  • Amazing house in a unique area of Portland. Lance was a great host and I would recommend his place for a quite getaway. The view is breath taking from the tree house too.

  • My brother and I decided to make a trip to Portland/Seattle for a fun vacation, and the opportunity to see the other side of the country. Lance's home did not disappoint. We have been in Portland a few days now and the view from the treehouse is the absolute BEST in the city. We spent our first night there and it was a breathtaking way to begin our trip- and see all of Portland before diving into the city. Lance was an awesome host, great to converse with, and had the sweetest cat you will ever meet (this is coming from a dog person). We had such a wonderful time and are looking forward to visiting again soon!

  • The treehouse is a very unique place to stay, and has great views of downtown Portland. Lance is a very nice host and communicates well.

  • This treehouse is truly all its cracked up to be. It has spoiled me, and it will be vwry hard to stay in a less cool airbnb now. The gorgeous Devon Rex cat snuggled with us all night, and we were in heaven, high above the treetops!

    Rachel2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lance's place is absolutely amazing! Gorgeous view, stylish decor, unique architecture, and lots of little touches (like a couple wine glasses and a corkscrew in the guest room) that really make it a wonderful place to stay. Lance is also incredibly friendly and fun to talk to!

    Alex2018-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place is gorgeous! The view does not disappoint. The drive to the house is curvy and full of luscious trees. It's close to parks, hiking trails, and downtown Portland. Lance greeted us upon our arrival and was helpful with unloading our luggage. Our party ended up being larger than anticipated, so we relocated to another place. This is a great spot for a couple's get away or two friends sharing the view of the world together!

    Ashton2015-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home in a beautiful neighborhood. Lance was very welcoming.

    Trisha2015-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter and I had a great time staying at Lance's treehouse. Wish we could spend more time there. We will definitely come back to stay in the treehouse when we return to Portland next time.

Unique hand built cob cottage next to lg. pond w water feature. Lg. fenced and gated yard. Gentle, curving space-made from sand, straw, water and earth . Featured in multiple international publications. The floor is also earthen clay with added radiant heat. Beautiful natural light. It's truly a magical place.
It's a curvilinear earthen structure hand sculpted from water, sand, straw, and clay earth. It features a radial roof with a central pagoda-like skylight. When building the Cob, we used reclaimed and natural materials when ever possible. The insulation in the ceiling is made from pulverized reclaimed blue jeans and the floor is made from the same earthen clay. It has a Dutch door, so you can open the top part for additional ventilation. It also has air conditioning available in the warmer months and a radiant heat floor. The bed is a very comfortable double with a memory foam mattress topper. The bathroom for the cottage is in the main house, about 40 steps to the back door. Inside you’ll find a large sitting room and full kitchen as well as your bath with claw foot tub and shower. These spaces are shared with 2 Airbnb rooms in the house. If you find the bath busy, our full bath is available upstairs on the second floor.
We are located in a sweet older neighborhood in inner SE Portland, built around the turn of the century. The neighborhood is extremely walkable/bikeable, and just two blocks from one of Portland's great restaurant rows, filled with unique locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, food carts, pot shops, ice cream vendors, pizza joints, clothing retailers, yoga studios and yes, even an old-school hardware store.
  • The cob cottage is a beautiful oasis in a perfect neighborhood with plenty of great food in walking or biking distance! Wake up to a beautiful backyard garden with a small koi pond and a bamboo forest in the city of roses and don't think twice about it. The bed is incredibly comfortable and the hosts are more than gracious. I would recommend this home anybody visiting or even living in Portland for a delightful escape!

  • This home was in a perfect location! It was very peaceful at night and the bed is awesome. Great place to stay!

    Jelena2017-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the cob cottage! Surprisingly warm for the middle of winter, too. Easy to access kitchen and bathroom, and the cats were cute and friendly too. :) Highly recommend.

  • What a little gem. This cottage is close to Division Street ( a few blocks walking distance). Lots of eateries, shops, and places to have a beer. You can also take the bus into downtown. Great neighborhood. Had a pleasant stay.

    Yolanda2018-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • It was the perfect sweet romantic get-away for my girlfriend and I, we flew in just for one night and we were welcomed by the sweetest little space. It's perfect for someone traveling solo or with a partner. Quick trip into the city or plenty of great places to eat within walking distance. We'll be back!

    Alyssa2017-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property, walking distance to great restaurants, yoga, Thai massage, and probably anything else to might want to do. The space was beautiful, with artistic touches everywhere you look.

    Jennifer2018-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a cool and unique place to stay. Plus, it's within walking distance to a lot of shops and restaurants!

    Loren2017-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jack and Chris made it easy to slip in without a greeting interaction, which can be welcome if you arrive weary and just want to settle in, so I didn't meet them until morning. We had an engageing conversation comparing notes about changes in Portland over the past 25 years, and they're really nice and my kinds of folks. The listing focuses on the Cob Cottage, which is an obviously unique highlight and for which I can't add much to the listing description. But the included small sitting room adjacent to the bathroom accessed through the back door of the main house is at least as nice an accommodation, with mini fridge, microwave, and coffee/tea service and a comfortable and attractive place to sit and read the morning paper or whatever. The grounds and sitting room/bathroom part of the house are just the kind of post-hippy funky chic that anyone signing up for a cob cottage will appreciate. The garden is welcoming and rife with nice personal touches. Good feng shui and general vibes. I sat by the string light-illuminated pond late at night doing right by a pint of strawberry-honey-balsamic-black pepper ice cream from Salt and Straw (nearby, hint: save yourself the 45-minute wait to get a cone, go to the front of the line, grab any flavor pint that sounds interesting out of the cooler, pay and go enjoy), and it was quietly wonderful. You're just over a block from a vibrant 15-block section of Division with LOTS of activity, restaurants, a food truck block, etc. but it's completely peaceful and quiet at the cottage. If you've been in the 15th-30th street area of Alberta Street, it's a very similar area, maybe a little less funky but barely. I had to reserve at the last minute from what was available, or I probably wouldn't have ended up at a place with the bathroom in a separate building, as a personal preference and in deference to my aging bladder. But that may have been good luck in disguise, because otherwise I would have missed everything else great about the place, and especially that it looks like they have an interior bed they rent as well. I will definitely be looking for that one the next time I'm back in the area, and joining Jack and Chris again if possible. Almost forgot - the wifi speeds were terrific!

This wonderful, private little gem is just a few easy walking blocks from plentiful drinking, dining, dispensing, yoga & coffee spots. You will be one block from Woodlawn Park, 2 blocks from a bus and a 5 minute drive from the Alberta Shopping and Arts District. It's all so comfortably close by, but not close enough to disturb your relaxing, sweet retreat. Come have it all while living small in this tiny, artsy home away from home!
This space was built as a Model T Garage in 1926 behind a 1915 bungalow but it has had a face lift and has taken on a new life as a cozy, warm freestanding studio made mostly from reclaimed materials. A "tiny house" if you will, sweetly positioned between fruit trees and a garden sitting area. The sleeping loft comfortably sleeps two and there is a futon below the loft where one can enjoy a book while the other naps above. Occasionally you will hear the trains in the distance which adds a touch of nostalgia and you get to wake to the relaxing clucking and cooing of the neighborhood hens as this area has a nice spattering of urban farms and lots of mature trees. For your comfort, this as a "pet dander free" space. No pets, thanks. The table pictured here has been replaced with a "garden shed" counter that houses a small, removable basin sink. There is also a rustic, rough hewn armoire to hang clothes and tuck away your backpacks. The little kitchenette corner is stocked with utensils, a two burner cooktop, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee and a coffee press. The studio's setup is more akin to a cabin, and as many cabins go, there is no bathroom. You will be given a key to the main house so please feel comfortable enough to come in and use the facilities. By the way, it is insulated, well heated, and stocked with plenty of blankets so it is a wonderful, warm hideaway in the fall and winter months as well. Yep, snuggly wifi too. The yard is plentiful with flowers and fruit bearing trees (figs and delicious yellow plums) in the summertime, as well as an array of veggies in the gardens where you can sit amongst the trees and regroup after a hard day at Powells Books. It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine: -Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service -Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching -Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game -Grand Army Tavern, have some pork with your...pork : ) -Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back & late night too -P's & Q's Market serves yummy meals and a few grocery items -The Village Ballroom, for Square Dance and Special events -Uptown Cycles, sales and repairs -Portland Girl, spa day anyone? -Greener Grasses, well-rated dispensary -Koken Market, for almost any beer you want, snacks -Café Eleven, art, coffee, lunch & some pastries -Oregon Public House, the nation's 1st nonprofit pub -The Highwater Mark, rock pub with pool & hip hop on last Fridays -Tamale Boy, authentic & delicious with lots of outside seating -Bassato Gelato, 12 rotating flavors+bagels in the morning -HighWheel Mead, open Thurs-Sunday -(Seasonally) Woodlawn Farmer's Market at Woodlawn Triangle, Sat. 10-2 Downtown is a 15 minute drive. The Alberta Arts District is also just minutes away so you can hop on a bike and be right in the middle of the jam-packed Last Thursday Art Walk or make a day of it with shopping, dinner and some delicious ice cream from the infamous Salt & Straw. Then come "home" to your quieter retreat where you can just relax and lay in the hammock.....ahhhh. And as the area is well surrounded by beautiful, mature trees, you may decide to enjoy dinner in the love seat swing under the pergola and watch the evening sky. It is a wonderful theatre for watching small bats do their sky routine in the distance. Flying in? This spot is only 10 minutes from the airport. And while in Portland, you may want some wheels! Well, this location is very close to Zipcars and you can sign up with them or Car2go on their sites in advance of your stay. Check out Turo or Getaround to grab a vehicle to tool But if you want to explore the city on two wheels, Everybody Bike Rentals or Ebikes ( electric bike rentals) are the spots to hit first (10 min. by bus). They provide helmets and locks too! ***If you don't see the dates available on the calendar that you had hoped for or if you are traveling with more than two people, please check out my other listing (#95313) which is also a private studio at the same location. It is larger and complete with a private entry and bathroom. Just ask me! Parking is close and the livin' is pretty easy. So please get that profile completed, then contact me and come kick up your heels and stay a while! Oh! P.S. Please read the description, house rules and post a pic of you in your profile beforehand just so that everyone is on the same page. Much appreciated. Cheers!
  • The host made herself available to accomodate me on short notice, and was very welcoming once I arrived. Worth noting, if you use the Navigation App WAZE, you will be sent to the N part of town not the NE part of town where she is located. Please be aware of this and ask the host for directions in advance, or use a different Navigation System. Otherwise, the place was cozy and warm. The only other part worth mentioning is that you will need to make your way up and down a steel ladder with rounded rungs. (not square) This was somewhat challenging in the middle of the night when I had to use the restroom in the main house. It's certainly dobale, but would be a concern for older folks or those who are not very 'well coordinated' in the middle of the night. Otherwise, the stay was lovely and environment was very homey.

  • My sister and I decided to take a trip to Portland to get out of LA. Andree's garden studio was charming, comfortable and close to everything we wanted to do, i.e. exactly what we were looking for! Of course, you have to drive most places, but the Mississippi area is only 5 minutes away and downtown is 10 minutes. There was plenty of room for the two of us, the bed was comfortable and Andree was very accommodating. Not only was she lovely to talk to, but had many good recommendations for us out-of-towners. Andree was a great host and I'd recommend her studio to anyone.

  • Great little cottage! Andrée was very hospitable and our over all stay was super cozy!

