. There is a pleaant fenced patio and picnic table for pleasant evenings outside. You couldn't ask for more. We stayed prior to a flight to Denver for a family medical emergency. Given the circumstances, Joe and Naomi's rental was a welcome refuge and greatly appreciated. We hope to return.

  • This was our first airbnb experience and it was awesome! It was such a great location to be walking distance from a whole area of great bars and restaraunts and biking/driving distance from downtown. The pictures don't do this place justice, you can really tell the effort put in to make this place look great (: We loved that there were a ton of board games to play (especially forbidden island which is a favorite of ours) and loved loved loved the pellet stove. I liked that it felt very private like our own little space and that we could come and go without disturbing anyone since it was separate from the main house. Our first time in Portland was a so great and was especially wonderful because of being able to stay here! Will definitely look forward to coming back someday (:

  • Wonderful weekend getaway! My husband and I spent a Saturday night here and loved it. The apartment was spacious, clean and had everything we needed for our time there. It is just a couple blocks from some great restaurants and shops, yet the apartment itself was very quiet and peaceful. Chuck and Annika were great hosts, providing a great resource book with detailed lists of local restaurants and activities and making themselves readily available for questions. (Although they were so well organized, we didn't have any.) We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again!

    Leilani2015-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Got in contact with the host before hand and let them know we were coming a bit later than expected. They were nice and understanding. A lot of stuff was walking distance which was nice. Post was very accurate, they had a beautiful space!

    Jeff2016-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • It exceeded my expectations — very beautiful and comfortable, and our hosts prepared it with thoughtful details. Good location too. I definitely want to stay with Chuck and Annika again the next time I'm in Portland!

    Mei2015-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck and Annika were excellent hosts from the moment I booked it! They were very helpful with recommendations and have put together a detailed and comprehensive guidebook that was a huge help with finding fun things to do and good places to eat. The listing was even better than described. The neighborhood is fantastic with some of the best restaurants in Portland just a few minute walk away. Very easy street parking for those bringing cars.

    Frank2015-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location and tastefully decorated and very clean.

    Patty2017-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place in a great part or Portland! Chuck and Annika provided everything we could have wanted and were very responsive at all times. Can't wait to visit again!

    Garo2017-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck and Annika's place was beautifully furnished. It met all of our criteria for a pleasurable stay. Local restaurants and bars literally a block away, and an easy distance from Reed College which was the reason for our stay. I highly recommend.

    RJ2017-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • I didn't ever manage to meet Chuck and Annika, but they answered any questions I had promptly by email. Their house and the apartment were very nice, very comfortable and very clean. The only disadvantage is the narrow stairwell going down into the apartment...if you have difficulty with stairs, these are small steps with not a lot of negotiating room. They do have a handrail and good lighting however. The location is fantastic! 15 minutes to downtown, walking distance to many shops and restaurants, including the famous ice cream place, Salt and Straw (delicious!). The neighborhood is lovely and I felt very safe as a single woman.

  • We spent our honeymoon here and it was amazing. The location is great and the house itself is home away from home.

    Jordan2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Heidi and Marenda's beautiful loft! Their place had everything that we could have needed and more to enjoy our relaxing two night stay in Portland. The neighbourhood was quite which was nice, and not too far from downtown Portland. The listing description was very accurate, and we would definitly recommend this place to others looking for a quite retreat in the Portland area.

    Jahtania2016-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi and Marenda's home was everything I hoped it would be and more! Thank you so much for letting us use your space!

    Kelly2015-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a gorgeous loft that Heidi and Marenda have built to share. This was by far one of THE best places I've stayed on vacation. It was so warm and welcoming down to the last detail. Wished I could have stayed longer. If you get a chance to stop on by for even one night I highly recommend booking a stay here. Thanks again ladies! Hoping next time I make my way out to PDX I'll stay here again and get a chance to meet you.

    Lauryn2016-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Heidi and Marenda's place was spectacular. This is the kind of space that makes you want to use Airbnb forever - hotels just don't cut it after staying in a place like this. The loft was open and spacious, yet still felt very cozy. All of the unique touches made me feel like I was actually staying in a home, and not just a rent-a-space. This place is beautifully crafted; abundant natural light throughout, warm reclaimed woods, quirky light fixtures, books and original art, were just a few of the touches that helped lend to the feel of it being a "home", and not just a room with a bed. They thought of everything - even down to the dish in the bathroom to hold your jewelry. The neighborhood was great too...far enough away from downtown to feel like a retreat, and yet close enough to get to in 10 minutes. I will definitely be recommending this place to friends who stay in Portland!

