  • Lance was a welcoming host and we had a wonderful stay at the treehouse. The views were incredible and unforgettable. Our stay was serene and peaceful. We loved waking up to watching the sun rise each morning. We only stayed for two nights and wish we could have stayed longer. Lance told us about hikes around the neighborhood and we had such a fun time exploring. The neighborhood was beautiful. Our last morning we woke up early for a 10 hour drive home and Lance had coffee waiting for us. All in all we had a wonderful stay and Lance was an excellent host.

  • We only had a short time to stay at Lance's house, but it was awesome. The house is beautiful & easy to find. Coordinating with Lance and the meet up was smooth. We will definitely be back! And oh, the VIEW IS AMAZING!

  • I had a great time staying at Lance's house. He was a great host, and the house is a true marvel of engineering. The view of Portland was spectacular. I really enjoyed watching the aircraft flying into PDX at night. I look forward to a return trip at a future date. Thanks again Lance!

    Travis2015-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • The place was a gem. It is located on the hills above the city, and you get an unobstructed view all the way to my. Helena and Hood. To be clear to those who rent, the rental is for the entire downstairs area and Lance lives on the second level. Lance was great about communicating and gave us our space to enjoy our stay. He also made coffee for us in the morning and made us feel very welcome! Would definitely recommend.

Unique hand built cob cottage next to lg. pond w water feature. Lg. fenced and gated yard. Gentle, curving space-made from sand, straw, water and earth . Featured in multiple international publications. The floor is also earthen clay with added radiant heat. Beautiful natural light. It's truly a magical place.
It's a curvilinear earthen structure hand sculpted from water, sand, straw, and clay earth. It features a radial roof with a central pagoda-like skylight. When building the Cob, we used reclaimed and natural materials when ever possible. The insulation in the ceiling is made from pulverized reclaimed blue jeans and the floor is made from the same earthen clay. It has a Dutch door, so you can open the top part for additional ventilation. It also has air conditioning available in the warmer months and a radiant heat floor. The bed is a very comfortable double with a memory foam mattress topper. The bathroom for the cottage is in the main house, about 40 steps to the back door. Inside you’ll find a large sitting room and full kitchen as well as your bath with claw foot tub and shower. These spaces are shared with 2 Airbnb rooms in the house. If you find the bath busy, our full bath is available upstairs on the second floor.
We are located in a sweet older neighborhood in inner SE Portland, built around the turn of the century. The neighborhood is extremely walkable/bikeable, and just two blocks from one of Portland's great restaurant rows, filled with unique locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, food carts, pot shops, ice cream vendors, pizza joints, clothing retailers, yoga studios and yes, even an old-school hardware store.
  • This place is a gem. The little cottage is almost out of a fairytale and is very cute. Their garden is beautiful. They're very close to town and a couple minute walk to food. They neighborhood is fun to walk around and observe the different houses and neighborhoods. They neighborhood is also very friendly!!

  • Very cute place to stay. Warm and comfortable bed. A 2-minute walk to a fun street with good food options. Access to a clean bathroom

    Katherine2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The location, setting and comfort level were up there, at 8 out of 10. The cob cottage was very cool, I loved the details and the ambient floor heating. The yard has amazing landscaping with a pond and beautiful blooming flowers. The bed was extremely comfortable. Note to anyone that hasn't stayed in a small place before, this is cozy. Plenty of room for your overnight stuff, but no inside comfortable spot to hang out aside from the bed - which was fine except if you need to do any work. Wifi worked great. I appreciated the host to allow me to use the driveway to park instead of parking on the street. I unfortunately did not receive a texted or email set of instructions, including the code to get into the cottage before arriving. The host was responsive once I reached out and provided what I needed to know right away. The facilities for the cob were in the main house, and it was very comfortable feeling as the areas for guest use were sectioned off from the rest of the house via very tasteful drapes. Sometimes using the bathroom in a shared space is uncomfortable, but not here. The bathroom is a classical/whimsical/artistic beautifully crafted space that was very comfortable / functional. I would totally stay here again!

    Aaron2016-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a charming little earthen cob cottage in a great location in Portland. Walking distance to a cute street full of interesting shops and restaurants. The enclosed yard with fountain and pool add to a calming and quiet environment-we didn't hear any noise in this quiet residential area. The bed was very comfortable and there was air conditioning that we were grateful for-since it was an uncharacteristic 99 degrees in Portland. Very clean and unique. Nice patio and well lit. One does have to walk to the house to use the restroom, where there is a nice, private bathroom, shower in clawfoot tub, and sitting room with coffee and small fridge. We really enjoyed our stay and enjoyed a quick opportunity to talk with Jack and Chris who were extremely gracious and welcoming.

This wonderful, private little gem is just a few easy walking blocks from plentiful drinking, dining, dispensing, yoga & coffee spots. You will be one block from Woodlawn Park, 2 blocks from a bus and a 5 minute drive from the Alberta Shopping and Arts District. It's all so comfortably close by, but not close enough to disturb your relaxing, sweet retreat. Come have it all while living small in this tiny, artsy home away from home!
This space was built as a Model T Garage in 1926 behind a 1915 bungalow but it has had a face lift and has taken on a new life as a cozy, warm freestanding studio made mostly from reclaimed materials. A "tiny house" if you will, sweetly positioned between fruit trees and a garden sitting area. The sleeping loft comfortably sleeps two and there is a futon below the loft where one can enjoy a book while the other naps above. Occasionally you will hear the trains in the distance which adds a touch of nostalgia and you get to wake to the relaxing clucking and cooing of the neighborhood hens as this area has a nice spattering of urban farms and lots of mature trees. For your comfort, this as a "pet dander free" space. No pets, thanks. The table pictured here has been replaced with a "garden shed" counter that houses a small, removable basin sink. There is also a rustic, rough hewn armoire to hang clothes and tuck away your backpacks. The little kitchenette corner is stocked with utensils, a two burner cooktop, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee and a coffee press. The studio's setup is more akin to a cabin, and as many cabins go, there is no bathroom. You will be given a key to the main house so please feel comfortable enough to come in and use the facilities. By the way, it is insulated, well heated, and stocked with plenty of blankets so it is a wonderful, warm hideaway in the fall and winter months as well. Yep, snuggly wifi too. The yard is plentiful with flowers and fruit bearing trees (figs and delicious yellow plums) in the summertime, as well as an array of veggies in the gardens where you can sit amongst the trees and regroup after a hard day at Powells Books. It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine: -Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service -Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching -Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game -Grand Army Tavern, have some pork with your...pork : ) -Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back & late night too -P's & Q's Market serves yummy meals and a few grocery items -The Village Ballroom, for Square Dance and Special events -Uptown Cycles, sales and repairs -Portland Girl, spa day anyone? -Greener Grasses, well-rated dispensary -Koken Market, for almost any beer you want, snacks -Café Eleven, art, coffee, lunch & some pastries -Oregon Public House, the nation's 1st nonprofit pub -The Highwater Mark, rock pub with pool & hip hop on last Fridays -Tamale Boy, authentic & delicious with lots of outside seating -Bassato Gelato, 12 rotating flavors+bagels in the morning -HighWheel Mead, open Thurs-Sunday -(Seasonally) Woodlawn Farmer's Market at Woodlawn Triangle, Sat. 10-2 Downtown is a 15 minute drive. The Alberta Arts District is also just minutes away so you can hop on a bike and be right in the middle of the jam-packed Last Thursday Art Walk or make a day of it with shopping, dinner and some delicious ice cream from the infamous Salt & Straw. Then come "home" to your quieter retreat where you can just relax and lay in the hammock.....ahhhh. And as the area is well surrounded by beautiful, mature trees, you may decide to enjoy dinner in the love seat swing under the pergola and watch the evening sky. It is a wonderful theatre for watching small bats do their sky routine in the distance. Flying in? This spot is only 10 minutes from the airport. And while in Portland, you may want some wheels! Well, this location is very close to Zipcars and you can sign up with them or Car2go on their sites in advance of your stay. Check out Turo or Getaround to grab a vehicle to tool But if you want to explore the city on two wheels, Everybody Bike Rentals or Ebikes ( electric bike rentals) are the spots to hit first (10 min. by bus). They provide helmets and locks too! ***If you don't see the dates available on the calendar that you had hoped for or if you are traveling with more than two people, please check out my other listing (#95313) which is also a private studio at the same location. It is larger and complete with a private entry and bathroom. Just ask me! Parking is close and the livin' is pretty easy. So please get that profile completed, then contact me and come kick up your heels and stay a while! Oh! P.S. Please read the description, house rules and post a pic of you in your profile beforehand just so that everyone is on the same page. Much appreciated. Cheers!
  • This place was adorable and very clean. The host was incredibly friendly. We were not at all familiar with the area so she gave us great directions for walking to a strip of restaurants and shops. She also left some local papers for us with lots of events listed, though it was hard to pry ourselves away from this cozy spot. This is also a great place if you like cats. We were greeted by Hurricane, the neighborhood maine coon. Mamacita is a sweet cat who guards the front door. Just don't let the cats inside.

