Walk to Belle Isle, 6 min drive to downtown! A spacious 1BR corner loft overlooking the river and two parks. Lots of light and beautiful view. Convenient location off Jefferson Ave and Detroit's Riverwalk. Gated parking for one car. First time visitors to Detroit and city regulars will enjoy using my loft as a base of operations. I've been a contributing author to Wildsam Field Guides, an eclectic guidebook publisher, and have great recommendations for most cravings in this unique city.
I have a few spaces in Detroit. If this loft is unavailable, check one of my other cool spots: https://www.airbnb.com/users/6405993/listings This loft is beautiful, open, and full of light. A perfect retreat in Detroit. I grew up in Montana, lived in India for a few years, and ran a journalism startup in Detroit called Jaunt, so I have decorated my place with remnants of my travels. I also contributed to a Detroit guidebook called WildSam Field Guides, so I can help you put together a good itinerary or fill any holes you might have. I mostly live on my sailboat during the summer and I teach Marine Science on a sailing school vessel. The loft is all open except for the bathroom. The bedroom is separated by a wall without a ceiling. The kitchen has all the basic essentials and utensils plus coffee, tea, cereal, oatmeal, etc. for breakfast. I have an HDTV with Blu-Ray, Roku, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and an HD OTR antennae for NBC, ABC, FOX, etc. Then there's the bed. Queen and super comfortable - I splurged on the bed because good sleep is really important to me. For extra guests, there is a queen pull-out sofa in the common area. The apartment can accommodate up to four (two in each queen bed) but you're starting to get a little cramped. I will decline requests for greater than four people unless you have a special circumstance. There are two A/C units: one window-mounted right next to the bed and the other in the living room space. They do a good job on the loft 90% of the time, but if the sun is glaring and it is scorching hot, they won't be able to create the refrigerated A/C frigidity we are used to with central air. The bedroom unit works perfectly if you shut the door to the common area. In the winter, you can turn the heat up as much as you like and make it toasty warm.
I moved here in October, 2014 from the nearby West Village area where there are a few great new restaurants, like Craft Work, Detroit Vegan Soul, and Red Hook Coffee. The loft is on the Riverwalk, which is a bike/walk trail connecting you to downtown and Eastern Market via the Dequindre Cut, a converted rail line that runs off of the Riverwalk. I am also walking distance to the Belle Isle bridge. The building is kitty corner to a Coast Guard base, a U.S. Federal building, and the offices of a private security firm. The streets are lit and other residents of the building are frequently coming and going. I have always felt that the area around where I live is quite safe.
  • Beautiful loft apartment in a lovely part of the city overlooking parkland and Belle Isle. Super comfortable bed and all the amenities needed for a great place to stay. Definitely a tricky city to navigate without a car but we used Uber right across the city and it worked out perfectly.

  • Buyer Beware! Fortunately our stay was brief. We checked in at 230 am and were surprised by the condition of the place in the pictures the home appears to be updated IT IS Not the floors are patch worked wood floors with large gaps and holes, I'd suggest house slippers unless you have tough feet. There are spots on the drywall that have been patched but not painted over and many other cosmetic issues. The bathroom is tiny and has low water pressure and has the same wood floor that is rotting obviously due to water contact. The two biggest issues for us though we're the area (there is a reason they need gated parking) and the paper thin walls. At 230 AM when we checked in we could hear the neighbors TV fortunately it was the neighbor away from the master but in the morning we could hear every movement and conversation of the neighbor above including his TiVo remote. We booked 3 days and only stayed that first night and moved over to a hotel. Unfortunately none of these issues were enough for thane to refund us for the last two nights but customer service isn't everyone's thing. I will say his manager Liz was nice and the security guard John that checked us in was very kind as well. I did look up the apartments online when we got there and found that they go for 500 dollars a month which makes sense. If you aren't fussed about neighborhood, condition or privacy this is your spot but personally you can find a much nicer hotel for less. Good luck and happy travels.

  • Thane was very easy to work with, and his place would be great for anyone interested in staying in Detroit. It's a very unique loft, with lots of windows overlooking Canada. Thane was quick to respond, easy to talk to, and a great host. i would recommend his place to anyone looking for a spot near downtown.

    Brady2015-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • The place was beautiful. The View was beautiful. The water pressure was deplorable so washing the dishes was a task. So after the removal of the dishwasher the countertop was not secured and the neighbor above was not conscientious of his noise level towards other people in the building.

    Jeffrey2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved the Loft! It was a real treat staying here. The place has a great vibe and is perfectly located. Karen the lovely host was in contact with me as soon as I had a question during our stay. Would recommend!

    Kat2016-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • The loft is full of light, big and yet super cosy and located in a very convenient and central area. We had a very nice time and felt like at home as soon as we entered. All our questions were answered super fast. So all good!

    Marie2017-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and Thane have it dialed in making the stay easy. Loved having the tips on eats and city highlights. The location is great for city adventuring.

    Artis2016-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Thane's loft is a great place to start your Detroit visit. The location is ideal. Close to downtown if you drive, bike or uber. River walk out the door, belle island close by and tons to explore. The place is definitely a hard loft but is decorated with a great mix of must have amenities and quirky finds. Thane's mom, Karen, checked me in and communication was perfect. Thane's recommendations were great. Definitely recommend this place to others looking to explore Detroit.

A beautiful, open, airy loft space housed within a completely renovated 1926 industrial building. Centrally located on Woodward Avenue, steps away from the Amsterdam stop of the newly-installed QLINE in New Center. Hop on, and be anywhere you'd like in New Center, Midtown, or Downtown in minutes. Relax, you're home.
This is a modern loft apartment housed within a completely renovated 1926 building that originally housed graphic artists for General Motors, and other companies. Designed by famed-Detroit architect Albert Kahn, you'll notice the signature art-deco front-facade and incredible lobby of the building. All the character of the loft is still intact, from the concrete floors, brick exterior wall, and the mushroom columns Albert Kahn was known for. Home includes a large kitchen, front load washer and dryer, incredibly fast internet with wifi and one bedroom with a queen-sized bed. This building is incredibly peaceful, quiet, and relaxing; while being just blocks away from anything you'd want to do in the city. Kitchen includes gas stove/oven, stainless steel sink, refrigerator, toaster, pots, pans, coffee maker, and any other utensils you need to call Detroit home for a few days. You'll find a single bedroom (this was originally a studio unit, but has been converted into a completely-walled one bedroom unit). Beautifully comfortable queen bed, small dresser, and chair. The main bathroom includes a subway tile shower/tub, sink, and any towels and amenities you'll need to make your stay perfect. Awesomely comfy white cotton sheets are included in the bedroom. The living room includes a couch (can be used for extra sleeping space, but isn't a pull-out), coffee table, and two chairs. 50" HDTV is hooked up to an Apple TV with Netflix. Outdoor space includes a small patio (which you'll enter from) with two bistro chairs and table. Enjoy the sunny back-alley of the building with a drink of your choice from the fridge. Local spots within walking/biking distance include the incredibly beautiful art-deco Fisher and Albert Kahn buildings; Midtown Shopping (Shinola, Willys, Nora, Hugh, Carhartt, Fellow Barber, City Bird, Nest, and more); the mid-century gardens and campus at Wayne State, and more. Local attractions include the city and public art, Belle Isle with its beaches, waterpark, Albert Kahn designed conservatory and aquarium, and trails. The world is your oyster. Restaurants nearby including fast food, Northern Lights Lounge, Falafill, Dangerously Delicious Pies, City Wings, Motor City Brewing Works, Jolly Pumpkin, and more. The loft is all yours while you're here. Enjoy, relax, and hang out. I prefer text and AirBnB message for communication. Taking photos during your stay? Make sure you #thatdetroitloft.
Awesome location right on Woodward at the Midtown/New Center border. Just a few blocks either way to a ridiculous amount of inspiration, character, activities, and restaurants. Take in the Detroit Institute of Arts, or check out the art-deco skyscrapers of New Center.

Welcome to Woodbridge Farm! ...a friendly, spacious & quiet neighborhood, close to all of the happenings in/around Detroit. Enjoy the newly renovated 2nd floor of our 1884 Historic house. The apt is cozy w/ yummy architectural/design details.
WOODBRIDGE FARM: We love it here! ...very special and unique. The street is filled with Urban Pioneers and creative types; artists, musicians, gardeners, and makers. You will find that most homes sit on larger pieces of land, giving Woodbridge Farms a unique feel. Many of the houses in the area have undergone impressive renovations, and for the others the renovation is underway. We have completed the interior renovations of this home, and soon we will start renovation on the house next door, which we also own. From the outside they look a little rough, but keep coming back and you will be able to witness the transformation! US & OUR RENOVATION PROJECTS: We are longtime Detroiter’s. We are committed to the City, and we are so happy to have been a part of the revitalization of Detroit. We love old homes …and we love to renovate them! Zac is a general contractor, and Renee is an Interior Designer. Together, we have been restoring old homes in Woodbridge for the last 15 years. LOCATION: You are a short walk/drive from Detroit’s midtown area, where you will find a variety of restaurants and shopping. Both Corktown and Downtown are within a few miles. It is a very quiet neighborhood, conveniently located to all major freeways. Lots of parking. THE LISTING: Newly renovated, with the best of care. Open plan kitchen, dining, and living. King size bed with fine linens and nice pillows. The bedroom windows are opposite the sun rise. It is a very peaceful space, bright, open and fresh. We are sure you will love the apartment. It is clean and private. We have an office on the first floor that is completely separate from the space. Zac is typically there M-F 9-5 should you need to fax ,copy or have any questions. If you have any special requests we will do our best to accommodate you, if given a bit of notice. We live 2 blocks away from the apartment should anything urgent come up.
  • We had a great stay at Zac & Renee's apartment. The location was super convenient to explore downtown and every where was within a 10 minute drive. The apartment was lovely inside. Spirit Airlines cancelled our flight last minute and we had to slightly change our plans, and the hosts were super flexible. The host gave us great recommendations for restaurants and were super responsive. We also loved their cat Taco! He was the sweetest cat and loved to snuggle with us. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The neighborhood is in transition, but we didn't have any issues and felt safe.

  • One of the best little spots you can get for that price, I've paid more and it couldn't compare to what I got here.

    Mark2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Hip, bright, lovely, spacious apartment, thoughtfully decorated and located just close enough to the best of Detroit. Super comfortable king sized bed! I'm a frequent Airbnb user, and this was easily one of my favorite places I've stayed at. Loved the vibe and openness of the space.

    Karen2017-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay! The house is spacious, beautifully decorated and well equipped. Communication with Zac was perfect. One remark is that the neighborhood is very quiet, as some houses are uninhabited.

    Joanne2017-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic spot in the Woodbridge neighborhood of Detroit. Beautiful flat and centrally located. If you want to explore the wonderful creative downtown scene in Detroit this is your spot.