    Whitney2016-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi and Marenda's place was the perfect weekend getaway! It looks exactly as pictured and was so cozy and relaxing. I couldn't believe how quiet the neighborhood was for what a quick drive it was to get downtown! We admired the design of the loft the whole time and appreciated all the thoughtful touches. We would definitely stay here again and will be recommending it to friends!

    Karin2016-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi and Marenda's loft was everything that you see in the pictures: clean, modern, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The location was in a quiet neighborhood that was a quick 15-25 minute drive from most places we went. Heidi and Marenda were very responsive, and made great recommendations for our day trip through the Columbia River Gorge. I highly recommend this place for your trip to Portland!

    Emily2015-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect stay in this exceptional space. The hosts were very friendly, communicated easily and were thoughtful in having a few breakfast basics on hand to go with coffee. This thoughtful house is just the right mix of spare and comfortable to make it easy to relax in.

NEW MURPHY BED with comfy mattress! Great little tiny house in a fantastic neighborhood. It is cozy and modern, with a great layout. It's a tiny, stand alone house with a private bathroom. Short Term Rental Permit Numb (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) -HO
Brand new, tiny-home style house. 200 sq ft. Covered porch. Full bath with standing tile shower. Full-size wall bed "Murphy bed" installed December 2015. Bamboo floors & reclaimed wood stairs. No kitchen, but has a microwave for heating up leftovers, water, or popcorn. Wifi. This is one block off Mississippi Ave, with many bars, restaurants, and one of the best coffee shops (Fresh Pot) in Portland. A block away from Amnesia Brewing and Grand Central bakery. 10 minute walk from the Yellow Line MAX (Overlook station.) Mississippi Studios is right down the street- a fantastic venue for local and traveling bands.
  • This space (The Little Green House) matched our needs, which was a quick one-night stay, mostly just to sleep, for our party of two. We slept very comfortably on the bed. It's one room, which I didn't quite understand from the pictures, and the bed is a pull-down from a standing cabinet, into the room. Unlike some AirB&Bs we've stayed at, there were no "extra touches" to personalize the stay or welcome guests - it's very minimal. However it's also a great price for a very awesome location and has all the essentials.

    Anne2016-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Rick's place in Portland was awesome. The house was small, but perfect for a short stay. It was very clean and cozy. Also, the location was perfect. It was right next to Historic Mississippi, which is a super funky area. Staying one block away from this street really helped us fall in love with Portland. We would stay at Rick's again!

    Keri2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience at the tiny house off Mississippi was fantastic. The location can't be beat and while the place is small, it is very comfortable. Rick had great communication and was able to get a reservation confirmed quickly. The wifi was awesome and having an electronic keypad was a huge convenience. The place was clean and well decorated. If you plan to eat at any one of the amazing restaurants nearby, you won't miss the lack of a full kitchen- I know I didn't. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat and plan to stay again.

    Colleen2015-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the location of the house.. Lots to do and see within walking distance! There is just a pull out sofa but for a short stay in Portland the location can't be beat! Rick was a great host, super responsive, easy to get in touch with, and flexible. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to stay near Mississippi.

    Elizabeth2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable house. Close walk to a great coffee shop called Muddy's. Have breakfast there! The house was cute, green, and clean. The bed was so comfortable I've thought how much I'd like to sleep in it again. Small mix up with the code. I had to ask for it by e-mail and when we got there, it didn't work. It's okay. I made a phone call and got a code that worked. I'd definitely stay here again.

    Sarah2013-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was rented for a very apprehensive dad (61 yr old). He loved it, by the time we left he said he would miss it and he referred to it as home. The first time to loft, he did slightly rub ceiling, even after our warning, but then had no problems with ladder. The walk to the bakery down the street was awesome and all the choices in the neighborhood were appreciated. In the day and early evening you could hear people outside, but later you didn't hear anything to bother your rest. Parking was a little tight during peak business hours but not too bad. It was clean, quiet and relaxing and he learned it was really nice without a tv. He borrowed some tea from the pink house to cap off his nights. The lock was sticking and I sent a text to Rick, but didn't get a response so I called (i may have been in a panic since dad was over my shoulder) and he explained the solution, worked like a charm. I also informed him that the porch lights were out and they were replaced the next day, he was very gracious. Thank you.

    michele2014-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cute lil place next to a nice strip of bars and shopping. Super close to DT Portland. I would suggest this to everyone. Except old people that can't climb a steep set of stairs to the loft bed.