  • Andrée was a friendly and thoughtful host. She was very accommodating and quick to respond to all of my questions during my stay. Her rustic barn is such a warm and cozy place set in her unique and vibrant backyard setting. The bed was really comfortable and the room had all of the amenities you need besides the bathroom. I was slightly hesitant about the bathroom setup when booking, but it was truly no hassle. The location is about a 15 minute drive from downtown which made it a cheap uber ride (about $10-15 ride each way) and the public transit is really close. There are also some great cafes and restaurants close by. I really enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to explore Portland!

  • Stayed here a single night. The host was very nice and worked with our funky schedule. Barn is as described.

  • Very quaint and secluded enough but close to everything. Got great sleep :)

    Kat2017-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first trip to Portland and Andrée's home was true to the description--a perfectly cozy cabin to relax and to check out the sights and sounds of the city. She was an extremely welcoming and gracious host who gave us insider local info on restaurants and neighborhoods. We would definitely stay there again on our next visit.

    Melissa2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Andrée is a fantastic, personable, and warm human being. Staying with her was a treat. We were lucky enough to spend some time and get to know her before staying in her adorable mini house outside. This was all after she had been incredibly accommodating of our last minute booking and later than anticipated arrival. The bed was comfortable, and though there's no running water where you sleep it's very cozy and just what we needed. She provided water for us to drink and beer from the local brewery to try, and everything was cleaner and more presentable than the hotel room we'd stayed in about a week prior. The bathroom and shower are inside the main house which is no trouble at all especially because her shower has the most amazing water pressure I've experienced, I could've stayed in there for hours. I plan to stay with Andrée again if we ever make it back to Portland, but next time we'll use Apple maps instead of (Hidden by Airbnb) maps to avoid the NE vs N Bryant street confusion.

    Abigail2015-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • This tiny home is so dreamy. It's compact but comfortable. Andrée will go out of her way to make you feel at home. Truly couldn't ask for a better stay.

With lots of space and light, this studio has everything that makes a house feel like a home: a fireplace, a full kitchen, a queen bed, oak floors, handmade furniture, cable tv including HBO, and a private entrance.
This studio is a welcoming space in the center of an historic neighborhood that offers a unique perspective on the city of Portland. Ask me for in-depth info on where to go and what to see in the Irvington neighborhood, the Alberta Arts District, and other parts of Northeast Portland! Over the years, I’ve gotten to know quite a few incredible places to eat, drink, shop, and explore here. Located at the hub of some of Portland’s most interesting neighborhoods, this studio places the whole city at your fingertips. But adventure can be tiring, and the studio offers ample opportunity to put your feet up. Portland can get nippy at night, and a real wood fireplace, stocked with firewood from locally harvested and dried urban hardwood trees, is the perfect way to warm up and feel at home. The apartment has high ceilings and a great fireplace; it’s minimally decorated but has all the important things: a queen bed, a couch with a coffee table, a small desk, a dresser and extra shelves, and a kitchen table. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the essentials for cooking a real meal, and the bathroom always has towels, soap and shampoo. The space is located on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen.
The Irvington neighborhood, now only a ten minute bike ride from downtown, was once a trolley-car suburb to the just-fully-developed West side. Designated a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, Irvington is filled with early 20th century homes that have been preserved in their original states. Irvington has become a livable hub of Northeast Portland as a whole, with shops and restaurants of all kinds, within walking distance, surrounding the neighborhood. Irvington proper boasts more than a few community and culinary destinations of its own.
  • We loved everything about this place. I want to live here. Great character, classy furnishings, good neighborhood, fantastic restaurant recommendations. We came to explore Portland but couldn't bring ourselves to go outside. Highlight of the trip. Thanks for everything.

Jason's studio is perfectly situated in a little corner of NE Portland with many places in walking distance, yet also easily accessible by car, bike, and public transit. Laurelhurst is an historic old Portland neighborhood with beautiful homes, street trees and a huge park a few blocks away designed by the Olmsted's who designed Central Park in NYC. You will see how homes in Laurelhurst are each very different and unique from craftsmen with large porches to smaller bungalows with beautiful gardens.
  • Bob & Sue greeted us and gave a tour of their lovely home. The neighborhood is quiet, beautiful, and safe. The apartment was perfect for a week long stay. Centrally located to easily get to many of the great neighborhoods within minutes. The great selection of local magazines and travel books were a plus and helped us pick a few excursions around town. Our first AirBnB experience!

  • Sue and Bob’s beautiful brick home in Laurelhurst is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Portland. Their garden is lovely, the accommodations comfortable, and they are super friendly and helpful/informative. Many great little restaurants in and around Laurelhurst and a 3 minute walk to the bus stop to catch the #19 bus for a 25 minute drive into downtown Portland. We rented bikes there one day and took a great 14 mile loop ride along the river.

Everything you need is here at our brand new guesthouse loft: a luxurious, lofted queen bedroom; high ceilings with floods of natural light, a modern kitchen, full bath with heated tile, comfy sleeper sofa for extra guests, and Stumptown Coffee with organic cream. The loft rests at the back of the property, one block from bustling Division St, and short blocks from restaurants, coffeeshops, & the Woodsman Tavern, named “One of America’s Best Bars,” by Esquire Magazine.
The loft is located in our backyard in Southeast Portland. While we are only steps away if you need us, the space is very private. In fact, guests report that they forget they are in the middle of the city when they stay in our space! We live in a desirable and fun neighborhood, and parking can be tight! Guests usually find parking within a block of our house. At night or during busy times of the day, parking can be found within two short blocks. Guests may feel free to use our driveway for loading/unloading. We do not have a TV in the guesthouse, but offer excellent wifi access.
Our neighborhood has everything you will need, mostly within a five-minute walk! And if you want to visit a different part of the city, there is convenient public transportation around the corner. Check out excellent coffeeshops blocks away (Good Coffee and Stumptown), delicious and intimate restaurants (Bete Lukas, Mi Mero Mole, The Woodsman), or walk up to Mt. Tabor Park. If you're into yoga, there's an awesome space (Yoga Union) around the corner.
  • Everything about our experience with not only the place, but Brian and Laurel was fantastic! We were here for my daughter's wedding where I was not only mother of the bride but event designer. The guest house gave me a great place to work and organize and a respite from the chaos. Laurel and Brian were incredibly accommodating in helping reduce the stress of preparation. The decor-fabulous; The location-fabulous- great restaurants within walking distance; the hosts-fabulous!!!!

    Regina2016-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel & Brian's place is wonderful. Very clean & comfortable! The pictures don't quite do it justice. They are quick to respond and all directions were clear and straightforward. They went above and beyond to make sure us and our baby we're comfortable. The neighbourhood has lots of fun places to eat and the recommendations they provided were great! We would definitely stay here again next time we travel to Portland!

  • Laurel and Brian’s place is in a fantastic location. We used their apartment to film a short video and they were helpful in allowing us to get in early so that we could start shooting before sun set. Laurel was super nice to work with!

  • What a beautiful place! Timothy provided all the info needed to easily find it, get in & get around. We were able to walk out the front door & hop a bus to our music venue. The Bushel & Peck coffee & pastries are divine. The bed was comfy, the bathrooms across the hall convenient & everything tastefully decorated & sparkling clean. Timothy, you've developed a lovely & hip location there. Thanks for your hospitality! We'll definitely be back, a great stay in Portland.

    Jackie2015-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time staying in Timothy's air bnb. The room was really large and beautifully furnished. The bathrooms were clean and we could get coffee every morning from just down the hallway. We enjoyed hanging out on the roof terrace. The place is wonderfully situated near lots of great places to eat, including the Ned Ludd (which has a yummy pizza night on Monday's). Would highly recommend it!