    Baylie2015-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • Andrée’s “tiny house” offers the perfect blend of a quiet, rustic retreat and hip, urban getaway all in one! The home itself has the charming quirkiness you hope for in Portland and Andrée left thoughtful touches such as snack bars, tea bags, etc. She also had an extensive list of suggestions/menus for nearby restaurants, coffee shops, and more. Sleeping in the loft was cozy and so fun! It was the perfect place to retire for a peaceful night’s sleep after exploring the many cute neighborhoods of Portland! The location was relatively close to everywhere I wanted to go (NW 23rd, Pearl District, etc.). However, I must say my favorite part of the whole trip was exploring the neighborhood I was in. Woodlawn is a hidden gem! So many great places to eat and drink on Dekum St. (just a 5 minute walk). Not to mention, many of my Portland bucket list places (Salt n’ Straw, Pine State Biscuits) have locations on Alberta St. (about a 15 minute walk or 5 minute Uber) which was awesome! Overall, I loved my time in Portland and this was a great place to stay!

    Kylie2018-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Andrée was a lovely host and we really enjoyed our stay in the garden studio! The studio itself was warm, cozy, clean, and beautifully decorated. The sleeping loft was perfect and the outlets/light switch up there made it super convenient. Coming in and out of the house to use the facilities was no problem at all--we enjoyed the chance to chat with Andrée and pet the dog. Andrée gave us great suggestions of places to try out in the neighborhood, both of which we loved! Special perk--the house is walking distance from a co-op grocery which is great for us traveling vegans. We highly recommend staying here.

    Maggie2014-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about my experience at Andree's was seamless! Check-in and check-out was a breeze. Her place perfectly suited my needs, and the cozy studio was great to come back to and crash out in after a long day running around. Mamacita, her adorable little cat, said good morning and goodnight as I exited and entered the garden (which was lovely) so that I came to look forward to our encounters :) . Andree is just the sweetest host, attentive and considerate, and kind of a mind-reader when it comes to suggestions for her guests. I am forever indebted to her for reminding me to try out Salt and Straw, thank you! It was a pleasure to chat with her in passing, and highly recommend her place for anyone looking to relax and have fun when in Portland !

    Miette2014-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Andrée is a warm, friendly, knowledgeable, considerate host, and her place is both adorable and very well thought-out. Even though the kitchenette is small and doesn't have a sink, she has worked around it cunningly: everything I needed was right there, and then when I did need to go into her house to wash dishes more seriously, it was no problem. Because I injured my foot and was not able to use the loft, I slept on the futon-couch downstairs, which turned out to be far more comfortable than I had anticipated: nice! The one warning for future guests I would give (and this is completely out of the host's control) is that there is currently some construction going on next door. It wasn't a problem when I was gone all day, but it was a little noisy when I spent the morning working in the studio. If you are noise-sensitive and plan to be in the studio during the day, I recommend checking in with Andrée to see if the construction is finished yet. That aside, I can't recommend this place enough!

    Ellis2014-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house was super cute and cozy! Andrée was a friendly and hospitable host with two very cute pups. Access to the bathroom and lack of running water in the tiny house was a little tricky, as detailed in the posting, but everything else was great!

With lots of space and light, this studio has everything that makes a house feel like a home: a fireplace, a full kitchen, King Memory foam Bed, oak floors, handmade furniture, cable tv i, and a private entrance.
This studio is a welcoming space in the center of an historic neighborhood that offers a unique perspective on the city of Portland. Ask me for in-depth info on where to go and what to see in the Irvington neighborhood, the Alberta Arts District, and other parts of Northeast Portland! Over the years, I’ve gotten to know quite a few incredible places to eat, drink, shop, and explore here. Located at the hub of some of Portland’s most interesting neighborhoods, this studio places the whole city at your fingertips. But adventure can be tiring, and the studio offers ample opportunity to put your feet up. Portland can get nippy at night, and a real wood fireplace, stocked with firewood from locally harvested and dried urban hardwood trees, is the perfect way to warm up and feel at home. The apartment has high ceilings and a great fireplace; it’s minimally decorated but has all the important things: a king bed, a couch with a coffee table, a small desk, a dresser and extra shelves, and a kitchen table. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the essentials for cooking a real meal, and the bathroom always has towels, soap and shampoo. The space is located on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen.
The Irvington neighborhood, now only a ten minute bike ride from downtown, was once a trolley-car suburb to the just-fully-developed West side. Designated a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, Irvington is filled with early 20th century homes that have been preserved in their original states. Irvington has become a livable hub of Northeast Portland as a whole, with shops and restaurants of all kinds, within walking distance, surrounding the neighborhood. Irvington proper boasts more than a few community and culinary destinations of its own.
  • Spacious, clean studio in a very safe and quiet neighborhood. Great location, easy check in. I'd definitely stay here again.

    Claudia2018-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jason and Hannah’s space was clean, cozy, and comfortable. It is in a great neighborhood with ample street parking. Check in and out were a breeze and Hannah was great at communicating. Thanks!

    Emily2018-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great spot to stay in Portland, close to many places by bus. Best part was fireplace. Hannah was kindly helped me to light the fire. Thank you!

    Yuki2017-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Good spot to explore P-Town from. We were very happy with our choice to stay here. It's a very charming studio in the neat and walkable Irvington neighborhood. The check-in and our was super easy. Hannah was nice and a quick communicator. The apartment part of a remodeled historic 1910 home-- has lots of character -- a private place to stay. Bed is quite comfortable and there is a nice TV and sofa setup. I thought the coffee, Oregon magazines/guides, and house guide were thoughtful touches. Highly recommend staying here for any visits to Portland.

    Christian2018-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • A cozy, clean, and quiet room in a beautiful tree-lined neighborhood. An easy stroll to nearby cafes, restaurants, transportation, etc.

    Kurt2018-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Rented this place for my mom to stay in for three weeks when she was in town to see our new baby. The apartment was adorable, comfortable and was exactly what she needed. Jason was very accommodating and super helpful with the booking process. Would definitely recommend!

    Nic & Jen2015-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed in this studio for an extended weekend trip. Everything was exactly as described in the listing. This studio is pretty big for a studio. We loved the charm of an historic building. The fireplace and space heater was enough to keep us warm. The bed was comfy and the kitchen worked out well for us. We really loved the location. Irvington is beautiful. It's far enough from downtown where its quiet and peaceful but there are still great places to eat and drink near by. It's close to public transportation which is really easy to use in Portland. You can easily get downtown or where ever you want to go within the city. We would definitely stay here again.

Other amenities include a private courtyard, washer/dryer in the apt., and easy walking distance to bus, train, restaurants and shopping. More information on our historic home can be found on Oregon Encyclopedia website. Search for "Brick House Beautiful". Our home has also been in "Better Home and Gardens" magazine and has been twice on the cover of "Old House Journal". If we are home when you arrive, we will be happy to give you a tour of our home and offer you a cup of tea or a glass of wine while you have complete access to our English gardens, courtyard and barbecue during your stay. We think you will be pleased if you choose to stay in the "Quaint English Garden Apartment " located in our beautiful historic home!
Laurelhurst is an historic old Portland neighborhood with beautiful homes, street trees and a huge park a few blocks away designed by the Olmsted's who designed Central Park in NYC. You will see how homes in Laurelhurst are each very different and unique from craftsmen with large porches to smaller bungalows with beautiful gardens.
  • They were the best couple for new comers of Airbnb. We didn't know portland that much but they lived here all their life and have the great scopes on the best highlights to go to and visit. They will give you alone time whenever need be but they will never complain answering any questions. They were the nicest people. The room was the best part. Big bed and nice classy room to stay in. Easy to exit and by on your way in seconds. Quiet as can be also. Defiantly will be joining them again!

    Jordan2017-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sue's cottage is completely adorable. It's close to Laurelhurst Park, a lovely place to hang out if the weather is affable. Also walking distance to many of the attractions of Burnside and Hawthorn streets of SE Portland. Sue was very responsive and accommodating; we had trouble locating the iron on arrival and they loaned us the one from the house immediately.

    Troy2016-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Bob, along with their home, exceeded our expectations with how welcoming, generous, beautiful and accommodating their home was. We were warmly welcomed into their front door to receive a small tour of their historic home and then shown the apartment we were renting. We were surprised to find a bottle of champagne on ice with glasses, waiting for us in our kitchenette (we told them upon booking the room that is was our honeymoon), so sweet. They had everything we needed in their well appointed apartment. One of the best neighborhoods in Portland, on a beautiful street. We highly recommend staying here (but only if you are under 6'5" because the ceilings are short!). Thanks again for the great experience!

    Brian2015-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • They were great about picking us up and dropping off at the train station when we arrived and left. The space was perfect. Loved Lauralhurst. The home was close to transportation. We were able to easily get to all of our destinations. The bed was comfortable and kitchen was perfect for our needs. Sue and Bob were perfect hosts. We look forward to going back when the weather is nicer.

  • Sue and Bob were phenomenal hosts! My husband and I are already thinking of planning our next trip to Portland because of them, their beautiful home, and the amazing hospitality!

    Tenaya2018-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was really nice - Sue and Bob have a wonderful home and a charming garden apartment. It is convenient to everything and they really make you feel welcome. We'll be back again sometime I am sure.

  • My fiance's Mike and I had a wonderful experience staying at the English Cottage. Sue & Bob are super friendly and welcoming! It was delightfully decorated in a 50's theme! We were very comfortable (the bed was wonderful), and as other reviewers have noted, there was a gift basket with treats on our arrival. Sue & Bob go above and beyond in there host role. The cottage had everything we needed including travel guides and maps for Portland. Also had a folder with written instructions inside about the cottage which was very clearly written and helpful! The area is upscale and beautiful and Laurelhurst Park offers wonderful walks and picnic areas. This is a 5 star airbnb!!

Everything you need is here at our brand new guesthouse loft: a luxurious, lofted queen bedroom; high ceilings with floods of natural light, a modern kitchen, full bath with heated tile, comfy sleeper sofa for extra guests, and Stumptown Coffee with organic cream. The loft rests at the back of the property, one block from bustling Division St, and short blocks from restaurants, coffeeshops, & the Woodsman Tavern, named “One of America’s Best Bars,” by Esquire Magazine.
The loft is located in our backyard in Southeast Portland. While we are only steps away if you need us, the space is very private. In fact, guests report that they forget they are in the middle of the city when they stay in our space! We live in a desirable and fun neighborhood, and parking can be tight! Guests usually find parking within a block or two of our house. At night or during busy times of the day, parking can be found within two short blocks. Guests may feel free to use our driveway for loading/unloading. We do not have a TV in the guesthouse, but offer excellent wifi access.
Our neighborhood has everything you will need, mostly within a five-minute walk! And if you want to visit a different part of the city, there is convenient public transportation around the corner. Check out excellent coffeeshops blocks away (Good Coffee and Stumptown), delicious and intimate restaurants (Bete Lukas, Mi Mero Mole, The Woodsman), or walk up to Mt. Tabor Park. If you're into yoga, there's an awesome space (Yoga Union) around the corner.
  • Very cute, clean, and comfortable guesthouse in walking distance to tons of restaurants, coffee shops and vintage stores! The place was perfect for 3 best friends, the bed was super comfy and we had everything we needed. We didn't want to leave, I would definitely come back and stay here again :)

    Katrina2017-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • The loft was amazing and the neighborhood was super close to some amazing eateries. Would definitely stay here again :)

  • Brian, Laurel, and Luca were wonderful hosts. They left us a little welcoming honeymoon treat in the fridge which was super sweet. The place was super clean, aesthetically pleasing, and homey-feeling. They gave us plenty of privacy but were very friendly when we saw them outside!

    Emilee2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Lauren & Brian's place was amazing! We were able to explore the Division/Hawthorne area and had a wonderful quiet place to come back to just a walk away. Check-in/out was super easy and everything was exactly as listed.

    Laura2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel and Brian’s place was perfect for our weekend trip. It was just enough space for three people and was located in a nice and quiet neighborhood. Great places to eat and shop were within walking distance and everything else was only a short drive away. I would definitely stay here again.