    Johnny2014-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Green house was adorable! The location was prime and Rick was great. He communicated with me the whole time and made sure I had everything I needed before check-in. I would definitely book it again.

My house is close to light rail and bus lines in a quiet and secure area. Many restaurants, coffee houses and bars are within walking distance and there is a large grocery store nearby in case you need provisions. There are parks within walking distance as is the Adidas campus. My place is good for solo adventurers and business travelers. There is another bedroom that can sleep two and I have an air mattress available.
Private home with 2 bedrooms in the upstairs of the house. Fully equipped kitchen with a laundry room. The stove is gas so please ask for instructions on how it works before using. The back yard is shady and there is a patio with a fireplace. The neighborhood is very quiet and easy to walk around in.
There are quite a few very good restaurants with in walking distance of the house with a sprinkling of coffee houses and bars. Well lit and quiet there are also a couple of parks with in a few blocks. Also a great grocery store is near by.
  • Shelia's place was fantastic! I could not have asked for a better value for what I got. Shelia is an amazing host, very down to earth and super accommodating. Though the house is not centrally located, Portland has great public transit, with a bus stop right by the house and a light rail stop within a 5-10 minute walk, both can get you downtown in around 20-30 minutes max. The airport is about an hour by public transit from the house. This is my third Airbnb and was by far the best. I would definitely recommend Shelia and when I return, will definitely stay again.

    Alex2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific value. Clean, cozy, comfortable at a great price. Some interesting spots to eat and drink nearby. I'd definitely return.

  • Sheilah's home is stunning, comfortable and close to downtown. About a 20 minute walk to the heart of downtown, close restaurants and bars but also a very quiet neighborhood. The house was very clean and she supplies everything I would need (shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer etc) and these are things I don't like to travel with. Sheilah was very respectable and polite during my stay. Would recommend to anyone on business or a personal trip. Thank you Sheilah!

    Nicolette2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Sheilah is a wonderful host! The room is spacious and the home is beautifully decorated. I would definitely stay again :)

    Tiffany2016-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very value place to what you pay !

    Donny2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • The room is even better in person. It is new construction, as well as the bathroom, so it all feels very clean. The room’s temperature is controlled separately by you as well. Very quiet, which was good, since I was on a work trip. Sheila is a terrific host. Her lodging style reminded me of traveling in Europe, staying on a small budget at family owned hostels and public houses. Nice and welcome. I felt safe and comfortable too, which is important to me, because I was traveling alone. Public transportation was very easy. The train is close, runs often and it’s very clean. The neighborhood feels safe in the morning and also in the evening. When I did use Uber and Lyft, it came to the house within 5 minutes. Downtown is a ten minute ride away.

    Heather2017-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This house is in a very cute neighborhood and easy to get public transport to go downtown. I very much enjoyed staying here.

Our studio guest house comfortably sleeps two and features a mini kitchen and private bath. Walk through the garden to your private entrance. Curl up by the fire and enjoy one of the art books from our library. Walk to nearby Alberta Arts District.
With two small children at home, we have found little time to paint in the second floor of the studio building at the rear of our property. Come and enjoy this lovely space! It features high ceilings, ample light, a wood stove (with back-up electric heat), views of the surrounding gardens, a large table and a drafting table to spread out and work on, and an art book library. The kitchenette is equipped with a sink, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and electric kettle. It does not have a cook top or oven or toaster. We provide coffee and tea. The bathroom features a shower stall and an eco-toilet that collects water from hand washing to use on the next flush. With summer temperatures rising, we recently added an AC window unit for our guests comfort. We offer a full bed with a seven inch Ikea spring mattress and a two inch memory-foam topper. Our guests report that the room is surprisingly quiet at night. Please note we do not have a TV; however, our wifi is fast enough to watch movies or shows on your personal device.
I love this place. This is a residential neighborhood with a wide cross section of racial and economic diversity, a lot of the old 'hood funkiness still intact, plus newer hipster creativity and some higher-end business activity. Expect to see a mix of dilapidated buildings and newer or rejuvenated construction. We feel safe at night, however I do advise women to be wary about walking alone at night, particularly if you don't have much street smarts. We are within easy walking distance of Alberta Street Co-op, coffee shops, restaurants, bars and other businesses. The post office, laundromat, Safeway and Walgreens are very close by as well.
  • From the moment we arrived we knew this was a special place. As we walked up the driveway, we were greeted our warm hearted host, Nell. What a wonderful living space they have created. So many little details but it all flows so beautifully with the the abundant natural light. We slept very well and loved everything about this artists studio. It appeals to all the senses!