  • Loved the location and the room here!

    Yvonne2017-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Timothy definitely brought Bali to Portland for us. I really really enjoyed my stay at Tim's place because it was located near everything that I needed. I got the king sized bedroom and it was big and cozy enough for us. The restroom and shower room were located across from our bedroom so it got noisy at some point but it wasn't too bad. I will definitely come back here next time with a group of friends so we can all stay together.

    Valerie2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Tim's place! The location was perfect; it was close to a lot of wonderful restaurants and it was very easy to get on a bus to downtown Portland. The bed was super comfortable and the room was nice and spacious. Tim was very clear with directions on how to get to the house and welcomed us when we first arrived. My only (small) issue during our stay was that the hallways and bathroom areas were pretty cold, but everything else was great.

    Colleen2016-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Timothy's Spacious bedroom was exactly what we needed. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. Being off the main road, it was a bit noisy but the location was quite convenient - near a bus stop, walking distance from some restaurants and right next to Bushel & Peck (an amazing bakery). The shared bathroom was clean and there was never a wait - complete with shampoo and conditioner. We had a great stay and would come back if we came back to the area.

    Melissa2015-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tim's place was very clean and comfortable. Everything was as described in the listing. The location had good cafes and restaurants nearby. The room had a dedicated sink, refrigerator and microwave which is quiet handy. Our host was very warm and informative on how to get around. We will definitely be back.

    Shalini2015-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Timothy was very accommodating even though we arrived so late from the airport. He was constantly in touch with us and that made the whole trip a lot easier! His place was clean and very comfortable.

In the heart of Portland's NW 23rd District, our place is nestled close to some of Portland's finest shops & cafes: Salt & Straw, Barista, and Fireside to name a few. The apartment has become a "destination" in itself due to the amazing natural light & Scandinavian interior design - even garnering its own hashtag on Instagram (#theaptupstairs).
"The Apartment Upstairs" is perfect for couples, urban adventurers, and creative travelers. Private bedroom outfitted with luxury Portuguese linen, plush Turkish cotton towels, waffle knit robes & slippers, & alpaca wool throws from our friends over at Parachute Home. • Beautiful house, nice clean room in a great neighbourhood

  • Staying at Ben's place was an amazing experience. The location of this apartment is perfect. The amount of unique and amazing restaurants nearby really help give you the Portland experience. We didn't have a car and it wasn't a problem at all. Additionally, this apartment had the cutest decor and greatest feel. It was really cozy and clean, along with Ben and his roommates being really helpful. It was a great stay, and I would definitely choose this place again!

    Jenna2016-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Ben was a great host! We rented the apartment for a bit over a week and Ben provided a nice list of places to visit in Portland and Seattle. The apartment was clean, comfy and so close to the popular alphabet district. The apartment provided clean towels as well as an ironing board which came in handy when you had to dress up for dinner. We also used the outdoor seating in the evenings to relax and sip on a glass of wine. Since we were there for a week we bought groceries and used the kitchen for a few meals, everything you need is provided. Ben was an excellent host and we do recommend this apartment.

    Javier2016-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay at the Apt. upstairs. Room is a bit tight but attention to detail with decor made up for it. Room was chilly due to a cold weather spell but Ben offered a room heater to accommodate. The space is beautiful and the host was extremely friendly. Location is unbeatable.

    Cara2017-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely clean and artistic place. Great apt mates and perfect central location in Portland. Benjamin was highly responsive and even checked in on me during my stay just in case I needed anything. I highly recommend the Apt Upstairs if you are visiting Portland.

  • What a charming AirBnb! Located right off of idyllic shopping district in Portland on 23rd Ave, this is the perfect spot for single travelers looking for quick access to great food, shopping, and downtown Portland. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Great location, cute place, and quiet with a comfortable bed.

  • Great location in the Nob Hill area of NW Portland's "Alphabet" District. Excellent restaurants and shops are near by and the street car service to downtown and the airport was very convenient. This neighborhood has charm! Our room was clean and our host was helpful. Parking a car can be challenging but we used the street car to get around.

My house is close to light rail and bus lines in a quiet and secure area. Many restaurants, coffee houses and bars are within walking distance and there is a large grocery store nearby in case you need provisions. There are parks within walking distance as is the Adidas campus. My place is good for solo adventurers and business travelers. There is another bedroom that can sleep two and I have an air mattress available.
Private home with 2 bedrooms in the upstairs of the house. Fully equipped kitchen with a laundry room. The stove is gas so please ask for instructions on how it works before using. The back yard is shady and there is a patio with a fireplace. The neighborhood is very quiet and easy to walk around in.
There are quite a few very good restaurants with in walking distance of the house with a sprinkling of coffee houses and bars. Well lit and quiet there are also a couple of parks with in a few blocks. Also a great grocery store is near by.
  • The private room with a twin bed at Sheilah's home was very clean and comfortable. The shared bathroom was very conveniently located just outside the room. The individual heater control allows you to be as warm or cold as preferred. Good location and a quiet place. The value for the money was great! I recommend staying at Sheilah's home.

    Ghisleli2017-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Soon after my initial request to book a stay, Sheilah responded (with an accepted response). She also responded quickly after my arrival in Portland, when I asked about gaining official entry to her premises. Sheilah's residence is located on a quiet, tree and nature strewn strip, as advertised. At the end of her block, within maybe 50 or so yards from her place, however, there are three bar/restaurant/evening meeting spots, and also a bus stop. A five minute walk can bring one to a convenience store (Plaid Pantry) and a pretty decent pizza shop (Atomic Pizza); a ten minute walk can bring one to a nice indie coffee shop (Blend), a Thai restaurant, a sushi spot, etc. A ten minute walk in the other direction can bring one to a MAX light rail station for transport north, or for transport south into Portland City Center. The pictures Sheila provided for the room are accurate, for certain. The color palette is mostly tones of grey in between end points of white and black. To me, the room felt very crisp and clean, in the very best sense. The provided bed is a twin bed, meaning the room probably suits best the solo, independent traveler/solo, independent explorer. I can't, off the top my head, recall the nightly booking cost but I think it was VERY VERY reasonable for all that one gains in return. If one is looking for a reasonably priced stay in Portland, not in City Center but with very easy access to City Center, if one is looking for access to some amenities in easy walking distance, if one is looking to feel somewhat situated in nature (think mossy trees and squirrels and squabbling crows) but with 'city' features in easy grasp, well, look no further, you've found your spot!

    Michael2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • My stay, while short, was very enjoyable. The house is within walking distance to the MAX station which was extremely beneficial for me. The room is very clean and the bathroom is stocked with amenities. Overall, Sheilah was a great host and I would recommend this for anyone looking for a place to stay in Portland!

    Emma2018-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Sheilah's house is surrounded by great restaurants and bars. It's a quiet neighborhood and I really enjoyed my stay. The house was clean at all times. Will definitely stay at her place if I'm in the area again!

  • Sheila’s place was stylish, clean, comfortable, and very reasonably priced. It is situated in a super walkable and beautiful neighborhood. This was absolutely perfect for my situation. Sheila is a top notch host and I highly recommend staying here.

  • This is in a fantastic area and Paul & Alisa are very helpful with suggestions for food and shopping! Very clean and comfy. We will definitely stay again!

  • What a great accommodation! Very clean, great communication, and freeway accessible. I would recommend to others but just read the listing carefully as the stove/range is not in use (I missed that detail!) Luckily I had prepared beforehand. There was ample parking and a heater in the room which was a big plus. Thanks so much Paul and Alisa! Lovely stay.

    Kelsey2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this place in Portland!! Would definitely stay here again when visiting!!

    Yesil2016-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The unit was very clean and comfortable - exactly as described and pictured. Parking was very easy to find and the house is in a great neighborhood just a block away from Alberta St, which is full of great little shops and restaurants. All the major attractions around Portland were just a short drive away as well. A little bit strange that the kitchen within the unit is off-limits, but otherwise would recommend the place to anyone wanting a clean and quiet place to stay whilst in Portland!

    Justine2016-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Paul & Alicia have a great location in Portland with is easy access to get in and out. Their room was clean and well maintained. The entrance was private so I didn't have to bother the hosts to get to my room and the directions were perfect. They took the right approach to creating a very nice hassle free environment. My only worry is getting a room next time I need one! Great job Paul & Alisa!