    Mary2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved my stay at Laurel and Brian's studio Its in such a hip and emerging neighborhood, and the amenities were perfect. The kitchen had everything we needed for ocassional meals although the location was also really great being walking-distance to good restaurants and bars for those times when we weren't in the mood to cook for ourselves. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. This was the best airbnb I have ever experienced. The accommodations were the perfect setting to the perfect vacation. It was so magical!!!! Many thanks Laurel & Brian.

Where Bali meets Portland. Come relax in this newly, beautifully designed, private mixed use accommodation. Just five short blocks from Portland's hip N Williams district. A rooftop deck.
I have a total of five rooms, each listed separately in this unique mixed-use building where I also live and work. You will enter just past the Ned Ludd front patio via a private, secure, gated entrance off of MLK at NE Failing street and follow the stairway up to the second level. This is the larger of the three rooms. Each room is newly refurbished and furnished with beautiful, responsibly sourced tropical salvage out of Indonesia and locally re-purposed wood/trim doors and windows. Your private room comes with a window, a wall-mounted flatscreen t.v., small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, free wi-fi an armoire, an ornate sink carved out of stone, down pillows, down comforters, a king-sized posturepedic mattress and zen colored walls that might just make you think you are in... Bali?
NEPO (aka NE Portland) is hip and cool and like so many hip Portland neighborhoods–it is ever-expanding and reinventing itself. New restaurants, shops, boutiques and businesses are popping up all over. Whether you are looking for a place to lay your head for the night while you get out and explore during the day, or you are just looking for a place you can hole up and relax, we've got you covered. The options and amenities you will find here in your little oasis in NEPO are plentiful.
  • Really enjoyed our stay at Timothy's place. The room itself was very clean and comfortable and the location is fantastic. Communication with Timothy was great.

    Kevin2016-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend Timothy's place for those who are looking to stay in a central spot in Portland, conducive to exploring freely as well as seeking comfort when you need some down time.

    Malia2017-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent value. I booked the room becausee of the location next door to Ned Ludd Restaurant. I needed a place to stay, as I was a quest at a wedding reception at the restaurant. When I arrived, I found that I had forgotten to print the instructions, I sent Timothy a text and he responded immediately met me downstairs and let me in! He gave me a quick tour and let me settle in. The facility was secure, the room was clean, light, nicely furnished and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. The bathrooms were clean. The street was a bit noisy, but not too bad. I parked on the side street, with no problem. I had to leave early the next morning, so I didn't visit with Timothy or other guests.

    Laurie2016-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful and convenient stay in Portland. The room was lovely, clean and quiet. We will be back without a doubt!

    Emily2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed for a night, but our experience was great! The room was just like the pictures and we had no problems with the communal bathrooms. If you want to relax, I highly suggest going to the cat cafe down the street. The drum store across the street is pretty cool too (if you're into that kind of thing).

    Rebecca2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at Timothy's place. Great location, the room was spacious and very cozy! I would stay there again.

    Haley2016-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Location was great although there was a bit of traffic noise. I would book a different room next time. Bed was comfortable and room was well done. I love the furniture and layout of the space. Although we didn't sit and enjoy the patio I know it would have been a great spot to sit and relax.

    Amanda2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The place was well situated and was a beautiful room. Access was easy and facilities were clean. Not too sure if it was a particularly loud weekend for the place (was over 4th of July) but the music playing downstairs from the restaurant was just loud enough to be annoying. Unfortunate as it was the only downside for the place. Great stay otherwise

Relaxed + modern one bedroom basement apt. Bright + spacious with a handmade Portland touch. Comfortable for two, it's a great home-base for the traveler wanting to explore PDX! Located in charming Woodlawn neighborhood. Near the park, bars and bus lines.
Handmade by us! We're a craftsman and an interior designer who are not afraid to get our hands dirty. Stay in this remodeled basement where every detail was thought, planned and carefully constructed. We value high-end, conscious design. Our motto is maintain, reclaim and sustain. All of the exposed wood was salvaged from this 100 year old home! We love our house and hope that you do too. It's a great, peaceful place to crash at the end of the day. A plush queen sized bed, a huge doorless walk-in bathroom (ie. divided by a wall), glass walk-in shower and a tiny but efficient kitchen were top priorities when we made this place. The kitchen has dishwasher/fridge/oven stocked with all the pots/pans and plates to make a nice meal at home. Its always a shifting art-installation, so don't be surprised if the art in the listing photos change. We like to collect art and objects during our travels.
We're one block from 2 major bus lines (the 8 goes to downtown) and our neighborhood market, P's & Q's. 3 blocks from Woodlawn park + 5 blocks to our neighborhood hub: breweries, dance hall, coffee shop and restaurants. Woodlawn is a great area and closely located to Alberta Arts District, Mississippi and Kenton.
  • We loved our stay in this super stylish, minimalistic, sparklingly clean basement apartment nestled in a well-established residential neighborhood in NE Portland. I especially appreciated the decor — every detail was thoughtful, beautiful, and well-curated. Every amenity was provided for in the kitchen and bathroom and the mattress, linens, and pillows were that Goldilocks-caliber of “just right.” We never met Anna and Jeremy due to our arrival and departure times, but they were quick to respond to messages, courteous, and communicative. Highly recommended!

    Abby2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable bed, wonderful shower, and the host was very nice. There are two good brewpubs and a fantastic coffee house a short walk away.

    Jenni2018-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to stay in a perfect location. Walking distance to coffee shop, brewery, restaurants, etc. Very clean, spacious, and lots of natural light. We loved the location and the hosts were wonderful!

    Kristi2016-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Jeremy made sure that we had a very relaxing time in Portland! They made sure we felt at home in their home! They have a beautiful space in a nice neighbourhood.

    Candice2016-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Anna and Jeremy's apartment while on our short getaway to Portland. Great attention to detail and beautiful decorating. Such a thoughtful use of space. We were very pleased with how accessible the apartment was to airport, Alberta and just a short Lyft downtown. We'd definitely stay here again! Thanks so much.

    Lauren2017-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the apartment! The entire place was clean, detailed, and beautiful! It is clear that they put a lot of effort into creating this space and keeping it nice. We really enjoyed the quiet, trendy, and lively neighborhood. We would definitely stay again!

    Brigid2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommend Anna and Jeremy's place. The space is extremely comfortable, and it is within walking distance to a lot of great shops and restaurants. Also, Anna and Jeremy were extremely accommodating and made sure that we had everything we needed and more. They worked around our flight schedule and let us drop off bags early so we wouldn't have to worry about them and could enjoy our time in Portland. We highly recommend this beautiful place!

    Jennifer2017-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Anna and Jeremy's was fantastic. We only stayed one night but it was very pleasant and informative. We really appreciated all the great advice Anna gave us, she's adorable! Coming from staying in SE Portland it was great to experience the NE side even if it just was for one night. Everything is as pictured if not more! Great taste! The shower was a definite favorite! It's a great, cute, quiet neighborhood. My bf and I enjoyed a late night stroll to the park which is a 5 min walk and super close to cute coffee shops, restaurants, and brewery. Would definitely stay here again if in the area! Thanks again Anna!

Our private detached garden studio sits in the heart of a quiet residential neighborhood and is a short stroll to top restaurants, food carts, and shopping in hip SE Portland. The space is compact -- about 240sf -- but cozy, bright and a great place to unwind after a day of exploring Portland!
Our cozy studio includes a comfy queen bed, vaulted ceilings, full bathroom, kitchenette, and small sitting area. It's fully detached from the main house, so offers complete privacy. Skylights, french doors, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows provide views of the west hills and flood the room with an abundance of natural light, even on the greyest of drizzly Portland days. It's small --about 240sf-- but the space is well utilized with many amenities such as wireless Bluetooth speaker, Portland maps and guides, and comfy pillows and blankets to make it feel like home. The space is best suited for guests seeking a cozy place to relax and recharge after a day of exploring Portland; It's quite small, so if you're needing more of a "hangout spot" this may not be the best fit. The studio has a full bathroom with shower (no tub). The kitchenette includes a mini fridge, sink, instant hot water, coffee maker, microwave and everything you need for reheating leftovers from the many restaurants and food carts nearby. Complementary tea and coffee are provided along with a long list of restaurant recommendations. There’s a growler available for filling, which you can do at The Imperial Bottle Shop on Division Street and at many local breweries and grocery stores nearby.
We love living in the heart of the Richmond neighborhood! Nestled on a quiet, residential street, we're a short stroll (about 1/3mi) to two main restaurant and retail districts of SE Portland. A 4-block walk brings you to a bus stop that can get you most anywhere else in town. A short walk from the studio brings you to food, shopping and entertainment (to name a few of our favorites): PokPok, Salt & Straw, Ava Gene's, Bollywood Theater; Food Cart pods, Little T Bakery, St Honore; A myriad of boutiques, shops and independent movie theaters on Hawthorne, Clinton and Division streets. You'll likely meet some friendly neighborhood cats during your stay, but due to severe allergies, our studio is pet- and allergen-free. You may also spot our eyepatch-wearing, kung fu-performing neighbor (and good friend) practicing in the street, sometimes alongside his 4yo daughter. He’s a world-renowned martial artist and teacher, is super friendly and adds some true Portland character to our otherwise sleepy neighborhood.
  • This place is perfect for immersing yourself in the Portland culture. You can walk to so many great food trucks & restaurants. Take a quick walk to the bus stop or grab an Uber for a 10 min ride to downtown. The guest house was perfect for 2 people - exactly enough space. I highly recommend this location for anyone looking for a trip to Portland.

  • my husband and I absolutely loved this little place. it was clean, comfortable and Melissa being so friendly and accommodating was the cherry on top. it's located near a lot of amazing restaurants and shops. I visit portland often and I would love to stay here again!

  • Beautiful little spot in a delightful residential area. The description and pictures were spot on. The hosts were truly delightful and very accommodating. I literally felt like I was a resident of Portland during my stay. Absolutely perfect.

  • Melissa's place was nothing short of spectacular. The apartment she has is beautiful and very inviting. Her place is close to everything- my husband and I walked everywhere with ease. We can't imagine having stayed anywhere else for this trip!

    Lauren And Chris2017-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was just as pictured and described, and more! Melissa has truly thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The space was beautiful and tastefully designed. She was flexible with our check-in and out times. We couldn't have asked for more!

    Julia2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Location- perfect. The decor- perfect. Melissa's information & communication- perfect. This was our first Airbnb and I don't think it was fair to do so, our expectations are set so high now! Thank you, Melissa!

    Kara2017-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • This studio is so perfect. Private entrance, amazing windows showing the beautiful garden, cute decor and a comfy bed. The host provides everything you could possibly need for your Portland trip and this studio is located central to everything you would want to see in portland. Hope to return back to this place!

    Andrea2018-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay at Melissa's detached studio. I was greeted by a friendly neighborhood cat in the driveway and fresh cut flowers and a delicious, local chocolate bar on the counter. Check-in was a breeze and the space was modern, clean and stylishly decorate; Melissa has really done a good job with making the space both aesthetically pleasing to the eye and cozy for the body. The bed was super comfortable and the outdoor space was very inviting for a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine. The refrigerator was stocked with sparkling water and cream for the coffee (a true bonus for me!). Melissa provided a rich, local coffee roast and tea and the space even has a hot water spigot which made making tea and coffee super easy. I will share that the space has sky lights and tons of natural light which is part of the appeal but it does mean that you will get a lot of early morning light filtering in so if you're sensitive to this, you may want to bring an eye mask with you. I feel in love with the neighborhood; everything you need is in walking distance - restaurants, coffee shops, markets, yoga studios, parks, fruit stands, bakeries, movie theater, pubs, shopping - you name it you can most likely find it within a 20 min walk max. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hope to stay here again the next time I'm in PDX.