  • Beautifully appointed top level apartment near downtown Detroit! Zac & Renee have impeccable artist style and flare for comfort. This would be a wonderful place for a long weekend as a couple and a great place to launch your exploration of downtown Detroit. Upstairs from Slows BBQ and on the same block as Astro, Sugar House and Gold Cash Gold, this two-bedroom neighborhood inn provides an immersive, welcoming travel experience in the heart Corktown, Detroit's oldest neighborhood.
A small-scale, design-focused Detroit inn, Honor & Folly is reminiscent of the way folks used to travel: a few beds above the village pub or restaurant. You'll be immersed in this historical neighborhood that's also at the forefront of the city's current revitalization. Featured in Martha Stewart Living, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit (made the 40 "Best Food Lovers Hotels in America" Awards), The Globe and Mail, Details Magazine, Conde Nast Traveller UK, and Afar. With a prime Corktown location, you'll be situated smack into the middle of one of the most thriving, charming and walk-able neighborhoods in the city—right across from the city’s most beautiful icon of urban decay: the old train station. Admire it up-close or enjoy the beautiful view through the big living room windows—you can even see the Ambassador Bridge! Sharing a block with Slows, Astro, Gold Cash Gold and Sugar House, Honor & Folly also offers plenty of other nearby bars, shops and restaurants within a quick stroll (I provide guests with a list of my favorite recommendations), as well as easy access to downtown. The well-appointed space is decorated with goods made by Detroit and Midwest-based designers and artisans—much of which is also for sale. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed and its own bathroom, for a capacity of four people, with additional possible sleeping arrangements for kids. From time to time, Honor & Folly is used as a community space, hosting workshops or events, but you will have the space entirely to yourself during your stay. OTHER AMENITIES: outdoor balcony | local design | fully stocked cooking kitchen | potential to arrange custom catering, private dinner parties, etc.
  • This spot is great. Perfect location. Great main hang out space. Easy to get in and out. Clear communication with Meghan.

    Lacey2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Megan was professional and quick to respond to all my questions. The apartment is spacious, comfortable, well furnished and well appointed. However it has an odd layout with an internal bedroom, it is also between two busy roads (the noise of the air-conditioning fans drowns out most of the sound of the traffic), and the kitchen lacked some items of equipment. More for young professionals perhaps than young families. So, on the whole we felt it was slightly over priced at $215 plus a $50 cleaning fee. I guess there aren't very many people providing similar suitable accommodation in Detroit. The area was interesting, though the local trendy bars and cafe's etc all felt expensive and decadent in comparison to the rest of Detroit.

    Kim2018-03-30T00:00:00Z

  • Amazing appartment and very nicely furbished !

    Ludovic2016-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Honor and Folly was a great base for our visit to Detroit. We stayed here for two nights with our daughters age 4 and 2. The location is perfect, both for exploring Corktown and accessing other neighborhoods. There is tons of great food within the one block and Meghan left some good suggestions for us. We felt safe and comfortable in the space, which is beautifully decorated and accommodating with a large open living room/kitchen overlooking Michigan Ave. There was a mixup regarding our arrival, but Meghan was able to sort it out and made up for our inconvenience. We would definitely stay here again when we next return to Detroit.

  • Kyle's spot was great; very clean with plenty of space. Kyle made checking in and checking out very easy and was easy to communicate with. Would definitely recommend this spot for anyone and would love to stay again.

    Sara2017-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle was very helpful, responsive, and accommodating. Would recommend staying at any of his places to someone traveling to Detroit either for business or just to visit.

    Gabrielle2017-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle was great with communication, the Airbnb was in a location close to a lot of attractions downtown, and the unit itself was cool. Would definitely recommend.

    Jelani2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle was very friendly and accommodating. The space is very spacious, a little far from things to do but a very short uber ride to most restaurants. Windows wrap the loft and it is beautiful but you may want to bring something to block out the morning sun if you are staying in the master. Great place, especially for the price.

    Lisa2017-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle is an awesome host! We rented the entire second floor of his property for a staff retreat my organization had in Detroit and it was great. I asked him a million questions beforehand that he answered promptly & he was also around to help with check-in. The pictures are all very accurate and depict the space well. Though the location isn't close to restaurants & things, I thought the neighborhood was awesome and fun to walk around to see all of its history. A few of my colleagues weren't too keen on the fact that there weren't curtains on the windows (definitely wouldn't be able to sleep-in late here), and that the space is not sound proof. Kyle communicated this with us, but it is worth noting that some of the bedrooms do not have doors and are "semi-private". Would definitely book again!

    Madelyn2016-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle's spot was awesome. I'll definitely be back again!

    Orhe2016-11-18T00:00:00Z

    Shawn2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Third time staying at this location, love the renovations done with the place. Had a great time, will continue staying here in the future! I would recommend this loft for anyone looking to stay in Detroit.

Fresh Gothic-Victorian nearby the Museum of African American History, Wayne State, Third Man Records, Shinola. Sfumato Fragrances NOW OPEN in the garden level, perfume shop and low-key scented cocktail bar (search for the latest Lonely Planet article). Selden Standard across the street. 9 min walk to QLINE (approx 10 min to Downtown on the streetcar). 10 min walk to U of M Ann Arbor shuttle bus. MoGo bike rental 1 block away. Rocket Fiber gigabit internet speed. Sonos controls in wall speakers.
This 1880s Gothic-Victorian Mansion was renovated in 2015. Everything is new, clean and modern. There is a queen sized bed and an air mattress. The space can definitely accommodate 3-4 people, but it’ll be cozy (i.e., it’s a Studio). There is ample closet space, a full kitchen, washer/dryer and a private bathroom. The space gets great light. In addition to the low-key cocktail bar in the garden level, Detroit Clothing Circle clothing shop downstairs offers curated racks of clothing with styles that won't blend in with the herd.
We have a great location in Midtown Detroit, many great bars, restaurants, and shops are within walking distance. Popular nearby attractions include the DIA, MOCAD, Chartreuse, Jolly Pumpkin, Hop Cat, Motor City Brewing Works, Great Lakes Coffee and Whole Foods.
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Jacqueline's and Mark's studio. Everything was as described in the apartment, I really liked the design in the studio. The location is very convenient near restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops. Parking on the street was available at all times. We would definitely stay at the Alexandrine Studio again!

  • Jacquelyne has the perfect location and for the perfect price. Located right in the heart of Midtown, you’ll have access to a wide variety of great places to eat and hang out. Any first timer in Detroit will love her knowledge of the community and overall thoughtfulness put into hospitality.

    Jason2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Waste no time. Immediately sign up to stay in Jacqueline’s stylish studio. Impeccably decorated, full of modern design touches, and plenty of luxurious amenities. I felt immediately at home. A block away from numerous nightspots, citywide eating institutions, and the coolest shopping options of the moment. Can be a bit tricky to find reliable public transit from here, although the new Q line trolley runs from about five blocks away. Still, it is so centrally located in Detroit that an Uber ride would be just as easy. If you have a car, you’ll be made in the shade. Great responses, and fast communication throughout my stay. Thanks again.

  • Sarah’s studio in midtown Detroit was terrific! The apartment is incredibly clean and in a great area in the heart of where all the growth and revitalization is happening in D-Town (Shinola, Filson, new apartments, etc.). It was a very quick uber (or longer walk) to down town. Sarah is brief but very nice and responsive before and during the stay!

My husband, Matt, and I have a lovely flat in Hamtramck that has been restored to its original 1920s charm. Our style is intentional and warm, and decorations include things that we have collected through the years that have meaning to us. Equipped with a queen size bed in a spacious bedroom it is perfect for a couple or close friends! There’s plenty of room for an air mattress too. The living room has a couch, eating table, chair, and bar with stools for enjoying food and beverages. We provide a TV with Netflix access, games, and books for when you feel like relaxing after a long day of hanging out in the city. The brightness and vintage style of the kitchen will warm your heart. You will love cooking in this space, not to mention you will be provided with any cooking supplies you need. Lastly, the bathroom is large and clean with a vintage claw foot tub for a tranquil bath or shower. For longer stays, you are welcome to our washer and dryer in the basement.

  • In short: This listing is everything a traveler could want. My fiancé Pedro and I were excited to try AirBnB for the first time, and Matt delivered an extremely memorable and easy stay. We were looking for some local flavor for a quick weekend trip to visit the Detroit Institute of Arts. Thanks to some well-executed DIY efforts, the large and clean apartment has a modern/vintage/rustic vibe. We found free parking easily on their street, which was quiet and charming. Wifi, extra soft towels, and an inviting back garden were icing on the cake. Matt really spent time making sure we were comfortable and gave great recommendations for what to do and see. Best of all, he invited us to check out a hidden gem called Cadieux Café, a restaurant/bar where his friend’s band was playing and the only place in the US that has featherbowling. We didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Meredith, who was out of town, but we hope to next time we’re in Detroit (as I would definitely like to come back)!

  • Matt and Meredith were fantastic hosts, always easy to reach and full of local knowledge. Great spacious home!

  • This was my first Airbnb experience and I couldn't be more pleased. Matthew was very welcoming. Upon arrival he took the time to show us around the absolutely beautiful rustic modern flat. He was also available by phone for all of our questions later in the evening. There was everything we could've needed from shampoo to hand lotion, dish soap, Netflix, board games, and more. With a $6 Uber ride we were right downtown. It was an absolutely fantastic experience!

    Eric2015-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really good! We enjoy our stay. The house is charming. The neighbourhood is amazing and we found lots of things to do on our (short) free time.

    Aby 2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • They had a great selection of toiletries, a very comfy bed, additional heater, roku, lovely teas and a very welcoming bottle of wine. I loved soaking off the cold in the cozy clawfoot tub. We did not run into eachother but they checked in and made sure I was not in need of anything, were very sweet and communicative.

  • We had a lovely stay at Matt and Meredith's. It was incredibly clean, cozy and well designed. We really appreciated all the little vintage objects and pieces of furniture. The apartment was very well stocked - from the kitchen to the bathroom, it was clear that Matt and Meredith put a lot of thought into making guests feel right at home! Lots of yummy food and interesting stores in the area too. Would love to come back again for a longer stay - wish we could have lounged around more in the apartment!

    Anita2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • The host responded to my request almost instantly. They were quick to approve our stay and made every accommodation. The flat was just like the pictures, very cute and comfortable. There was plenty of amenities available that were unexpected. A nice bottle of wine and two glasses were left out for us on the table, the kitchen was well stocked with coffee and various creamers. I was very impressed with the thoughtfulness of our hosts when putting the flat together. Parking was consistently available, and safe. Neighborhood is eclectic and fun!

    Owen2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is the kind of place I'm hesitant to say good things about for fear of it becoming difficult to book. But to be fair to Matt & Meredith, I have to say their flat is charming, cozy, and quiet, with thoughtful touches throughout the apartment. I especially enjoyed reading the history of the house-- That and the view out the back window made me feel as if I could've been staying at my grandparents house when I was a kid. The location is in the heart of Hamtramck, walking distance to pretty much all the spots of interest in that area, and a few minutes drive to Cass Corridor and downtown. I hope to stay there again sometime in warmer weather so I can take advantage of the bike tours from the new Wheelhouse location nearby.

Welcome to our 101 year-old home in the historic Arden Park Neighborhood! Located near major freeways, you can reach downtown/mid-town or the suburbs in minutes. It's all the tranquility of Detroit's historic beauty with access to everything the city has to offer! Come enjoy a homebrew in our cozy back yard in the summer and our warm wood-burning stove in the winter. We've put a lot of work into renovating our place and hope you'll appreciate our labor of love in progress!
You'll stay in one of our lovely second floor rooms. Its gets plenty of light, has a television (with a retro gaming station if you're into that) and pretty much exclusive access to the second floor bathroom. Bear in mind our home is a 101 years old and still a work in progress - please mind our dust and let us know if you have any concerns. Summer: Given the age of our home there is no Air Conditioning. While your room has a ceiling and window fan it is on the second floor and can be warm.
We live in the historic Arden Park neighborhood. If you get time have a walk around to see some of the amazing mansions nearby. It's very safe and you will have access to street and/or behind the house parking. The major freeways are very close making travel to downtown/midtown/suburbs quick and convenient.
  • We were only there to sleep and shower, and the space was perfect. Everyone in the house was super friendly and available if we needed anything.

    Deborah2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I loved staying with Alana and Justin (and their roommate Jackson). Interesting, kind, warm-hearted people with an equally interesting home! Extremely comfortable room and accommodations. We loved chatting with them and learning about their lives in Detroit. A wonderful place to stay all around, and wonderful people to meet (thats the best part of Air BnB in my opinion).