  • Great spot. Instructions were spot on. Very clean. Cozy and clean

    Jimmy2016-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely space in a great neighborhood. It was quiet and comfortable. I loved the artist corner and gazing out the windows at all the fruit trees. For meals, I walked to Alberta Ave. and had plenty of really good options to choose from. I didn't meet Nell, but she was responsive via the Airbnb messenger. Checking in and out was easy with her key code system. I'd definitely recommend this apartment.

    Emily2015-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, lovely, cozy and sweet! I feel so grateful that I chose this place, and it was open. My two nights were both chilly enough to have a small fire, and the studio is incredibly inviting. NO issues whatsoever -- just a gorgeous space, comfy bed, super-private entry, and joy to be there. The studio is at the top of an indoor staircase, so if your bag's heavy you'll get a little workout. : )

    Erika2015-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean, beautiful space. It was very comfortable, private and quiet. Public transportation was in walking distance. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

    Andrea2015-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • This home was amazing. Nell greeted us with her adorable family and then stayed to herself for the rest of our visit. We felt welcome and at home here. The studio doubles as a painting studio with homemade crafts, which made it extra cozy. Nell is very accommodating and easy to get in touch with. We will definitely be back. Would recommend to anyone!

  • Rick was great about communication. I had asked for a iron and ironing board and he brought it to us when we were there. We checked in a little earlier than we should have, and he was wonderful about us being there early. The neighborhood is so perfect. Mississippi street is one block away and has plenty of restaurants and bars.. we spent alot of time there.. i highly recommend a yummy Mexican joint called por que no? One of the best Mexican restaurants we found... the house itself Is adorable.. it's very small, but very cozy.. it was perfect for my friend and I. It might be a little too crowded for a party more than 2.. i highly would recommend the cure pink house, and if I was to come to Portland again, I would definitely stay there again!

  • Rick and his pink house were amazing! Although I did not meet Rick, his communication was prompt and precise. Very easy. His place was easy to find and exactly as advertised. I stayed one night and it was perfect for what I needed. To note, and as described in the listing: there is not a full kitchen. There is a microwave and mini fridge. There is not a TV. It is small, about 300 square feet. If this doesn't work for you, then just know that ahead of time. It worked very well for me and I got what I expected. Rick's place is all updated, with great finishes. The bathroom is super nice and spacious. There is a couch and then the loft bedroom. The loft was very comfy. It was a hot day, and there was a fan system that cooled the place down. The neighborhood is great with many bars nearby as well as a great breakfast place. All within a 5 min walk. I had such a great experience! 5 stars!

Experience the best Portland has to offer from a private studio in a lush, backyard garden. Our beautiful, eco-home on a quiet street is conveniently located in Southeast Portland's best and most walkable neighborhood.
Chosen as one of Portland's 10 best Airbnb rentals by Portland Monthly Magazine, it's hard to find a better deal. Tucked between Hawthorne and Division, you’ll have easy access to award-winning restaurants, movie theaters, coffee shops, parks, and so much more. Our 1909 built home is clean, tranquil, and truly unique. Previously featured on Portland's Build it Green home tour. The one-room light-filled studio is perfect for a single or couple. It has a comfortable full-sized bed with nice linens, a small table and chairs, coat and luggage racks (there is no closet), and a place to sit and read while you enjoy complimentary tea and coffee. Whatever season you are visiting Portland in, you will find the studio to be quite comfortable. It stays nice and cool in the warmer months with a ceiling fan, and the convection heater keeps it warm in the winter. Beautiful photography, by a local artist, graces the walls.
  • Joelle and James were awesome hosts for the few days staying at their place. They had these baked treats that I happily scoffed down when I arrived and even asked for my dietary restrictions before I arrived to make sure their treats were okay. The studio was pretty amazing (they don't do these things back home!) with plenty of privacy and it was pretty cool just relaxing on the bed reading while looking out at that garden. It was easy to get around to the places I wanted to go as public transport was close by. James even had Vegemite and offered me some which was amazing! I would most definitely stay with them again (and hopefully for longer next time).