    Michael2017-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Paul & Alisa's place is located just a block from what's happening on Alberta street. Very convenient if you don't have a car- there's plenty of great places to eat, great bars, and felt like a safe neighborhood. Pretty short Lyft ride to downtown as well as the airport. The check-in/check-out was very easy, they even let me check in a little early as my flight came in before check-in time. I liked that you just needed a code to access the unit/room so you don't have to bring a key with you. There was a binder with clear instructions and the do/don'ts of my stay. The room itself was very clean, and very warm (it was so cold outside!). The bed was comfortable and there was enough closet space to hang my jacket and any clothes. I appreciated that the bathroom was cleaned every day and the slippers they provided as they had a no-shoes in the unit policy. I would definitely stay at Paul & Alisa's place again, and would recommend this place to anyone visiting Portland.

    Justin2017-12-29T00:00:00Z

Enjoy camping, while still being in the city, in a 1979 Chevy Van converted into a camper van. Up to two guests can stay in the van in my backyard, while also enjoying the patio, fire pit, and grill. Guests will also have full access to kitchen, bathroom & washer/dryer inside my apartment.
Van has solar string lights, a reading light, fan, USB & 12v power outlets, and storage under the bed. A sliding side door has an optional shade canopy that can be installed. Curtains offer privacy. A fire pit and patio are a few steps away. It isn't much, but my backyard is my sanctuary from the world, and I'd be happy to share it with guests.
In the charming and up and coming Montavilla neighborhood, five miles east of downtown Portland, near shops & restaurants and convenience stores.

One of five artist-made guest rooms in a recently renovated 1902-built hostel/B&B near Hawthorne, Belmont, Division & Downtown. Walking distance to variety of restaurants, bars, theaters, shops, grocery stores, parks & public transit. Memory-foam queen bed with overhanging hammock. Kitchen, dining room & living room access.
With an aesthetic created in part from salvaged strips of lumber from a small wood mill down the street, Mill Room was designed by me, Evan Cael, "Inn Keeper" at 1234 House. Sway on the canvas hammock hanging over a queen-size memory-foam bed. A couch and table also provide a place to relax. Mill Room is one of five guest rooms at 1234 House designed by a local artist. The house, built in 1902, was recently renovated from the ground up, with an eye toward art, community and providing a unique space for travelers to call home while visiting Portland.
1234 House is in the Buckman neighborhood of Southeast Portland, which is dense with homes 100-plus years old, and, like most of Portland, is experiencing a wave of new, modern consruction. 1234 House is a mile from the Willamette River, which separates the eastside of Portland and the westside city center. The house is nestled between Hawthorne Boulevard and Belmont Street, both lined with restaurants, bars, shops, theaters and music venues. A few blocks down the street is Col. Summers Park, a popular meet up spot to hang in the summer, especially on Monday Funday, and especially if you are down to play a mean game of dodgeball.
  • Evan and his mother were wonderful hosts, although I did not get the chance to interact much with them due to working all the time. It is an easy bus ride on the 14 or 15 downtown. Lots of restaurants and such on Hawthorne St just a very short walk away. The room was nice. Appreciated the window AC unit for the evenings. Only downside was shared bathroom and even that was not really a down as there was never a conflict over it and it was absolutely spotless.

    Lee2015-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I had a lovely time at Evan's place. Evan is a fantastic host and his home is beautiful and full of art. The room we stayed in was comfortable, clean, and cozy. The location is just a few blocks from Hawthorne and very walkable. I highly recommend staying here.

  • My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay in Evan's home. His home was lovely and we instantly felt welcomed. The location was ideal - we could easily walk around SE Portland to explore and grab meals. The bikes were a huge plus too! We would absolutely stay again.

  • Evan's home is a whimsically enveloping story of life and character, expressed by artistic design. I loved my stay, more than I had thought! It was the perfect amount of cozyness, friendliness, privacy, and generosity. The room was so spacious too! I would highly recommend any room in this house.

    Brittany2017-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Evan's place provided a unique and authentic experience for our stay in Portland. Interesting architecture and decor throughout the house and our room gave us the "real" we were looking for in our PDX experience. The hammock is key and the sun (when shining) lights up the room nicely. Evan was kind and generous with his time when needed and let us be when we needed privacy. Five star.

  • The room was very unique and beautifully designed. All the rooms in the house were booked the for the nights we were there but everyone was quiet and respectful. • Stephen's place is incredible! A wonderful room in a wonderful house with a wonderful host. Don't let the distance to the center put you off as the transport links are good and an all day ticket costs $5 (one way is $2.5). Stephen is able to offer lots of advice on where to go and how to get there. Definitely check out the breakfast place at the end of the road! Stay at Stephen's!

One of five artist-made guest rooms in a recently renovated 1902-built hostel/B&B near Hawthorne, Belmont, Division & Downtown. Walking distance to variety of restaurants, bars, theaters, shops, grocery stores, parks & public transit. LARGE ATTACHED PRIVATE BALCONY & SUN ROOM. Memory-foam queen bed. Custom Kitchen. Musical instruments.
Morel Room is a whimsical world designed and hand-painted by local artist Sivonna West. The room is full of lush details inspired by Northwest nature. Read a book in the over-sized chair in the attached sun room, or catch the sunset on the spacious, west-facing private balcony. Morel Room is one of five guest rooms at 1234 House designed by a local artist.
  • Evan's house is SO COOL! The room was really unusual and very comfortable. The bed was delicious! And Evan greeted me so warmly and scooped up my suitcase and carried it up the stairs for me! He walked me through the space and answered any questions. He introduced me to his mom and friends and I felt very comfortable right away. The house is in a great neighborhood with lots of interesting architecture and there were restaurants and cafes in every direction so there's everything you could want right nearby. I had a car, so downtown Portland was easily accessible and I could park on the street. I was so beat from the long drive when I arrived, but I plopped down in a huge comfy chair and enjoyed the sunset from my very own balcony. What a great place!

  • Very good

    robert2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed at Evan's house for one night. The location was great, easy access to restaurants and bars. Easy street parking. There is quite a few stairs to get to the front door which is difficult for luggage. We didn't get to meet Evan, but access was easy with door codes. It felt odd just walking into a house with no greeting, we stood in the entry way not knowing if we should find someone or just come right in to find our room. The rooms are really cool and very clean. Awesome artwork everywhere! Comfy bed. Our favorite feature was the private balcony and sunroom!

    Adam2015-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • 1234 house is my Portland home, and Evan is the most thoughtful and attentive host! This is the second time my friend and I have stayed there, and both times have been excellent. It's such a homey and comfortable house and check in is so easy. When Evan is around, he's a joy to hang with. This time we stayed in Morel room, and absolutely loved the balcony in addition to our awesome room. Thank you Evan, you're the best!!

    Julie2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • I could not recommend Evan's Airbnb more highly. It is clean, comfortable, well-located, spacious, and Evan is a gracious and personable host.

  • Evan and his mother were very social and made me feel right at home as soon as I walked through the door. The access to bikes made it easy to travel around town. The house was located in a nice neighborhood. I would definitely stay hear again.

  • I really enjoyed my stay at Nate's house. He was really accommodating even before I arrived at the location by granting a request change about my stay. The instructions was clear and simple for checking in and out, and house rules dos and donts. The whole house was generally clean and tidy especially the room I was staying at. I would stay again if it's available when I come back to visit Portland. Thanks Nate and take good care of Lucky.

    Jc2018-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • You get what you pay for. Nate is accommodating however the room was dirty. The floors didn't seem as if they had been swept/mopped recently, and the bed had particles/bits in it that made me think the sheets weren't fresh. There's only one outlet which was a little inconvenient. Didn't love the Q-tip sticking out of the wall or the cobweb in the bathroom. The dog is sweet! All in all, if you just need a place to stay, this will do. I was pretty happy to pack up and leave though.

    Courtney2018-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Nate's place was everything I hoped for, and more! The neighborhood is great, neighbors are nice and the place was clean, quiet and comfy! Those beds were super soft!

  • A nice and quiet space with a laid back vibe, one cool dog, and an awesome host! Close to a main road, close to PDX, plenty of parking on the street, and lots of conveniences nearby within walking distance. Old Town Brewery right across the street is an awesome place to eat and grab a craft beer along with a 7-Eleven on the corner for those quick little things. Nate is a very helpful and friendly host who helped me on my first time using this service, and his dog Lucky is very friendly and laid back! Great place to stay in Portland!