    Molly2016-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Alana and Justin are wonderful hosts that practice and live hospitality and graciousness. I'd highly recommend staying with them if you enjoy meaningful conversations and relationships.

    Richard2016-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay with Alana and Justin. Beautiful old house, just as described. Would definitely stay there again.

    Joe2016-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I were really only looking for a place to spend the night, not anything extra, and this was perfect. I appreciated the typed out notes about the place and there were even suggestions for food. Their dog, Mississippi, was so kind and lovable!

    Kaylee2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Justin and Alana's home for one night, and were generously and warmly welcomed into their home. We greatly enjoyed their space and company. Many thanks.

    Zoe2016-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed at Alana and Justin's house for an interview. They were very nice about me checking in early. You need a car in detroit which I didn't have, so it was nice of Alana to drive me to a nearby eatery. They're very friendly, but also gave me a lot of privacy. Their puppy, Mississippi is very cute. Room was neat with pretty fairy lights over the bed, a portable heater, a tv and sofa. Also, a private bathroom. My only peeve was that the bedroom and bathroom doors didn't lock. The area is beautiful and it was nice living in an old mansion. Great value and would love to see the beautiful house after it's fully restored.

    Amruta2017-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for one night and felt the room was a good value for the price. Important details is there is a pit-bull puppy(well behaved) and the entire house (not just the kitchen) is 100% vegetarian.

Up north at its best! Stay in a custom cabin in the middle of Rocky Top Farms, a cherry orchard. Please read this listing completely!
Custom timber-frame cabin was built by my husband, father-in-law, and me with the help from many, many friends. The little cabin is in the middle of a large cherry orchard in the heart of beautiful northern Michigan and is situated on a pond surrounded by birch trees. The love is in the details at this very special place. Climb a ladder to the romantic sleeping loft and gaze at the incredible northern night skies! Wonderful front porch! Locally made art. Amazing soapstone wood stove for cozy warmth and romantic, flickering firelight. Shared outdoor 6 person hot tub. The small kitchen is equipped with all you might need to make some wonderful meals. Fridge, sink, oven with stove top griddle, microwave. Pots, pans, mixing bowls, utensils, dishes, cups, mugs, basic oils and spices are included. OH~ and coffee maker complete with coffee. Towels, bedding and firewood are also provided. Enjoy acres of Michigan orchard, prairie, and woodlands. The north end of Torch Lake is just a couple miles away. Lake Michigan beaches are within minutes of driving. Ski resorts, breweries (can you say SHORT'S BREWING?), wineries, restaurants, farm markets are all within reach for great day trips. This property is best accessed by four- wheel drive during the winter months. You could say we are off the beaten path. This cabin can be rented in conjunction with The Treehouse at Rocky Top Farms- check it out! The Treehouse is near The Cabin, but both buildings have been designed to have a feeling of privacy. There is a wall of pine trees between the cabins. Please be reminded that this is a working orchard. You may hear ambient tractor noises at various times. You should have 4 wheel drive to access the cabin in winter- I am not joking!!! Surrounded by lakes, beaches and hiking opportunities abound! We are located 15 minutes south of Charlevoix and 20 minutes north of Elk Rapids. Bellaire (home to Short's Brewery) is 20 minutes away. Traverse City is about 30 minutes to our south. See the guidebook for a listing of our favorite spots. No public transport around here, sorry. You must have 4 wheel drive to visit the cabin in the winter.... Otherwise, prepare to hike about 1/4 mile to the cabin, and park at the barn. The water here is well- water. It isn't the city water you might be used to. It does have a yellowish cast because there are many tannins in it. The water has been tested, and is fine to drink. You may want to bring your own drinking water if are used to chlorinated water.
We love our rural neck of the woods! Surrounded by lakes, beaches and hiking opportunities abound! See the guidebook for a listing of our favorite spots. Our immediate neighbors consist of farmers, artists, a college professor, bee keepers, a massage therapist, a chef, an energy conservationist and a professional star-gazer_ truly! Our neighborhood is spread across many miles, but we are look out for each other and are friends.
  • We had an amazing time at Heidi's cabin. It was a much needed relaxation. Everything was as described if not better. The cabin was clean and inviting and we will be back for sure!

    Casey2015-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin, the orchard and Heidi were all wonderful. My partner and I needed a few days to relax between business trips and the cabin was perfect for us- spotlessly clean, comfortable, well appointed, private and charming. We were interested in trying SUP Yoga, and Heidi worked hard to make this happen for us. Beautiful cabin, beautiful landscape- we will be back. Alice McLean, Chicago

    mclean2013-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I visited this little cabin in the woods for a romantic getaway, and it was everything we expected and more. The cabin was absolutely charming and just the right size for two people. The grounds were beautiful and we loved walking around and enjoying the scenery. It was great to be basically in the middle of nowhere and yet, just a short drive from the town. If we ever decide to go back to Michigan, we'd love to visit this quaint little cabin again.

    Sarah2014-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Cabin at Rocky Top Farms is basically the perfect of mix of being away from everything with just the right amount of modern amenities. It served us great as both a home base for traveling the area as well as just sitting and doing nothing. Plus, the host Heidi, was AWESOME. It was mine and my wife's anniversary, and she was able to help me with planning a little extra surprise for my wife. This was on top of the the excellent communication and the helpful notes in the cabin. Basically, there is no reason why not to stay here for a nice get-away. The cabin is great, the grounds are scenic, and the host is more than helpful. The only negative is me having to write this glowing review when I'd rather keep the place to myself.

    Marc2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful place for a peaceful getaway!

    Kenneth2017-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time visiting the Cabin! Once again we had a flawless and relaxing stay. This time we never left the Cabin, only for food and drinks! We enjoyed sitting on the porch, going for walks on the orchard and enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere. Lots of nature to observe and explore. We had lots of privacy, but knew if we needed anything Heidi would be available! We cannot wait to come back again!! It is such a special place!

    Sarah2014-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem. It's that dream place you always dream of finding, but didn't know existed. Great hosts & very generous!

Craftsman style, 2 bedroom cabin with large windows overlooking the designated "National Wild and Scenic" Pere Marquette River.
Craftsman style, 2 bedroom cabin with large windows overlooking the designated "National Wild and Scenic" Pere Marquette River. Peaceful and cozy craftsman style cabin in the woods overlooking the Pere Marquette river. Large windows on the riverside allow for a spectacular view of the river and lovely sunrises. The cabin has central AC and central heat, but there is NO TV or Internet/WiFi. The kitchen is well stocked with most cooking essentials. There is a tea kettle, various coffee pots, coffee bean grinder, dishes, pans, small refrigerator, and small functioning vintage stove. Freshly laundered bed linens, blankets and towels are provided. The town grocery store is conviently located less than a mile from the cabin. Both bedrooms have a full size mattresses. There is also a futon in the living room that could be used for additional guests. There is a 2 person tandem kayak, canoe and fishing poles are available at the cabin and are free for guest use. The burn ring by the river and a fire pit on the property that can be used for bonfires or roasting marshmallows. A door code enables guests to check themselves in after 3pm. We are available by text/email or phone during their stay if there any problems or questions. The cabin is located in Baldwin which is a small rural town that has very limited attractions or resturants, but makes for quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Cabin is located on Pere Marquette river which is a designated "National Wild and Scenic" river and is world renowned for excellent fishing for rainbow trout, brown trout and Steelhead. The river section directly in front of the cabin is open for fishing only during the last weekend in April to end of September (trout season). It is also a very popular river for canoes and kayakers since it is steady and considerably clear which is perfect for paddlers with basic skills. The cabin is located about a 2 minute drive from the closest 'open all year round' river location. The cabin is 1.5 hour drive from Traverse City (Wine tasting, beaches, cherry orchards) and/or Grand Rapids MI (Art prize, Fredrick Meijer sculpture Gardens). It is also 45 Min. drive from Ludington which has miles of public beach on Lake Michigan. Pleae note there is a approx. 50 yard walk from the driveway to the cabin. Smoking inside the cabin is not allowed. Pets are ok with the following considerations: no wet dogs in the cabin (most dogs love swimming in the river), no pets on the furniture and up to date flea control is appreciated. The cabin is located 3.5 miles from the start of the Pere Marquette Rail Trail which is a excellent mountain biking and hiking trail.
The cabin is located in Lake County which is over half state (Pere Marquette State Forest) and federal land (Manistee National Forest) with endless hiking opportunities. The cabin is located very close to the North Country National Scenic Trail. There are multiple sections of the North Country trail that allow mountain biking and also the Big M trail is nearby. The cabin is located near the small town of Baldwin which has very limited attractions and no notable restaurants therefore this is not the place to come for man made sightseeing that is nearby.
  • This place is phenomenal. My wife and I loved it. The house is very artfully crafted and tastefully decorated. The view overlooking the river is beautiful. In the mornings, the rising sun shines in the large windows, warming the little seating area nicely. My wife and I sat there or out on the little porch with our coffee watching the river glisten and the birds flitting around for hours each morning. We also really enjoyed building a little fire and having dinner down by the water. It was also a treat to open the windows and hear the water running as you lay in bed. You're close enough to the road to hear passing cars, but it's not a heavily trafficked road, so things are nice and quiet. You can kind of see another house through the trees from the back of the house, away from the river, but since we stayed on the river-side of the cabin, we felt completely alone. The beds were comfortable, the kitchenette had everything we needed, and everything worked well in the bathroom. The cabin is on the small side, which was perfectly cozy for just my wife and I, but could get crowded quickly. Russ and Jade had a short welcome note and a couple of cute little gifts waiting for us when we arrived. We were also blessed with perfect early fall weather. Overall, it was a wonderful stay at a well put together cabin in a beautiful location. There's a reason this cabin is booked solid so far in advance. I hope we can return many times in the future.

    Chris2015-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Russ and Jade's cabin was the absolute perfect vacation! We were looking for a quiet, woodsy getaway and it utterly exceeded our expectations. The inside has been beautifully and tastefully finished with much attention to detail - it was as comfortable as being at home. The outdoors is gorgeous and so peaceful. We enjoyed listening to the bubbling of the river and the chickadees as we woke up each morning. The only thing we might recommend would be to bring some extra light for reading in the evening.

  • Adorable cabin! Gorgeous location. Loved it!

    Maria 2016-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Russ and Jade for making us look good. My siblings/cousins and I bought my parents and aunt/uncle a vacation at Russ and Jade's cabin. I didn't get to see the cabin, but I can say that our parents have never loved us more. My Mom's comments about the cabin, convinced me that i'll have to book another stay for myself.

    Scot2015-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Just. Great. Beautiful, peaceful, clean and relaxing. As noted in other reviews, the decorative details in the cabin are delightful and fun to discover throughout the course of the stay. My husband and I (as well as our dog -- thank you for opening this little slice of heaven up to canine babies!) had such a nice time. Leading up to the reservation, Russ and Jade were attentive and made the whole check in/check out experience clear and easy. We didn't see them, but knew we could reach them if needed. Quiet town, beautiful woods. The river is nippy - worth a dip! Shrine of the Pines and Jones' Ice Cream are not to be missed in Baldwin. Easy day trip to Ludington - Bortell's fried fish was delicious! All in all, a great mini-vaca. When (not if) you make your reservation, remember to bring bug spray, but leave the stresses of the daily grind behind :) Thank you!! Lucy, Will and Moo (Chicago)

    Lucy2015-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful cabin. There are 2 bedrooms, but we slept on the futon in the living room because of the amazing floor to ceiling windows. It was like sleeping outside :o) Awesome accomadations...kitchen, bathroom, everything you could need, and if they don't have it there is a grocery store that you can literally throw a rock at. Last but not least, the details of the cabin, everything from the light switches to the art is heartfelt and original and warm. And if you get cabin fever, Sleeping Bear Dunes is only like 2 hours away. We did the Dunes and Traverse City in one day, and then came home to peace and comfort.