  • This place was one of the best AirBNBs I have stayed in! Perfect sized studio with high ceilings that help to make it not look like a studio. The location was perfect. I could get great coffee, food, and spirits all within a 2 minute walk from the place. The toaster oven was great, blender was amazing and the French press was a perfect touch. Anastasia is a great host, I did a 60 day long term stay and she was always attentive, thoughtful and quick to respond. If I come back to Portland I'll be trying to stay here again!

Buckman is a close in SE Portland neighborhood which is an increasingly popular place to live. The apartment is at the eastern end of the neighborhood. There are parks, a picturesque cemetery, good restaurants, wine bars, craft brewing pubs and the Laurelhurst movie theater, all within walking distance. The #15 bus line runs to downtown on the other side of the cemetery (6 blocks). A little further afield (just over a mile) is the Hawthorne district where there are some off beat shops and more places to eat and drink. Downtown is 2 miles away. The apartment is part of a new build and is situated at the rear of the property next to the garden It is one story up (over the garage) and receives a lot of natural light. It is fully self-contained, all appliances are new which makes self-catering very easy. What it lacks in history it more than makes up for in convenience! There is also ample free street parking directly outside the house. Buckman is pretty close to downtown while still having a residential flavor. It also contains a number of agreeable restaurants, wine bars and brewpubs. Everyday shopping needs such as grocery stores are also well served. Additionally it is pretty easy to get to the major freeways for travel purposes. Buses run to downtown and back a few blocks over.
  • Lovely stay. The studio was beautifully appointed, quiet, and super clean. Was in town for a week long business meeting and this was the perfect place. Wireless network worked super fast. I wish I had had more time to explore the neighborhood. Will likely be back in Portland again this year and hope to stay again.

    Claire2016-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience at Cara and Roger's studio was great! The place was immaculate yet cozy, and the location was perfectly central in SE. They even went above and beyond to accommodate our exceptionally early check in, which made things that much smoother. Would absolutely stay again!

    Rachel2014-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cara was a wonderful host and the studio provided for us was perfect! It is a detached studio from the house so you have your own private entrance. The studio is fully furnished (bathroom with a shower, bed, TV, living room area and full kitchen, laundry too!). There was more than enough space for my boyfriend and I who stayed for 3 nights. Cara was very accommodating. She mentioned that the toilet had been acting funny and to let her know if anything stopped working. We let her know before the toilet fully stopped working (as we noticed it was just flushing really slowly). They fixed the toilet immediately and there were zero problems after that. The place is close to nearby shops and restaurants. We walked everywhere and loved the location. Would definitely recommend her place to anyone and will stay there again if we come back to Portland!

    Kim2013-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing, it has everything you could possibly need. Easy to get in and out of. Easy to park. Easy to walk to destinations or public transport. Safe clean area. Roger and Cara are very nice clean people and their apartment is very private. We hope to stay here in the future

  • Cara's place is perfect! It is cozy and clean and comfortable, great for staying inside and reading on a cold rainy day, and super convenient for walking to restaurants, shops, for coffee or bars. The bed is extremely comfortable and the linens very high quality. The kitchen had everything we needed. Cara was always responsive to questions or comments. We would love to stay again! Thank you Cara!

Bright and clean private bedroom just one block off of Mississippi St. district in N. Portland. Minutes from downtown via bike, light rail or car. Easy access to/from the Airport too! Five years in and our five star rating is going strong!
This home is clean, quiet, creative and perfectly situated for an amazingly rich and convenient Portland experience. With a comfortable Queen bed (fits 2), wood floors, ample closet space, garden views and adjacent shared bathroom, you'll feel right at home. Please note that we ask our guests to limit bathroom visits to 15 minutes (especially in the morning) as this space shares a bathroom with an additional Airbnb room. Full access to kitchen, living room with fireplace, and landscaped garden patio with raised beds and seating. The home is full of plants and art from around the world. No pets/Allergen free! The Mississippi St. district is the place to be! Amazing restaurants, food carts, bars, breweries and stellar music venues are literally a minutes walk from the front door. NOT an easy place to get bored! Parking is easy in this safe neighborhood. The MAX light rail system has a stop just minutes away (walking) that can shoot you downtown or drop you off from the airport. Please note that our close proximity to the I-5 freeway does provide some background noise (not really noticeable inside the house). PLEASE NOTE: Arthur and Adam live in an adjacent building on the property. Audra is our house manager and good friend - and lives on the top floor of this home.
Portland's Historic Mississippi District is definitely where you want to stay when visiting the city. A gorgeous and funky stretch full of great shops, award-winning restaurants, an incredible music venue and amazing bars with outdoor patios and inspiring craft cocktails. SUPER easy to get to other parts of the city from here too!
  • Great location with many great restaurants and bars nearby. The house was very clean as was our bed which was most comfortable. Would recommend to anyone coming to Portland that wants a convenient location to local eateries as well as the light rail to all points in Portland. We were able to navigate the city with light rail and Car2go without issue.

  • Natalie and Adam were wonderful hosts. We can't thank them enough. The first word that comes to mind when I think of them is "warmth". I remember saying, "We love your home". Adam's reply was, "Now, it's your home". They place a lot of care in creating something beautiful and definitely have an eye for the details. I, especially, enjoyed early mornings on their lush patio. Their location is also perfect. It was easy to explore Portland on public transportation, on bike, and on foot. Don't miss the short walk to the Skidmore Bluffs to watch the sunset. We hope we'll be able to stay with them in the near future!

    Liza2014-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This house was perfect for our needs while we were in Portland and majorly contributed to the enjoyment of our trip. The space was so adorable, bright, and unique, and we would recommend it to anyone who is visiting Portland for business or pleasure. Having access to a kitchen and the patio was a major plus.

  • I felt a sense of comfort and ease staying at Adam and Arthur's place. The location was perfect: just a short MAX ride to downtown. Adam and Arthur anticipate guests' needs before they even have them.

    Lisa2016-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy and clean house. Kitchen was so cool and the coffee in the kitchen was super tasty. There are many delicious restaurants near the house. However the bed in my room was little small for two person.

  • Our experience at A&A's beautiful Portland home was great! The accommodations were very comfortable and we enjoyed our brief encounters with the hosts and other guests. We appreciated the attention to detail put into creating a warm and welcoming space and hope to visit again.

  • Great location, very clean, very comfortable bed (I have a bad back, so a good bed makes a huge difference). This was my first experience staying at an Airbnb, and I'm sold!

    Juan2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Adam and Arthur were great! The room and house were warm, welcoming, and clean. The location was great, an easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. They were very considerate and let me know when another guest was going to be using their 2nd listing in the house. I would definitely use them again!

The bunk room has been created as a nod to the hotel's creation as a safe place for sailors. You'll find the same thing in this space with 18' ceilings- cozy, strong, and comfortable triple bunk beds.
At The Society Hotel, we believe in making every traveler feel authentically connected to our community so they are ready to enjoy our beautiful city from day one. We offer three ways to experience our unique hotel: bunk rooms for the affordable community experience; private rooms with shared bathrooms for comfort without excess; and suites for a bit of affordable luxury. All of our rooms come with plush beds, 10-foot windows, high speed wifi, and a hospitality experience unlike any other.
Old Town is Portland's oldest neighborhood - the original epicenter of Portland, Oregon. It has a colorful history and an equally colorful present! We are the epicenter of Portland's street fashion scene, the nightlife district, as well as a social services haven for those most in need. So expect an eclectic mix from Old Town, and hopefully love it as much as we do!
  • Staying in bunk room was like being in a hostel, but with more amenities. The bar/cafe/lobby was nice for socializing, and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. I also appreciated being walking distance from many good restaurants and Powell's bookstore.

    Kat2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Society Hotel is in a central location close to downtown Portland. If you're looking for a place where you just want to lay your head I highly recommend this place. You definitely get your moneys worth. The café in the front is unique and spent most my time there.

    David2016-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed my stay, nice bed, very clean bathrooms, soft towels. I would recommend it!

    Nicholas2015-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was perhaps the best hostel I've ever stayed in. it was clean, well organised, modern, thoughtfully set out ( free shampoo, shower gel etc) with great staff! Even though the rooms accomodated 10+ people it still felt private due to the well kept bedside areas!

    Freya2016-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • My stay in the Bunk Beds at the Society Hotel could not have been better. I arrived early to town and called to check on getting in early, they said they could hold my bags but i would have to wait until 2ish for my space, as the bunk bed area takes a lot of prep and cleaning with high turn over and wide open space. The location is down in an area of downtown that has a fairly high density of transient people, but i never felt threatened, or harassed by such. The buildings security is easy to use. The Bunk house was amazing, clean, quiet, comfortable. On the 2 nights i was here i wasnt disturbed by noise at all. Side note i believe the bunk house is insulated from the noise by all the other rooms in the Hotel, as the bunk house is situated in the middle of the building, which is a good thing. The people working at this place were amazing, from the front desk, to the employees in the halls, to the people working the food area, to the Room concierge (wrong title) Ty, this guy is awesome. Over all a great experience, and will stay in the bunks again. Chris

  • The bunk beds and spaces are spartan but functional and comparable to other hostels. The building is nicely renovated and the staff were patient, responsive and accommodating. I'd stay here again, but look to book earlier to get a room instead of a bunk.

    Karen2016-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • The shared bunk room was pretty big. Lots of beds, all with a privacy curtain. The check-in staff were very friendly!

    Dan2018-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Society Hotel exceeded all of my expectations! I loved the idea of the bunk room but was nervous about it at the same time, but it was an amazing experience to say the least! The bathrooms were clean and were always stocked with soap, toilet paper, tissues and paper towels. I always had plenty of blankets and pillows and well. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I can’t wait to return to the Society when I come back to Portland!

Light-filled, private 2 story apartment, parking in the driveway, two major bus lines, walking distance to restaurants/bars, shopping & grocery. Separate office area, high-speed internet, great for business travel.
A well-stocked gourmet kitchen, lots of windows to let light in (blackout shade in bedroom to help you sleep!), new comfy pullout sofa, full size washer & dryer, courtyard space outside to chill out, park in the driveway right next to the apartment
The Albert Arts neighborhood has award-winning restaurants, bars and shopping all within walking distance. The apartment is on a major bus line that can get you where you need to go quickly.
  • This place was great! Perfect for two couples and both beds are more than sufficient - one is a foldout (but a nice one) and the other in the bedroom is a double (close to a queen). The upstairs space is easily manipulated for a variety of activities. The outside we didn’t use because of wet weather. Overall we’d stay here again as we got great value for what we paid - you should too!

    Kyle2018-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Tommy’s place was wonderful. Great location to get to multiple neighborhoods and downtown. The place was spotless and decorated so well. We also got into town early and he was very accommodating by letting us park there early and gave us the the option to put our luggage in the apartment before check-in. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting!

    Kristen2018-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Tommy’s place is marvelous. It was spotless, cute, and offered the best amenities. My mom is a cooking fanatic, so this kitchen had her wanting to buy a whole new kitchen! The outside area is so cute! We could have easily been there all night if the weather would have allowed it. As soon as you step in you will realize what an amazing host Tommy is.

    Daniela2018-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was a super clean, stylish, conveniently located place - very happy with it. And there were many nice touches -- spices in the kitchen, a selection of tea bags, and recycling, which always makes me happy. :-) Communication was great. Excellent bed, excellent sheets, excellent towels. It looked as good as the photos, which we appreciated as it's not always the case. You could tell he cared about providing good hospitality.

    Susan2018-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • The guest house was very cozy, clean, comfortable and located in a quiet neighborhood. Great location with nearby coffee shops and restaurants on Alberta and a short drive to downtown. We highly recommend this to anyone visiting Portland!