Live the Portlandia life here at Beit Shlomo, our Victorian / Bohemian home and yours in glorious southeast PDX. Walk to coffee shops, parks, restaurants, bars, local brewpubs, Powell's Books, and more. Hawthorne is Portland's old-school hippie neighborhood - we've got the homemade granola to prove it. :-) Also Eastern Rm: www.airbnb.com/rooms/7247104; Green Rm: www.airbnb.com/rooms/7247786; A: www.airbnb.com/rooms/24580357 B: www.airbnb.com/rooms/24580597; C: www.airbnb.com/rooms/24580811.
The Boho Bunk Room is a Euro-hostel / urban kibbutz - style shared space decorated with a riot of color in our bohemian old Victorian home just a few blocks from Hawthorne, southeast Portland's mellow hippie haven. This room is just off the front entryway, which is very convenient, but does mean you will hear hallway noise. Think Euro style hostel meets Writer's Retreat. Your room has a refrigerator and a small selection of locally made comestibles for breakfast or any time, including our famous homemade granola, local alternative milk, and locally roasted coffee. (Also check out the Eastern Room: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/7247104 and the Green Room: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/7247786.)
Our little part of southeast Portland is so special. Walk to two huge parks or any number of coffee houses, restaurants, or bars. New Seasons Market is available for all of your Portlandia grocery needs, and we're even pretty close to both the airport and downtown. We're on several major bus lines, so getting around is easy. Please ask for recommendations! We try to stay up-to-date on the best yoga studios, newest kava bars, and latest vegan treats.
  • Fortis and Katherine were awesome hosts and their place was perfect! Fortis met me at check-in and gave me the grand tour plus made recommendations for local spots within walking distance (there are many) and even stocked my mini-fridge with snacks! The room was cozy and had everything I needed. I will definitely stay here again when I come back to Portland.

    Michele2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • My room and the house were exactly as expected: vibrant, clean, accessible. The house was located right next to the #15 bus line which made getting around extremely easy. The neighborhood was friendly, safe, clean and had lots of good food close by. Fortis was such a kind and generous host. I will absolutely be returning to stay during my next visit to Portland!

    Amelia2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Hippie Haven is great! I enjoyed my stay at this lovely home.

    Susan2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, handy for the Bohemian side of Portland. I would strongly recommend this as a stop over, cosy room, was perfect.

    Nick2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint and comfy bedroom that allowed a 10-15 minute walk from the popular Hawethorne street stores and food shops. Perfect location if you don't want to be downtown but want access to public transportation. You basically sit in the middle of two main bus routes that run along 2 popular streets. Fortis greeted me very warmly when I first arrived, and I had a fantastic first night in Portland! If you haven't tried acro-yoga, see if Fortis is going to a class, it's definitely worth it! Their family was a pleasure to meet and get to know for the short time I stayed with them. Thank you and hope to see you again when I'm next in Portland!

  • Probably my favorite airbnb experience ever! Great and friendly hosts with a nice home in a super wonderful area. Would definitely stay again.

    Clifford2016-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful home in a great neighborhood. The hosts are friendly and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here but the shared bathroom proved to be a challenge. I had to wait for 1.5 hours one day and 2 hours the next to get a shower; the delays caused me to miss several scheduled activities.

    Debby2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Katherine & Fortis' place was adorable! Fortis met me upon arrival and showed me the ropes; took me on a tour of the house and gave me some information on the neighborhood, which was super helpful! The room I stayed in (on the lower level, conveniently located by the entrance) was so cozy and stocked with snacks, breakfast items and cannibas treats. The neighborhood is filled with delicious food options, cute vintage shops and awesome bars. I had a great time at their place and would definitely stay again!

Safe, residential, tree-lined street in Portland's hottest neighborhood! Lovely and quiet, but just a few blocks from "restaurant row" (Division St.)
  • A great little place in a great Portland Neighborhood. We were there on a 90 degree day in Portland and although there is no AC the openable skylights released the hot air. Heather was great and happy to talk about anything Portland on the comfy patio furniture. I will certainly be back again.

    Arthur2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, clean, great location. It was quiet and we had no issues — we enjoyed our stay!

    Anna2018-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The space was absolutely wonderful! So comfortable and cozy, plus heather was an excellent communicator and made sure everything was in order. Overall, we had an amazing time spent in the space and would recommend to anyone visiting! We certainly will be back again soon.

    Kaylee2018-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This space is lovely. It is exactly what it claims to be, a charming garden cottage (and would have been a romantic spot if I'd had my husband with me). It is outfitted perfectly, super clean, and spacious. Heather communicated with me before arrival and gave clear and easy instructions for getting into the back yard and into the house. The location, too, is perfect. Central to everything east side, and easy to public transport over the river.

    Monica2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Heather was a wonderful host, very helpful!

    Christina2018-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay! Heather was uber responsive to anything we needed and the cottage was great and in a fantastic neighborhood. This was our first visit to Portland, so we didn't really know one area from the other until we arrived - jackpot! Tons of places to walk to only a few blocks away (read: Blue Star Donuts) and easy driving and quick bus access to other parts of the city. The cottage space had everything we needed to relax after long days of exploring the city - bluetooth speaker, coffee/water/snacks and guidebooks for more ideas! Thanks for everything Heather!

    Sarah2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Heather was very accommodating. I was in town to visit my son, so I had a built-in Portland guide, but everyone commented in her guestbook about how helpful she was in making suggestions and recommendations. The little backyard cottage is adorable, very clean, and quiet. The double sizes bed is very comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Heather's place again!

    Kerstin2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Heather was great. She contacted us right away and welcomed us when we arrived. The cottage is in a beautiful neighborhood close to shops, bars, and restaurants. The bus to downtown is close. I would definitely recommend it and would stay again if in the area.

Located on a residential street, you will sleep like a baby!
  • It is a basement but if you are fine with staying in a basement it is the most comfortable basement you can imagine. It almost feels like a suite with a dressing area, a large TV and a veryvery comfy bed. Jennifer provides shampoos and all the stuff you might need even earplugs because the house is made of wood and you shouldn't wake up from her flatmate coming home from work late. Jennifer is very helpful giving you advice what to do in Portland which is a lot if you are into eating and/or beer. It is almost a religion there. Don't feel scared by Jack the German Shepherd. He is still very young and playful. Jennifer's place is not in the city center but there are good bus connections to different neighborhoods and Downtown within a ten minute walk. The busy hip Mississippi Avenue is about 15 minutes away Downtown about 30. There is a cool Portlandia Grocery Store nearby selling everything including meals and local beers. But who wants to drink at home if you can have it from tap in on of the fantastic Brewpubs around?

    David2017-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer’s place is an absolute must. We greatly enjoyed our stay. The home is cozy, stylish, and unique. Jennifer was friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Jennifer has been super helpful with everything. She has made my stay super pleasant and it was great to chat with her while I was in the house. The room is cozy and the bed is really comfy. I had the best sleep of my USA trip!

  • I enjoyed my second trip to Jennifer's home, again her place is comfortable and very welcoming! I look forward to future trips here :)

    Andre2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's house was homey, decorated funky and extremely comfortable. Both her and her roommate were very welcoming. We felt right at home for the two nights we stayed. Also, if you are into dogs Kye (her roommate) has a beautiful and very playful German shepherd. If you happen to scroll by her place, check it and book it! You'll love it 😊

    Giovanna2017-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot if you're okay with a shared bathroom scenario. Lots of nice touches to the space including TV, DVDs, video games, a fan, comfy bed, heated toilet seat. The room is a little on the small side, but fine for a group of two. It felt safe and secure.

    Joel2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Bring a few extra blankets for the bed, which is super comfy! I did love the faux fur blanket! There is a separate entrance/exit, which is convenient. Jennifer seems to know a lot about the Portland culture. Since I was in the area for an athletic event, I didn't turn to her for advice on restaurants, night life, etc. but I am sure she can offer great suggestions!

    holly2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's place was awesome! Very cozy and relaxed, yet close to night life and awesome food, etc. Her house was beautiful and you could tell she has put a lot of hard work into making it that way! From a possible late check in, to giving us advice on what to do, she was very accommodating and helpful! Her roommate, Kai, and Jack (the German Shepherd) were very sweet as well. Would definitely book again!! I wish we had more time to stay longer. Highly recommended!!