    Sarah2012-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • After hearing about this place from our Daughter and Son-in-law, we had to check it out. And we're glad we did. We had a wonderful time for 4 days in the first week of October, celebrating 30 wonderful years of marriage. The cabin is just as it looks on Airbnb. It's just so cool. The thinking, the attention to detail. The workmanship. Well done, Russ and Jade! And it's just as cool outside. We watched many salmon doing their mating dance all up and down the beautiful Pere Marquette right from the front porch. I (Jack) even spent the better part of Thursday trying to get a hook into the mouth of one of those beautiful fish (don't ask me how I did). All we can say is, it's a really nice place to just relax and enjoy God's beautiful creation! Thanks Russ and Jade for trusting us with your little slice of heaven.

    Jack2013-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing! I would definitely come back and would encourage anyone to stay here! Russ and Jade were the best hosts we could possibly ask for. This cabin is the perfect get-away location for a relaxing vacation. My fiancé and I honeymooned here and had so much fun. The only thing thing I wish I could change is the location. While it is very private and lovely, it is quite far away from any fancier restaurants or shopping. There is a grocery store very close, and some local restaurants, but we took several day trips to go visit Ludington, Big Rapids, and Traverse city since they were able to offer many things that Baldwin could not. Still, this small imperfection is far outweighed by everything else that this wonderfully peaceful cabin has to offer!

  • Near perfect stay. In spite of the biting flies (screen room helped with that) and some rain, it didnt stop the fantastic views and the serenity of the crashing waves. Didnt want to leave. The cabin was lovely and comfortable, with the basic needs. What a wonderful way to experience the UP.

  • One of the most beautiful places I've ever been! The snow and ice was amazing.

    Daniel2018-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place right on the water!

    Becca2018-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Love Shack was amazing! The fall colors and sunrises were beautiful to wake up to! Bed was very comfy and all supplies needed were available. Towels, games, paper products, dish washing supplies, fire starters, lighters, table, chairs, etc. The screened in porch was helpful for when the flys and gnats were bad. Gas grill was perfect for heating up water to use to bathe. There is wood chopped and ready to use for a small fee or you can gather fallen ground wood for free. (Saw, axe and sawhorse available to cut your own wood) The outhouse looks brand new and was the nicest one I've ever seen! The dirt roads that lead back the the cabin are unlike anything I've ever experienced. Highly recommend stopping to take some pictures of the beautiful trees along the way. I would definitely recommend the Love Shack for a nice private getaway for those that want to unplug and take in all that MI has to offer! Hosts were very helpful and answered all questions immediately.

    Cara2017-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place! Secluded, 360 views of the forest and Lake Superior, comfortable, clean, rustic, the wood sauna an incredible and unique experience. Would definitely go back!

    Alice2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing!!! Great 4 days, Sauna was perfect, views incredible, record breaking warm temperatures (75 degree's in November) and everything was as advertised. We will be back and a couple of our friends that visited us at the property are booking their next trip here as well.

    Michael2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb was just as described in all the pictures--picturesque, with great views, in a remote wooded setting. The hosts have thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. One should not underestimate the work and time that is involved in heating all your water for cleaning and cooking in a camp-like atmosphere. The propane grill which had a side burner area worked great for heating up water. This worked really well to get water hot for the sauna. On the one day that we chose to stay home and not go to Marquette (35 min one way), it was very nice to just relax and take all the time needed to cook and eat and take a sauna. We brought our dog along and had a very positive experience. She doesn't stray far from us but did love to run on the road (which is close by and rarely used by anybody). There's not any access to the Lake Superior water from the site. We totally recommend this place if you are interested in experiencing a remote beautiful setting, low tech time, rustic living, but with the luxury of a cabin and a comfy bed, viewing the sunrise each day.

  • We had 9 people stay at the house for two nights. Everything was wonderful. The house was lovely. We had a very relaxing vacation. The beach area that we had access to just one house down was great for the kids! The water level was not too high so it was perfect for the smaller kids to splash around. The views from the house were so beautiful. We will definitely stay again :) Harriet was also wonderful with getting back to me quickly with any questions I had. Thank you

  • My wife and I took her family for a quick 1-night jaunt over to Holland. This house was very spacious and the location was wonderful! There is a great dock and plenty of outdoor seating right on water. There is also a very nice second-story balcony that connects through the bedrooms upstairs. It's about a 20 minute walk to Lake Michigan and a five minute walk from a local small restaurant (the Ottawa Beach in). There is also a small general story (with coffee and donuts) en route to the Lake! We had a quick stay (less than 24 hours) but it was a great and fun little trip.

  • A beautiful and well equipped lake house in a picturesque setting. We were there for the tulip festival and found ourselves not wanting to go see flowers, but rather to sit on deck and enjoy the water view! Only thing we couldn't work out was the microwave - but hey, no biggie!! Thank you Harriet

    Karen2016-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about Harriet's home on Lake Macatawa. Our only complaint was that our stay was too short!! We especially loved sitting on the deck and the balcony, looking out over the lake, playing cards in the sun room. There were so many comfortable and cozy places to gather. The upstairs bedrooms were bright and welcoming with beautiful views! We would recommend this home to anyone!

    Karen2016-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was the perfect getaway for myself, wife, two adult sons and my daughter-in-law. We all came in from two coasts and across the globe. The perfect place for a family reunion. Harriet was attentive, yet left us to our own. We will be going back! Cozy spot on the lake.

    Kevin2017-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I rented Harriet's place for a family reunion and it was absolutely PERFECT! Close to downtown Holland and just down the road from the beach and Lake Michigan. We will definitely be back!

Floyd Gompf's cottage in Lakeside. A well equipped clean and comfortable cottage furnished with Floyd's famous furniture. Has a wood stove and really nice wrap around screen porch. There's plenty of parking. A short walk or ride to Lake Michigan Pier Ave. Beach. Warren Dunes is close by too. The house is bright and sunny and is surrounded by lots of mature trees and is located on a quaint and quiet dirt road. Two bedrooms, one has a queen size bed the other has a double. One bath with a Jaccuzzi bathtub. A clean simple well equipped kitchen, brand new stove and refrigerator. Farmers markets in Union Pier and Three Oaks on weekends. Greenbush Brewery in Sawyer. The cottage is close to many quaint small towns. Three Oaks, approximately six miles from the cabin offers antique shopping, galleries, a distillery, movie theater and several restaurants. Sawyer is home to Greenbush Brewery, and Mesa Luna a restaurant which features home grown fare, a grocery store, a clothing store in a former fire station and Sawyer Garden Shop, featuring, fresh produce, a great wine selection and gourmet foods.
  • Floyd's Cottage was delightful, charming, quirky and within close proximity of all the great draws of Lakeside/Three Oaks/Sawyer Michigan. The bedrooms are well appointed and comfortable, the kitchen was adorable and fully stocked. We were able to cook two large meals and had all needed to do so. We have already said that this will become "Our Cabin" as there were so many spaces, like the screened in porch that we couldn't use on account of the weather and look forward to in the sumer months. Loved Floyd's Cottage and the communication between Linda and myself was very quick, easy and concise. we'll be back!

    Eric2013-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place, really thoughtfully decorated, lots of personality. Extremely clean and well-kept. Highly recommend! During our short stay, we also enjoyed Cafe Gulistan and Greenbush brewery in the area.

    Sarah2013-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a wonderful first anniversary weekend at Floyd's Cottage and couldn't believe what a short trip it is from the Chicago area. While the cottage is not very secluded, it is in a great location with easy access to the beach and a short drive to great stops in Sawyer and Three Oaks. The cottage is very spacious and easily a place we could return with a group of friends. We loved all of Floyd's handmade furnishings, the eclectic touches and the wood burning fireplace. The cottage was clean, welcoming (fresh flowers on the table!) and well equipped. Floyd and Linda were friendly and wonderful hosts.

    Kelly2012-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the cottage en route from Chicago to Detroit. It's in a great location, close to lovely beaches and a good local brewery. The cottage is really spacious and cosy- more than enough room for four of us. It was a bit less private than we expected, as you have other houses close by, but that meant it was easy and convenient to get to. We really enjoyed our stay!

    Anna2015-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Linda and Lloyd are wonderful hosts. The cottage is as cute as the photos. We love Lloyd's furniture creations. Great weekend! Thank you Linda and Lloyd!

    Katie2012-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hosts to work with - super considerate as they left the light on for us and made sure we had everything we needed. We were only there for a short time, but had a lovely stay.

    Leslie2013-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time here. The place is absolutely gorgeous! Floyd's furniture, that he makes himself, is truly beautiful. It's close to the lake as well and we enjoyed walking there, only about 15-20 min. We would love to come back!

    Alessandra + Holden2014-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was our third stay at Floyd's Cabin, and as usual, Linda and Floyd went out of their way to make sure the cottage was warm and cozy on the cold weather day we arrived. The heat was up, the new woodstove was stocked and ready for a fire, and everything we might need for a comfortable stay was on hand. The cottage is cute, and it's artfully furnished. We are already looking forward to our next stay there!

Log cabin on Grand Traverse Bay in beautiful Suttons Bay. Private beach. Super kid and dog friendly (extra dog fee applies). Grill, swim, read, cook, walk, hike, bike, wine taste and more...
Beautiful, fully-equipped beachfront log cabin on West Grand Traverse Bay. Lee Point is the place to be! Sleeps at least 8 (max 12) across 3 floors with 3 full bathrooms, washer/dryer, full kitchen, decorative fireplace, etc. The Beach: 150' of private West Bay beachfront for your use. Water is shallow (great for little swimmers/dogs) for a ways out. Beach toys, a few chairs and towels provided. We suggest aqua socks for little children given our own experience! There is a fire pit on the small bluff overlooking the water as well. The house: This is a traditional log cabin that is fully outfitted (towels, linen, cookware, etc) and furnished for comfort and a Northern Michigan vacation-style. 3 floors of space to sprawl, relax and enjoy. There's a very private deck off the back of the home. Linens and towels provided. Lower level bathroom completely remodeled and updated in December 2016. The indoor fireplace is only decorative. (please note!) The upstairs jacuzzi is permanently retired and not in use. Neither of these features are advertised as perks at the cabin, so please don't be disappointed that they are not available! Both are for the safety of our guests! *We are unable to accommodate weddings or special events due to insurance liability and facility requirements. Dogs welcome with an additional $25/day fee payable 1 week before check in. Please inquire with questions!
Location: located half mile off M-22, Lee Point is a quiet street made up of beaches, houses and local neighbors & vacationers. It's friendly, private and beautiful. It's a short trip into the charming village of Suttons Bay, and very close to the hustle and bustle of Traverse City and all it has to offer. We're a stone's throw from Black Star Farms as well! The house is located directly across from the private beach. Lee Point Road is generally very calm, but does pick up in the summer due to tourists and cherry season, so it is advised that children have an adult to cross over to the beach.
  • The cabin was great for our family of 8 to relax and enjoy time with each other. Our family lives in 3 separate towns, so anytime spent with family is priceless. Sharon was so helpful and suggested several great places to eat and fun towns to visit. The cabin was furnished above and beyond our expectations. This was a first time visit for our family to vacation in Michigan. We loved the beaches, fishing towns and quaint shops. Can't wait to return !!