  • Joelle and James were the perfect hosts and the Garden Studio was nothing short of magical. Communication prior to arrival and during our stay was perfect. The studio was equipped with everything we needed (including robes and slippers!), and the large windows provided a beautiful view out into the garden. The location is perfect - close to Hawthorne and Division but tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Did I mention the large bathtub? Heavenly. Oh, and how can I forget the oat bars? Delicious. We can't thank you enough...Hope our paths cross again soon.

  • James and Joelle are wonderful hosts and were more than happy to share their knowledge of Portland. The Urban Garden Studio is beautifully situated in their backyard, and is extremely cozy. I'd strongly recommend this location to anyone who wants a unique experience in Portland, OR!

    Daniel2016-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cute little studio and the hosts have really attended to every detail -- from the slippers and robe to the Iphone charger in the room. Very nice of them also to make a nice breakfast treat for me and keep in mind my food allergies. It's also a great neighborhood. I was expecting the good restaurants -- which seem to be everywhere in Portland -- but the lush trees and flowering bushes were a great surprise.

    Janet2015-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay in Joelle and James' studio. So cozy, and they truly had thought of everything we could need. From an umbrella to cozy slippers and bathrobes to freshly baked goods, they thought of things both practical and sweet and had them ready. Their soaking tub is lovely, their kitchen a dream to cook in, and their cats a source of entertainment all on their own. We would love to stay here again and heartily recommend it to anyone and everyone!

  • This was our first time in Portland and it was everything I could've hoped for. Joelle was very hospitable, leaving a fresh batch of raspberry bars for us upon arrival. The studio was amazing! Walking distance to the shops and restaurants on Hawthorne, and an easy bike ride to just about everywhere else. Highly recommend!

    Jarrett2014-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay!

    Emily2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Joelle and James are exceptional hosts. The garden cottage is charming and beautifully laid out. The bed is super comfy, lovely sheets and towels. The home is on a quiet street with a tranquil garden. We enjoyed coffee outside and Joelle’s baked treats. In the midst of a busy family weekend, this cottage was a quiet refuge.

  • Melissa's place has it all! The basement apartment is quiet, clean, and super stylish. It's nearby the lively Alberta street, which has lots of cute shops and restaurants. Downtown Portland is a short drive away, and we found it really easy to navigate all over Portland from the apartment. Melissa was a joy to communicate with and made check-in and check-out a breeze. I hope to stay here again the next time I'm in Portland.

  • Superfijn appartement, eigenaresse is erg vriendelijk en heeft ons tips gegeven, eitjes en locale biertjes in de koelkast achtergelaten en vriendelijk ontvangen. Studio met grote keuken, helemaal nieuw en schoon. Leuke locatie. Top!

    Merel2018-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. The apartment is so cute and had everything we needed.

    Jessica2018-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • This AirBnB was great- it was so cute, clean, and Melissa even set out some tea and granola bars for us. There were also lots of great places to eat near by (thanks to suggestions from Melissa and previous guests) and the neighborhood was very quaint. We left fairly early the next morning, but Melissa still made an effort to come out and talk to us, ask how our stay was, etc. which was so nice of her. Plus we got to meet her adorable dog which was an added bonus. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    Sarah2018-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean suite, has a beautiful kitchen with full stove, fridge, coffee machine (and great beans as well). Melissa was kind enough to leave cream and butter for us in the fridge. There was a pot and pan for us to cook and tin foil and oven ware to bake items as well. Would def stay here again if in the area.

    Courtney2018-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as the pictures show. Very clean. Good location. Melissa even leaves a few goodies in the fridge for guests to enjoy.

    Jennifer2017-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Super nice and affordable. Very romantic and perfect. The Alberta district is perfect for a couple. If it’s available, book it now. You will not regret!

  • This AirBnB was an amazing location to stay at. Definitely a closer location to a lot of the hikes in Portland and had the added benefit of being close to popular food locations. Pok Pok and Nongs were super close.