Large master bedroom with a queen size bed and a private bathroom. We do have two cats and one dog who really love attention so you must love animals if you would like to stay here. There is also a second Airbnb room in the house so it is possible there could be other guests at the same time as you.
Free coffee tea and oatmeal for breakfast. Lots of love and cuddle from the pets. We do have a spiral staircase so you must be able to walk up the stairs comfortably if you want to stay here.
We are located in the jade District of Portland which is essentially like a Chinatown. We are surrounded by amazing Asian restaurants and markets. Only five minutes away is the Montavilla neighborhood, and 10 minutes away is the division Street shopping as well as Hawthorne Street. By car we are 15 min away from downtown.
  • Cute room and private bath made it feel private. Kyra provided a lot of thoughtful touches to the room that made it even more comfortable! I would stay again, especially for the value!

    Diana2018-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot for a good night's rest - the bed is FANTASTIC - after a long drive. Kyra is very responsive and helpful. Quiet neighborhood, easy to get across town. Plus a visit by the black kitty in the morning made us feel very much at home!

    Jane2018-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great place convenient location

    Julia2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Worth the stay for the bed alone. Most comfortable bed I've slept in during the last few months. Hosts are very friendly. Their two cats and dogs are super friendly. One of the cats is very inquisitive and playful, and loved knocking some of my items off the bedside table (which I could have avoided by closing the door. The cat was too cute for me.) Great spot!

    Cameron2018-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • House is a little bit hard to find at night, especially when it’s raining. The room is actually on the third floor. You have to climb the spiral stairs then additional stairs in the house to the upper level for your room. There were two cats and one dog in the house. You will have interaction with them. Due to the pets, the carpet has some stains but overall was pretty clean. You can take hot shower but for some reason the water will gradually get cold (lukewarm) and can’t get it to hotter temperature again, unless you turn it off and wait. Cats were super cute, but didn’t expect they would be on your bed waiting for you. You can keep the cats out of the room if you want, but they were friendly and fun to play with. This would be a super nice place for a cat lover. Kyra was super nice, you can use the kitchen and also have your own small freezer to use.

    Jeny2018-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Really cozy private room with attached bathroom. A short drive from the airport (so nice since we ended up landing late). Kyra is super responsive and was very flexible with check in time - initially we wanted to check in in the morning, but then we missed our flight and ending up coming near midnight. Kyra didn't have an issue with the change and was there to let us in even though it was so late. We were only there for a night's sleep, but it was a convenient, quiet, and clean place to stay.

    Carolyn2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Julian & Kyra are great - well worth the stay. Thanks!

    Charles2018-03-21T00:00:00Z

Welcome to Casita Sarita, a beautiful light-filled studio in the heart of SE Portland! Please make yourself at home, relax, and rejuvenate. On site massage available (and recommended!). I look forward to meeting you!
Well it is the biggest studio apartment I've ever seen! Lots of windows let in the light, and the trees provide shade and lovely breeze that flows throughout. A brand new king size bed, a little sitting area with vintage couch, kitchenette with fridge, coffee and tea provided, and a big deep bathtub, private rooftop patio and onsite massage are some of the highlights. I have decorated the space with things I've collected over time and on adventures of my own. Make yourself at home!
Oh there is so much to do in this neighborhood! Just on this corner is Double Dragon Bahn Mi sandwiches (delish!), Apex, a watering hole with craft beers and outdoor seating galore (great people watching), Beermongers, a bottle shop where you can drink there or take beers to go, Genies Resaturant, great for breakfast or lunch, Pine State Biscuits for breakfast also, Los Gorditos, a taqueria, a couple coffee shop choices, a vegan restaurant, a tattoo shop, a hair salon, a chiropractor, and much more!! Walking distance to food, drinks, and shopping of all kinds on Division, Clinton, and Hawthorne streets. I've lived in Portland for 19 years so I have lots of suggestions on restaurants, food carts, bars, music venues, and excursions. Bicycle rental also close by, and the Spring Water Bike Trail is maybe a half mile away. Downtown is just across the bridges, about a 10 min ride. I have walking maps, and hiking books available too.
  • The key word is wonderful. It was a wonderful first-visit to Portland, and we would not have explored all the wonderful restaurants and beautiful neighborhoods in the southeast area, had we not stayed at this location. The accommodations were great - very spacious and very cool, all made possible by Sarah's quick responses and great recommendations. I doubt a more convenient location could be found. Wonderful!

  • My husband and I had a wonderful stay at casita sarita! The space was cozy and clean, and the bed was super comfy. Sarah is a great host and we really enjoyed our time in PDX. We would definitely recommend to friends. Thank you, Sarah for allowing us to stay in your awesome place!!

    Claire2015-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Casita Sarita is just as lovely as the pictures indicate. Sarah is easy to communicate with, and gracious, and check-in was seamless. The neighborhood has just an embarrassment of riches to offer, both in terms of its own scene and its proximity to everything else. If you're noise-sensitive, you might struggle here. I of course base this on my own brief stay, which might have had as much to do with timing as anything else, but the walls are thin here, and there was lots o' entertaining, and there's a fair amount of street noise to boot. I will mention that I was in a headspace where I just wanted to chill, and this just wasn't the time/place for it. So it goes. If you're not averse to an urban soundtrack, and you're looking to steep yourself in beautiful surroundings in a convenient Portland neighborhood that's full of character, this is a great place for you to stay. Enjoy!

  • This place was perfect! Great food and drink everywhere and easy access to get to other neighborhoods. The place was super clean and comfortable and I'll absolutely stay here again.

  • This is an amazing place! Nice full size bed. In walking distance of a Vietnamese shopping center which was really fun! Clean shower and very quiet and private

    Elizabeth2018-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • The room was very clean, and the checkin instructions were thorough and easy to follow. The house was walkable to a bus stop, as well as to a bakery and some restaurants. However, a few issues with the listing/stay: 1) the bed is a full, not a queen as listed (which can be an issue for taller people like it was for us); 2) the bathroom was shared with the owner's son (listed as private); 3) we were woken up early on a weekend by the owner's son, who didn't have his key and did not stop ringing the doorbell until the door was opened We never met Andres, but our stay was mostly smooth.

    Veronica2018-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was a cozy, clean and quiet room, really nice if you need to work or want some peace. The place is not near downtown but buses and trains are 5-10 minutes from the house. Andrés was really nice and fast responding messages. Thanks!

    Rocío2017-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • The place is very clean. Although we didn't meet Andres in person, he was very friendly and quick to reply to our messages. The only thing will be the street light right outside the room and the blinds couldn't block all lights.

    Daniel2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great Time, super easy

    Maximillian2017-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • A nice clean room to crash in. Easy access to bus/train. Andres has a very easy check in process and was always responsive. A variety of food options around the room as well.

    Brian2018-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Andres was my first experience with AirBNB, and overall a very excellent experience. The check in process was simple, the place easy to find, and I knew everything I needed to know prior to arriving. The room itself was comfortable, very well kept, and had plenty of extra blankets and pillows. As a host, Andres was very polite, friendly, communicative, and hospitable. He also asked me on my last day if there was anything he should be doing differently, which tells me he really cares about his guests' experiences. Overall I had an exceptionally positive time staying with Andres and I would recommend this room to anyone!

    Riley2018-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • It was clean and homey room with super nice. Every thing was awesome! I really enjoy staying there. It took 30~40min to downtown by bus.