    Steven2018-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was exactly as pictured - clean, bright and inviting! The apartment featured Oregonian art and maps that really immersed you in Portland. Maps, travel guides and local books provided by the host helped us plan our stay. The apartment was in a bright neighborhood and was a convenient uber trip to downtown. Would definitley stay again. Thanks Tommy for an excellent stay!

A quiet, cozy bedroom & bathroom on the ground floor of a beautiful, modern new home in a verdant, friendly Southeast Portland neighborhood. Enthusiastic greeting by very friendly dogs & cat comes standard!
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE REQUESTING ACCOMMODATION. As a courtesy to our guests, our check-in time is 2:00 pm; however, as we both work weekdays, we cannot have the rooms ready until 5:30 or so. What this means is that our guests are welcome to make themselves at home in their living room or just drop their bags off and head out exploring, but they won't be able to rest their weary heads or hit the showers until we've had a chance to get home and tidy up. (PLEASE NOTE: This listing highlights the primary guest bedroom available, but for parties of 3 or 4 people, we do have a secondary bedroom that also features a queen-sized bed. If you are making a reservation for two people and you wish to book both bedrooms, PLEASE EXPLICITLY TELL US SO, as the default for two guests is ONE bedroom; for a two-guest reservation, the cost will be the listed room rate + $30/night. All guests share the same bathroom.) There is almost an entire floor available in our newish home smack-dab in the heart of fun, accessible Southeast Portland! This means that our guest(s) get not only their own quiet bedroom, but also a private full bathroom AND their own nicely-appointed living room (please note: the first-floor living room is NOT private, as it does not have a ceiling and is the way between the front door of the house and the stairs to the second floor). We are steps away from a frequent-service bus line, a terrific sandwich shop that's open for breakfast, lunch AND dinner, a pizza joint, a Starbucks, and, best of all, a Trader Joe's! The house is about two miles south of the trendy Hawthorne district, one mile south of nationally-recognized Division Street, and about four miles east of downtown Portland. The house itself is a beautiful, soaring Doug Fir- and hemlock-constructed dream home decorated with one-of-kind glass art pieces and potted succulents. Our guests have access to our fabulous kitchen in addition to their own first-floor amenities. We have a very friendly housecat you will likely meet during your stay, but the guest bedroom and guest bathroom doors are kept closed for the comfort of allergen-sensitive guests. We also have two friendly dogs who will greet you eagerly upon your arrival, but who otherwise spend their time hanging out with us and don't wander much to the guest floor. Lastly, to our guests during the colder months: the guest floor tends to be the coolest in the house, and we provide space heaters and afghans for your comfort, but we figure we should let you know ahead of time that if you run cold, ours may not be the ideal place for your stay.
Our neighborhood is so great! We are really close to several cool Portland hubs, but we're on a relatively quiet residential street so we truly have the best of all worlds.
  • We had a great time during our stay with Brad and Becca! We were a bit unlucky with weather and ended up spending an afternoon sheltering from the rain, enjoying the company of the cat, Diego. Be sure to check out the map in the sitting room, it has great food recommendations close by!

    Andrea2015-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful space & truly a feeling of being "home away from home" while in Portland! We couldn't ask for nicer, more hospitable & welcoming hosts and only regret not having more time!! Thanks for everything Brad & Becca- good luck with the new puppy!!

    Alex2015-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of being greeted by Brad and Becca into their beautiful home. The area we were to be staying in was so clean and creatively decorated. We only stayed one night, really to just sleep, but during our night the house was peaceful and quiet. During our departure their cat refused to let us leave by pulling on our blanket as we folded it. Lovely place!

    Nena2015-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay at Brad & Becca's. Unique but well-designed thus comfortable place made our stay in Portland even more colorful. A warm welcome from their lovely doggy and kitty definitely eased the fatigue of travel. Thank you!

    Yukie2015-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Brad and Becca were the perfect first time Airbnb experience for us! Their home is clean, cozy, and creatively designed. Brad greeted us when we arrived along with Carlos the dog and Diego the cat. All three were laid back and friendly as could be! The house was easy to find/navigate to, and has quick access to downtown and Division. They even handmade an interactive map of local attractions that is not to be missed. Their recommendations never led us wrong. This is definitely an awesome place to stay in Portland.

This 3rd floor loft is located in the N. Williams District, on a main bike route, across the street from a bus stop, close to the street car and light rail. It is an eclectic 900 sqft self contained unit with amazing views on the top floor of a 1900's Victorian. This stretch of Williams Ave has a more industrial feel but we are just a few blocks from eateries & libations. Walk to the Convention Center, Moda Center and the Pearl District.
-The view is amazing. -Efficiency style open kitchen with 2 stove top burners, toaster oven, french press, cookware, full dishware & glassware plus a real fridge with freezer. -comfy queen bed & nice Egyptian cotton sheets -new heating system with Air Conditioning! -2 wifi networks -a slew of information & maps on Portland & surrounding areas such as the Columbia Gorge, Oregon Coast, wine country etc. -Walk to the heart of the Williams District -Walk to the convention Center & Moda -Walk into the Pearl District (20min.)
Building on its reputation for bicycles, beers and brunch, the Williams District has evolved into a dynamic, must-see destination for locals and visitors alike. With its broad array of eateries, breweries, characters, shops and services, the district is a veritable composite of all the best Portland has to offer. The Williams District includes more than 150 businesses and is also defined by its rich cultural history. In the 1940s and ’50s, Williams Avenue was teeming with jazz clubs and speakeasies. Today located just down the street is the historic Billy Webb elks lodge. On a Friday or Saturday night it is not rare to sit on the deck and hear the DJ spinning.
  • Exelente experiência! Muito bem localizado com tudo que precisamos! O Loft tem varias dicas de lugares, restaurantes e cafés de Portland. Cada item vemos a preocupação da proprietária.

  • Cozy loft, and Tyra was very welcoming and gave great information on the room and neighborhood. Walking distance to several restaurants/brew pubs/bars, grocery stores, Oregon Convention Center, and more.

    Andy2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at Tyra's loft. The place was clean, had lots of character and the bed was very comfy. The location was fantastic and communicating with Tyra was smooth and hospitable.

    Jasmine2014-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Tyra was the perfect host! From the moment we confirmed our reservation, Tyra was quick to respond, super communicative throughout our stay and sent me a bunch of recommendations without me even asking! She even left a local cider chilling in the fridge to welcome our arrival - talk about hospitality :) The loft is a dream and the view from the patio is gorgeous - just like the pictures! Tyra left plenty of local magazines and guides to help us find the cool things to do around Portland. On the night we arrived, we walked a quick 10 minutes up the street to the Williams District and grabbed a drink at a cozy lil cocktail bar called Box Social (highly recommend their grilled cheese & tomato soup!). I'd stay in Tyra's loft again, without hesitation. Thank you Tyra for being a great host!

    Gina2016-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Plenty of street parking space. The room is clean and cozy. Tyra is a great host and has tons of recommendations especially things to do and where to find great foods in Portland. :D I will definitely stay here again next time.

    Prowpanga2018-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Tyra was a great host! Very prompt with communication and gave some great suggestions in terms of where to eat and grab good drinks nearby. The house was a bit older than we expected, as were most homes in the area we realized, but the place was very clean and was in a great location! Majority of things we wanted to see were within walking distance which was perfect. And for other first timers, Lyft and Uber were also very convenient to get around the city. We didn't hear the other tenants in the house at all during our stay. We are used to the occassional city sounds, so the place seemed very quiet to us, but Tyra was nice enough to leave ear plugs in case we needed them. Overall an awesome place to stay for our first time in Portland!

    Lisa2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the views to the West and South. Even when it's too wet to enjoy the deck, you can still see quite a bit from inside. The loft is at the top of an old house, but has a modern feel. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. Lighting is ample. Heater keeps the place toasty. Bathroom is updated and spacious. We didn't spend much time right in the neighborhood. Loved that parking was free and always available. There's also a streetcar stop not too far away. Check-in and check-out were easy, didn't have any problems while we were there. Highly recommend over a hotel. Felt like home.

    Fidan2015-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute and cosy. Great view. While residential, there were plenty of places to eat (and drink) dinner or breakfast tucked around the neighborhood within walking distance. Host provided a bunch of little extras: snacks, tea, coffee, loaner umbrellas and some toiletry basics. It was nice to not have to pack it all or run out to the store for items we would only end up using a little of. Be aware there are 3 flights of stairs to this little gem. Personally my husband and I were always happy for the exercise after a long day sitting in a conference or returning from a delicious meal. Great little kitchen, although we didn't use much besides cups, preferring to eat our way through the neighborhood. Very hospitable hosts stayed lightly in touch throughout our stay, making sure we had what we needed and giving great food tips for the area!

Spacious master bedroom with private bath, entrance & deck; easy access to transportation, walking distance to N Williams, N Mississippi, The Pearl, Rose Quarter/Convention Center, east side amenities, & Emanuel Hospital. All are welcome! airbnb.com/rooms/2291626?s=51
This is a large master suite with accommodations for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay: a Keurig coffee maker, complimentary coffee and tea, a refrigerator, a microwave, dishes, knives, and silverware. The room also has cable TV, Queen size bed, foldout futon sofa, airbed in closet, sitting area & desk. "...the bathroom was unexpectedly awesome with two sinks, and such a large shower with dual heads." Heating and air conditioning is a mini-split which keeps the temperature comfortable and quiet.
Eliot neighborhood is full of popular dining establishments, coffee shops, music venues, parks, and the Matt Dishman community center with in-door swimming pool. This is a great close-in Portland community with access to everything you need. Several places for live music include the Secret Society, White Eagle Saloon, Wonder Ballroom and, of course, the Rose Garden Moda Center.
  • It was the perfect location! Nothing was ever too far away! Loved being able to walk up the street and get all kind of different food! Enjoyed our stay very much!

  • We enjoyed our stay here a great deal. Thank you, Jerry!

    Denise2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • This air bnb is ideal for a couple or a pair of friends. Jere has provided all accommodations you could ever want: extra towels and blankets, drinking water, hair dryer, iron for clothing, coffee machine, rain gear (in case of a random shower like we experienced), AC... basically an apartment minus a stove. The space has all modern fixtures (the bathroom is large and the shower is amazing). The space is so clean and organized. The location is kick ass for lack of a better description- literally 5-7$ ride share into downtown or you can take a 30-40 minute walk. 5 minute waking distance to public transit and an amazing cafe called Bridges. The location is nice and secluded away for the street so it's very private- even the little patio is surrounded by trees so passersby can't see in. Very friendly cat that would would hang out with us in the mornings. I can't compliment Jere and her air bnb enough. Can't wait to voice Portland again and stay with Jere eveytime we visit.

    Veronica2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • The listing description was accurate. Jere provides a huge private bedroom and bath. The location is easy to get to, and within easy walking to her neighborhood restaurants/shops. The bus is a block away, providing easy access to Max line and downtown.

  • This suite was better than we'd hoped. We had everything we needed and more. The room had helpful brochures, tourist suggestions and maps. Comfortable bed, huge bathroom and closet. The pictures don't do it justice. It felt more like a large hotel room. I would defiantly recommend this place to anyone. Thanks again Jere!

    Danielle2015-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very pleasant stay with Jere. The room was more than spacious with a very nice and luxery bathroom. We enjoyed the balcony in front of our room and had breakfast enjoying the fine morning sun. We are gratefull for this very agreable closure of our vacation the US.

    Josée2014-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jere’s place was super cute! I loved how private and spacious the room was and the bathroom was huge! I liked that she had good shampoo, conditioner and face wash .. not the cheap stuff lol There was a lot of towels and extra pillows. Bed and pillows were very comfy. The neighborhood was nice and quiet. We were like 10 minutes away from downtown Portland, Mississippi Ave, Japanese Garden, Forest Park.. which was awesome. I would definitely recommend future travelers to stay at Jere’s place.