    Lisa2014-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The log cabin is beautiful and we loved the large rooms and beach access. The location is perfect for getting away and enjoying nature but not too far for a quick trip to the store. We enjoyed being close to the water and took several walks. Our party was up there for the Bay Shore runs and for wine tasting. It was a great location for both.

  • Colleen was quick to respond and very accommodating to my requests.

  • My family and I stayed here for a week on vacation from Chicago. Location is perfect, secluded quite street and amazing view of the bay. Great proximity to Traverse City, Suttons Bay, Leland, hiking trails and a bunch of wineries only minutes away. Exceptional lake access with sandy beach and shallow water pretty far out. The cabin is spacious, clean and comfortable. No A/C but the lake breeze and fans kept the house very cool. Nice big kitchen and dinning area that is great for family meals. We stayed here with our 14mo old and it was very accommodating with a full size crib, pack-n-play, jogging stroller, high chair, lots of indoor toys, beach toys and books! This place has all the essentials, no need to fill the car with big bulky items. Colleen was extremely helpful leading up to the stay with quick replies to all messages. Overall, a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. We would visit again in a heart beat. Thanks Colleen!

    Lacey2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was exactly as advertised. Great location, right in front of the Lake with all the fittings for an enjoyable stay. There was plenty of information about the area and the home. We had an excellent stay and will likely be returning soon!

  • Absolutely wonderful stay!

    Becca2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Had such a wonderful time at the cabin! So happy I could spend my 40th in such a beautiful area! The cabin was close to everything we wanted to see. My only regret is we didn't get a chance to use the awesome fire pit. Thank you for your hospitality!

Scandinavian modern home within a wooded setting, convenient to the towns of Leland, Suttons Bay, Northport, and Lake Leelanau. Walk to lake access, hike the cherry orchards, explore local wineries, distilleries and farm markets.
The house comfortably sleeps 6 people, there are two queen beds and two twin beds. There are two full baths and a powder room. The master bath has the soaking tub while the second floor bath has a large shower. The simple euro style kitchen is well equipped for cooking and serving, complete with convection oven, gas cooktop, drawer dishwasher, and refridgerator/freezer. The windows and location gives the feeling of being in a very comfortable treehouse.
The Wayfarer is located between the neighboring home, a wooded area and cherry orchards. Within a short walk there is a very nice public access to Lake Leelanau, a great spot for daily swimming and sunsets. The public access even has a boat dock for meeting up with boating friends.
  • This is a great place! The house is modern, clean and in new condition. There are many clever things about this house, the way everything is built in with shelves and cabinets. We loved all of the wood, including the new deck with the oversized boards. (I hope the deck is going to wrap all the way around the side and back, because that would be very slick). The house is very well stocked with plates, glasses, etc. and well organized. The appliances are perfectly sized and work well. The house is well done; Sean has a great design sense. We enjoyed coming home to this after galavanting on the Leelanau Peninsula. We hope that Sean continues to buy houses and outfit them as he brings a higher quality to the rental market.

    Andrea2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Waking up to nature all around was exactly what we needed. The house had all the essentials and the cherry orchard behind the house was beautiful. Sean was great and quickly responded to any of our questions. We hope to stay there in the future.

    Natalia2015-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay for the whole family at the Wayfarer Treehouse! House was perfectly equipped and in a peaceful location. We had everything we needed for a great stay!

    Heidi2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful and tranquil stay at the Wayfarer house. Sean has created a fantastic retreat, with a unique mid century design aesthetic that's set on a beautiful piece of property. We plan on coming again and definitely recommend the house to anyone looking for a peaceful northwestern Michigan experience.

    Taylor2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cozy, classy place! We loved our stay, and the communication was great! We were close to great hiking, and the view was breath-taking, especially in this snowy weather! We'd definitely come back!

    Beth2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sean was a good host. The house was very clean when we arrived. It is an adorable house tucked back in the woods. Very relaxing and serene. It is very close to several beautiful wineries (the best ones on the area). We unfortunately were not able to find the beach that was described in the post as being across the street. We walked up and down the street and it was all private property so I advise someone staying here to get directions to it. Other than that, everything was perfect!

    Nikki2015-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place is beautiful and exactly as described. We love to cook and the kitchen was fully equipped with more than just essentials. There is nothing we could think of that would have made our trip even more enjoyable. Sean was great to work with, the transaction went smooth and he is quick in responding. We will be back for another long weekend.

    Janina2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Really impressive house, you can tell that it's been meticulously designed and furnished from the ground up. It really vibes well with the surrounding forest (which is beautiful) - minimalist with lots of open air and windows. This was one of the cooler homes I've stayed at on Airbnb.

This second- story, custom built cabin in the middle of a cherry orchard has huge windows that allow for great natural light. Polished concrete countertops and floors with radiant heat. Sleeps 6. One bath. Shared hot tub. Large decks. Basic kitchen. Please read this listing completely.
Up north at its best! The Treehouse sits on a pond among the birch and pines in a working cherry orchard. Built by my husband and me, with a whole lot of help from many friends, it clearly has love in the details. Large windows bring the daylight in and allow for dreamy star- gazing - maybe even the northern lights! Six person outdoor hot tub is shared with the cabin also on property. Locally made art. Big garden. Access to trails for hiking, groomed cross- country ski trails, and mountain biking all around the orchard and ponds. Minutes to Lake Michigan and Torch Lake beaches. The cabin makes a great getaway for couples and families. There is a sleeping loft which can sleep four and a private bedroom which sleeps two. Limited kitchen has a smart oven, countertop two burner range, microwave, sink, coffee maker, electric frying pan and refrigerator. The Treehouse can be rented in conjunction with The Cabin at Rocky Top Farms. Towels and linens are provided. You must have four- wheel drive to access the Treehouse in the winter, or plan to hike the 1/4 mile from the barn. Please note! This is a cabin and not a traditional treehouse! We don't mean to mislead with the name- The Treehouse is what we have always called it. *Please read this listing entirely!
We adore our very rural neighborhood! Just a couple miles from both Torch Lake and Lake Michigan-beaches abound! Ask us about our favorite spots. Hiking and paddling opportunities are plentiful. We are not far from XC, downhill skiing and snowboarding in the winter. Rocky Top Farms is centrally located between Traverse City and Petoskey. We are located just off 31N. Our nearest towns are Elk Rapids, Bellaire, and Charlevoix, and East Jordan. The closest villages are Torch Lake, Ellsworth, and Central Lake. There are so many things to check out while visiting- or- just laze around the farm!
  • We spent a long weekend at The Treehouse and it was everything we hoped it would be -- the perfect combination of rustic and modern. If you seek peace and quiet, it's ideal. If you want a comfortable base camp for day trips to Lake Michigan, Mackinac Island and other spots, it's also ideal. Heidi was an excellent, attentive host. Although we didn't get the chance to meet her, she stayed in close touch prior to our arrival and during our stay. She left the cabin open for us on the evening of our arrival, with a few lights on and a jar of delicious cherry-berry preserves on the dining room table (we bought four more jars of Rocky Top preserves and fruit butters from the self-serve gift shop when we left). As others have noted, there's a second cabin a stone's throw from the Treehouse. But we heard no noise from its occupants, and hardly knew anyone was there. The Treehouse does not have internet access or cable television, which was fine with us because we were seeking an escape from that. We didn't avail ourselves of the shared hot tub, but did enjoy the deep soaking tub in the cabin itself (a nice, unexpected design touch). My wife and I would love to return to Rocky Top for a longer stay, and are even kicking around the idea of renting both cabins and inviting other members of our family to join us.

    Chris2014-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the setting and location of the Treehouse. It was a perfect place to relax after enjoying skiing in the day. The wintertime orchards, and fields left us thinking of how nice it must be in the other seasons. This is something we agreed we must cone back to check out. This would be an ideal place to hunker down in through a heavy snow storm, though it was unusually warm during our visit, and we got soothing rain instead. The bathroom is as nice as depicted in the pictures, and the radiant heat in the floor was awesome throughout the place. If you are looking to unplug, relax and refresh, the Treehouse is a great place.

    George2016-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi made us feel perfectly at home before, during and after our stay. Knowing we were traveling from far away, she gave us weather and logistical updates in advance of our trip. She welcomed us to the property with open arms and told us about some of the area attractions. The treehouse was immaculate, sunny, and well-stocked. The space itself is lovingly hand-crafted, decorated with works by local artists, and full of pleasant surprises (including a heated floor). During our stay, Heidi checked in by text to make sure we had everything we needed. She offered just the right balance of privacy and personal attention to ensure that we enjoyed every minute of our stay.

    Gabrielle2016-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I needed a weekend away to have some quality time together and the Treehouse was the perfect place for it. It is even cuter and cozier in person and the atmosphere exudes comfort and relaxation. We enjoyed the view from the numerous windows and the decor and furniture is all very comfortable. You could easily stay at the cabin all weekend and just relax, but it is also close enough to visit nearby attractions and get some good eats. We loved walking our dogs in the orchards, using the hot tub, and reading books in the quiet cabin. Love that it is pet-friendly, that was crucial for us. A great place for a couples retreat!

    Courtney2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Treehouse was great, we had four in our group, but could have easily had six. The location was actually bigger than we expected. The treehouse is in a very secluded location including walking trails, a pond, and a ton of nature. It was great just sitting outside and listening to the sounds. Inside was great as well, very cozy with all of the amenities you could need. We never met Heidi in person, but she was very helpful through email prior to our arrival. We would definitely stay again.

    Chad2015-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi's Treehouse at Rocky Top Farms was the perfect backdrop to our second honeymoon! As newlyweds, we were looking for a quiet, unique, private cabin to spend a few nights. The Treehouse and Heidi's hospitality exceeded our expectations! She was prompt when we had a question and was able to meet us just to say hello. The accommodations were wonderful, and the scenery was even better. If you enjoy wildlife and a sky full of stars, you will also love this cozy cabin. We have already recommended our friends to stay here! Thank you for everything! We hope to be back soon!

    Jessica2014-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rocky Top Farms is a spectacular place to spend a few days. The treehouse is spacious and comfortable and is a convenient base for touring NW Michigan. Heidi was most welcoming -- both in person, via phone communications, and with her gift of preserves from the farm!

    Deborah2014-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Six of us stayed at the TreeHouse for a weekend and we had plenty of room and a wonderful time. The space was beautifully decorated, with lots of windows where we could see the snow falling. It was so cozy to be there after a day of skiiing at Boyne (only 30 minutes away). I'd highly recommend!

A great place to hang your hat & enjoy a great vacation. Please check calendar for specials. Central Air and Furnace just added in Summer of 2017. New flooring added in 2018. Great location just steps from retail and the beach. WIFI. Freshly painted. Comfortable furniture and beds. Claw foot bathtub in the bathroom with an add-on shower. No longer pet friendly due to too much difficulty with cleaning.
The City of Charlevoix, also known as Charlevoix the Beautiful, is located in Charlevoix County in beautiful northwest Michigan. The City borders picturesque Round Lake, Lake Michigan, and Lake Charlevoix. Charlevoix provides residents and visitors with opportunities to golf, boat, sail, ski, skateboard, listen to music and enjoy beaches or parks.
  • Great location. There were 4 in our group. Plenty of room for everyone. Loved that the beach was so close.

  • Justin's place is comfortable and clean. These small touches made it really nice: coffee maker with a timer on it, water filter in the fridge, wifi, alarm clocks, nice shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, a hairdryer, and lots of entertainment options (Netflix, Sling, etc). Though we didn't use the laundry machine, it was nice to know we could. Parking is right behind the house. There is great natural light in the home as well. It's a few blocks down from a full-service grocery store, a movie theater, downtown Charlevoix, and the waterfront. Justin and his team were easily accessible and quickly responded to us. Highly recommend!