This room is just off the front entryway, which is very convenient, but does mean you will hear hallway noise. Your room has a refrigerator and a small selection of locally made comestibles for breakfast or any time, including our famous homemade granola, farm-fresh milk, and locally roasted coffee. Loaded with character, a classic 1920's bungalow, in the heart of all the best things this city has to offer. Within walking distance of many of the best places to eat and drink for meat eaters, vegans and every food between. As hosts, we treat your experience with little touches like quality bedding, plush towels, snacks, coffee and us as hosts! We are are Portland natives and give GREAT tips on experiencing Portland. Check-in is from 6pm+ but check-out is not until 3pm. Please read profile.
We try to make your stay like a cross between staying in an old school B+B where the owners were a positive part of your experience and visiting old friends who are happy to see you but give you all the space you need. We are Portland natives who take hosting very seriously. We understand that by staying in a shared space, we are part of your adventure and do our best to make you feel welcome and when needed, share our knowlege of the city so you can spend less time reading reviews and more time exploring. We truly believe that a key to happiness and good trip is by ending and starting your day wrapped in comfort! The room you will stay in has a queen sized Serta mattress with a lovely king sized hypoallergenic down comforter, hypoallergenic down pillows, additional down-alternative pillows, and organic cotton sheets from West Elm. The room you'll stay in is on the small side, but is comfortably decorated with eclectic but useful antiques. The room is appointed with a desk (once belonged to the owner of the best ice cream shop in Portland - a heart filled story of how it came to be mine-ask!), a comfortable bed, a closet with hangers and shelves, a full length mirror, an alarm clock, random books, and an assortment of Portland Magazine and local maps. We also keep a pitcher of charcoal filtered water in your room with cups to help keep you hydrated. Because we think being hungry is miserable and it is unfair that you might see us eating or cooking, we have dedicated a snack bar stocked with coffee, tea, granola bars, yogurt, microwave popcorn, fizzy water, and a selection of fruit and chips just for you! In the summer we have a nice window air conditioning unit for your room and AC throughout the main rooms of the house. Many businesses and houses in Portland do not have air conditioning. The last few summers have had long stretches of upper 90 degree heat with humidity. (We highly recommend that you make sure the home you choose has AC if you are visiting in July or August, especially.) We do tend to keep the house on the cool side year round, but have a lovely radiant space heater and fan in your closet so you can make your room warmer or pump fresh air in. The bathroom is shared with us, but we give you and your guest priority during the stay. Just give us a heads up if you need it at a specific time and we'll adapt. We have lovely plush towels and a special shelf for you to leave your to toiletries. The shower has great hot water, and blow dryer is available for use.
We are located in a classic Portland neighborhood with big old houses, giant trees, gardens, and even chickens - it is a real neighborhood where people know each other and spend time outside. The neighborhood is sandwiched between the bustling Hawthorne and Belmont shopping districts and is just a 1.2 miles from downtown. Walk just three short blocks in either direction and you'll find yourself in the midst of boutiques, bars, and restaurants to stroll around in. I can recommend more places than you can probably visit that I truly love going to in that area. There is even a grocery store just three blocks away. If you like good food... even the dive bars have good food in Portland. Your stomach will pop before you can try even a fraction of the places within a one mile radius of our home. Let us know what you're in to and we can suggest places that match your style and taste. There are a lot of vegetarian and vegan options within walking distance of our home. And if meat is your thing - fantastic grass fed burgers and BBQ!
  • I cannot say enough wonderful things about my stay! I booked at the very last minute and they were very responsive and had great communication. The house is gorgeous, amazing porch, sweet dog, and the bed was so cozy. Miranda goes out of her way to think of absolutely everything you could need- before you even think of it! I had a bit of a fiasco where I lost my keys in an Uber... I don't know what I would have done without the help and understanding of Miranda and her partner Sam. What could have been a terrible weekend ended up being wonderful because of the kindness and generosity they showed. Anyone would be lucky to book with them!

    Cyndi2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • If this place is available BOOK IT! Miranda is the most thoughtful host and is gracious with tips and snacks. The house itself is in the perfect location and in walking distance of bars/food.

  • Miranda is an incredibly kind, thoughtful and helpful hostess. Great stay! Recommend.

    Aly2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Miranda is an amazing host! The room we stayed in was incredibly comfortable, check in/out was a breeze, and the array of snacks and other amenities was a wonderful touch of hospitality. Miranda has extensive knowledge of the area for anything you could want; her brunch and coffee suggestions helped us find some awesome places! We will definitely come back the next time we stay in Portland!

    Tammy2018-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter and her friend stayed at Miranda's place and they loved it. They said both Miranda and Sam were "very friendly and helpful", and made them "feel at home". She added: "when we asked for local recommendations Miranda gave very in-depth suggestions which was incredibly helpful". Miranda kindly offered the girls "basic breakfast items such as yogurt, fruit and tea/coffee" the morning they checked-out. The place is in a great location, close to restaurants, bars, and bus routes that go downtown. It is in a quiet neighborhood. My daughter says she: "would definitely stay with Miranda and Sam again during [her] next visit to Portland."

    Elena2018-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Miranda was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in my several years traveling around the world using AirBnB. Hospitable, knowledgeable, helpful, accommodating... Engaging conversation, cozy home, perfect little touches that made me feel a welcomed friend in their home. If you like dogs, you will fall in love with Winston. The location is great, as I could easily get around by walking or by bus, but even the neighborhood just a few blocks away (SE Belmont) is good on its own. If you get a chance to stay with them, do it!

    Eduardo2018-02-20T00:00:00Z

  • Alan was very nice, outgoing and welcoming and wanted to make sure I had a comfortable stay at his home. This master suite is large, clean and tastefully decorated. There was water, snacks and fruit welcoming me when I got there. Alan also has a very nice collection of Local/Portland/Oregon magazines laid out for his guests to check out, something I very much appreciated. Despite this home being very close to the quite noisy freeway I have to say I slept surprisingly well in the very comfortable bed. For city lovers this place is perfect....... I would love to hang out with Alan again, but for me this location is a bit too close to the traffic for me to consider another visit. Cheers Ms V.

  • Alan was as friendly as can be! He was very accommodating and it was an easy to get into the house. The location is exactly as described (a 10 minute drive to DT Portland). Alan provided everything we needed and would recommend this place to anyone looking to visit Portland. :)

  • The pictures definitely do not do this place justice. It is about double what the pictures make it seem and it is such a bargain! Alan was wonderful and so nice. He had everything I could ever need and I felt very comfortable and welcome the entire time I was there. If I ever visit Portland again, I will definitely be back here!

    Kaela2016-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • From check in to check out Alan was professional and very hospitable. The room was very clean and private. Since I was new to Portland Alan offered many suggestions in which I took him up on. My stay was excellent and highly recommend this place.

  • If you're looking for something private, easy access, and an amazing host... this is the room for you. You get the entire upstairs to yourself. Alan was quick to respond and made us feel like we were at home. All you need to do is pack your clothes and all the essentials are practically provided for you. The night before our trip, Alan had messaged me telling me all the little details I would need to have an easy arrival. He'll provide you privacy if you please or if you'd like some company, he's there to have a beer with you! Probably one of the best Airbnb's I've ever stayed at.

Its an easy walk to Reed College and the Woodstock district from my place and not far from Hawthorne and Belmont districts. You will find the room cozy, comfortable and private. Door even locks with a skeleton key! Queen bed with fresh white linens. Bath down the hall. Commons well stocked with breakfast items and furnished with a breakfast table, Keurig, toaster and tea kettle Two blocks from bike route. I have bikes! Three bus lines within 5-10 minute walk and 20 min. walk to MAX light rail.
I'm about to begin hosting my third season on Airbnb Portland and very exited to introduce a few new amenities to my guests! Both my rooms will have new linens including cozy comforters with duvet covers and new fluffy towels for the bathroom. I will be putting a breakfast nook table in the commons where my guests enjoy light breakfast items I provide. I'm adding a toaster and replacing the Keurig and electric kettle with new and improved models! I plan on doing more baking this year for my guests. Who knows what else I might decide to add as the season progresses. I'm excited to host again this year and visit with returning guests and meet new folks from far and wide. As always my guests will have plenty of room to spread out on the second story in my comfortable, warm and inviting home. This is one of two rooms I am making available to my guests. Both rooms are private but please keep in mind that there may be another guest down the hall and also sharing the bath. Both rooms have closets and dressers so feel free to unpack and get comfy. There is a mini fridge for your cold beverages and also a Keurig and electric tea kettle. I keep the breakfast bar here in the Commons room stocked with fresh fruit, hot cereal and several other breakfast items. Hi speed Wi-fi available for watching Netflix etc. but no access to cable television or even a television! So please bring your laptop. Both rooms have queen beds with mattress toppers, cotton sheets and warm blankets with lots of pillows. The bathroom has been completely remodeled and wait until you get in the shower with its multiple shower heads and shower bar!
The Historic Woodstock neighborhood with its shops, restaurants, tap room and coffee houses are a short walk away. Walk to the heart of Reed College along the Reed Canyon wildlife trail. Check out New Seasons with its rooftop bar. Trader Joe's, Starbucks and two beautiful parks all a few minutes walk away. Pretty much everything you might need is within walking distance and if its not the bus or light rail can get you there.
  • Kate was a fantastic host. Her place was extremely clean, quiet, and exactly as advertised. She even made banana bread and had other snacks/coffee for us. 10/10.