Other great attributes: - Close to downtown, and about 15 minutes from the airport. - Incredible restaurants, bars, coffee shops, shopping, art galleries, music, and street art are a short walk or bike ride away. - One block from public transportation that drops you downtown before you know it! - Close to our favorite grocery store (New Seasons) with organic food, local products, and an excellent source for gifts or mementos of your stay. - Beautiful Woodlawn, Alberta and Fernhill Parks are within 6 -12 blocks away, or head to Forest Park for great hiking in the middle of the city. - Concordia University is two blocks away, and a great place to stop by to watch a baseball or soccer game in their beautiful open stadium, check out their grounds or wander into the library.
  • Exactly as the pictures show. Very clean. Good location. Melissa even leaves a few goodies in the fridge for guests to enjoy.

  • Stayed here for one night with my girlfriend. It’s a cute place and my girlfriend loved all the decor.

  • This is a great space which instantly feels like home. The host has a wonderful book full of info about the local area and places to eat, drink and see. It was spotlessly clean, and very well-maintained. I could not have hoped for better accommodations. Everything worked as promised and was also very functional in the layout. Definitely would stay here again!

    Michael2018-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the huge space; one of the largest we have stayed in through our seven years of using Airbnb all over the world. Very good location, handy to the airport, walking distance to restaurants and breweries, not too far from CBD.

    Schalk2018-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • My mom and I needed a one night stay after driving from California. Melissa’s basement Airbnb was not only stylish but well located in an amazing neighborhood for food and local stores! Melissa was more than helpful when we arrived and left! Only caution is it was a bit noisy from the bottom floor and the stairs but other than that we were very comfortable, the neighborhood is safe and quiet. We’d definitely like to come back :)

  • She is so friendly and very quick to respond. She has the cutest dog and cat! Her studio is very homely and I loved the decor. The bed was comfortable, the heater worked great! She was nice enough to give me a ride to a local brewery. Thank you :)

I'm offering a comfortable clean bedroom in the best neighborhood in Portland. Self check in so late night arrivals are no problem. On all major bus lines. New Seasons market one block away and 20+ restaurants in a 15 block radius. Free street parking. LGBTQ friendly. 3 small dogs live here so if you don't love dogs, this is not the place for you.
I'm offering a bedroom in my four bedroom home on the main floor right next to the shared bathroom. The bed is a comfy queen size. My home has a back porch with a cozy deck for eating breakfast and sipping coffee and a picnic area under the arbor for dinner and relaxing. The dogs can be a bit intense, but Rocky is always down for a head scratch.
Dozens of excellent restaurants within walking distance of the house. Two grocery stores within 4 blocks. Major bus lines will take you downtown in ten minutes. Our neighborhood is quiet and clean in the heart of Portland's biking community. We're also within walking distance to the Aladdin Theater so come see a show while you're here!
  • Kara é atenciosa e nos ajudou no que precisamos. O quarto é pequeno mas confortável. O chão da cozinha estava bastante sujo.

  • Truly enjoyed staying here! Kara was great at communicating back whenever I had any questions. The house was super cozy and relaxing!

  • Kara was warm and inviting and her dogs love to say hello. The neighborhood was very wonderful to walk at night and great places to eat and shop very close by. Had a great time at her place was a perfect location for my workshop.

  • Kara was out when I arrived but she made certain I would be welcomed by another housemate. The house feels warm and inviting, and the room was quiet with a nice comfy bed. I enjoyed talking with Kara on day 2, she knows a lot about the area. I picked a random direction one day and started walking around and found some great places to eat and shop, it's a prime location for getting to know the city. Highly recommended.

    Derek2015-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying with Kara. Although we did not get the chance to meet her in person, she was very friendly and accommodating via text messages. Her home was very clean and the room was exactly as described. Great location! We will definitely try to stay here again.

    Katie2015-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Kara's was the perfect place to stay in Portland. I'd never been to the city before, and her place is right next to tons of food, coffee shops and retail! She gives you a list of suggestions, great wi-fi and you can even borrow a bike out of the garage! She also has 3 super cute dogs that can be a little yippie, but I loved waking up and playing with them before starting my day. If I ever have to stay in Portland again, I'll definitely be booking my time for her private room!

    Michelle2016-03-03T00:00:00Z

Comfortable, modern basement studio with private entrance, only minutes away from downtown and located in safe, quiet Piedmont neighborhood with plenty of on-street parking. Comfy queen size bed, private bath, private kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hot water maker, and all the basic amenities.
Warm and cozy space for two with modern furnishings and its own complete kitchen and bathroom.

  • You will thoroughly enjoy your stay at Robert's excellent Studio Apartment. It is very modern, sparkling clean with a well equipped kitchen and bathroom. Perfect for a couple or someone travelling on their own. Plenty of space and in a lovely quiet neighborhood. Easy public transport access into the City via No.44 bus, close by. I highly recommend Robert's place. As we say in Australia "it was real beaut".

The place doesn’t disappoint with the touches of unique artwork & special decor. We felt very comfortable during our stay & would recommend this place to anyone whose visiting Portland. Thank you Robert for everything!

  • We really lucked out with this location and host. The listing is exactly as described and the hosts are very kind people. I made an overnight delivery to the residence during my 5 night stay and UPS delivered the package many days late, after I already left. The hosts were so thoughtful and trust-worthy in helping me resolve the debacle.

  • My wife and I along with our 14 month old stayed four nights in the Hawthorne Wisteria Retreat and it was wonderful! The studio is as advertised and was clean upon arrival. The kitchen and bathroom are well stocked and the queen bed is comfortable. This unit is situated to the side/back of the main house and is very private. We rented bicycles and a trailer to tow the little in and there was plenty of room in the courtyard to park them at night. The neighborhood is gorgeous, quite and within walking distance to many restaurants, shops and breweries. We are also avid runners and very much enjoyed serene runs in the neighborhood and adjoining neighborhoods. We had the pleasure of meeting both Ed and Sari and they were very welcoming. We are already looking forward to our next Portland adventure and will definitely stay at here again!

    Wendy2016-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • When we arrived at Ed and Sari's Wisteria Retrear, Sari greeted us and made us welcome. We especially enjoyed the privacy and the clean design. The neighborhood is perfect for walking and near some great small restaurants on Hawthorne as well as the Powell's Bookstore branch. We could not have picked a more perfect spot for my husband and I to get a few days of quiet before wedding festivities began. And loved that a car was not necessary. Thanks, Ed and Sari, for providing a true retreat.

    Deborah2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Ed & Sari's place. We visited Portland for two days. The studio is a perfect base to explore Portland. Downtown is a 10 minute Uber-drive away. The studio is well equipped. For home-cookers, there's a Safeway around the corner. The neighborhood is nice and quiet, while Hawthorne boulevard (close by) is very lively. We would definitely recommend this place!

Our home is beautifully situated across from a quiet park. We are located just a couple blocks walk to restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and bus stops on trendy Hawthorne and Division streets.
Our one bedroom, 500 square-foot basement apartment is lovingly decorated in the Northwest Style with touches of Scandinavia. The apartment has separate entrance for your privacy. The bedroom has a queen bed with cozy, fluffy featherbed comforters. The living room has a sofa that converts to double bed with bedding provided. We also have a queen futon available for parties over 4 people. It’s a bit tight for 6 people, but it is possible! We have a little kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker with complimentary coffee. The bathroom has a bath/shower combo with all the essentials provided. We have a television that picks up a few stations, but we do not have cable. Our location is ideal for foodies who want to walk to popular restaurants on SE Hawthorne and SE Division streets. We are directly across the street from a park. The Hawthorne bus (#14) is just 1.5 blocks away and will get you downtown within 10 minutes. We also are walking distance to grocery stores, movie theaters, shops, breweries and pubs. Our neighborhood is quiet at night, so we ask that there be no noise after 10:00pm. We are an early-to-bed, early-to-rise family (up at 5:00am) so you may hear us above in the morning.
We are ideally situated between the popular Hawthorne and Division streets. We are 2.5 blocks from the nearest bus stop and are walking distance to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, movie theaters. Best of all we are located right across the street from a park. There is ample parking as well.
  • This was a great basement suite, right down the street from some amazing food! Jennifer was very accommodating, allowing me to add my parents to the reservation after booking. We recommend this AirBnB!

  • Jennifer's basement apt was clean, cozy, comfortable and had all the essentials including a mini fridge, coffee and some basic Kitchenware for our stay. Plenty of street parking, and perfect location for exploring division and Hawthorne st eats and shops as her home was conveniently situated between the two main streets and we didn't need to drive anywhere, but at the same time tucked away on a quiet street across the street from a park. Very prompt communication with Jennifer and clear instructions and tips for ck in and out stay. Binder on coffee table had at your fingertip info which was very convenient. Would definitely stay w Jennifer again if it is just up to 2 adults and maybe a child or two !

This space will make you feel cozy and right at home! A bright and well appointed tiny house located in Northeast Portland. Just steps from some of the best restaurants in all of Portland. The Alberta Arts district is just a few blocks away with cafes, pubs and local shopping. There are unique neighborhood amenities, such as the soaking pool and movie theater at the Kennedy School. For more photos and neighborhood info, visit: @portlandtinyhouse on Instagram.
We put a lot of love into Portland Tiny House. The space includes warm wood flooring, ceramic tiling, modern decor and special vintage touches. The house has a very comfortable Tuft and Needle queen sized bed, bathroom, kitchenette equipped for cooking light meals and cozy counter seating for two. Coffee, tea, fresh eggs and Portland travel guides provided. Need anything else?...just let us know! (2 guests with a small child may sometimes be accommodated)
Guests are a block away from Portland's most popular and notable restaurants: DOC, Beast, Autentica, Dame, Expatriate, Wilder and Yakuza Lounge. The house is within walking distance to the local New Seasons Market and the Alberta Arts District with shops/restaurants/art galleries and the hugely popular Last Thursday monthly arts festival. You certainly won't want to miss all of the wonderful shops and restaurants up on Alberta Street. There are many popular restaurants that often have a line to get in (yes...they are THAT good!) like Pine State Biscuits, Salt and Straw Ice Cream, The Grilled Cheese Grill and the Bollywood Theater. Lots of vegan dining as well: Vita Cafe, Back to Eden Bakery and the Bye and Bye Pub. So many wonderful options, we usually have a hard time deciding what to pick! Just around the corner: Walk a block up to enjoy hand-crafted morning coffee at Extracto or breakfast at Cup & Saucer. Drop in to take a yoga class at The People's Yoga studio. Hunt for fun vintage finds at Red Fox Vintage. Or you can explore the McMenamins Kennedy School: a historic elementary school re-purposed as a hotel (including a movie theater, soaking pool ($5 for a relaxing soak), restaurants and pubs). There are two parks within walking distance from the tiny house, Alberta Park and Fernhill Park. Peninsula Park is also a quick jaunt from the tiny house and it boasts a beautiful, seasonal rose garden that is often less crowded than the well known International Rose Test Garden in the West hills.
  • The tiny house is magical. Everything from the property itself to the design aesthetic of the house feels like a dream. It is so beautifully decorated - minimalist yet homey. The neighborhood is charming and walking distance to cute restaurants and shops. Genevieve and Duston were warm and welcoming, and provided us with all necessities that we forgot to pack. They gave us travel tips of what to see and offered us fresh fruit (cherries, strawberries) growing in the garden. When we go back to Portland, we know exactly where we'll be staying! 10/10 would recommend

  • Paul's place is the perfect place to relax! Everything was as it was described and Paul was super nice. Theres a great little park across the street and a bus stop just outside of the house. I would definitely stay here again!