    Katharine2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Justin's place was very cozy and comfortable! Four of my friends and I came up to relax during our spring break, and the place was perfect for it. It's a pretty small cottage, and it's nothing super upscale or fancy, but it's very cozy, and the beds are super comfortable. Even the futon was very comfortable. It had everything we needed, a bunch of comfy towels, laundry just in case, and the kitchen was well stocked for a party our size. The bathroom was clean and the shower was good. We also loved the location. It's definitely in a small-ish town but the walk around the lake was beautiful. I imagine it would be very nice in the summer, but in the winter it was also very lovely. (If you come up anytime during the Michigan winter be sure you feel comfortable driving in snow) Justin was a nice host, and very accommodating with me because I was not familiar with the locking system. Maybe pay more attention to his note on check-in than I did, haha! Overall we really enjoyed our stay!

  • Very quaint cottage about 2 blocks from the beach. Very easy to get to and from in a very quiet neighborhood. Great price and everything was exactly as advertised. The photos were correct and the place was warm and clean. We were very happy with our visit and want to visit again sometime soon.

  • I stayed at Justin's cottage for a weekend and had a very pleasant experience. The cottage is a short walk from Bridge St. and the beach. There was only one other person staying with me, but the cottage could comfortably house a small family of 4 or 5. Justin was very attentive. I definitely recommend staying at this location.

  • This was a great place to stay - the space was utterly gorgeous and we were welcomed by Andrea on our arrival. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was spotless and overall just fantastic. I would stay here again in a second!

  • Staying here was a wonderful experience. Andrea was extremely accommodating of our last-minute booking when our other reservation cancelled. The loft was beautifully maintained. Our bedroom was charming and the bathroom was immaculate. Andrea has created a comfortable, inviting space for those looking to get away to Petoskey. It's a place worth staying in even just for the glow of the morning sun.

  • Great little spot! The loft was as described, everything was neat and tidy. Andrea was easy to work with and accommodated a late arrival. Her added personal touches (cold water in the fridge, coffee pods, breakfast bars) were wonderful! The loft was within walking distance to town, and the town is so cute! Enjoyed our stay. Thanks, Andrea!

  • Our family enjoyed a wonderful week at the modern farmhouse. It was everything it was advertised to be and we could not have asked for anything more! Beautful, comfortable home in a very peaceful setting! Loved visiting the winery's, beaches and towns...all within a short drive.

  • Sean was communicative and did an excellent job letting us know everything necessary to stay in his house. The house was nicely prepared for our arrival, with arrival and departure times communicated early enough to be convenient for our trip. This location was amazing - beautiful scenery and very peaceful. Close enough to Traverse City to provide things to do during the day but far enough out in the country to provide a quiet location to "get away from it all." Overall an amazing location and host that I would strong recommend.

    Stephanie2014-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house was as beautiful as it has been on all our past trips. Sean was very helpful with a cold bedroom (a previous visitor had shut the windows but hadn't secured them leading to an icy draft).

  • If I could... I would buy this farmhouse and write the next great american novel here. I rented this for a women's literature retreat... and EVERYTHING about this property exceeded my expectations three times over. In fact I'd like to be married on the hill behind the farmhouse. Sean had me at hello. Extremely responsive. Had the drive plowed when unexpected snow visited. The property is immaculate, simple, understated. The kitchen - well what would you expect from a chef? The beds so comfy with crisp white sheets. Heavenly beds, actually. Enjoyed waking up to the song of birds, so quiet and serene you can hear yourself think. The sauna / shower was a hit. Hoisted an egg from the hen house for breakfast. The "room" we spent the most time in - next to the kitchen naturally - was the back porch. I can't imagine how PERFECT it is in the summer months with the outdoor cooking area. In summary, I am madly deeply and impossibly in LOVE. Oh, and if I may add a shameless plug for the book we were reviewing: My Own. "Live W I D E" ~ first review - from a "first look" at the unpublished manuscript - written 3/22 for the Gray Lady by an eloquent lady. By Elizabeth Mary Catherine Distel The narrator in EMC's literary debut “Live W I D E" is a restless, introspective woman with an appetite for life and it's meaning. The warrior at the center of this medical odyssey dances with her "dragon" of mortality through fervent scribes and scribbles, chronicling her battle with an aggressive and rare cancer - seamlessly weaving original quotes into the fabric of her character, "There is one thing in this life nothing can suppress... not even death" and otherwise inspired, “The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to (URL HIDDEN) Scott. Quotable epiphanies resonate throughout the book's beautifully wallpapered pages like the first, second, and third movements of Górecki's Symphony of Sorrowful Song. Of mid-western values, Elizabeth has always been a perfectionist, the ultimate "project manager" in a big-city industry of advertising execs. Now in Chicago, it is August 1998, and she approaches "Project Beth" with the same strategic finesse and fierce competitiveness with a campaign slogan: "I am worth it". As she wages her war, her narrative wanders back and forth in time to excavate morsels of family history, allowing the story to meander through laughter, disparagement and heartache within the context of the author's proprietary blend of profundity and sarcasm that give this story a lyrical voice as she presses her audience to "Listen to the music." EMC's voice is both deeply haunting and hilariously captivating, witty, and as wise as her Grandmother Virginia she fondly characterizes while exposing striking truths about herself and the universe. In the end, EMC defeats the "Dragon" "Fairy-tales are more than true: not because they tell us that Dragons exist, But because they tell s that dragons can be beaten."...

  • Sean's beautiful Modern Farmhouse exceeded our expectations! We had the most amazing time and felt very comfortable and cared for.....every detail was just perfect. As amazing as the place looks in the pictures, elevate that 10 fold in real life.....perfect setting and views....charming and rustic yet, every amenity you could think of....sauna, soaking tub, woodburning stove the kicks some heat! A kitchen you just have to cook in with everything you need! Honestly, we were thrilled!! Already planning our next visit. As first time Airbnb folks, I am afraid Sean as ruined us for any other properties.....thank you!

  • We could not have loved this house more! Beautiful decor with an even more beautiful setting. This house has everything you need. It's great for entertaining or to just get away for some peace and quiet. Great location, within 15-20 minutes of everything in leelanau county. I wish we could have stayed longer. This is the best place we have stayed up here! Our dogs LOVED the property, so much room to run and play!

    Michelle2015-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • We recently stayed at the farmhouse last weekend. There are no other words to describe it other than, " Heavenly". It truly was amazing! We had 2 families staying there. We both had children age ranging from 2-6 years old. This was the perfect spot for our children. They had a ton of room to run around. They loved running up and down the big hill, playing in the hammock, and going into the chicken coop to look for eggs. Best of all, it was so private. We didn't have to worry about disturbing any neighbors. the house itself was even better in person. It is so cozy and comfortable. We really felt right at home there. It is so relaxing there. No one wanted to go home. Sean is so extremely generous with is house. It comes fully equipped with anything you might need. I love the use some, leave some system he has going on there. it is the perfect location. It is very secluded with no neighbors. Only about 10 min. from several adorable towns. We are already planning our "next" stay there.

Beautiful land, rustic, comfortable home, quiet & private! Take a hot tub at sunset looking out over property, cook in our great kitchen; have a campfire at night. Oh yeah, really nice bedrooms w/sliding glass doors. Listen to the wind thru pines.
Our four-season dwelling is on 4 acres of gardens, pines, and ponds. One small Japanese pond, and a really big pond out back which goes up and down with the river. That's the Galien River which is at the west end of the property. A very comfortable hot tub (2 seater and great jets!) is just outside one of the bedrooms on the porch with a lovely view of the land. It feels like more than 4 acres because there are blueberry fields all around and you can't see or hear any of the neighbors. We have 40 mature organic blueberry bushes ourselves which are free for the picking from July-Sept. There is a pet fee of $20/night. The home has 2 bedrooms. The Master bedroom has a Queen size bed and a small sofa bed. The other bedroom has a trundle bed with 2 twin beds that can connect or not. In the living room is a long sofa bed that folds down to become a full bed. Really comfortable. We also have two Queen size raised air beds which can be set up in the living room, in a big a 4-person tent outside in the summer, or on the porch. 2 bathrooms, one with a marble walk-in shower and the other with an old fashioned laid-back bathtub. And- a fantastic record collection of Classic Jazz and Modern Classical albums! Home has a beautiful kitchen with a big stainless steel refrigerator, great stove, lots of cooking tools and lots of space for creating great meals. Plus a few Weber BBQ's outside for grilling. All rooms have sliding glass doors looking out to the whole property. The big screen porch (14'x26') is great. We eat and even watch TV out there, which is a LEDHD TV. (Streaming available) - Or play the piano? The house is all wireless, ceiling fans in all the rooms and on porch, and air conditioning/central heat. Great for a romantic and peaceful getaway, a small wedding, honeymoon, family reunions or small retreat groups. Three Oaks is only 90 minutes from Chicago in beautiful Harbor Country, with sparkling beaches, art galleries, great restaurants, dunes and hiking trails. Sometimes we love the winter even more than the summer out here...with the cozy fireplace and tons of firewood at your disposal- or use the fire pit and have a campfire outside. You can even cross-country ski right out back and down the little slope to the river! You will not want to leave when you're here. No one does.
Since I've been here for almost 30 years, I know all my neighbors and we're all good friends. I've always felt very safe in this neighborhood. Everyone looks out for each other. (It's a good way to live.)
  • This was one of the nicest weekends of my entire life. From the gardens to the pond to the river to the house to the hot tub to the awesome kitchen this was the exact retreat I needed. With a close accessibility to the beach as well as cute downtown shopping this place was made for me. Donna was an awesome host she really loves her land and wants to share this experience with all. It will be in annual retreat for me from here on out.

    Katie2013-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Donna has created a special, enchanted place. My friends and I spent hours in front of the fire when we weren't cooking feasts in the spacious kitchen or enjoying the snowfall from the hot tub. We also loved the cross country ski paths about 30 minutes away. Donna was a gracious, thoughtful host. Can't wait to get back and see it in summer!

    Sara2014-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Just returned from a wonderful stay at Donna's Blueberry Fields House and Retreat and what a retreat it was! The home and property are enchanting. We enjoyed lazing about listening to records by the fireplace, cooking in her well appointed kitchen and the master bedroom's bed was quite comfy. The outdoor hot tub was a real treat as was the claw foot tub. Our dogs enjoyed wandering around the pond and along the river. At night the sky was lit up with stars and although we didn't see any owls we listened to their chatter as we soaked in the hot tub. Donna is a warm and welcoming host who has created and shares a wonderful restorative space. We look forward to a return stay.

    Celia2016-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay - Donna was very attentive to our needs. The home is off the beaten path. As a result - a very peaceful place to stay. Exactly what we were looking for to escape Chicago!

    Rob2013-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Donna's home was amazing. It was incredibly relaxing and comfortable. We spent a few days there over New Years and wished that it could have been longer. The house was warm and cozy after walks in the snowy yard with our dog (who loved it even more than we did) and the fireplace was spectacular. There is no better place to watch the snow fall than from the hot tub! Donna was incredibly accommodating, even calling to make sure we weren't snowed in on our last day. I've stayed in a number of locations in the Union Pier/New Buffalo area and this was by far the most relaxing stay we've had in years. A few specifics: the kitchen is fully stocked with all of the cooking pots/pans/tools you would need (along with a crock pot, microwave and other kitchen tools). The bathrooms are wonderful (while you can't see it in the picture, the shower in the tiled bathroom is a walk-in shower with a nice seat as well). The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable and the bedding kept us very warm and cozy on those cold nights. I would highly recommend this location to anyone and hope that we'll be returning soon!