  • Kate is a great host, super friendly & inviting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at her home, lovely historic house with tons of good renovation. Nice decor, awesome shower, always stocked fridge, and a beautiful backyard. Kate was always helpful with tons of suggestions, very thoughtful with every detail of the stay, particularly the nice common area with the fridge always stocked with water, juice, fruits, and especially her homemade banana bread. Loved our host and our stay there, even got to spend time with her awesome pups!

Walking distance to A+ dining, pubs, grocery, and music between historic Mississippi and Williams Avenues. Three blocks to main transit lines; 12-25 mins to Convention/Moda Center, Pearl, and Downtown, respectively. Small home with a relaxing summer backyard and a chill vibe. Solo travelers only. Well-behaved pets allowed. I welcome guests regardless of race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
My home is small, but comfortable. The private guest room is approximately 75 square feet (7.5 square meters) with a single, twin-sized daybed and a small nightstand. There is also a closet with hangers, an iron/ironing board, and a TV with a Roku. The bathroom is shared (with me) and has a vintage clawfoot-shower combo. (Note, if mobility is an issue for you, my setup might not be ideal.) Kitchen and laundry are available for use.
I live in the fast-growing and busy Boise-Eliot neighborhood, almost directly centered between the historic Mississippi Ave and newly revamped Williams Corridor. There are many shops, pubs, specialty bars, restaurants and music venues within walking distance, and our local New Seasons market (Portland's answer to Whole Foods) is just three blocks away.
  • This is a funky neighborhood fairly close to the Rose District and Alberta Street and very close to Mississiooi Historic District. Lots of good places to eat and drink, nice residential area The host, Jenni, was great, treated me excellent. The bed and room are very comfortable and there is a big bathtub/shower. There's a nice garden in the back and Gozo, the dog, is a great guy. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Jenni would speak to you as much or as little as you like and was respectful of my provacy.

  • Staying with Jenni was WONDERFUL. She was an amazing host and her house and neighborhood are perfection. I'll stay there again in the future absolutely!

  • Jenni was an amazing host. The room and house was beautiful and well kept. Highly highly recommended!

    Jack2014-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jenni is a gem and her place is wonderful! I felt very welcomed and at home. The home itself is charming and delightful, the bedroom was cozy and clean, and the bathroom had an excellent tub. Jenni had a wonderful assortment of food for me in the fridge, and the most amazing fresh fruit. Jenni is also a Bowie fan and has a lot of great Bowie books for you to read, if that's your interest. I loved the assortment of magazines she had in the house as well. Jenni had a bag of Soylent in the kitchen that I was curious about and she kindly gave me a packet to try for myself. I accidentally left jewelry in the guest room and she kindly mailed it back to me. I highly recommend this place and will certainly return on future trips to Portland.

    Chloe2016-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and extremely hospitable! Loved staying here - good location and the dog is funny :)

    Cory2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • I had the most wonderful stay at Jenni's. I had everything I needed. She has a very nice and spacious house. Jenni is a very nice person and it's great to talk to her. Her dog is super friendly and very sweet. It's a pity I could stay only one night. I would definitely stay with her again. Highly recommended. Und für unsere deutschen Leser hier noch mal die Zusammenfassung auf Deutsch: ein super Zimmer in Nord Portland. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Spacious bedroom with clawfoot tub/shower bathroom in a beautiful 1927 craftsman home. Located just 5 miles north of downtown, we are 0.6 miles to the Yellow Max & across the street from #75 bus both of which have you downtown in about 30-35 minutes and run every 15 minutes or so. Parking is very easy to find on the streets that surround the house. We are LGBTQ and 420 friendly (outside only). The bathroom could be shared when we (rarely) have family in town. A friendly, quiet dog lives here.
Guests have told us the queen bed is extremely comfortable and the blackout blinds make it feel like you could sleep all day. Seasonally adjusted duvets keep you comfortable year-round. Extra seating gives you space to enjoy the TV equipped with Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime. This room is on the main floor of our home and has a bathroom with clawfoot tub and shower with hair dryer, basic amenities and room for your gear. You may have light use of our kitchen (easy breakfasts and warming leftovers - no frying or baking) which is where you might run into us during meal prep.
Our neighborhood is diverse and friendly with quaint vintage shops, quirky bars and excellent restaurants. It is conveniently located near I-5 and public transport. We have a 87 point walkscore and are considered a biking paradise! Just 5 miles north of Downtown and nestled in the historic Kenton community close to shops and dining, we are within easy walking distance to public transit (Yellow Max line and several buses) and a 20 minute car ride downtown with great N/S-bound freeway access. We are about 25-35 minutes away from downtown by bus or Yellow Max train line. Both are within six blocks of the house with a bus stop less than a block away.
  • We absolutely loved Portland and Maylene and Charity's place was the perfect base to see the city. Both hosts were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. We especially appreciated the thoughtful touches, like the little chocolates on our arrival and labels in their kitchen and bathroom so we could find everything! Plus, the power shower was amazing! We felt free to come and go as we pleased and it was only a short walk to catch public transport into the city centre.

  • That is a comfy bed. Very nice room. Spacious, quiet. I saw very little of the hosts, but they were really great. The shower is awesome.

  • Although I didn't cross paths with Maylene and Charity during my stay, their home belies their awesomeness as human beings. Beautiful, immaculate, quiet, and cozy are only a few words to describe this place. Everything about my stay was easy, comfortable and clear. I hope to stay with them again, and perhaps thank them in person next time for sharing their wonderful space. Great neighborhood too, and easy access to the rest of Portland via car or public transport. Truly a gem!

  • Maylene and Charity are so friendly and sweet. The house is exactly how it looks in the pictures, kept very clean and neat. We loved staying here and would definitely return.

  • This was a wonderful experience. Maylene and Charity were great hosts that let you have a lot of autonomy. There is a great energy in the home that makes you feel welcome and the backyard is a lovely spot for a nice outdoor conversation. I would definitely recommend a room here to anyone interested. It's located right by a charming downtown area of Kenton with nice restaurants and a pleasant collective/dispensary. Another great quality is its walkable proximity to the Kenton MAX Yellow Line station. Great for going to the Expo Center and also an easy ride straight into the main city. It's also located down the street from a gas station, Rite Aid and 7-11 in case you need to pick up a few travel supplies, especially if you are traveling on foot or without a car. There is a cute Farmers Market in the area on Wednesdays, too. It's overall awesome! Thank you Charity and Maylene for a great stay!

  • Had a great stay here, the room was a good size and the bed was super comfortable. Rented a bike for the week which was great, and all the stuff that you need with it, lock, helmet, etc. Very friendly hosts, was a pleasure to share their home, accommodating and respectful. Would definitely stay again on a future trip.

  • Maylene & Charity were very friendly hosts and want to make sure you enjoy your time. The room and home were very clean. I drove my car here and there was always ample parking right in front. I would stay here again. Thanks Maylene & Charity!

  • This is our second visit to Maylene and Charity's home and I loved it even more this time. They are so generous in what they offer, more than any other host delivers, in the sense of space, needed items, extras and hospitality. I loved it more this time because I got to spend time in conversation with them and because I rented more space from them. I plan to continue to visit them and rent even more of what their lovely home has to offer. I highly recommend them to anyone staying anywhere near the Portland area, and I say so with reluctance because the more people experience staying here the less available it will be for me! Oh, great area, public trans at the front door almost, and awesome shops and eateries within walking distance.

Think of a hostess who was born for this. Multiply by 10. The attention that greeted us at the door, the information she gave us about public transport on trips, about where to dine, where to rent a car for a good price and even where the gasoline was cheaper,They were precious. Cleaning the house, the good smell of a well-kept house, access to all the kitchen paraphernalia, even when cooked tapioca one for her, made us feel a pleasant like "I'm home." Could translate that stay in one word: Amazing. It seemed that we had already known of other lives. Thank you very much, Alleyn. We enjoyed even of you. I recommend to everyone as one of the best places to stay in Portland.