  • Our family had the pleasure of staying a night at this awesome place, and wished we could have stayed much longer! It was exceptionally clean and organized.. and let's not forget, FUNKY. The location of the place is great and in a very nice part of town. The first thing I should mention is the bed. It was, quite possibly, the most comfortable I've ever slept, I kid you not. It (very) comfortably slept my husband and I, while our two young kids shared the other bed in the little side nook-room. We were glad that they were sleeping tucked away around the corner so we could catch up on some computer time without disturbing their sleep. And they were super happy to wake up in that little room! I loved that it was like it's own separate apartment upstairs. The layout was very spacious and comfortable. And you just have to love the way the place is decorated. Wish I had a little extra time to sit and look at some of the books and magazines on the shelf (and maybe take a nap on that bed!). Paul was a great host and really fun to talk to. If we weren't needing to get the kids in bed, we might have kept him up much later with our conversation. He made sure that the a/c and fans were on up there, before we arrived, so It was a nice cool temperature for a summer night. We used the wifi, coffee maker, fridge, and dishes provided and really felt like we had everything we needed for our stay, and then some. The bathroom and shower were great, and super clean too. I look forward to staying there again, the next time we are in Portland. We 3 the Funky Pad Suite!

    Jana2013-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had a great stay at Paul & Carolyn's 'Funky Pad' in Portland. Paul is a very welcoming and genial host, always ready with recommendations to make your stay more special. The Pad is exactly like the photos, in a nice location, opposite a park, a short walk to shops, light rail, and the Hollywood theater. The Pad loft is a very private, warm space to relax in and 'feel at home'.

    Myeka2014-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was a very gracious host and communicated very well. The room was better than expected and I wish every place I stayed in was this nice. The neighborhood is cute and very near a fun arts area but also convenient to downtown.

    Jerry2014-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Just spent the weekend at Paul's Funky Pad and I have to say everything was exactly as described. The Funky Pad was super comfy and clean. The place is also perfectly situated. And most importantly, my tiny yorkie enjoyed his stay immensely! He didn't want to leave the comfy bed on our last day :) Overall, I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again in the future.

    Ruth2015-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Funky Pad was an awesome place to stay at. It wasn't more than a short car ride away from all the places my friends and I wanted to check out in Portland. Most importantly there was never an issue with parking, which made our trip stress free. Paul was a great host and made sure we were comfortable during our stay. Portland is an amazing city and we'll definitely be coming back and staying at the Funky Pad.

    Tiffany2015-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and great host!

    Elliot2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cute upstairs apartment in Paul's house. You do have to walk through the front door of his house to go in but, although he was available if needed, we only saw a Paul once when he initially greeted us. It is comfortable and equipped with everything you might need and had extra touches like oatmeal for breakfast and fresh milk for coffee. We were mostly spending time downtown so it was not really walkable but Lyft and Uber were readily available for about $7-$8 to downtown. This apartment is well-cared for and clean and I personally love the funky decorations. The bathroom is bright and clean and there is plenty of reading material in the apartment regarding local restaurants etc.

  • Location was great and the studio was adorable! Brad did a great job with directions. Thank you.

    Lena2016-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in this location because it was away from the busier part of town but it was also very quick to walk over the bridge and into the main part of town. We walked everywhere from this location and only took the train to and from the airport. It was great that the Max Line was so close to the apartment too because we had suitcases. The studio is decorated SO cute-just like the pictures- and is very clean. It was much more enjoyable than being in a hotel room. Throughout the trip, we would email Brad certain questions since we had never been to Portland before and he was very quick to respond! I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Portland and would love to stay here again if I get the opportunity to go back.

    Megan2015-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Brad was great to deal with, always quick to respond. The apartment is very clean and nicely decorated. Good central location within easy walking distance to many shops, restaurants, etc. Unfortunately our car was broken in to on the street, parked a block from the building. If you are driving beware of this, the area does not feel safe for cars overnight (although feels perfectly safe to walk around). Without a car, I would highly recommend this apartment for its central location and a lovely, comfortable stay!