  • Donna Blue is the most incredible host/woman. I cannot recommend her and her home enough. We were 8 people (4 couples) there over the weekend just looking to get out of town and relax. There was plenty of room in her cozy home. Every last minute detail of her house is adorable. Such good vibes and she made us feel so welcome. It was so quaint and her kitchen is great for cooking too. Her land is very special and I cannot wait to come back. Thank you Donna Blue!!

    Sylvie2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Donna was hospitable and kind. Place was great to chill and we had really good time at Donna' place.

  • Donna' place was wonderful for our weekend getaway with another young family. The toddlers loved roaming around the grounds, and Donna's place made it so easy for the adults to kick back and relax. We loved the fireplace, record player, and hot tube! The proximity to multiple Harbor County towns made it easy to find activities during the day. It was just what we needed for a getaway from the city!

Welcome to Esther House. We took a 1930's catalog vacation cabin and turned it into an inviting 2 bedroom retreat home. We are steps to the Spring Lake Beach and Village, bike paths, a 2.5 mile bike or car ride to the beaches of Grand Haven.
This charming, fully rehabbed 2 bedroom home makes for the perfect getaway, and the best alternative to a Hotel/Motel in the area. Although the footprint of Esther house is small, we offer 1100 sq ft of comfort over the basement, main level and lofted bedroom, designed with easy and comfortable living in mind. A fully stocked custom kitchen with high-end appliances, granite breakfast bar and an open plan to the cozy living/dining room. Small dinette table seats four. The living room has a comfortable sofa, reading chair and 42" TV. No cable, but its hooked up to stream all your favorites. In the basement we have a brand new bedroom with a queen sized bed, nightstands and dresser. A separate utility area with washer/dryer. Nice and quite fenced back yard with a cement patio.
The home is located in historic Strawberry Pointe area of Spring Lake, Michigan. The area is littered with these small cabins that once served as hunting and fishing vacation homes in the 30's, 40's and 50's. We are walking distance to the Spring Lake public beach, the expansive bike trails of the area and to the Village Baker (a must visit for great baked goods, fantastic brunch and dinners, as well as a great cup of coffee!!)
  • We enjoyed our stay here. The location was beautiful and the house was clean and the perfect size.

    Wade2016-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This Retreat home was simply wonderful! It is clean, roomy and so close to Spring Lake in Lake Michigan. We are going to make it an annual tradition.

  • It's a small home with modern touches. Looks exactly like the pictures and perfect for a nice getaway from the city. The location is perfect because it's by a small beach, town, and close to state parks around the area. I would definitely recommend this place and would come and stay here again!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Frederick's place. It's a very quaint house but has everything you need! Location was awesome .. super close to the water. We loved the table and chair set in the backyard - we were able to eat breakfast outside in the sun and it was just lovely!

  • The house is in a great location close to many amenities. It is very nicely renovated and clean. The decor is charming! The neighborhood is cottage-y and cute. I enjoyed walking the trail close to the home. It's a great place to stay - highly recommend Frederick's home!

  • want a beautiful place to stay when in grand haven, well look no farther. close to the water, 10 mins from the beach and a back yard to chill in. inside the place is awesome, very modern in style and feel. plenty of room for dinner around the bar in the kitchen or just hanging out playing games. a must place when headed to west Michigan.

    Victor2018-04-01T00:00:00Z

    Willem2018-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay as The Esther House. It is a very clean and stylish place. Frederick makes it incredibly easy for guests to get access to the house, and he responded quickly to questions we had. I highly recommend staying here.

Country getaway! Located 1/2way between 2 small towns: Pinckney and Howell. Near Nature and Recreation areas. Our place is secluded and along a private road - but shopping restaurants and highway for commute are only 10 minutes away. Only 1/2 hour -45 minutes to Downtown Ann Arbor and University of Michigan. Our Private Lake (no public launch) is GREAT for fishing, swimming, kayak and canoeing. Birds and wildlife abound. Peace and quiet given and expected! Available all year round - in the winter there is skiing nearby - either cross country or downhill. Four bedroom and 4 full baths, fireplace, open floorplan with open kitchen/great room with vaulted ceiling, wrap-around deck and wrap around patio off walk-out finished basement. Fully furnished and well-appointed kitchen. Laundry room, game room stocked with card and board games, bookshelves full of books, 2 TVs with DVD players and large movie collection (no cable TV and NO INTERNET service unless you bring your own hotspot via cell phone.) We also have a firepit with sit-upon logs for roasting marshmallows or weenies.. We have a shore area, 2 rowboats, a 4-person paddleboat, and a 2-person kayak for exploring the private 82-acre lake.
Rural location for those wishing for a place "off the beaten path" and surrounded by nature. I do have neighbors, but am on almost 2 acres nestled into the side of a hill, along a private road, with 200ft lakefront on small sleepy lake. Our little private road is paved, but narrow. No parking on the street, plenty of parking in my long driveway, 4-6 cars easily.
  • Susan was a great host. The lake house came pretty much complete with everything our family needed. For an all around 'City guy' the location of the property was just remote enough to be 'away' from everything, yet only a few miles from markets. With the exception of a bit of rain, which was beyond everyone's control, I wouldn't change a thing.

    William2014-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This home and property was amazing. Much beyond what we expected. The house was clean and complete with anything you could possibly need. The property was totally awesome. Would highly recommend this for anyone wanting to experience a wonderful getaway. The lake and fishing were great. We had day and night fires down by the lake. Totally relaxing.

    Candi2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Susan was accommodating, communicative, extremely generous, patient, and basically an all-around great hose. The house is well represented in the photos and description. The lake is truly amazing--for an all-sports lake so close to three major cities, on a beautiful weekend in August, i really expected it to be full of crazy motorboaters but it was extremely peaceful. in 4 days we saw only one speedboat and a couple pontoon boats. Speaking of boats, it's a really nice bonus that Susan provides several for your use free of charge, along with life jackets. Finally, the bonus salsa is really great, and being from Texas we like to think we know a thing or two about salsa! Thanks Susan!

    Vince2014-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Susan's place. At check-in, Susan took the time to explain everything we needed to know and told us to send her a text if we needed anything during our stay. She was so thorough in her explanations, that we didn't need to contact her. The house is comfortable and the kitchen well appointed. We cooked all of our meals and never felt like we needed more supplies. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the lake was just wonderful. We think this home is more suited to families with children than a group of adults. There is one very comfortable bed for two adults, but the rest of the beds are more suited for children. We highly recommend this place for others, especially families with children.

    Marcia2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Susan's cottage -- it was well appointed and comfortable for 6 adults and 3 young children. The house and property are beautiful and just as described. Susan met us at the house to give us a tour and all the details. We'll definitely consider returning in the future!

    Ben2015-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Susan is great to work with. She meets you at the house and is only a phone call away. Great response time.

  • I would stay in the Lakehouse in Howell again. We wanted a laid back, family vacation, and the house had a joined kitchen and living room, a big TV in the basement, no internet (which helped us bond better), and the lake was a blast to boat and swim in. The interior of the house was fancifully decorated. The views of the lake, the grass, and the woods helped us relax. Susan was helpful and professional.

    S2016-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house was on a very private and quiet lake . Susan was great with communication and really helped show us around and explain things in the home. The kitchen was well supplied . The lower floor did have a musty odor and the dehumidifiers had to be emptied often.

  • This house met the needs of our group! It was close to town and adorably decorated! Marta was able to accommodate changes in our party and even left birthday hats as decor :)

    Lena2014-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Home was nice. We stayed in the bedroom with the iron bed and the mattress sunk down in the middle. But other than that it was clean, towel left out, nice. We were not in the house much so it was perfect for us!

    Jennifer2014-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Loved Traverse City, great stay. Great online communication with Marta. Spacious comfy house, well equipped but with no kettle! :) Little bit further out then we expected. Some instructions about the TV and the air-con would have been very helpful. Martin

  • Funky cozy cottage in the woods where you feel very far removed from the big city. the cottage is well equipped and very spacious, and Linda and Flloyd took great care of us! We will definitely be returning soon...

    Emily2012-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin, more square footage than you'd think judging solely by the photos. We BBQ'd on the back porch, went to Seo Cafe for a really excellent brunch, a little walking around the beach despite terrible weather, a good time overall.

    Josh2013-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Floyd's Cabin was just great! The cabin is very comfortable, cozy and in a great location. The fireplace was ready to go when we go there, the cabin was clean and warm. Linda was on hand at every moment to provide help with directions, amenities and more. Our daughter loved the cabin, running around the huge living room and reading some of the books left about. There was even sand tools for kids available which made the beach so fun. There is central heat and a wood burning fireplace to keep you warm. We grilled lunch one day on the rear deck and listened to the chirping at night on the front porch. Thanks for everything, so fun!

    Jordan2014-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Charming, secluded cabin---the wood stove was the perfect addition!

    Sally2014-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Linda and Floyd's cabin provided a warm and welcome refuge for a seasonal retreat. Nestled in the thick of woods, just a short meander to the shores of Lake Michigan, the hush of wind through the surrounding trees that covet the property will put any stress at ease. The cabin is cozy and eclectic, generously appointed with Floyd's artwork of reappropriated goods. The ol' fireplace keeps the living room a glow with old newspaper and wood. The hospitality is gracious without being intrusive. Thank you Linda and Floyd! The stay in your cabin was a dream come true.

    Dein2015-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Linda and Floyd were great hosts. The cabin was a perfect home base for our weekend. Would definitely recommend it!

    Jill2012-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is even more wonderful in person than the pictures can illustrate! The wonderful artwork, furniture made by Floyd, conveniences in the kitchen, comfy living space, and cozy bedroom all made our stay one to remember. Floyd was generous enough to let us check out his workshop and had great recommendations for things to do in the area. Great location for exploring harbor country - close to a gorgeous beach, yummy food spots, and biking routes galore. Would love to stay here again next year!

The Cabin Attractive, comfortable, off the grid cabin, on the Waterloo-Pinckney trail. A beautiful woodstove for winter heat or chilly evenings, queen size bed, battery operated lights, and a humanuer toilet. Nestled amoung many acres of state forest, including nearby lakes, and many miles of trails for hiking or skiing. Wonderful as a retreat space or vacation haven. Sorry, no children, no pets. Location 16 miles west of Ann Arbor, surrounded by state forest. Breakfast included, lovingly prepared by natural foods caterers and delivered to your cabin at pre-arranged times. Most special diets can be accomodated deliciously. Hanuman The main house has some ashes from Neem Karoli Baba in the foundation. He is believed to be a physical incarnation of Hanuman, the Hindu God of Service. We wish to give respite and good food to service workers, whether your service is to your family, friends, job, or the world.
  • A small little taste of Off the Grid. Quiet, serene,a perfect little get away, warmth of a fire place, comfort of flannel sheets on a cold night, waking to the sounds of the birds in the morning brought me back to nature and the memories of my youth! We had a great time in town with a great dinner and a play to boot! All in 2 days. Would love to experience this in the summer time! Mully and Deb's personal touch was well received and made my stay a treasure to be remembered!!! I hope to partake in experiencing the trails next to the cabin on my next retreat! Love and peace, Brenda B

    Brenda2017-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • So good! The food, the space, the solitude... This is a perfect place to hit the reset button on your life or get some deep work done. Highly recommended!

    Mindie2017-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Mully & Deb were very hospitable. The grounds are beautiful and the cabin is so comfy and secluded. There are walking trails just a few steps away and a lake! There is no electricity or running water but it's part of the experience. There are also battery operated lights and water provided. We saw a parade of wild turkeys and fell asleep to the sound of crickets! For breakfast we recommend the fresh corn pancakes. They were to die for. Would definitely stay again.