    Megan2017-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is as nice or nicer than what you see in the listing. Paul provides so many amenities -- he'll pick you up from the airport, he offers bike rentals, he's happy to make recommendations, and he even has a little "travel store" where you can buy a toothbrush or other item by leaving a dollar in the basket. The beds were extremely comfortable -- even my clueless teenagers commented on that. We can't wait to come back!

    Galen2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • The place is very clean and cozy. It has everything you'll need. Paul is very helpful, he greeted us upon the arrival and gave some good tips about the restaurants and other things. We are definitely recommend this place for staying and we''ll be back!

  • Paul's place is awesome! Spacious and quiet. I love the smaller bed which perfectly fits into the smaller room, providing sense of safety!Paul is very nice and responsive and he is always there to help. Definitely recommend this place to people who travel to Portland.

  • My friends and I loved the funky pad! Paul was really nice, we arrived early before check in time and he let us drop our things off before going around the city. If we come back to Portland, we would definitely want to stay with him again.

  • The funky pad is just that - a spacious, colourful suite in a lovely house in a central, yet pretty neighbourhood. The hosts are friendly, helpful and available, the suite well-stocked. I would certainly recommend this unit.

    Denise2013-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the funky pad! It had everything we needed. We stayed for only one quick night, but enjoyed the neighborhood bars and restaurants. We had the pleasure of meeting Paul, and he was very polite and accommodating. We would recommend the Funky Pad Suite to anyone staying in Portland! Seen on the TV show "Tiny House Nation", CNN, Food & Wine Magazine, and the NY Post, the 350 sq ft Rustic Modern Tiny House was designed and built by us, your friendly AirBNB hosts. Guests call it "completely charming" and "the perfect urban getaway". Welcome! M+J
For years we've been daydreaming about building a little house one day. Then we finally made it happen - using our own two hands (DIY! The Portland way!) and with the help of some great friends. We had a vision in mind, but a lot of the details came together as we built, based on what materials we had available to us. Downstairs is the kitchen, living room with convertible couch, and bathroom with tiny clawfoot tub. Access the upstairs via STAIRS (not a ladder), where you'll find our loft bedroom with comfortable queen sized bed. Sustainable design is important to us, and the house is constructed and furnished from an eclectic array of reclaimed materials - squirreled away over the years, and now creatively reused and repurposed. See photo captions for a detailed walkthrough of the house. A PARTIAL SNAPSHOT • The trim and shelves are reclaimed from an old shed that used to be on the property. • Teak hardwood flooring, cedar shake siding - salvaged from high-end construction jobs. • The wood-clad windows salvaged from a horse farm in the Oregon countryside. • The kitchenette stove/refrigerator sourced from the Hood River History Museum. Instagram: @rusticmoderntiny
We love our walk/bike friendly N. Williams Ave neighborhood - it's been getting a lot of media attention as one of Portland's hottest neighborhoods. You are one block from the main corridor, bustling with award-winning restaurants, bars, coffee shops, wine bars, bakeries, yoga studios, and indie boutiques - it seems there's something new every week. Sunset Magazine loves its “low-key urban vibe", past guests call our neighborhood "awesome", "amazing" and "full of things to do". Our street has even made an appearance or two on the TV show Portlandia.
  • My fiance and I stayed at the Tiny House for a long weekend to get acquainted with our soon-to-be new homeland. We could not have asked for a better place to stay, nor better people to deal with!!! Michael and Jenny were both VERY attentive to our questions throughout the time leading up to our stay and even contacted us during to see if we needed anything! Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to meet, but I doubt this will be the last time that our paths cross! The neighborhood was AWESOME, with tons of bars, restaurants, boutique shops and even a great grocer a few blocks down (New Seasons Market). The kitchen was loaded with everything you'd need to make your own meals and stay comfortable. All in all, we were so amazed with everything about Portland and the Tiny House just made it that much better! If we have the opportunity to swing by the area again before moving there for good, you better believe that we'll be crashing here!!! Thanks again, guys!!!

  • The tiny house was perfect for our honeymoon stay in Portland! The neighborhood was great with tons of things we could walk to. Michael was very accommodating and would message us every few days to make sure we didn't need anything. Thanks for everything!

    Hannah2014-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Jenny were fantastic. Checked in with us and helped us along the way so everything would be smooth for us. The Tiny House was exactly like the pictures and was equipped with all the essentials. Feels almost like a cabin nestled into a quiet neighborhood. We didn't have a car, so we were happy that there were some great places within walking distance and other things were a short bus-ride away (our first experience with public transportation mind you). This was our honeymoon and since we are from the South, we thought choosing a destination in the Pacific Northwest would help us beat the heat-- BOY were we wrong. We didn't even consider that no-one (not even businesses) would have air conditioning. Well, ya live and ya learn. Apparently Portland only has about 2 weeks of hot weather in the summer, so most of the year they don't need it. Anyway, we quickly adjusted and had a great time working off all the wonderful food and drinks we were consuming by walking and sweating. :) Nearby hot spots for food: Lardo, Bollywood Theater, and Lincoln. SO YUMMY. We LOVED our stay in Portland and will definitely be returning!

  • We had a wonderful experience at the tiny home. A very cozy and well-designed space. Michael and Jenna provided a great list of places to see and things to do, which we definitely utilized during our long weekend. It got a little chilly during the winter, but the space heaters were a big help. The place was close by a lot of cute restaurants and stores, and easily accessible to other areas of Portland. We would love to stay again!

    Jonathan2016-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here was a great experience! The apartment was private, clean, unique, and had a great layout-did not feel "tiny". Having the front patio was really nice as well. The neighborhood was very convenient and close to many good food and drink options. Michael and Jenna were excellent and very accomodating hosts. Communication was quick before the trip and after. We had a late flight and they connected us with one of their friends who stored our luggage, enabling us to explore the city a bit more-thanks so much! Highly recommended!

    Chandra2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely LOVED our stay at the tiny house! It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location has perfect proximity to so many fun areas to explore in and around the city. With our bikes and the tiny house as our home base, we were able to have a fantastic Portland adventure. Thanks Michael and Jenny for the stay! Perhaps we shall cross paths in LA some day!

  • We had a great stay at Ron's place. Unfortunately our arrival was delayed and the host was accommodating of our late check in time. The kitchen is top notch, especially the very nice espresso machine.

    Nicole2016-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome space; spacious, clean and stylie. Ronald and Paul were both gracious and friendly. The highlight was the neighborhood: walking distance to the best two meals I had in four days of non stop eating and drinking. (Porqueno and tasty&sons if your curious) Hell of a weekend...thanks guys.

    Loren2016-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for our weekend trip! Ron and Paul were very gracious hosts. The studio is clean, spacious, comfortable and has all the amenities you might need. Also walking distance to shops/ bars and restaurants on Mississippi. Would definitely recommend!!

    Janis2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Centrally located in the hip, urban Mississippi district. Easy to get to freeways and downtown. Beautifully decorated and well-appointed space. Ronald was a wonderfully accommodating host. Great deal! Don't miss out!

    Shauna2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Super great location! Very walkable. Ron was super friendly and very accommodating. The space was perfect for two people. As a side note there are no doors on the bathroom, so it might be something to consider depending on who you are staying with.

    Sarah2016-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, a few blocks from Prost! and an assortment of food carts!

    Annie2016-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This little apartment was the perfect home base for our first visit to Portland. It was close to major roads, so we could quickly and easily get to any part of town. The apartment itself is in the basement of a really cool house. I was thankful that it was underground, because even though it was 94 degrees during our stay (and the apartment, like many NW homes, didn’t have central air) stayed a comfortable 70-74 degrees. The private entrance and ample street parking made it easy to come and go as we pleased. I also loved the open concept, stylish decor, and comfortable bed. A major plus for me, being 6’4”, was the fact that the shower head was high enough for me to shower comfortably (rare for old houses or many hotel rooms). Wayne was always very prompt with his responses and thorough with information. I would definitely recommend this space to friends and would 100% try to stay here again in the future.

This bright studio in the heart of Portland's historic Irvington neighborhood is not to be missed. Tree lined streets with big beautiful homes nestled in the heart of North East Portland. Comes with a full kitchen, a private bathroom, Wifi, cable tv, and a platform Full Bed with access to a hot tub in the back yard! Plus! Plenty of free street parking in front of our home if you have rented a car. A home for every travelers needs.
Arts-and-crafts architecture, handmade redwood tables, and a minimal but comfortable style give this bright studio a true Portland feeling. We always keep the kitchen and the bathroom stocked with the essentials. There is a table with high chairs in the kitchen, perfect for eating a home cooked meal. The Full bed lies under a North facing window, letting in lots of light throughout the day. The apartment is on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen. After a long day out on the town, you’ll come home to an always ready hot tub in the backyard, a plush full bed, a big TV, and blazingly fast Wi-Fi.
  • Really cute place, great location. Jason was very accommodating.

    Monica2015-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Irvington studio was as described! Great neighborhood. We walked to many of the places on Jason's recommended list (yoga, Whole Foods, bar). There was plenty of street parking available. Great stay!

    Nicole2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Jason was a great host. He was very accommodating and the whole experience went off without a hitch. The suite itself is very open and beautiful and the garden was a lovely addition. Everything was clean and inviting and I could not ask for a better stay. Thanks Jason!

    Nicholas2015-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • The unit was exactly as shown in the photos. Really beautiful neighborhood. Jason was very communicative and amenable. Only issue: we stayed there in January, and the first night was exceptionally cold for Portland in the winter. The only heat in the unit was a small space heater that didn't do a whole lot. It was freezing! The other nights were fine, though.

    Hugh2015-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great neighborhood right in the middle of Irvington. Close to everything, and all the amenities you would hope to have!

    Keith2016-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Jason's apartment. Its such a nice quiet neighborhood, close to other areas in the North of the city. The apartment has everything you need with the kitchen and bathroom. He has some great Portland guides to use, and the bikes were so useful around the city. Couldn't recommend it more!

    Alexa2015-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to stay! It’s quiet, within walking distance to several points of interest, and located in the charming Irvington neighborhood. This is the perfect place for two people wanting to explore Portland. Would definitely stay again with my wife.

  • Roland is an amazing host. He was very kind, generous, and flexible with my somewhat changing schedule. His home is beautiful and full of character, location was awesome, safe, and really beautiful. The room itself is perfect for a solo traveler, and very comfortable. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, Roland! I’d definitely return here upon coming back to Portland.

  • Great place, great price

    Junko2017-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • It's a nice big space with a private bath, both of which are very important. The stairs could be difficult for some, but I did fine. As I stated, there isn't a door on the room and you can see down the spiral stairs to the front door, so it felt a little odd, but my privacy was never compromised. Roland's house caretaker was there, but he was not invasive and helped get the fireplace going for me. Overall it was fine. The neighborhood is nice for walking. There is a Starbucks a nice, but short walk from the house. Good location for getting around to the fun places!

Overall livability is excellent as public transport and bike lanes are accessible and convenient. In summary, there is: public transportation, retail, restaurants, markets, bakeries, parks, rose gardens, nightlife, theaters, and live entertainment within walking distance and/or a few minutes ride.
  • Kurt and Nat were amazing hosts and the place is fantastic. One street off division street it was perfectly located near town but really quiet at night. They filled our fridge with olives, cheese and drinks and had a fully stocked pantry. They gave us some great tips about Portland and I would highly recommend staying at their place if you are visiting Portland.