    Jessica2017-01-31T00:00:00Z

Our small (8X12) free-standing studio is light-filled, private and tucked away under the trees. With a comfortable queen-sized bed, microwave, mini-fridge electric kettle and table, you will be cozy here! Please note: The Tiny House does not have its own bathroom. Guests use a shared bathroom just inside the back door of our house (our family has a primary bathroom upstairs, but we use the downstairs bath occasionally. We keep it clean and use it minimally when guests are in the tiny house).
Our tiny house is a delightful retreat. While you do share a bathroom in the house, this outdoor studio will offer you great privacy. The tiny house is set up for you to be able to sleep and make coffee/tea and microwavable meals. There is a mini-fridge for your perishable foods, and microwave and electric kettle. There is a table which you can use for dining and also as your desk. Enjoy sipping a cup of locally roasted coffee (beans provided!) while you enjoy the peaceful trees in our 2/3 acre yard. Our backyard also has a large "pump track" that Joel made, as an enthusiastic mountain biker. Feel free to bring your mountain bikes and ride it! The tiny house is very small so we do not store many things in there, but we do have additional amenities available, including: extra pillows and blankets, extra fans and space heaters, hair dryer, curling iron, clothing iron, yoga mat, extra towels, kitchen utensils, tupperware and more. If there is something you need, just let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate! Please Note: There is no kitchen or plumbing in the tiny house-it is small studio. It works best for guests who plan to eat out or prepare very simple foods with the microwave and mini fridge. We are happy to provide extra plates, silverware, etc. and if you need to wash a dish or two, just let us know and you can pop into our kitchen.
We live in Portland's Lents neighborhood, which is ethnically diverse and not yet gentrified. We are close to some lovely local nature preserves, including Leach Botanical Gardens and Powell Butte. We are also close to freeways, airport, parks and public transit. Please note: We are about 10 miles from downtown Portland and about 3-5 miles from the "hip" neighborhoods in SE Portland that have a lot of walkable attractions. If you have a car it is pretty easy to get around from here, but this is not the ideal neighborhood if you are hoping to walk to Portland's best spots without driving or taking the bus. You can walk to Safeway, Walgreens, and the closest bus stop very easily from here.
  • Kate and Joel went out of their way for our comfort, addressing our small concerns immediately and with grace. The Tiny House was tiny, but cozy, comfortable and quiet. The area is quiet, outside the central Portland area, but within an easy walk to a bus.

    Richie2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • My 1-week stay at Kate and Joel's Tiny House was awesome! Kate and Joel were warm and friendly and the tiny house was bright, beautiful and perfectly equipped with table, mini fridge, and microwave for a longer stay like mine. It was amazing to come home after a long day of studying in my graduate program to this little urban oasis. I found the neighborhood quiet and peaceful, especially given its close proximity to stores, restaurants, etc. Easy commute to and from the city center. This is my top pic for future stays in Portland!

    Jen2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I were able to stay at the "Tiny House" last minute during our visit to Portland. I thought that the location was convenient and they were very accommodating even with our late arrival. Also, they were very inviting and understanding and let us use their iron for our clothes. Joel was helpful and friendly and I liked the list of Portland recommendations that they left for us in the house. We ended up going to the soaking pool as suggested. Great visit, friendly host. Photos and descriptions were true to what was supplied. One more thing, LOVED the coffee and coffee book :)

    Ashley T2016-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house is super cute and comfortable!

    Mary2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Small cosy space, clean and functional. Nice to be separate from the main house, good value. Although on a residential street, for me the traffic noise from main road was an issue but highly recommend if that is something others can overlook as its a cool little house.

    MaRa2015-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice host ; and helpful. The place was as stated . Very cozy and comfortable. The bathroom was in the main house so it was a little inconvinent to go at night but otherwise the tiny house was perfect. It would be helpful to have a place to hang a towel or a shirt in the room. The location was very good too. I will definitely consider using this host again. And of course it was very affordable.

Think of a hostess who was born for this. Multiply by 10. The attention that greeted us at the door, the information she gave us about public transport on trips, about where to dine, where to rent a car for a good price and even where the gasoline was cheaper,They were precious. Cleaning the house, the good smell of a well-kept house, access to all the kitchen paraphernalia, even when cooked tapioca one for her, made us feel a pleasant like "I'm home." Could translate that stay in one word: Amazing. It seemed that we had already known of other lives. Thank you very much, Alleyn. We enjoyed even of you. I recommend to everyone as one of the best places to stay in Portland.

Absolutely loved staying here. What a gem. A truly unique experience in a perfect neighborhood by which to experience Portland. Will definitely stay here again whenever I make it back to PDX. David is super friendly and informative and happy to give tips on places to go around town and places to walk to eat and drink in the neighborhood.