    Valerie2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • What a treat! If you are looking for a relaxing respite this is a great choice! The food is beyond amazing - locally grown and thoughtfully prepared. (the food is worth it alone!). We went for two nice hikes too. The trail system has many loops and distance options. Private and peaceful. We will be back!

    Kristen2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Hanuman cabin on the path had everything we needed: peace and quiet, a picturesque view, and a cozy place to lay our heads. Mully and Deb are kind, thoughtful, and tremendously accomidating. We only stayed one night but could have spent much longer and hope to go back sooner than later. There's a sweet little cat that came around to visit us while we were admiring the beautiful greenery. The paths seem magical and endless (I'd advise a generous dousing of bug spray). We were treated to a delicious breakfast cooked by our generous hosts. We were even a bit late to where we were going, though delightfully so, because we were in such nice conversation with them. Our gratitude and admiration to Mully and Deb for welcoming us and providing a beautiful stay.

    Mel2016-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin on the path is a beautiful sanctuary, even in a drippy, wet March winter. Mully and Deb's breakfasts are unbelievably wonderful. If traveling with others, you should be comfortable using the toilet in the same space. We will be back!

    Amelia2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to stay. It is a self-contained cabin far enough away from the hosts home to have complete privacy. There is no electricity or running water, but you won't miss them. This is a place to go, turn your phone off, relax and unwind. There are walking and hiking paths that you can access directly from the cabin. There is a toilet in the cabin that is a composting toilet. Don't let this deter you, it is very little different than a normal toilet. There is a pitcher of water and a wash basin in the cabin. You can light a fire in the wood stove for heat as well. The hosts were wonderful gave you privacy and provide breakfast. Anyone looking to get away would have a hard time finding a better place than this.

    Brandon2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Mully and Deb have a great getaway cabin for a rustic weekend in the woods. The cabin backs up onto a hiking trail that runs between lakes. The cabin is totally off the grid which was just what we were looking for. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic and worth the trip itself.

The Grand Mere Coach House is in an eclectic neighborhood surrounded by Lake Michigan, small lakes, and sand dunes. Grand Mere Park is a year around beautiful place for walking, cross country skiing, and sledding. The family room and kitchen face Lake Michigan with lots of windows. The house has a queen bedroom, queen pullout in family room, and laundry. A bird feeder adds to the charm. There is also a HOT TUB located on the back patio directly on Lake Michigan, behind the main house.
The coach house is on the Lake with a view of Lake Michigan and normally a beach. It has a full kitchen a living room with a queen pullout and a queen bedroom and bath. Grand Mere State Park is very close containing 600 acres of dunes, trails and several thousand feet of beach. Note: Lake Michigan is currently at very high levels and we have to access the beach from the public beach 100' to the south. The beach is still walkable all of the way to the south into the state park.
Grand Mere is an eclectic neighborhood in between Lake Michigan and 2 inland lakes. Grand Mere State Park containing 600 acres of lakes and dunes is next (website hidden). Joseph, New Buffalo, and wine country are within 15 minutes.
  • Comms with John went smoothly. Everything was clean, great water pressure, fully stocked kitchen, and the lake was beautiful, will stay again if in the area.

    Kevin2016-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • John and his guest house were both wonderful! Everything was exceptionally clean. John gave lots of suggestions for places to eat. Private beach was lovely.

    Krista2015-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • John is a friendly, attentive host who gives you your space. The carriage house is perfect for a couple looking to enjoy the private Lake Michigan beach just steps away. The dune hiking trails of Grand Mere State Park are a short walk south down the beach. It's a 15-minute drive north to the dining, nightlife and large public beach of St. Joseph, Michigan.

    Patrick2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our time at John's coach house was lovely. We felt very welcomed and accommodated the entire time, and the view and quiet setting was perfect for a weekend getaway. We definitely plan on visiting again to take in the scenery during other beautiful seasons that southwest Michigan has to offer! Thanks again, John.

    Jake2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great beach house! This was pretty much exactly what we were looking for. Our own place where we could walk to the beach. John was very helpful, greeting us and answering any questions we had. The beach was very quiet and beautiful. A little rocky along the water but we didnt mind too much. The neighborhood is quiet and cute and close to town. It was a great stay and would definitely recommend!

    Erin2015-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • The coach house was absolutely beautiful. The bed was hotel quality with all white linens. Stunning views from every window. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the equipment we needed to make multiple meals. Everything was perfect but I have to say the absolute best part was the hot tub over looking the lake. We will definitely be back this winter!

    Shannon2015-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at John's house. We rented the one-bedroom apartment above his garage. It worked well for our family of four. The place was very clean, tastefully decorated, and well-kept. We appreciated the central AC as the mid-day can get extremely muggy. All bedding, linens, and towels were of excellent quality and condition. The view from the sitting area is incredible as Lake Michigan is clearly visible. John's property is in a beautiful location, and we loved walking on the beach and to the dunes nearby. John is very hospitable, and it was pleasant chatting with him. He seemed genuinely interested in making our stay comfortable, and he struck a perfect balance of attentive host and letting us enjoy our family time alone. We certainly are open to the possibility of returning to enjoy his comfortable home and the beauty of Lake Michigan.

  • We enjoyed ourselves so much! The area, lake, and cabin were all beautiful. We hiked, lit a fire, attempted fishing, enjoyed the outdoors, and relaxed, which was much needed. We think our five-month old German Shepherd Bruno had the best time as he got to run around without a leash, he played in the snow, and barked at nature. Thank you!

    Marek2012-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. What an incredible experience we had staying at the cabin. This is the kind of place that fairy tales are made of and was the perfect getaway for complete isolation and relaxation. Five of us headed up to the cabin for about a week in the wilderness for the start of February, and it was some of the most pristine land that we could have imagined . The trees glistened with snow and the frozen lake was covered with a white blanket of fresh snow as well. The fireplace kept us warm (as well as the indoor heating) and was fully stocked with chopped wood outdoors. Both Michelle and the property caretaker Tina were extremely friendly and communicative before, during, and after our trip, and we were very glad to have found this gem in Republic Township, Michigan. We were able to hike through the snowy woods and admire the stars at night, as well as spend a good deal of time in the game room playing carpetball and air hockey. The town of Republic had a great little restaurant that we ate at for breakfast and we were also able to make the trip to Marquette (about 45 minutes away) to explore the surroundings there (Brewery, stores, hike up Sugarloaf mountain). This is the perfect location for a winter getaway and we would come back in a heartbeat. We are looking forward to returning to this area and would love to stay here again! Can't recommend the cabin any more!!

    Wes2013-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was great, the house and the views are amazing. We stayed for the weekend to snowmobile, and had an awesome time.

    Chris2018-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had the pleasure of staying in Michelle's cabin over the 4th of July holiday, and I could think of no better way to have spent it. Michelle and Marsha were extremely helpful and made us feel welcome from the very beginning of the booking process. The cabin itself was extraordinary, and the quiet days spent by the lake were exactly what the doctor ordered. Never having booked through airbnb before, I wasn't sure what to expect, and I packed way more than we needed as Michelle had everything there already for our use. On our final morning at the cabin, we were a bit sad to have to leave, but are already making plans to return in the future. This was a fantastic experience that my entire family enjoyed, and I would gladly spend my money to do it all over again.

    Nichole2014-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at your very private and secluded cabin. We lucked out and had perfect weather other than a couple rain showers. Lots of relaxing whether it be in the hammock, a slow paddle around the lake or just enjoying the view from the deck overlooking the lake. The fire pit got a good bit of use as well, as we had our share of s'mores after dinner. Our 3 year old took quite a liking to playing in the sand by the canoe launch area as well as chasing bugs with her butterfly net. All in all we has a great time, thanks Michelle for hosting us.

    Brent And Dawn2015-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described.

    Cindy2015-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was the most incredibly beautiful accommodation, we have ever stayed at. t was a mountain retreat on a private lake. It was just what we needed as we were saying goodbye to a terminally relative that lived close by. It was cozy and inviting and had everything we needed. It was in a remote location so we purchased our groceries in Iron Mountain on the way up (just like we would if we were going camping). The sunsets were amazing as dragonflies put on quite the show. Michelle was great to work with as this was our first time using Airb&b.

This private studio suite acquires the best area of our 100+ year old house. A modified parlor and sunroom with traditional glass windows overlook historic Heritage Hill. Minutes from downtown, you'll be able to experience the best of Grand Rapids!
Our private studio suite is located within what we jokingly call the "East Wing" of our 100+ year old home. It has its own front door and is locked off from the rest of the house, so you'll be able to rest at ease knowing that you won't be sharing with others. Traditional glass windows wrap around the sunroom, creating a perfect place to drink coffee in the morning and sit on the couch while the sun sets. The suite offers a full kitchen and bathroom with a queen size bed.
Our neighborhood is part of the historical Heritage Hill district of Grand Rapids. Home owners in this area go to great lengths to keep up to code to preserve the aesthetics of this old neighborhood. A half block away is the Meyer May House designed by Frank Llyod Wright and is considered Michigan's Prairie masterpiece.
  • Charming, well equipped studio in a great location! We loved the separate entrance and privacy of this place as we were in town for an interview and short on sleep - no problem resting here. The sunroom was a delight! Cody is a great host and we would not hesitate to return in the future.

    Christine2017-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Host, communicated details about stay well. He had all of the amenities you would expect in a hotel. I was in town for work, so I wasn't able to spend a lot of time there during the daylight hours, but especially liked the sun room. I will likely make this my regular spot for the 3-4 times I am in Grand Rapids each year.

    Chris2016-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first trip to Grand Rapids and my husband and I couldn't have picked a better place to stay for the night. Cody's place is in the middle of a beautiful neighborhood just outside of downtown. Because it was still chilly out we ended up driving/ubering to all the nearby restaurants, but it would be a nice easy walk during the summer months. We would definitely stay again!

Me, my husband, my in-laws, and my two children spent five nights at Jack’s place, and we created many great memories around his dining room table after preparing food using his state-of-the-art cooktop. Most afternoons we took a chilly walk on the path by the lake, and enjoyed the wildlife (deer and birds) that would wander into the yard throughout the day. I don’t have a lot of experience using AirBnB, and Jack has definitely set the bar very high for both timely communication and thoughtful touches and amenities in his home. • We had a great time at Jack's place. The house was very relaxing with great views of the lake. Beds are comfortable, linens are all very clean and new! Kitchen is great, open layout. House is decorated nicely with many plants and some decorative items we had to put up to keep oir 16 month old away from. There are a few step downs as kitchen area is raised from living room and entry. There is no microwave and freezer is in basement as he has a wonderful glass front commercial fridge in kitchen! Views are amazing no matter where you are in house! We saw deer, chipmunks, and groundhogs. Backyard is huge and we had a bunch of young children with us and they were all so entertained exploring yard we did not have to chase them away from lake. The playground is 3 minutes down relaxing trail and there is a beach area there too! Very quiet neighborhood! Thanks Jack for making our stay how we wanted it to be!

This is a perfect spot to discover the surrounding area. The house is perfectly located and Marilyn takes good care of it. We had a great time and Marilyn was a very good host and always available.

The room we stayed in was in the warmest part of the house, which was great because a blizzard had just come through Traverse City. Pamela's son met us at the door and had us all setup in a few minutes when we came in after snowshoeing at Sleeping Bear Dunes. It was definitely a warm welcome up after being outdoors in the cold. We were even able to do a load of laundry while we were there. The location was perfect for checking out the city and we did not have far to walk at night in the below 0 *F temperatures. Good place to stay for the location!

Very impressive little studio! Walkable to Front St and pretty much all of the restaurants and shops. Also a very cozy home base if you travel to Leelanau, or Mission Peninsula. Clean, modern and very up to date amenities including kuereg, and roku TV. Loved the environmentally friendly touches too.