    David2017-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Kurt and Nathalie's place was the perfect spot for the second leg of our Honeymoon! Unfortunately we didn't have the chance to meet Nathalie but Kurt was very welcoming and we had a good chat the day of our arrival. We didn't have too much interaction beyond that point, but mainly it was because we were go-go-go the entire week we stayed. Whenever we had questions they were fast to respond and had great recommendations. We loved having use of the driveway, a private entrance, key code to get into the house, etc. The suite above their garage is the perfect little spot, with the trees and the skylights. It reminded me of my grandparents cottage in northern Michigan. Loved it.

    Phil2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Kurt and Nathalie are fantastic hosts and we really enjoyed meeting them. The place is beautiful and well stocked. You'll really like it.

    Andy2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed the full kitchen and stocked pantry -- making breakfast in the morning before heading out to explore Portland was delightful. Bed was very comfortable. Shower/bath was good. Location is in a quiet, residential neighborhood and has plenty of good restaurants/bars close by. We had a great time on our trip!

    Dexter2017-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place was excellent! Very cute house in a cool neighborhood. Kurt and Nathalie went above and beyond as hosts. The place is stocked with everything you could need. We'd highly recommend their place.

    Sara2018-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Kurt was a great host. The space was very clean and bright. The neighborhood is very nice as well and is close to some great food spots like Pok Pok, Salt and Straw, Screen Door. The bed was super comfortable so I had a great sleep each night. Kurt was nice enough to keep an eye out for my packages that I had wanted to ship there. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely come back again the next time I am in Portland.

    Christopher2016-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at this sweet little studio... Great neighborhood (lots of great shops and restaurants within walking distance), easy off street parking, and a clean space with everything we needed. Kurt and Nathalie were very welcoming. They stocked the house with some fruit and breakfast items and checked in to make sure we didn't need anything throughout our stay (we ran into them in the yard most mornings as we were leaving for the day). They have a very energetic and friendly dog-- just something to note if you're not a dog person. You might get a few welcoming licks if you're hanging out in the yard. She didn't bother us. In fact, my 2.5 year old daughter adored her. Overall, great space. We'd stay here again.

Cute little Tiny House! It used to be our boys' fort when they were young, now it is a comfortable little retreat for adventurers exploring Portland!
Cute little back yard "granny flat" cottage located near Mt Tabor park in very desirable neighborhood! The cottage is "Portland Style" construction with excellent insulation (R30), new windows, etc.. Great host, free internet, parking, furnished living space that is quite private.. The cottage contains an upstairs bedroom & sitting area. Note: There are steep stairs, so please take that into account ~ if you have joint pain, etc. this might not be the best choice of places to stay... The QUEEN size mattress is new and comfortable. Downstairs there is a small kitchen with stove, microwave and under the counter fridge. Also downstairs is a full bath with ceramic tile shower. Coffee maker and freshly ground coffee provided in the cottage as well as complimentary muffins. At times a made to order hot breakfast is available, message me to see if it will be available during your stay :-D. Guests are welcome to use washer/dryer in main house. Guests have use of the back yard with fruit trees and some berries when in season. Also the cottage is within walking distance of Division street shops, Pizzicato pizza, the 52nd & Foster street Food Carts and much more. The # 4 bus is just a block and a half away, which can take passengers west directly downtown. The TRI-MET app or website is easy to use & can help you get you anywhere from the airport, to downtown, to Powells Books, The Chinese Garden, and so on.
South Tabor Neighborhood is a quiet eclectic little neighborhood with many avid gardners, friendly neighbors, and gobs of dog lovers. We have community get-togethers, work parties, and holiday celebrations! If you are used to neighborhoods where no one knows each other or even speaks to each other this is definitely NOT the neighborhood for you :-D
  • We had a great time at Lisa's cottage. It was small and cozy, just like we wanted. We were greeted with the lights on and a warm, sweet-smelling atmosphere. Lisa also provided us with breakfast fixings one morning and served us delicious breakfast paninis the next morning. The price was reasonable and I would stay there again.

  • The South Tabor Cottage is an amazing getaway near Mt. Tabor in Portland. Lisa is a terrific host and made us an amazing breakfast! I definitely recommend this cottage and would stay again! Thanks!

  • Had a great stay in the South Tabor Cottage. Lisa is a wonderful host, was quick in her communication and thought of all the details. On the day we arrived, we were greeted by the smell of cookies, and, as it was over 90 degrees, and she made sure to have the air on. Cottage had lots of amenities and breakfast was really good!

  • Lisa was amazing and the microhome is adorable. I live in Portland but wanted to give my boyfriend a Portland experience by staying here, and my expectations were happily met. Lisa was so warm and inviting to us, and so amazingly kind to our two annoying dogs. I felt bad that our puppy kept barking one night, but Lisa didn't mention it at all when she delivered her truly delicious breakfast- I'm not sure if that means the cabin has great sound proofing or if Lisa is just an incredibly gracious host, either way I'm impressed! The bed was so comfortable I would have gladly foregone sightseeing to stay in. The cabin was toasty warm despite the literally freezing temperature outside. And the kitchen was a nice feature that we unexpectedly ended up using one evening when we had to stay in with a sick pup. We had a great romantic holiday and would love to stay again- although I learned my lesson and will never travel without the crate, A.K.A. mobile doggy bedroom

    Kendra2014-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful, convenient and relaxing stay at Lisa's cottage! Lisa is a generous and responsive host and really made our visit to Portland special. The cottage was conveniently close to bus lines that could get us downtown in less than half and hour. It felt like a TARDIS, bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside! At no point did we feel cramped or confined, rather it was quite cozy and comfortable. The kitchen was great for making meals or preparing a picnic to enjoy on nearby Mt Tabor. It's a great way to experience Portland! Would love to visit again.

    Ross2013-07-30T00:00:00Z

Magic Barn, circa 1936, former sculpture studio restored by community artists with old growth barn wood, up-cycled furnishings, kitchen, claw foot bath, baby amenities, with a sculpture garden. Centrally located in the heart of a charming restaurant and boutique district; 3 blocks to both SE Hawthorne and Division St. 15 minutes to both the airport and downtown, there are 4 bus stops and rental bikes within 3 blocks, and ample street parking on our block. Natural cleaning products only.
Built with Love! Cannabis is legal in Oregon. You are welcome to responsibly smoke tobacco and cannabis outside only. There are many dispensaries within walking distance. We are permitted by the city of Portland to host ten guests at the Magic Barn and The Magic House which are adjacent. If you are a group of more than two, please send us an inquiry to see if we can accommodate the needs of your group. Family amenities are available upon request: portable crib, baby bath, high chair, etc. From 2000 to 2015 the Magic Barn was Todji's sculpture studio. Most of the sculptures in the sculpture garden were designed right here and are exhibited for everyone to experience. When Todji first moved into the main house as a renter, the Magic Barn was a crooked shed with broken windows, no electricity, water or heat and was filled with trash. Todji improved it and then purchased the property in 2004 when banks were giving loans to anybody, including self-employed emerging artists. Todji rented rooms to other artists while restoring the old house for fifteen years, while building a career as a fine art sculptor. During the summer of 2015 Todji designed and built the Magic Barn with the talented carpenters and fine art painters Theo Holdt and TJ Ravenwolf. The interior wood siding are salvaged old growth barn planks, and the ceiling is made of the original 1936 rafters and sheathing. Look at the outside walls to see the twist in the structure! TJ’s painting is hanging above the couch. TJ is native American from the Alaskan tribes of Koyukon Athabaskan and Muscogee Creek. TJ collected all of the natural pigments in the painting from areas around Oregon in prayer, and his prayer in painting now graces the Magic Barn. Todji and Gisele produce public art bronze sculpture monuments for US cities which you may already have seen, or that you may see one day. We employ local artists to do the cleaning and maintenance work at The Magic Barn and Magic House. Thank you for taking the time to read our story!
The Magic Barn is centrally located in one of the most charming and hip neighborhoods in Portland. With the center of both SE Hawthorne and SE Division St within 3 blocks, there is an abundance of restaurants, boutique browsing, grocery stores, neighborhood strolling, and park hiking options within walking distance. See a movie, or just step in to witness the beautiful and iconic McMenamin's Bagdad theater, accompanied by an incredible restaurant/bar/pool hall in the back called the "Back Stage Bar", at SE 37th and Hawthorne. It will give you a feel for classic Portland! We are minutes from Mt Tabor park which has a lovely forest with walking trails sitting upon a dormant volcano, and we are 45 minutes to the spectacular 600 foot tall Multnomah waterfall in the gorgeous Columbia River Gorge scenic area. Division is the new up and coming Southeast neighborhood. With lots of modern architecture, new restaurants and shops you will get a feel for the freshest vibe Portland has to offer. Here is a list to get you started: Restaurants: (The options are endless but here are a few popular favorites!) • Todji and Gisele's Magic Barn was a delightful and unique experience. Although it has a very Bohemian and exotic feel it was pristinely clean. The attention to detail in the design was remarkable, and the setting amongst Todji's sculptures was lovely. Todji's and Gisele were polite and helpful. We didn't see a lot of them... But that was fine. Guests need to know there are no basic food provisions apart from coffee but there are grocery stores not too far away and lots of places to eat.

  • This was our first Airbnb experience and it was beyond our wildest hopes and has made us an instant Airbnb fan. I am not a city girl, but we wanted to experience the very best of Portland within walking distance to restaurants, music and the fun funky vintage shops that Portland is famous for. I also needed a quiet tranquil place to rest as im here on a healing journey, and I couldn't have imagined finding the very best of both worlds the way that we did here. We were suddenly transported in the middle of this bustling life-filled city to an oasis of calm serenity. It is indeed a magic barn! The interior is this beautiful raw-rustic feel... Gorgeous repurposed wood that is combined with clean lines, simple, uncluttered, and an absolute artists dream.. And I woke up feeling like I was in Tuscany or the French countryside. The light pouring in through the skylights, and the way it hits the crystals on the chandelier casting rainbows through the room made the space feel just that much more magical. The bed, linens and pillows were highest quality, and the use of space was genius- small and quaint with just enough of everything you need and the artistry of the space was positively inspiring. As if it couldn't get any better, the hosts Todji and Giselle were amazing! They are the kindest couple and their story is inspiring and they are the kind of people that you will remember long after your visit is over. We are so grateful to you both for giving us such an unforgettable time in Portland. It will certainly not be our last trip and we will recommend you highly to all of our friends and family visiting Portland. With love from Rebekah and Justice

  • this place is exactly as pictured! even more amazing than I could have imagined. it was located in the coolest neighborhood between division and hawthorn, which in my opinion, are the best streets to walk down and find great food and drinks. it was quiet and cozy ...perfect after a long day of exploring Portland. I would def recommend this place to everyone. I'll be back.

  • My husband and I stayed at the Magic Barn for the last few nights of our honeymoon. It was a nice, cozy feel in the midst of a big city. We enjoyed the convenience of the location - we could walk most places we wanted to go. The natural sunlight in the sky lights was the best part!

  • The magic barn is a work of art, a place worthy of either cuddling up and staying in or using as a base for exploring Hawthorne, which is really delightful enough to be your entire Portland experience. Todji and Gisele's warm and welcoming spirit was there in the space as much as in their interactions with us. It's hard to imagine anywhere more wonderful for a Portland stay.

Think of a hostess who was born for this. Multiply by 10. The attention that greeted us at the door, the information she gave us about public transport on trips, about where to dine, where to rent a car for a good price and even where the gasoline was cheaper,They were precious. Cleaning the house, the good smell of a well-kept house, access to all the kitchen paraphernalia, even when cooked tapioca one for her, made us feel a pleasant like "I'm home." Could translate that stay in one word: Amazing. It seemed that we had already known of other lives. Thank you very much, Alleyn. We enjoyed even of you. I recommend to everyone as one of the best places to stay in Portland.

Dave was a very welcoming host and was happy to answer any questions we had about the area. We would love to stay here again on our next Portland visit and would recommend it to anybody.
